Number 15 -Rest in Power Jordan Cofer

We have been hearing about the twin terrorist attacks in El Paso, TX  and Dayton, OH all week.  Unfortunately one of the things trans America just learned as a community is that a trans man was killed in the Dayton terror attack.

Turns out that the 22 year old sibling of Dayton shooter Connor Betts was one of the nine victims in the August 4 attack by Betts at a popular club in the city's entertainment district    The sibling was also the first to die in that terrorist attack that also wounded 27 people before Betts was killed by Dayton police. 

That sibling, Jordan Cofer was being misgendered by family,  Dayton police and the media to the point that Jordan's friends spoke out about it.

According to writer Katelyn Burns,  Cofer was out to a group of friends,  preferred he/him pronouns and self identified as trans masculine..

That means that Cofer is not only the 15th trans person we've lost this year, but is also the first trans masculine and non-Black trans person killed in the United States in 2019.

Cofer's murder also continued the pattern of trans people under age 30 being killed.

It is a pattern that needs to stop. 

Rest in power, Jordan.   Your friends who loved you will ensure that you're never forgotten, and you will always live in their hearts and memories.

Not Surprised Austin Terrorist Bomber Was White Male

Color me not shocked to discover that the terrorist bomber that caused fear all over the city of Austin killed two people and wounded three others was a white male.

Maybe that explains the reluctance of the media to call the series of bombings a terrorist attack.

23 year old Mark Anthony Conditt of Pflugerville, TX blew himself up with an explosive device as SWAT officers were closing in on him.

Austin PD and the FBI tracked him to a hotel parking lot in Round Rock, TX, 18 miles  north of the ATX where they found him .inside his vehicle.   The officers on the scene wanted to wait for backup before engaging him but Conditt drove off.

Conditt stopped on the side of the I-35 frontage road and as a SWAT officer approached the car Conditt detonated an explosive device, killing himself and injuring the SWAT officer approaching the vehicle.  Shits were fired at the car in response.

After being cricket chirping silent about the terror attacks for weeks, White Supremacist in Chief Trump finally commented on the terror attacks by congratulating the officers for their 'excellent police work'

No words from Trump to the families who lost loved ones to the bombing like Draylen Mason or Anthony House, or those who are recovering from their injuries.

Then again, why expect someone like 45, who cares about no one but himself,  to have empathy for others?

Austin can exhale a bit, but officials are warning there may still be some bombs he shipped or mailed before he killed himself, so they are advising people to be alert

But once again, just proves the point the Republicans an the conservative movement tried to suppress in 2009 that domestic terrorism in the United States has a right wing, white male face.   

Another US Mass Shooting Nothing Will Be Done About To Prevent The Next One

These school shootings are happening so often I barely comment on them anymore. 

This Valentine's Day massacre wasn't conducted by Al Capone's mobsters in a Chicago warehouse.  It was in a Parkland, FL high school by a 19 year old 'white identity extremist' named Nikolas Cruz.

The antidote to stopping them has been obvious to me for a long time. 

*Ban the ownership of assault weapons like AR-15's by civilians
 *Institute instant background checks for anyone wishing to buy a gun tied to the National Crime Database
*Allow the CDC to study the effect of gun violence
*Ban high capacity magazines
*Vote people out of Congress who take NRA money and block any attempts at passing sensible gun control legislation
*Kick the Republicans out of control of Congress and the White House,
*Keep the GOP out of power for the next 30-40 years so we can FIX the gun violence problem 

Lori Alhadeff,  mother of 14 year old Alyssa Alhadeff, one of the 17 people slain in this latest incident, called out Trump on CNN.



How many more kids have to die before something is done about this problem?   Will it take the death of the child of a senior NRA leader?   The death of a GOP congress member's child or a GOP congressmember before that happens?

That's a good question.   But thoughts and prayers damned sure aren't going to stop these mass shootings.  Actions like banning assault weapons will.
