Target Has Best Year Since 2005

Featured Image
When you support the TBLGQ community, we will not only reciprocate, but it will benefit your bottom line.

The evilgelicals and right wing peeps have been boycotting Target for their supported TBLGQ policies and stances, and it looks like that boycott has spectacularly failed.

Sales at Target stores grew 5% in 2018.   Its digital sales grew an astounding 31% and the topped it off with an outstanding Christmas season to cap their best year performance wise since 2005..

Target's stock has also risen to $75 a share.

I also believe in supporting people who support my community.   When I needed stuff for my new apartment last July, I got the majority of it from Target.

So what can we learn from this?   If you peddle transphobia and homophobia, it affects your bottom line.    When you embrace your TBLGQ customers, you will be rewarded with loyalty from that customer base.

And besides, Target has better quality stuff.

CC15 Delegates, Let's Support Marjorie Silva While We're In Denver

When we start gathering in Denver next week for Creating Change 2015, I hope that one of the places we delegates visit and patronize is the Azucar Bakery owned by Marjorie Silva.

Remember the ridiculous 'swastika cakes' line that Houston suburban hate preacher Steve Riggle uttered during our HERO fight last year?

It stems from a Colorado case in which a right wing leaning baker named Jack Phillips ran afoul of Colorado's anti-discrimination law for refusing to bake a weeding cake for a gay couple.  Because white privilege addled right wingers wouldn't know discrimination if it slapped them in the face like it does non-whites, TBLG people and women on an almost daily basis, they have a loud and wrong conservainterpretation of it that is not based in reality.

They seem to think their religious beliefs trump human rights law.   Um, no they don't.

And by the way Steve, Houston bakers still aren't being forced to bake swastika cakes.  But Houstonians are still having to deal with discrimination inside our city limits because HERO hasn't been implemented because of your friends baseless anti-human rights lawsuit.

Okay, back to Ms Silva's story.

In their zeal to prove a false equivalency,  right wing activist Bill Jack rolled over from Castle Rock, CO and trolled 40 year old Marjorie Silva's Denver bakery and asked her to make a Bible shaped cake, which she agreed to do.

But when they were about to complete the order, according to Silva, Jack then handed her a piece of paper with hateful words about gays that he wanted written on the cake. He also wanted the cake to have two men holding hands and an X on top of them.

"It's just horrible. It doesn't matter if, you know, if you're Catholic, or Jewish, or Christian, if I'm gay or not gay or whatever," said Silva to KUSA-TV, adding in the interview that she has made cakes regularly for all religious occasions. "We should all be loving each other. I mean there's no reason to discriminate."

Silva said she would bake the cake, but would give him a pastry bag and icing to write the hateful anti-gay words on the cake himself.

Jack didn't want that, claimed he'd been 'discriminated' against and subsequently filed a complaint against Azucar Bakery with the Colorado Civil Rights Division.

"There's no law that says that a cake-maker has to write obscenities in the cake just because the customer wants it," said Mark Silverstein, legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Colorado.

And that's the key difference in the Silva and Phillips cases.   She didn't refuse to bake the cake, she refused to write the offensive message on it.   She offered a solution for the customer to do it himself that he rejected.  That's a First Amendment free speech issue, not a public accommodations one

And I'm also not liking the racist fact the right wing christobigot chose a Latina owned bakery in Denver to attack.

Since Creating Change 2015 will be kicking off in Denver next week, why don't we show Ms.  Silva some love and support and buy any baked goods needed at the conference from her Azucar Bakery while we're in the Mile High City?

There is also a gofundme campaign that has been started to help defray her legal expenses from this right wing trolling of her.

And for you TBLG peeps and allies in the Denver metro area, may I suggest pre and post CC15 you put Ms. Silva's bakery on your support list when you need to purchase a cake or baked goods for your future rainbow community events.

This is also a golden opportunity to show the nation and the world that we TBLG folks stand by and with our community allies when they are unjustly attacked while sticking it to the right wing christobigots at the same time.

And I can't think of a more delicious way to fight anti-LGBT hatred.

Why I Love Dolly Parton

Photo: Dolly Parton on why she stands up for LGBTQ equality: http://ow.ly/wDq7j
Contrary to the prevailing perception in the trans feminine community we have a lot of cis feminine haters, and the predominately white TERF's do their best to reinforce that, we do have many cis feminine allies.

One of them is iconic country singer Dolly Parton.   The 68 year old Parton not only talks the talk about LGBT acceptance and inclusion, she walks the walk.   I've heard anecdotal evidence that some of the people employed at her Dollywood amusement park in her hometown on Pigeon Forge, TN are trans fam.

While being interviewed by Joy Behar for CNN in 2009, Parton had this to say about why she’s so accepting of her huge LGBT fan base: “We’re not supposed to try to change people. We should allow people to be who they are and love them for who they are.”

Pressed by Behar as to what her thoughts were on the marriage equality issue, Parton replied, “I always say, ‘Sure, why can’t they get married? They should suffer like the rest of us do.’”

Parton wrote the theme song 'Travelin' Thru' for the 2005 movie Transamerica that received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.  It resulted in her receiving death threats from some nekulturny idiots pissed off about its blend of Jesus' story and uncompromising acceptance of trans people..

Dolly is the godmother of Miley Cyrus and like Oprah, has also faced rumors she was a lesbian despite being married for 48 years to her husband Carl Dean.   She has a longtime deep friendship with a female friend that dates back to third grade that the rumor mongers point to as their 'evidence' she's part of the LGBT family.

"Like Gayle [King], her friend, Judy, my friend...they just think that you just can't be that close to somebody," Parton said in an interview. "Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade. We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we're not romantically involved."

Parton also talks about the time she entered and lost a drag queen celebrity lookalike competition. "They had a bunch of Chers and Dollys that year, so I just over-exaggerated -- made my beauty mark bigger, the eyes bigger, the hair bigger, everything," she said, laughing. "So I just got in the line and I just walked across, and they just thought I was some little short gay guy...and I got the least applause!"

So yep, I have much love for Dolly Rebecca Parton, just as she has much love for girls like us.

Lynda Carter Interview On MSNBC

Lynda Carter2.jpgI have loved Lynda Carter ever since I saw her playing Wonder Woman back in 1975.  The fact she is a Latina was a bonus.

She's a huge ally for the TBLG community and liberal- progressive causes, and isn't shy about speaking her mind like she did back in October 2008, when the wingers were trying to portray Caribou Barbie as her famous alter ego and she quickly put that to rest.

She was recently interviewed on Thomas Roberts' MSNBC show, and what she said about the political discourse in Washington DC and Fox Noise viewers will probably have them attacking her in 5...4...3...2...1...

Anyway, for your enjoyment, the October 24 MSNBC interview with Thomas Roberts

Secretary of State Clinton's Pride Message

I still have much love for Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton despite the contention 2008 Democratic presidential primary.   She's made it clear she's a supporter of the rainbow community, but I still have my doubts that if she were in the Oval Office right now the trans community would be seeing the explosive progress federally we have seen under the Obama Administration.

Then again, based on the fact that surgery is no longer a requirement to get a gender code change on a US passport, maybe President Clinton might have been as trans friendly as President Obama has undeniably proven he has been.  Anyway, stepping off the electronic soapbox and back to the post.

Here's her taped pride message for the rainbow community
