Another 365 days have passed, and it's time to add another fool or (group of fools) to our distinguished and highly anticipated list of idiots,

These are the folks who have engaged in outright lying, massive hypocrisy, engaged in brazen  gaslighting, or consistently exhibited WTF levels of lunacy and gob smacking ignorance.

And no, Donald Trump isn't our winner.   That's would be too easy to give it to him.  Besides, I gave Twitler the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Decade award already, and he's the only two time winner (2015-2016) of a TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year award.

Longtime TransGriot readers know that on New Year's Eve, I select a TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year.

I've been doing this since 2009.   The inaugural winner of it was then RNC chair Michael Steele.

The TransGriot 2017 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Is...

It's that time again.   Time to discover out of all these folks nominated who will be named the TransGriot Shut Up Fool Of The Year for 2017.

There were many worthy nominees, and Trump more than did enough in his ongoing dumpster fire of a mispresidency to win the SUF of the Year for a third consecutive year. 

But I decided to give it to another deserving fool this year.

The five 2017 Shut Up Fool of the Year finalists I narrowed it down to were a group award for the Republican Party, Milo Yiannopoulos, Alex Jones, Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The 2017 Shut Up Fool of the Year is Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick
Potty Dan Patrick wasted much of his political capital and Texas taxpayer dollars trying to foister an unjust anti-trans 'Bathroom bill' on the state that the Texas trans community, its allies, Texas reality based citizens, Texas police departments and police chief , the Texas business community, Texas oil companies, Texas colleges and universities, the mayors of Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin, and most importantly Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) and Chairman Byron Cook (R-Corsicana) of the House State Affairs Committee repeatedly told him they didn't want and was bad for Texas.

But Patrick and his henchwoman Sen. Lois /Locker Room' Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) tried to force this legislative cow chip through the 2017 regular legislative session and a special session he forced that cost the state's taxpayers an addition $800,000 only to fail twice to pass it.tanks to the adults in the Texas House.

Just talking about SB 6 passage cost the Houston, Dallas and Austin millions $66 million in lost convention business.  It cost Galveston, TX a conference, and put $200 million of business in jeopardy.

And why?   For Dan Patrick's personal political gain.

That anti-trans rhetoric he, Lois and his party peddled during the session to pass SB 6 led to four trans Texans being killed and others being harassed across the state.

And once it was clear it wasn't going to pass in the Special Oppression Session, Patrick blamed everybody but the person staring back in the mirror. 

There's an ever lengthening list of politicians who lost their seats or offices for peddling transphobia that includes TX Rep. Debbie Riddle, TX Rep Gilbert Pena, NC Gov. Pat McCrory, and now VA Delegate Bigot Bob Marshall.

Hopefully on November 6 you'll be the next legislative transphobe added to that not so distinguished list.

TransGriot 2017 Shut Up Fool of the Year Award Finalists

In just seven days we will move on to 2018, so that means it's almost time for me to select the fool,fools or group of fools who will earn the coveted TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year Award.

This was the list of 2017 SUF of the Year contenders back in June.

Since 2009, every New Year's Eve I close out the year by selecting the person or person who excelled in exhibiling over the top levels of ignorance, showed Olympian levels of arrogance, and WTF levels of hypocrisy and did so for the entire year.

The inaugural winner of the 2009 Shut Up Fool of the Year Award was then RNC chair Michael Steele   He was followed by Sarah Palin in 2010.   Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition in 2011 followed by runaway 2012 winner Mitt Romney.

In 2013 the junior senator from Alberta, Ted Cruz made a late run to snag the 2013 Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.   The 2014 Shut Up Fool of the Year award stayed in Texas with Rep. Louie Gohmert getting it over some stiff competition   In 2015, it was Donald Trump , followed by him becoming the first ever repeat SUF of the Year winner in 2016.

The 2017 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Race- Midyear Review

It's June, and as you longtime readers know, every year on New Year's Eve I choose a TransGriot Shut Up Fool  of the Year.

Last year Donald Trump became the first ever repeat winner of the TransGriot Shut Up Fool Awards, and so far may be cruising toward the threepeat.

But there's a long list of contenders for this award and a lot of opportunities between now and December 31 for the fools to reveal themselves.

In my home state, there's Lt. Gov Dan 'Potty Mouth' Patrick, Gov Greg Abbott , Sen. Lois Kolkhorst (R), Steven Hotze, Jonathan Saenz, Dave Welch,  state Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr  (DINO) and perennial contender Rep Louie Gohmert (R)

From north of the border is Canadian Sen.  Don Plett

There's also Ted Nugent, Wayne laPierre, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Tucker Carlson, Jeffrey Lord, Omarosa, Ben carson, Betsy DeVos, Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway, Susan Sarandon, Bernie Sanders and Caitlyn Jenner.

Will other fools rise to the occasion between now and December 31, 2017?    You can count on it.

The 2016 Shut Up Fool Of The Year is...

Well, needed to get this post out before yours truly and all you loyal TransGriot readers head out the door to hit those New Year's Eve parties to usher in a not so eagerly anticipated arrival of 2017.

Before I announce who this year's winner of the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year award is, and you TransGriot readers have probably guessed who this person is, let me remind everyone who the past winners of this award were.

I've never had a repeat winner of the TransGriot Shut Up Fool Of Year award,  but there's always a first time for everything.   And that was despite stiff competition from Ben Carson, Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie, Omarosa Manigault, Katrina Pierson, Jeffrey Lord, Joe Scarborough, Jeanine Pirro, the NC GOP, Texas Lt Gov Dan Patrick and Kellyanne Conway making a late run for SUF of the Year glory..  

The 2016 Shut Up Fool of the Year is for the second straight year, Donald Trump.

Sucks that I and other reality based Americans are going to have the disgusting spectacle of him on our TV and other events for the next four year as the POTUS.

Congrats on becoming the first ever repeat winner of this illustrious award, and oh yeah, Shut Up Fool 

The 2016 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Race- Midyear Review

It's now June, and we have now moved into the halfway point of the year.  We've also moved into the halfway point of the race to determine who will get announced as the Shut Up Fool of the Year on December 31.

Donald Trump was last year's winner, and so far he's on track to repeat when I reveal the 2016 winner of the award on New Year's Eve.    But with five months to go until election day, there will probably be a lot of Shut Up Fool Of The Year worthy commentary .

But there are other contenders I'm watching for this award like Texas Lt. Governor Dan Goeb Patrick, TX indicted AG Ken Paxton, Jonathan Saenz, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX), NJ Gov Chris Christie, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) , RNC Chair Reince Priebus, Stacey Dash, Andrea  Tantaros, Megyn Kelly, Bill O'Reilly, Caitlyn Jenner, Omarosa Manigault, Katrina Pierson, Sandy Rios, Alex Jones, Rev James Dobson. Susan Sarandon, Rosario Dawson and group nods to the Bernie or busters, the Family Research Council, FOX Noise News, the KKK and all you transphobes.

We'll see who wins on December 31.

The 2015 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Is...

Well, I know y'all want to get to the partying, so let's get to who got selected as this year's TransGriot Shut Up Fool Of The Year.

I started doing the Shut Up Fool of the Year Award in 2009 as a logical extension of the weekly Shut Up Fool Awards.  It is one of my TransGriot New Year's Eve traditions in which on December 31,  I take the time to honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of WTF moments.

The initial honoree in 2009 was the RNC Chair Michael Steele   He was followed by Sarah Palin in 2010.  In 2011 Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition followed by runaway 2012 winner Mitt Romney. 
The 2013 winner was the junior senator from Alberta, Ted Cruz with a late run of idiocy to snag the 2013 Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.

In 2014 the Shut Up Fool of the Year award stayed in Texas with Rep Louie Gohmert getting it over some stiff competition.

And now, the envelope please as I announce this year's Shut Up Fool Of The Year winner.

The landslide 2015 Shut Up Fool of the Year winner is Donald Trump.   The only other persons who were even close were 2013 winner Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Ben Carson.
It was a well deserved award when you consider Trump was given the 2015 Lie of the Year Award by PolitiFact, white supremacists and Russian President Vladimir Putin are endorsing your GOP POTUS campaign, he has said nasty things about Latinos, Muslims, African-Americans, and women, mocked a disabled reporter, and made dangerous comments about shooting reporters.

There is no other fool, er person that deserves the Shut Up Fool of The Year award more than the Trumpenfuhrer.

The 2014 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Is...

One of the more popular features on my blog is the weekly Shut Up Fool Awards.  Every week I get to call out the fools in our midst, and business was booming in 2014 because it was an election year.

An outgrowth of the Shut Up Fool Awards is one of my TransGriot New Year's Eve traditions in which on December 31,  I take the time to honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of WTF moments with the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year Award.

The inaugural winner of the Shut Up Foll of the Year Award in 2009 was then RNC chair Michael Steele   He was followed by Sarah Palin in 2010, Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition in 2011 followed by runaway 2012 winner Mitt Romney. 

Last year's Shut Up Fool of Year winner was the junior senator from Alberta, Ted Cruz.   He made a late run to snag the 2013 Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.

So let's get to this year's Shut Up Fool of the Year winner.   Was a tough decision.   Sen Ted Cruz  (R-TX) made a serious run for a repeat.  Sen Marco Rubio (R-FL)  Rep Steve King (R-IA), Rep Peter King (R-NY), Rep Marsha Blackburn, (R-TN), Reince Priebus,  Bryan Fischer,  Gov. Rick Perry, Greg Abbott, Rev James Manning of the ATLAH hate church, local Houston fools Dave Welch, Dave Wilson and Rev. Max Miller, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, Rudy Guiliani, Pat Lynch also were in the mix for this 2014 award.

Group Nominations for Fox Noise, the NFL, the NRA, the NYPD, and the Republican Party.

But this year's SUF Of The Year honoree narrowly missed the honor in 2013, but earned it this year with people from the Attorney General to the TransGriot 'casting aspersions on his asparagus.'

This year's Shut Up Fool of the Year is Rep. Louie Gohmert (Teabagger-TX). 

Whether he was race baiting President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder on a regular basis, hating on the LGBT community, opening his mouth to charge that the POTUS wouldn't protect women from 'hundreds of thousands of immigrant rapists', saying gays shouldn't serve in the military because massages will make them vulnerable to terrorism, claiming liberals want violence and mayhem, and saying the gang violence in Central America is a myth, Gohmert Pyle proves on a regular basis he is one of the stupidest men in Congress, an embarrassment to Texas and the reality based people unfortunate enough to live in his district.

One of the features of this blog that you longtime TransGriot readers have repeatedly told me you love is the weekly Shut Up Fool Awards.

An outgrowth of that is an eagerly awaited by my readers New Year's Eve tradition in which on December 31,  I take the time to honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of WTF moments with the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year Award.

With this being an election year, I had plenty of fools to choose for this honor who showed consistent levels of stupidity, arrogance and ignorance from January 1 to December 31.

But with New Year's Eve fast approaching, need to not only decide who gets it for 2104 with your help, but remind y'all who were the previous peeps who walked away with Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.

The inaugural winner in 2009 was then RNC chair Michael Steele who ran away with that title.  He was followed by Sarah Palin in 2010,.   In 2011 Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition followed by runaway 2012 winner Mitt Romney. 

Last year it was the junior senator from Alberta, Ted Cruz making the late run to snag the 2013 Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.

2013 Shut Up Fool Of The Year

In what has become an eagerly awaited by my readers New Year's Eve tradition, on December 31 I take the time to honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of WTF moments with the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year Award.

It grew out of my weekly Shut Up Fool Awards that I started in 2009 to honor the people or groups of people who have exhibited mind blowing ignorance, stupidity, hypocrisy and cluelessness over that week

The Shut Up Fool Of The Year covers the entire calendar year from January 1 until today

To remind you of the people who have previously snagged this Shut Up Fool of the Year honor, one was 2012 winner Mitt Romney.    The previous winners were then RNC chair Michael Steele in 2009 who captured the inaugural one,  Sarah Palin in 2010 and in 2011 Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition.   

During the midyear review for the Shut Up Fool of The Year which I just inaugurated this year and will continue into the future, it was Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX) who had the runaway lead at that point.

But what a difference six months makes.

Enough jibber-jabber, I'm going to get right to naming the 2013 Shut Up Fool Of The Year so you can go into your New Year's Eve partying secure in the knowledge you know who won it.

But first, before I announce the winner, the runners-up for this year's honor.

This year's 2013 Shut Up Fool of the Year is Sen. Ted Cruz  (Teabagger-TX) 

Whether it was him making an ass out of himself with his ridiculous statements, reading Green Eggs and Ham during his faux filibuster, loudly proclaiming he was going to renounce his Canadian citizenship and shill having it as of today, insulting Sybrina Fulton and the African-American community during a Senate hearing by claiming 'Stand Your Ground' laws are good for us, cheerleading the government shut down and now subsequently trying to two step away from it later, the junior senator from Alberta not only was an embarrassment to himself, but for the state of Texas.

And unfortunately we're stuck with his behind until 2018.   

On behalf of all liberal progressive Texans, Mr T says it best for all of us and what we as his unfortunate constituents would like to say to our 2013 SUF of the Year honoree to his face.

2013 Shut Up Fool Of The Year Midyear Review

On January 30, 2009 I began what has turned out to be one of the more popular features on TransGriot in my weekly Shut Up Fool Awards.  

Every Friday I shine a bright spotlight on the fool, fool or group of fools who have exhibited mindbending stupidity and ignorance, naked hypocrisy, or say or do something so WTF worthy I just have to call them out on it.

Juan Williams of Fox Noise was our inaugural winner of that first award back in 2009.

Mr T is our smiling inspiration and mascot for the Shut Up Fool Awards, and because they were so wildly popular with my readers it grew into a Shut Up Fool of the Year award that I also started in 2009 and pass out every New Year's Eve.

On December 31 I honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of those WTF moments like 2012 winner Mitt Romney.    The previous winners were then RNC chair Michael Steele in 2009,  Sarah Palin in 2010 and in 2011 Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition.   

That led to starting during Oscar Week 2010 the Shut Up Fool Lifetime Achievement Awards in which I initially honored one person (Rush Limbaugh) and took them out of consideration for the weekly Shut Up Fool award unless they say something so breathtakingly stupid I have to call them out on it like I did with Uncle Ruckus Thomas last week or when Michele Bachmann ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012.

I expanded that to five people the very next year and these were the 2013 winners.  

I'm mulling a suggestion from several readers that I do a Shut Up Fool of the Month that I would start January 2014, the fifth anniversary of my first SUF weekly award winner.

Since July 2 was Day 183 of this year, it means we're past the halfway point of 2013.  It's time to start doing some hard solid thinking about who is in the running for this year's 2013 Shut Up Fool of the Year Award. 

So far we have three people who have distinguished themselves as worthy of this award, and sadly two of them are from my home state.

The runaway leader so far is  Rep. Louie Gohmert (Teabagger-TX) who represents the unfortunate reality based people in the Tyler and Longview, TX area.

Gov Rick Perry (Teabagger-TX) AKA Governor Goodhair is coming on strong along with Virginia Lt Governor candidate and cookie chomping sellout Rev. EW Jackson.

Who will eventually win the 2013 Shut Up Fool of the Year?  Check back with me on December 31.  

2012 Shut Up Fool Of The Year

It's New Year's Day for you folks on the other side of the International Date Line, but on my side of it we're 12 hours away in the US Central time zone from 2013's arrival..

One of the more popular features on my blog is the weekly Shut Up Fool Awards in which I shine a bright spotlight on the fool, fools or group of fools who deserve to be called out on their bull feces and jaw dropping unrepentant ignorance.

There are some folks however who did so repeatedly to the point they were consistently foolish over the calendar year.  Before y'all get your party on later tonight (or are recovering from your New Year's Eve partying) I want you to do so with the knowledge of who won the TransGriot 2012 Shut Up Fool of The Year Award.

Will it be former Rep. Allen West?  Mitt Romney?   Rep. Michele Bachmann?  Former Rep. Joe Walsh?  Rush Limbaugh?  Donald Chump Trump?  Rep Paul Ryan?  Rep Louie Gohmert?  Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL)?  Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ)?  Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX)?  Or will it be a group award for the first time for Fox Noise?  The Republican Party?   The Romney Campaign Team?

This year fool will join such winners as Michael Steele (2009), Sarah Palin (2010) and Herman Cain (2011).

It was a tight race this year, but I have to give it to Willard Mitt Romney.  Thanks to you TransGriot readers for helping me sort it out and for the nominations.

Mittens was a long running WTF when it came to his latest presidential campaign run.  From his 47% comment, shamelessly contorting himself and proving he would do and say (or not say) anything to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, liking being able to fire people, pissing off our British cousins on the eve of the London Games during his international tour; playing himself during the second debate with President Obama, claiming Russia was our Number One geopolitical foe, having surrogates from Hades like John Sununu and after he got his butt kicked November 6, his son claiming he didn't want to be POTUS despite spending over a billion of his and other people's money for it.

Mitt took being a fool to new levels, and he did so in front of billions of people.  

Our Shut Up Fool of the Year for 2012 is Mitt Romney.   Congratulations and Shut up Fool!
