Isis On Tyra
TransGriot Note: The YouTube video finally has been uploaded, so for those of y'all who didn't get to see Isis' appearance on the Tyra Banks ShowTuesday, here it is.
For some reason, the video for Part 3 is no longer available. I don't know if the timing is a little off compared with the others, but here's a link to one that works.

Thanks for posting this, Monica! I really wanted to see it.
Monica, thank you for sharing this. I suppose I might have found it by searching, but you saved me the trouble. :)
It's interesting to see how Isis is even more poised than she was on ANTM. She's grown up a lot. It's also great to see her all relaxed, because she's quite witty and very smart. And of course she looks fabulous.
Tyra violated one of Calpernia's rules: don't ask about the former name. But I guess Isis was OK with it. She allowed photos and everything.
Thanks so much for posting this. I had missed it. I must say that Isis carries herself with a lot of grace. I don't know that I would have behaved as maturely as she did if I were sitting next to someone that had exhibited that much hatred and bigotry towards me.
I do wonder why it was necessary to ask her about her male name. I also think it was clear that Isis was preop so why point out she had a penis? That was so upsetting for her and I felt for her in that moment.
I do hope that if Tyra follows her story that she does not turn it into a circus and handles it with respect and decorum.
Oprah has had trans people on her show but that have all been white. Even though there is a race issue there I will say the first time I became aware that trans people existed was on the Oprah show.
@Renee, Granted, the Oprah transgender shows opened a lot of people's eyes on the issues we face.
But transpeople of color have practically begged her to allow us to go on her show to talk about transgender issues as part of our 'ejumacation' efforts toward the African-American community only to be told by her staffers that 'Oprah didn't want to do a show on that issue'.
So you can imagine how we felt, in light of the beating transgender POC images images have taken on Springer over the years, to flip on the TV and see the Queen of Media (who shares our ethnic heritage) do multiple shows on the issue WITHOUT transgender peeps of color on then.
So you can understand if we transpeeps of color feel a little more warm and fuzzy to Tyra vis-a-vis Oprah on this issue.

Nevermind! Part 3 came back. And now that I see what this part 3 is, it's different than the one you have here.
YouTube is funny like that.
Tracey, I replaced the code just in case. it should work.

Renee,
I agree. Hopefully she got the opportunity to point that out to Tyra.
But the one thing we can't fault Tyra for is the platform she's providing to show a positive side of AA transgender people.
She's done more for us in her 2.5 years on the air than Oprah has.
