'Black Panther' Trailer Is Out!

"You are a good man with a good heart.   It is hard for a good man to be a king."
I have been eagerly anticipating this movie ever since it was announced Marvel was FINALLY going to stop playing around and film the movie based on the first Black comic superhero in the Black Panther, AKA T'Challa, the king of the fictional technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda.

The Black Panther comic actually came out before the more well known Oakland based organization of the same name was founded.

Black Panther, and it starts Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa.  The cast of this movie also includes Lupita Nyong'o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Phylicia Rashad, Danai Gurira, Michael B. Jordan and Daniel Kaluuya just to name a few of the peeps in it.

We will get to not only meet much of T'Challa's family including his little sis Princess Shuri, the future Black Panther and ruler of Wakanda, but get to see Wakanda in all it glory.

It's scheduled to be released to your fave multiplex during Black History Month on February 18, 2018 and I am already blocking that day off on next year's calendar to see it.

'Doubt' Trailer

I've mentioned that Doubt was greenlighted by CBS back in May and is going to premiere during the 2016-17 television season,

One of the reasons you should be as excited about the show as I am is because it will be historic television in terms of having Laverne Cox play Cameron Wirth, the first scripted trans main character in a dramatic series played by a trans actor on broadcast television.

Doubt also stars Katherine Heigl, Dule Hill, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould, Steven Pasquale, and Kobi Libii

Carl(a) Trailer

As y'all know, I'm always on the lookout for trans themed movies that feature trans folks playing trans characters, and here's another one that should be on your radar starring Laverne Cox,

It's entitled Carl(a) and has two trans actors in it. Joslyn DeFreece in the title role as a trans woman facing opposition from her family as she is completing her physical transition and Laverne before she blew up.  The 2011 movie also stars Greg Bello and Mark Margolis and is directed by Eli Hershko.





Carla falls in love with a man named Sam who seems to love her for who she is, but he questions their relationship when Carla finally get the means to finish it.  She is faced with the choice of being herself or being with the man she loves.

Carl(a) will be distributed in limited release by Ariztical Entertainment in select theaters across the country on December 10, and hope we in Houston get to see it.

'Boy Meets Girl' Has A Trans Actress...

Playing a trans woman..

This indie romantic comedy directed by Eric Schaeffer is the story of Ricky, a young Southern trans girl who deals with friendship, romance, transphobic hate, and all the other gray area issues that trans peeps have to navigate while working to get accepted at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

It stars Michelle Hendley in the role of Ricky, and she had an interesting route she took to get this role.  Schaeffer found her courtesy of her YouTube video, and OUT magazine interviewed them both in this article..  

Boy Meets Girl will be in limited release in February, and hopefully I'll get to see it.
