Womanist Musings A Finalist In The 2010 Canadian Weblog Awards

Had to give my north of the border homegirl a shout out over Womanist Musings being named one of the five  finalists in the 2010 Canadian Weblog Awards in the Feminist category.


What can I say?    My homegirl has serious writing skills and a dynamite blog that deserved to be nominated in more than one category, but I'm biased.

I think she's all that and three bags of ketchup flavored potato chips.   It makes me happy and proud to see her talents being recognized by her peers, especially in her home country.

It's still an honor for my sis and we'll find out January 1 if she won in her category.

The 2010 Black Weblog Award Winner for 'Best LGBT Blog' Is...

Wow! TransGriot in the Judges' Category! The Skorpion Show won the popular vote.

The results for the 2010 Black Weblog Awards are up as Maurice promised at 12 noon EDT today and I was shocked to see that I was the Judges' Vote winner.

It's even sweeter because I was up against two previous winners in Rod 2.0 and Pam's House Blend and the award comes from my own people.

Hmm..don't and won't know how the voting went in the 'Best LGBT Blog' category, but didn't do much promotion of it, either. Oh well, there's always 2011 assuming I'm blessed to get a finalist nod next year.

Once again, thanks to everyone who voted for TransGriot and thanks to the Black Weblog Award judges who chose my blog over some stiff competition.

Last Day To Vote In The 2010 Black Weblog Awards

Today at 12 midnight EDT is the last day you can get your vote on for TransGriot and my homegirl at Womanist Musings in the 2010 edition of the Black Weblog Awards.

Of course you knew I was going to help y'all loyal readers out by providing the link to the ballot. ;)

I'm nominated in the 'Best LGBT Blog' category while Renee is nominated in the 'Best International Blog'. We'll find out the winners tomorrow September 1.

Deadline Coming For 2010 Black Weblog Awards

The August 31 midnight deadline for voting in the 2010 Black Weblog Awards is fast approaching, and as you know I'm a finalist in the 'Best LGBT Blog' category.

This is a Republican election, so you can vote once per day until Tuesday. According to the latest newsletter I've received from the esteemed webmaster, several categories are very close voting total wise.

Renee's Womanist Musings was nominated for 'Best International Blog', so show her some ballot love as well

The nominations have been reduced to the five finalists in each category for the 2010 Black Weblog Awards, and I have good news!

In the 'Best LGBT Blog' Award category TransGriot is a finalist!

My competition in that category is pretty stiff. It's 2007 winner Pam's House Blend, 2006 winner Rod 2.0 beta, B. Scott, and The Skorpion Show

Renee's Womanist Musings made it for best International Blog

While I didn't start blogging for awards, it sure is nice when the hard work you put into it is recognized by a finalist nomination.

So time to get busy and start voting. Hopefully I'll have some good news in September when they announce the winners.

2010 Black Weblog Awards

While I don't do what I do here at TransGriot for awards, it sure is nice when I get recognized for the hard work and the hours I put in to make TransGriot entertaining and informative.

The Black Blog Awards have been around since 2005, and are now in their 2010 nomination phase until July 25.

I would like to have the opportunity to compete in and hopefully win the Best LGBT Blog and Best Writing in a Blog categories this year.

But in order to be in a position to win it, I first have to get in it.

So here's where you come in loyal TransGriot readers.

I'll need your votes to get me to the point where I'm in contention for those categories. While you're at it, show Renee, my Womanist Musings homegirl some love for the 'Best International Blog' category because frankly, she's got it like that.

The 2009 Weblog Awards

How in Hades this got past me I don't know, especially since I've been waiting for the e-mail notification that it was about to take place and looking for the website since late October.

The 2009 Weblog Awards competition is about to begin and I'm a little pissed about it.

Unfortunately I'm finding out too late to nominate some blogs for various categories since nominations closed on November 22.

In scanning the list of nominees for Best LGBT blog, while Pam's House Blend, The Bilerico Project and Towleroad got nominated, TransGriot didn't.

There were a few blogs authored by Afrosphere bloggers whose work I felt deserved to be recognized in various categories but probably won't get that chance now.

Here's the master category list for 2009.

Even though I'm disappointed I probably won't get a repeat nomination for Best GLBT Blog, I'm still putting a link up to it anyway so you can vote for the finalists.

I'm also making damned sure when the 2010 Weblog competition rolls around that I and other Afrospear members are there on the first day nominating some deserving blogs.

Thank you to all the people who are showing me, and continue to do so love in the voting for Best GLBT Blog in the 2008 edition of the Weblog Awards.

Yeah, Towleroad is running away with this, but to be a finalist in this competition is a major achievement. It will not change my focus in continuing to create a quality blog for people to peruse and talk about issues in the transgender and GLB community from an Afrocentric viewpoint.

Lord knows it's needed now more than ever.

It's also needed for our sakes. To let transwomen of color know that you can aim your dreams much higher. That you have a history and people to be proud of and that there are biosisters that don't hate you, but wish to embrace you.

Voting Starts For Weblog Awards Today

Sometime today the voting for the Weblog Awards will kick off and run until January 12.

Once the polling does start, you are allowed to vote once every 24 hours until the polling closes.

The Weblog peeps are testing everything out to make sure it runs smoothly and if it gets started late, then the polling will be extended until January 13.
