Good Luck To Our 2010 Trans Candidates

Their last minute campaigning is done,  the polls are open and once they close starting at 7 PM across much of the nation we'll find out if our 2010 class of trans political candidates made history

Many were covered in a recent New York Times article about trans candidates in this election cycle, but the biggest splash news wise has to be Brittany Novotny.    She's garnered coverage from CNN about her competitive HD 84 race against notorious homobigot Oklahoma state rep Sally Kern and if she wins, would become the first trans person to be elected to a state legislature.

Out in California Vicky Kolakowski is vying to become the first transperson elected to a judgeship and across the Bay in San Francisco Theresa Sparks is trying to win the Supervisors seat once held by another groundbreaking politician in Harvey Milk.

In the president's home state Kim Coco Iwamoto, who currently holds the distinction as the first transperson elected to statewide office and is currently the highest ranking trans office holder in the United States, is running for reelection to the Hawaii State Board of Education.

Good luck and hope there will be some trans history made later tonight.
