Canada's Bill C-389 Update V-Big Day For Our Canadian Trans Cousins

Around 5:30 PM EST today Bill C-389, the Canadian Trans Rights bill is scheduled to undergo Third Reading in the Canadian House and its first hour of two hours of debate.

Bill C-389 would amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code to add the words 'gender identity and gender expression; to it.

According to MP Bill Siksay,  the second hour of debate won't be scheduled until after today, but will probably happen in late February or early March.

So my Canadian readers, y'all know what to do, become agents of your own liberation.    Time to e-mail, write letters, fax or call your MP and ask them to support Bill C-389.

If you manage to secure their support, that, then send another e-mail to MP Bill Siksay letting him know that you have secured your MP's support.    They need that info to better hone their vote counting so that they have an accurate picture of who supports it, what MP's are against it, and who is persuadable on the issue.

This is the final legislative step to clear the Canadian House of Commons and send it on its way to the Canadian Senate.   It is there where the necessary legislative steps for passage in that body begin all over again before it can receiving the formality of Royal Assent to become law under the Canadian parliamentary system

It's legislation that is being closely watched on both sides of our long shared border, and we're hoping and praying in the States that our Canadian cousins get an early Christmas present in terms of continued positive action on it.
