Kamala Harris VP Acceptance Speech

Kamala Harris makes history in DNC vice presidential acceptance speech
History was made on Wednesday night as Kamala Harris became the first woman of color and only the third in US history to be nominated as vice president.

It was a night in which the ancestors and many peeps across America were beaming with pride as they saw her stand behind that podium in Wilmington, DE to deliver the acceptance speech.

For those of you who missed it, here's the video for it.

Not Feeling The (White) Trans Community Hatred Of Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris receives strong marks as Joe Biden's VP: POLL - ABC News
I was overjoyed to hear Kamala Harris' name called Tuesday when Joe Biden announced his running mate for the critically important November 3 election.

Sen. Harris was my first choice for president.  She has been on my political radar ever since I saw her speak on a criminal justice panel during one of Tavis Smiley's State of the Black Union conversations in 2006.

I've paid attention as she has successfully made trailblazing runs for (and won) San Francisco DA, California attorney general, and now as only the second Black female US senator in American history.

Kamala Harris Wins VP Spot As Joe Biden's Running Mate – Deadline
Her selection by Joe Biden as his vice presidential running mate shows that he knows the importance of winning this election and recognizes Black women are the base of the Democratic Party.  Biden also recognizes the fact that without Black voters across the country getting in formation for him, he wouldn't be the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee.

Biden also recognizes he needs Black voters to come out in massive numbers to oust Trump from the White House.

But what has pissed me off is the massive ignorance I'm seeing so far occurring in Trans World about Sen. Harris.   There are trans peeps, especially in the sections of it who are still mad (and can stay mad) about Bernie losing, who are exhibiting an off the charts level of hatred aimed at Sen. Harris.

Joining them in the hatefest are the peeps who were mad that Elizabeth Warren didn't get chosen to be Vice POTUS.

Calling Harris a TERF?   Really fools?  That is a smear that not only is easily debunked, but is so off the charts idiotic that it makes me question the mental acuity of the people who parrot it.

I'm also not going to waste time and space in this post debating that ridiculous birther BS either.

Ruthless': How Kamala Harris Won Her First Race - POLITICO Magazine
And naw trans boo boo kitties, your dislike of Sen. Harris isn't about policy.  I see your pink and white trans flag pointed hoods showing.  For some of y'all it's about your racism you're trying to cloak in a BS policy argument but failing mightily to do so.

So let's get to the reality of where Kamala Harris stands when it comes to trans specific issues.

Image
Let's start with the July 2006 two day conference she organized to come up with ways to push back against and defeat the trans panic defense.   That conference was attended by over 200 prosecutors and law enforcement officials from across the nation.

In 2014, as the California DA, she supported AB 2501, a bill authored by Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla that banned the use of the trans and gay panic defense in California.

Trump hearings launch Kamala Harris - POLITICO
She has also as a senator filed the federal bill (S.1721) to ban the use of the trans and gay panic defense.  She has repeatedly called out anti-trams violence aimed at Black trans women, and expressed her vehement opposition to Trump's anti-trans military service ban.

As California AG, she also joined with other AG's in several states in submitting the 2016 amicus brief in opposition of North Carolina's transphobic HB 2.  She also did the same in the Gavin Grimm case and joined 11 other states in doing so.

Attorney General Harris also joined 11 states in filing an amicus brief in
State of Texas v. United States, in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas, to support federal guidance that discrimination based on gender identity constitutes unlawful discrimination based on sex and that schools risk losing Title IX-linked funding unless they permit students to use facilities consistent with their gender identity.

And yes, let's also address the persistent lie that Harris 'opposed surgery for trans inmates'.

The California AG office is the designated attorney for all California state agencies.   That means when they have to go to court on an issue, the AG's office represents them.

California AG moves to block 'shoot the gays' ballot initiative ...
The California AG office is the largest state attorney's office in the nation, with five divisions and over 1000 attorneys working for it.    Harris was as AG in an executive position several layers of management above the attorneys who would try those cases.

So when a trans inmate filed a case to force the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation to allow her to have GCS while incarcerated, they were obligated to defend it.

Kinship" Isn't Enough -- Harris Must Be Accountable to Black People
When Harris discovered this case was happening, she worked behind the scenes to not only settle the case in favor of the trans inmates, but force the California Dept of Corrections & Rehabilitation to change the policy.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention she participated as a speaker at the 2005 SF Trans March.

I'm also tired of hearing the 'Kamala hates sex workers' BS as well.   She went after the pimps and sex traffickers, not the sex workers caught up un the system.

Angelica Ross and Kamala Harris
When Angelica Ross and Shea Diamond both questioned her about those cases, she apologized, and took responsibility for those cases.  Ross and Diamond were satisfied with her answers, and if they were good with it, so am I.

Warning you now.   KHive is not playing with you peeps (and neither am I) when we say that ANY disrespect of Senator Kamala Harris from now until Election Day and beyond will be met with massive pushback and CVS level receipts debunking lies and fake talking points.

You wanna try us, go right ahead, but it will end badly for you.

So no, I'm not feeling the hatred that trans fauxgressives are aiming at Harris, and it needs to stop.

2016 Vice Presidential Debate Tonight

It was clear to myself and other observers when it was over that Sec. Hillary Clinton spanked Donald Trump's incoherent behind in the first presidential debate.

So as we move toward the one and only debate between vice presidential candidates Sen. Tim Kaine (D) and Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R), the stakes are high for both sides.

Image result for elaine quijanoThis is also another historic debate moment in that we will have the first ever Asian-American journalist as a moderator for a national presidential or vice presidential debate in Elaine Quijano of CBS.

She's also at age 42, the youngest to do so since Judy Woodruff was tapped at age 41 to moderate a 1988 debate, and the first from a digital media outlet

And yeah Debate Commission, I repeat, your selection of debate moderators needs to be more diverse.

As they step onto the debate stage at Longwood University in Farmville, VA  Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine will have the job of keeping the momentum going that Clinton seized with her debate performance in front of 84 million viewers.   Republican vice presidential nominee Pence will have the job of trying to calm the nerves of distressed Trump supporters and stop the political bleeding unleashed by his out of control running mate.

Both Kaine and Pence in addition to introducing themselves on a national stage, will also have to demonstrate they will be capable of running this nation should the president become unable to perform their elected duties.

That's a concern for some voters because the presidential candidates at the top of the ticket if elected will be the oldest (Trump at 70), and second oldest (Clinton at 69) when they are inaugurated on January 20, and both vice presidential candidates are in their 50's

The viewing record for a vice presidential debate, just in case you're wondering about it, is 70 million viewers, which was set during the 2008 debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden, which may not be in any danger, but you never know.

Vice presidential debates over the last few presidential election cycles from 1976-2008 according to Gallup don't affect the overall race much,   The average they affect the polls have been about one point.

Bu the possibility of a memorable moment can happen as the 1988 vice presidential debate demonstrated. When Sen. Dan Quayle tried to compare himself in that debate to President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Lloyd Bentsen responded, "Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine.  You are no Jack Kennedy."

There was also this moment in the 2012 vice presidential debate in which Vice president Joe Biden as part of his demolition of Rep. Paul Ryan unleashed the "Oh, now you're Jack Kennedy" line at his challenger.

Will there moments like that in this 2016 vice presidential debate?   You'll have to tune in to find out.
The fun begins at 8 PM CDT

VP Biden: Transgender Rights Are The Civil Rights Issue Of Our Times

I've always liked Vice President Joe Biden for a number of reasons, but I have even more reason to love him according to a HuffPo report.

He was visiting an Obama for America field office in Sarasota, FL yesterday when he struck up a conversation with a woman who was there at the office that according to the pool report has 'beautiful eyes'.

Their conversation was inaudible to the pool reporters, but Biden is reported to have said it 'is the civil rights issue of our times'.  The woman in question was identified Sarasota resident Linda Carragher Bourne.

She said her daughter was Miss Trans New England and that she had asked Biden if he would help them.

"A lot of my friends are being killed, and they don't have the civil rights yet. These guys are gonna make it happen," Bourne told the reporter.

The commentary underscores the fact that when it comes to trans issues, the Obama Administration has been the best ever when it comes to trans human rights issues.  It's why many trans people supported him in 2008, and I'm proud as a trans African-American to see that a president who shares my ethnic background has been an ally to our community.

And as human rights warrior Julian Bond once said,  “The humanity of all Americans is diminished when any group is denied rights granted to others.”

Trans rights are a human rights issue, and anyone who thinks that we shouldn't have the same rights they do is making their own human rights less secure.

2012 Vice Presidential Debate Wrapup

Okay squishy liberals, you can calm the f@$k down now.   Vice President Joe Biden handed Congressman Paul Ryan his behind in their debate at Centre College in Danville, KY last night.

You conservafools disagree with that assessment?   Wasn't it y'all who said just last week if you're complaining about the moderator your side lost the debate?

Y'all were attacking Martha Raddatz before she even sat down at the table to ask her first question.   When your laughable (pun intended) rationale for declaring Ryan the winner is because Biden was 'smiling too much' and 'rude', yeah right.

Vice President Biden was combative, took him to school on foreign policy and called Ryan out on his kill Medicare voucher plan.   The vice POTUS also repeatedly whacked him with the Romney 47% remark and reminded people that Ryan said something just as damaging in that 30% of the Americn people were 'takers'.

One of the best moments of the night was while Ryan was railing about the stimulus and how 'horrible' it was, Biden busted him with the revelation that he'd written two letters on behalf of his district asking for that stimulus money.

Can you say 'hypocrite' boys and girls?   Thought you could.    That took Ryan from the Land of Policy Make Believe real fast on that subject.

Ryan also admitted that their ticket wants to kill Roe v Wade, which may prove problematic over the next 26 days with women voters in light of the vice POTUS reminding people the next president gets to select some Supreme Court justices who may determine whter Roe v Wade statys the law of the land.

But most importantly, Biden's win slowed the momentum that was starting to build  for the GOP after Denver and now sets President Obama up nicely for Tuesday's town hall debate on the Hofstra University campus.

Way to go Joe!

2012 Vice Presidential Debate Tonight

It's the Thrill In Danville, KY at 7 PM CDT, aka the Vice Presidential Debate between Vice President Joe Biden and challenger Rep. Paul Ryan.   Hopefully this will be more fun to watch than seeing last week's first presidential debate in which Mitt Romney lied for over and hour and a half and the POTUS admitted on the Tom Joyner Morning Show yesterday he was too polite in not responding to the non-stop lying.Mittens was doing.

While presidential debates usually don't determine who wins the election, this one may have the potential to do precisely that.   It's also going to be one that is watched by much of the American populace.

The 90 minute debate at Centre College will cover foreign affairs and domestic policy topics. Unlike last Wednesday’s presidential debate where both candidates stood behind podiums on a stage, in this debate, both candidates will be seated at a table for this discussion.

And hoping debate moderator Martha Raddatz of ABC doesn't allow herself to get run over and bullied ilike Jim Lehrer did.

Vice President Joe Biden's NAACP Speech

What a difference 24 hours makes and a huge contrast to Mitt v. 2012.  Check out what Vice President Joe Biden had to say to the enthusiastic huddled masses at the 103rd NAACP convention in Houston.

Note to Mitt and the Republifools:  This is how you respectfully talk to African-American voters, not in that fracked up condescending way you did.
