Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Reads Rep Yoho On House Floor

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemns Ted Yoho for verbal abuse in ...
"Having a daughter does not make a man decent. Having a wife does not make a decent man. Treating people with dignity and respect makes a decent man. And when a decent man messes up, as we all are bound to do, he tries his best and does apologize,"-Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

When are these conservafools going to get the message not to mess with Rep Alexandria Ocasio Cortez?

We get it Republican Party, FOX Noise and conservafool movement. .Y'all have your  hate on for her because she's a smart young Latina who doesn't have to work hard to make y'all look foolish on a regular basis.   Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is also considered to be a future contender for higher office, and that scares the crap out of you.

On Wednesday Yahoo Yoho (R-FL) decided to be his usual azzhole self out on the Capitol steps and accost Rep Ocasio Cortez, who was headed into the building to cast a vote and minding her own business. .    He made disrespectful comments about her, and concluded by calling her the b-word.

On Tuesday, Yoho tried to do damage control and make made a non apology apology on the House floor that was no only pathetically weak, it didn't even mention Rep Ocasio-Cortez by name.

Rep Ocasio Cortez as y'all already know is a formidable communicator.  On top of that, Yoho probably realized after he opened his big mouth he'd messed with the wrong congressional woman.

Rep Ocasio Cortez used some of her time this morning to clap back on that conservaazz and call Yoho out for his non apology apology..  She also turned this incident into an opportunity to talk about how men disrespectfully talk to and about women they are intimidated by.

here's the video of her floor speech.

Mayflower Madam Quote Removed From HISD School Walls

Image may contain: text
School doesn't start in HISD until next week, but one thing that Gregory-Lincoln Education Center students will see brightening up the hall is a quote from Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai instead of one from the Mayflower Madam.

Gregory-Lincoln Education Center
Gregory-Lincoln serves K-8 students in the Montrose, Fourth Ward, Midtown, and Downtown areas of the city.

It came to our local Houston activist community's attention that a quote attributable to infamous Mayflower madam Sydney Biddle Barrows was on the wall at Gregory -Lincoln now occupied by the Malala one.

No automatic alt text available.
The quote that previously occupied that spot read, "The more you act like a lady, the more he'll act like a gentleman'.

That is problematic on a lot of levels just beyond who it came from. You as an individual are responsible for your own behavior, and that not a message we should be sending the middle school age girls that they bear responsibility for the behavior of young boys .

Melania is a illustrative example of the futility of the quote, considering the ongoing nekulturny behavior of the overgrown orange toddler she's married to.

Image may contain: indoor
Local media got wind of the story after it was pushed by Pantsuit Republic Houston and other women's groups online and offline.   It wasn't long before the offensive quote got the attention of HISD senior leadership, was painted over and replaced with the more appropriate one from Yousafzai.

Image result for malala's magic pencil
Coincidentally, one of the books on the HISD third grade reading list for this 2018-19 school year is one written by Yousafzai entitled Malala's Magic Pencil.

Mission accomplished in terms of folks speaking up and getting positive action to take place after they did so.

Y'all Still Hatin' On Serena

Was happy to find out that Sports Illustrated chose Serena Williams as their 2015 Sportsperson of the Year, and deservedly so.

When you come within two sets of accomplishing a tennis feat that hasn't been successfully completed since 1988, you dominated your sport so thoroughly at age 34 that the biggest news in it was you losing in the US Open semis, yeah, you deserve it.

But there are some folks out there, starting with the LA Times who were hatin' on my fave tennis playing sibling and showed their racist  behinds by disrespectfully running a poll comparing her with a horse.and transmisogynist horse racing fans showing their asses on Twitter.

Bet you wouldn't do the same thing to Maria Sharapova, who BTW, wishes she had 1/10th of Serena's talent along with the rest of the European glamazons she routinely beats on the WTA tour.

This ongoing racist and trans misogynistic hatred of her unapologetically Black self is why I and the rest of Black America love her and gleefully celebrate Serena's Grand Slam wins and mourn when she loses in Grand Slam tournaments.

And I and Black America are tired of you vanillacentric privileged haters attacking her femininity.

And with the 2016 tennis schedule about to kick off with the first Grand Slam tournament of the year being the Australian Open from January 18-31, frankly I'm hoping Serena uses it as a springboard to accomplishing the Golden Slam in 2016.

What's the Golden Slam?   Winning all four tennis majors plus the Olympic singles gold medal in a calendar year, which is what Steffi Graf accomplished in 1988.

And speaking of Graf, with one more Grand tournament win, she ties Steffi for all time Grand Slam tournament wins, and Margaret Court's 24 wins are in striking range of Serena this upcoming season as well.

Go Serena!  See y'all haters in Melbourne next month for the Australian Open.

An Ugly NH GOP Blog Post

vaillancourtMore evidence that the Republican War On Women is alive and well comes from New Hampshire.

Seems as though New Hampshire state legislator Steve Vallancourt decided to write a misogynist post for the NH Insider blog that disparaged Congresswoman Ann Kuster (D)  as 'ugly as sin' and took it another reprehensible step forward by stating that drag queens were more attractive.

'Annie Kuster looks more like a drag queen than most men in drag.'

If Vallancourt's name sounds vaguely familiar to you, back in 2012 he had to apologize for yelling "Sieg Heil!" and doing a Nazi salute on the NH house floor after debate was stopped by the Republican Speaker of the House on a voter Suppression ID bill.

Vallancourt's post was intended to support the US House candidacy of New Hampshire state rep Marilinda Garcia, bur she quickly put out a statement yesterday distancing herself from the ugly blog remarks.

"State Rep. Vaillancourt’s recent comments about Rep. Ann Kuster are sexist and have absolutely no place in political discourse. Both Rep. Kuster and I have experienced this unfortunate reality of being a woman in politics. I hope that as time moves forward and more female candidates run for political office around the country, people will focus on the content of our ideas rather than what we wear and how we look."

And I know this conservafool isn't trying to go there and talk about how people look when he ain't all that himself.  But then again it's a concrete example of the misogyny running rampant in the Republican Party and the conservative movement boys club in general.

It'll be up to the residents of New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District to decide which woman  will represent them.   I suspect their November 4 decision on who will be their congressmember will be based more on qualifications and what they can do for the district

And speaking of what you can do for your district Steve Vallancourt, how about you have several seats and a nice tall mug of shut the hell up?.

Black Men, You're A Misogynistic Punk If You Hit Any Black Woman, Cis Or Trans

One of the things we definitely have to work on in the rapidly approaching New Year is eradicating this misogynistic attitude amongst young Black men, (and men in general) that it is okay to hit and fight women.  That attitude gets ratcheted up a few notches if the woman in question is trans

That transmisogynistic attitude needs to be checked especially in the wake of Islan Nettles death two months ago.  Because some punk was upset to discover she was an attractive trans woman, he brutally attacked her on the street and rendered her unconscious until she died a few days later.

That's right, I said punk.

I was alerted by Jaila Simms concerning a video of a man fighting and body slamming a woman, subsequently knocking her unconscious and her friend fiercely coming to her defense.

I'm still trying to gather the information as I write this as to whether the woman who was attacked is a cis or trans woman.   Some of the misogynistic and transphobic comment in the thread accompanying this video on Facebook claimed she was trans, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

So let's run with the assumption for a moment that the woman in question is trans.   If she isn't the following comments still apply to her as a cis woman.

I don't care what lies you cis peeps were told or disinformation has been fed to you, but a trans woman is a WOMAN, and should be treated and respected as such.

And this bull feces of you alleged Black men trying to justify swinging your fists at Black women cis or trans is disgusting, unacceptable, nekulturny behavior that needs to cease and desist.

Trigger warning for the upcoming video that sparked this post.

So let me repeat what I said before the video break.  I want you cis Black men and you cisgender men of other ethnic backgrounds to burn this in your brains, too.

I don't care what you were told, a trans woman is a woman.  Putting your hands on her in anger is never justified or acceptable behavior.   When she or any woman is out and about in the world, should be respected and treated as such even if she is screaming in your face millimeters from your nose because she's pissed off at you.

I don't care who started this incident that is on this going viral videotape.  Bottom line is that as long as you walk this Earth in a male body, you are NEVER justified to hit ANY woman whether she is cis or trans.

The societal rules don't change just because a woman is trans, cis men.  By dint of you being testosterone based lifeforms, you are still stronger than any woman you will ever come in contact with.  A trans woman may have been born in a male body, but after a year on estrogen has less body strength than the average cis male because of her hormone replacement therapy (HRT) even if you are the same height.

She being a trans woman doesn't give you the right if you get into an argument with her to hit or strike her either.   If you're a so-called man, you will back the hell away and out of that situation without using violence because that what men are supposed to do.

If you don't like the fact a transwoman transitioned, that's your transphobia talking and you need to get a life and some counseling to help you get over that, not her.  The trans woman is just simply trying to live her life to the best of her ability.  She gets enough micro and macroaggressive crap from society for simply existing.  She does not need a beatdown or being body slammed by you just so you can grab your crotch afterward like a gangsta rapper and feel more secure in your manhood.

Neither is swinging your fists at this woman going to alter the fact she is still walking Planet Earth in a female body, and has to cope with all the baggage that comes with that.  Multiply that societal baggage load as a Latina, Asian or Native American woman, and triple it as an African descended woman.

Black women have been demonized as the 'unwoman' for the last four centuries vis a vis the beauty standard that exalts white women as the penultimate in beauty and fertility.  Not only does the Black woman not need you Black men, who are supposed to be their defenders and protectors, demonizing them with the b-word or worse epithets, we don't need you swinging at us as if we were a boxing ring opponent with you.

Megathanks, props and prayers go out to Jamisha Smith for standing up for her friend who was unconscious after being body slammed and possibly saving her friend's life.   Our prayers go to this young woman who was attacked as well.

And FYI to the waste of DNA who put his hands on this sistah, karma is not only a you know what, she wears a dress and stiletto heels, too.

Instead of proving your manhood, all you proved to the world is that you are a violent misogynistic punk who is not worthy to date, much less be intimate with ANY woman.

And Black community, it's past time we said no to and diligently worked hard on eliminating in 2014 and beyond the misogynistic violence being directed at all Black women cis and trans that is injuring or killing far too many of our sisters.

Reason Number Whatever Why I Don't Vote For Republicans

Erika HaroldIf your political party had a 33 year old African-American Harvard Law school graduate who was a former 2003 Miss America with a platform of advocating for abstinence and against school bullying, what would you do if she was announcing at her old high school she was running for Congress under your party banner?

If you're the GOP, you call her a 'street walker', 'Miss Queen', and a 'love child'.

In the latest example of  Republifool minority outreach gone wild, Erika Harold announced in her hometown of Urbana, IL on June 4 that she was going to run for Congress in Illinois 13th Congressional District and challenge first term congressman Rodney Davis (R), who barely won the seat in the 2012 election cycle.

And how was that news greeted by the GOP?   With this racist e-mail rant from Jim Allen, a Davis supporter and the chair of the Montgomery County, IL Republican Party that was sent to Republican News Watch’s Editor-in-Chief Doug Ibendahl.

Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in Shitcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires.
The truth is Nancy Pelosi and the DEMOCRAT party want this seat. So they called RINO Timmy Johnson to be their pack mule and get little queen to run.
Ann Callis gets a free ride through a primary and Rodney Davis has a battle.
The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on..Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS…These pimps want something they can’t get,,, the seat held by a conservative REPUBLICAN  Rodney Davis and Nancy Pelosi can’t stand it..
Little Queenie and Nancy Pelosi have so much in common but the one thing that stands out the most.. both are FORMER QUEENS, their crowns are tarnished and time has run out on the both of them..

Former Miss America Called 'Street Walker' by Local GOP Leader (ABC News)Earth to Erika, the party you claim to be a member has a chair of a local party organization who supports your opponent and just publicly disrespected you.   It leads me to ask the question what's a smart woman like you doing even running for Congress as a Republican?

It's clear these knuckle dragging misogynist troglodytes aren't going to change.  They are threatened by and still hate any woman who is  smarter than they are.  They have a special frothing at the mouth hatred as evidenced by their dislike of your fellow Illinoisian First Lady Michelle Obama for Black women who are smarter than they are.

So why contribute a seat to their House majority that is virulently anti-Black, racist to its rotten core and anti-woman should you win it?  If I were you I'd run, beat Davis' azz in the primary, and if I went on to win the November 2014 election immediately announce after it was certified that I'm switching to the Democratic Party just to spite them.

And yep, crap like this is exactly why Black folks can't stand the Republican Party and we justifiably look side eyed at any Black person who even runs as one.  If they're disrespecting  an obviously qualified candidate like Erika Harold, what do they say about the rest of us who aren't in their party?

Umm, never mind, I just remembered the comment Romney made about us wanting free stuff among other racist GOP bull feces in the aftermath of the 2012 election cycle.

And it's why I continue to call the Republican Party the political arm of whiteness and white supremacy.

It Doesn't Pay At The Ballot Box To Be A Misogynst

Guest post by Renee of Womanist Musings, who is all that and four bags of ketchup flavored potato chips.

One of the reasons that the GOP believed that Barack Obama was elected four years ago, is that they weren’t conservative enough.  This election cycle, several GOP candidates increased their misogynist rhetoric and engaged in what can only be described as a war against women.  Considering that women make up fifty percent of the electorate, this was hardly a smart decision, as the election results proved last night.
Todd Akin who referred to doctors who provide abortions (which by the way is a perfectly legal medical procedure), as “terrorists,” didn’t fare well last night.  Apparently these doctors who have undergone years of medical training perform abortions on women who aren’t actually pregnant and scare women into making the decision to abort.  By his reasoning, women aren’t capable of making up their own minds about what to do with their bodies.  Todd Akin also at some point must have failed basic biology because he also believes that women cannot get pregnant from rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down, Akin said.”  Don’t feel sorry for Akin because he lost the election last night to the incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill because he now has time to go back to school and actually learn some basic biology.  Education should after all be a lifelong effort.
Tom Smith who tried to create distance between himself and Todd Akin compared pregnancy conceived through rape to being a single mother.  Someone should have advised him that you cannot run away from misogyny while sticking your foot in your mouth.  Tom Smith lost his election bid to democrat Bob Casey.
Richard Mourdock  came under fire for saying, "I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."  I suppose this is a polite way of saying that when life gives lemons, make lemonade.  Well, Mourodock better get his lemonade stand ready because he lost his election bid to Democrat  Joe Donnelly in Indiana.
Joe Walsh wanted the world to know that he is pro birth no matter what the situation is. Apparently, modern medicine means that the life of the mother is never at risk.  He stated, “There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing.” I wonder if he believes all of the science aired on Star Trek as well? Joe Walsh lost his re-election bid last night to Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth in Illinois' 8th congressional district.

Last night’s election results was more than a win for President Barack Obama, it was a win for women; it was a win for reproductive freedom.  All of these straight cisgender white men will never be in a position to have to choose between carrying a pregnancy to term and having an abortion, yet for some reason, they believe that they have the right to legislate our wombs. There can be no other word to describe this than misogyny.
Uniformly, they based their convictions on religious beliefs and by so doing, have forgotten that the U.S. has a separation between church and state for a reason. Christianity is far from the only religion in America and its place is most certainly not in government. Measures like sex education, access to free or low cost birth control, as well as lessening the income gap between men and women would go a long way to reducing the number of abortions but that is not something any of these men advocated for.  Instead their agenda was to control women and sympathise with rapists.
As a woman, these decisions buoy my belief in the system.  Due to free speech laws, these men certainly had the right to say what they did but that does not mean that they should be free of consequences.  The people have spoken and advocating for a lessening of reproductive freedom is not a something the country is interested in.  Hopefully this will be a lesson to legislators that a woman’s womb belongs only to her and should not be subject to government intervention.
Though the U.S. is still clearly very much a sexist society because women have yet to reach parity with men and this is especially true when it comes to marginalized women, these election results prove that we are willing to use the power we do have to our benefit.  Hopefully, it will serve to remind young women that the rights which our foremothers fought so valiantly for will always be under threat until we achieve true equality in all spheres of life with men. This is why there will never be an election that we can afford to sit home and pretend that what happens does not affect our lives.  Even if you personally believe that abortion is not something you would choose, women should have the right to decide individually.  Every vote matters when it comes to ensuring that women retain our right to choose.

Williams Sisters Win, Cue Racist And Transphobic Slurs

Didn't take long for the haters to start posting racist negativity aimed at the Williams sisters as they had a very successful fortnight at 'Williams'-don and captured the Ladies singles and doubles titles.

Loved this post by NewBlackMan (In Exile) Entitled 'Ain't I A Champion?'

If you think I'm kidding about the racist negativity, just peruse some of the comments that were directed at her on Twitter this week.

Today a giant gorilla escaped the zoo and won the womens title at Wimbledon... oh that was Serena Williams? My mistake.
      Serena Williams is a gorilla
Watching tennis and listening to dad talk about how Serena Williams looks like gorilla from the mist
I don't see how in the hell men find Serena Williams attractive?! She looks like a male gorilla in a dress, just saying!

You might as well just bang a gorilla if you're going to bang Serena Williams
Earlier this week I said that all female tennis players were good looking. I was clearly mistaken:

The Gorilla aka Serena Williams.
serena williams looks like a gorilla
Serena Williams is half man, half gorilla! I'm sure of it.
Serena Williams look like a man with tits, its only when she wears weave she looks female tbh, what a HENCH BOLD GORILLA!

Serena
Williams is a gorilla in a skirt playing tennis #Wimbledon
My god Serena Williams is ugly! She’s built like a silver backed gorilla
I would hate to come across Serena Williams in a dark alley #nightmare #gorilla #notracist
Serena williams is one of the ugliest human beings i've ever seen #Gorilla
Note to you scientifically illiterate bigots.   Gorillas also look like this.

I don't hear you comparing those Eastern European tennis playing amazons who lose to the Williams sisters on a regular basis on the world tennis tour to this animal, calling them ugly or men.

I'm just sayin'.

But I'm more than a little sick of the Williams sisters getting 'unwoman' shade spat at them by you haters who bitterly resent the fact that international tennis since 1999 has been dominated by two Black women who grew up in Compton.

Serena went through the defending Wimbledon champ in Kvitova, the presumptive world number one and 2012 Australian Open champ in Azarenka and Radwanska to get her fifth Venus (Williams) Rosewater Dish, so yeah she earned it.

You haters want so desperately to write them off, ignore their accomplishments and their status as two of the greatest tennis players in the game, but they continue to win Grand Slams.  You resent the fact the Williams sisters have had injuries, battled illnesses stared death in the face and still come back after an almost two year layoff to spank those behinds on the various world tennis courts.

By the way, in case you weren't aware of this, the 2012 Olympic tennis tournament will be conducted at the All England Club.  Who are the defending tennis doubles gold medallists?   Serena and Venus.  .

And still they rise.   They look damned good doing it too.
