FRC Hatin' Transpeeps For The Holidays

I should've known better than to ask for as a Christmas wish that we trans women and transpeeps in general get a quiet, transphobia free holiday.

But hey, I had to wish for something other than for myself while sitting on Santa's lap..

So it looks like we'll have another transphobic Christmas in which the haters come out to play and we are already mourning the death of one of our sisters before the arrival of December 25, much less Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.

Bah humbug.i.

Courtesy of the longtime haters employed by the Family Research Council, spokesgrinches Peter Sprigg and Craig James (yes Texas peeps, the former SMU running back mate of Eric Dickerson), parted their lips to propose a constitutional amendment to ban recognition of gender reassignment.

Nope peeps, this is not an Onion holiday headline, these paid haters actually came up with this jacked up idea.

The Transphobic Oppressors proposed this idea during a recent episode of Washington Watch in which James stated that transgender rights issues will have to be the next ones the Religious Reich combats in their 'war against the LGBT community.'

Sprigg then piled on with his suggestion that conservatives may need to consider a constitutional amendment regulating gender identity to being fixed at birth.

Not no, but hell no...

So word to the wise transperson.  Stealth status will not protect you from the evil the conservative movement wants to do to you and transkind.  If you are a conservative identified transperson, better wake up and stop voting GOP because your wallet doesn't trump my human rights.

And it's unfortunately another example of cis folks hatin' on us for the holidays, and why our inclusion in proposed or existing human rights laws is necessary.

On Monday’s edition of “Washington Watch,” James explained how transgender rights issues will likely be the next issue that the Religious Right will have to “combat in this war that we’re on with the LGBT community.” - See more at: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/frc-spox-proposes-constitutional-amendment-ban-recognition-gender-reassignmenta#sthash.vcpeIBqn.dpuf

Unmasking The Religious Right War In America

It's said that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.   That's especially true if you are a persecuted or hated minority group under constant microaggressive and macroaggressive attack.

You have to know your enemy, call them out, be vigilant for and respond to any attacks aimed at undermining your humanity and by extension, your human rights no matter how small they seem on the surface.

Alvin McEwen of the Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters blog and Pam's House Blend fame (and who I had the pleasure of meeting during Netroots Nation 2012) has been diligently documenting the Religious Right and their unrelenting neo-fascist attacks on the TBLG community while cloaked in Christian drag.

Alvin has spent the last year putting together a booklet that is a handy guide for detecting those tactics, debunking and eviscerating their talking points, and giving you the information and tools to develop counterprogramming against them entitled How They See Us: Unmasking The Religious Right War In America.

McEwen's booklet is timely in the wake of the Religious Right taking their war against the GLBT community global and exporting their hate based oppression of our rainbow brothers and sisters with successful results in Uganda, Nigeria and Russia.  The conservafaith-based haters are also attempting to spread their lies and disinformation in Brazil, Latin America and the Caribbean.

It's available for download and viewing by clicking this link, so if you want to understand the mindset of the Forces of Intolerance, might be a good idea to check this out.

Yeah, The Conservafools Are Definitely Fighting Us Now

"Our human rights win is inevitable no matter how much money, time and propaganda the haters deploy to stop it.  We have a human rights win that is there for the taking.  But that win will become a reality only if we transpeople here in the United States and around the world are tough minded enough to push back even harder against all our trans oppressors lies."
-TransGriot February 20, 2013  'First They Ignore You...'

Told you they were coming for us.   I fact, I've been warning y'all the conservafools would be coming for us on this blog since 2007.

And now, more signs that the wingnuts are about to pull the plug on their lost culture war against the gay and lesbian community over marriage equality and shift their money and energy to fighting the trans community with their patented 'fear and smear' tactics.

We already have seen it come to pass with the transphobic falsehoods that Fox Noise has been broadcasting against us.  Going on the attack against the San Antonio non-discrimination ordinance that sought to add gender identity and sexual orientation language that still overwhelmingly passed thanks in part to soon to be former San Antonio councilmember Elisa Chan's transphobic utterings.

Now they are going after our trans kids.  The most recent pathetic example was Bryan Fischer's disgusting bullying of Cassidy Campbell after her historic homecoming queen win.  The California conservafools are gearing up to gather signature to force a referendum to repeal AB 1266 backed by the California Republican Party.

And now we have former South Carolina GOP chair Todd Kincannon letting fly with the transphobic remarks and stating trans people should be interned in camps

Surprised the TERF's haven't declared Kincannon an 'honorary woman' for that one.

So transpeeps, if you thought I was selling you woof tickets about the two front War on Transwomen the right wing is about to ramp up on their front, the unmistakable evidence piling up leads no doubt to the conclusion that is exactly what's happening.

And for those of you in the trans community who continue to vote for Republican candidates or claim you are 'proud conservatives', you are complicit in and contributing to enabling your own oppression.

So get ready trans peeps, we have a fight on our hands, and it's a war we must win.

The Black Church Isn't 'Uniquely Homophobic'

And I and many African descended Christians, cis, gay and straight are getting fed up with that far too often projected lie being aimed at an institution that is the centerpiece of our culture.

That distinction based on the overwhelming mountain of evidence is white dominated fundamentalist churches and right wing Christian denominations who have had a foaming at the mouth hatred of GLBT people and pimped it since the 70's for fun, profit, political power and influence.

It wasn't Black churches who spent $28 million dollars like the Mormons and Catholic Church did to finance the 2008 Prop 8 campaign in California.

When it comes to pimping faith based homophobia and transphobia, no one excels at it better than white fundamentalist churches.   They not only are the architects and primary catalysts for many of the anti-TBLG human rights petitions and referenda, they finance them, provide the foot soldiers for the petition drives and campaigns and vote overwhelmingly to restrict and deny human rights coverage to others.

And as a group of white North Carolina ministers were prime examples of, persist in spewing hate speech from their pulpits.

As people like Rev Al Sharpton, Bishop Yvette Flunder, Rev Dr. William Barber and a long list of pastors are emphatically demonstrating, that 'uniquely homophobic' meme aimed at the Black church is questionable
