Don Lemon Is Right- We Need A Conversation In Black America About TBLGQ Issues

Don Lemon, CNN

“Because apologizing and moving on doesn’t make the world a better place for people who are gay or people who are transgender. Being an ally does.-Don Lemon

From time to time I have put Don Lemon on blast on these electronic pages for fumbling on trans issues.  But since the Orange Fool has been in power, he has been on fire in terms of calling crap out on a wide range of subjects.

DeGeneres put her own agenda ahead of the community she is a part of.
Now, he is taking on Kevin Hart's recent appearance on Ellen and Hart's comments that he wasn't to move on from the conversation.

Naw player, those of us in Black Trans, Bi and SGL World would submit that we have yet to even have this family discussion about transphobia and homophobia in Black World, and it needs to happen now.

Black trans people definitely wish to have this family conversation because toxic masculinity and toxic transphobia are killing us. |

Here's Don Lemon's on point CNN commentary

CNN's Don Lemon Puts Dolt 45 On Blast

Image result for don lemon cnn
You long time TransGriot reader know that over the history of this blog I've had my issues at times with CNN's Don Lemon.   But since Trump's election he has been calling out Dolt 45 on the regular and tellin' it like it T-I-S is.

After Dolt 45 made more racist tweets attacking him and Lebron James, Lemon took some time on his CNN show to put Dumb Donald on blast.

CNN Guns Town Hall

Image result for CNN town hall
For those of you who missed it, here's the  town hall that CNN broadcast featuring the students and parents of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School vs the NRA and Sen. Marco Rubio (NRA-FL)

Also taking part in this conversation that was moderated by CNN's  Jake Tapper  was Sen Ben Nelson (D-FL), Rep Ted Deutch (D-FL) and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel along with NRA shill spokesperson Dana Loesch .

As you probably guessed, coming a mere week after the mass shooting event that killed 17 people, it was contentious at times.

Here's the video of it.

April Ryan Calls Out Trump Racism

Today is the one year anniversary of Dear Orange Misleader's inauguration as POTUS that I thankfully missed because I was in a meeting at $CC17 at the time it happened.

I felt this presidency was going to be a disaster, said four days before his election that the humanity of trans people was on the ballot, and I haven't been wrong about that.

On CNN today a discussion about Trump's first disastrous year in the White House  ended up with CNN contributor April Ryan finally getting tired of Jack Kingston's ongoing attempt to defend Trump from being called what he is, a racist.

Sister April let him have it.   And here's the video to check it out.

Don Lemon Puts Trump On Blast For Racist Comment

Image result for Don Lemon cnn tonight
For years, I and others have been trying to tell you, the American people, that this man has been exhibiting bigoted behavior. I’ve asked him about it a number of times, and he denied, but kept up the racist rhetoric throughout the campaign and now while he’s in the White House.”-Don Lemon  January 11, 2018

CNN ain't playing with this misadministration any more.   They are calling Trump's orange azz out.

Don Lemon opened his show with the words 'The President of the United States is a racist' before going into his 'Don's Take' monologue    And he went all the way in on Trump, his voters and enablers.

Here's the video if you didn't see it/

Charles Blow Calls Out Trump Racism

I  had the opportunity to meet CNN commentator Charles Blow during one of the LGBT Media Journalists Convenings I attended n Baltimore, and I love his NY Times columns and takes on many issues.

Of course, he was called in when in the wake of Trump's comment about Haiti and other African nations as s***hole countries, and here's what he had to say about Trump, his base and his enablers at FOX Noise.

CNN, How Does A Show About 90's TV NOT Discuss 'A Different World'?

Image result for A different world
As a huge history buff, I have enjoyed watching the CNN documentary series that chronicles the events of the Sixties, the Seventies and the Eighties.

Last night the Nineties had its premiere and spent this initial two hour episode discussing nineties television.  It discussed not only the late night wars, the tabloidization of the news, Will and Grace, Ellen's coming out episode and the rise of cable TV.

It also talked about the golden era of Black TV shows and the use of the Black oriented shows by the fledgling FOX and WB networks to build their audience and networks, then kicking Black viewers to the curb for white ones once their survival was assured.

That's a two hour documentary by itself, but let me continue discussing the Nineties.

Image result for cnn the nineties
There was however, one glaring omission in last night's CNN show discussing 90's television that bugged me as I watched the initial episode of the Nineties to its conclusion.

It didn't talk about A Different World.

Image result for A Different World
CNN, how are you going to talk about 90's television and not talk about the groundbreaking television show that was credited with being   responsible for the increase in HBCU enrollment during the decade of the nineties?

A Different World may have started in 1987 as a Cosby show spinoff, but was on the air until 1993.   The show starting in its second season after Debbie Allen took over as producer of it realistically depicted HBCU life on the fictional Hillman College campus,   It also delved into subjects that HBCU college students of the late 80's- early 90's were dealing with.

Related imageIt not only discussed colorism, but discussed racism, sexism, date rape, pledging, South African divestment, the LA Riots, interracial relationships, the 1992 presidential election, the Sharazad Ali controversy and Desert Storm just to name a few of the issues the show tackled during its six season run. .

It also was the first show to tackle HIV/AIDS with the 'If I Should Die Before I Wake' episode that starred Tisha Campbell and Whoopi Goldberg.

A Different World also had a long list of people who did guest starring roles on that show who became major stars in their own right like Marisa Tomei, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Damon Wayans, Kristoff St John, Tupac Shakur, Eriq LaSalle, Jada Pinkett  Smith, Jenifer Lewis, and Halle Berry

So CNN, how does a show that spends two hours discussing 90's television totally whiff on not discussing one of the groundbreaking shows of that early part of the 90's in A Different World?

It was a glaring omission, and one that spoiled the opening episode of the Nineties for me.

Hope the Nineties is better in the next six subsequent episodes due to air than it was in this initial one..

Angela Rye tears into bigot during heated CNN segment news 1x1.trans

Don Lemon Shuts Down Trump Spokesliar

Image result for don lemon walks off
I've had my issues with CNN's Don Lemon at times, but lately he and his network have grown a backbone when it comes to confronting and pushing back against Trump misadministration spokespeople who come on their network to lie or spin.

Here's Lemon shutting down Trump spokesnegro Paris Dennard when he called a story in which they were discussing the cost of Trump's frequent trips to his Florida estate 'fake news'.

Watch Lemon calling Dennard's azz out

.

Bravo for calling out Dennard's lying behind.

The Conservative Movement Is One Of Oppression

Image result for Angela Rye
I keep telling y'all how much I love CNN's Angela Rye for telling it like it T-I-S is and calling people out for BS.

Earlier today on CNN she put Trump supporter Steve Higbie on blast for trying to float those tired 'Party of :Lincoln' and party of Martin Luther King' lies

I'll go a step further than Angela was able to do in that segment and say that the entire conservative movement is one of oppression.

Angela Rye Schools Lying GOP Pundits Again

CNN panelists on Anderson Cooper 360 (YouTube)
I love CNN pundit Angela Rye who is always on point and doesn't let conservafools get away with trying to peddle disinformation on her watch

The latest example of Ms. Rye handling her pundit business is in this discussion on Anderson Cooper 360 that drifted into voter suppression territory

Thank you Angela for keeping the conservafools in check.

Angela Rye Blasts GOP Pundit For Defending Rape Culture

One of the people I love seeing when she does appear on TV to set people straight is Angela Rye.

You've got to check out this video of Angela calling out the ridiculousness of Kayleigh McEnany for the GOP wide talking point of trying to blame Hillary Clinton for her hubby's affairs.

I guess by that same standard, Melania Trump is to blame for he's husband's nekulturny behavior.

Check out Angela Rye snatching Kayleigh's wig on air.

Jillian Weiss Appearing Again On CNN Legal View

I guess CNN loves Dr. Jillian Weiss as much as I and the trans community does.

After her May 9 appearance on Legal View With Ashleigh Banfield to discuss the legal issues surrounding HB 2, Dr Weiss will be back on CNN again at 12 noon EDT/11 AM CDT to discuss not only HB 2, but the recent declaration by the DOJ that they will do everything possible to protect trans people and today's Department of Education decree..

Should be an interesting and informative discussion from one of our community's wonderful attorneys.  If you want to hear how this affect us trans folks legally from someone who has tried and won trans civil rights cases, then you need to tune in if possible..

Once CNN posts the video from this latest conversation, I'll post it on the blog.,

Dr. Jillian Weiss Talks About The DOJ HB 2 Challenge On CNN

Earlier today on CNN attorney Dr. Jillian T. Weiss was on CNN's Legal View With Ashleigh Banfield to discuss the unjust HB 2 and the ramifications on the DOJ letter sent to Gov McCrory and the University of North Carolina.

I've been saying for a while that HB 2 was unconstitutional and a violation of Romer v. Evans., but I'm going to defer to my friends in the legal profession to let me know whether I'm on the right legal path here and if HB 2 could be the trans version of that landmark Romer v Evans case.

And now, for those of you who missed it earlier today, here's the video from Dr. Jillian Weiss' appearance on Legal View with Ashleigh Banfield.

Piers Morgan Starts Tripping After Janet Calls Him Out Over Interview

After Janet Mock called Piers Morgan out for sensationalizing her CNN interview with her, Piers Morgan took to Twitter to strike back and call her 'ungrateful'.

For what Oh Mighty Media Whitey?   You mad and got your vanillacentric privileged fee fees hurt because the Black trans woman called your azz out for disrespecting her on your show and she and the trans community are pushing back?

The chyron your peeps used was problematic to start with. But as Janet said in her BuzzFeed interview:

“This is my first mainstream television show, was that moment, with Piers Morgan, and you see what they did to my story. Compared to a moment if I’m on Melissa Harris-Perry, which is slightly different, a more sensitive and safe space. But I go onto Piers Morgan, and all of my followers and everyone are like, ‘What is this?’” she said. But, she noted, “It’s also more representative of the ignorance that there is about trans people’s lives. We’re out of the safe bubble of social justice.”

Frankly, we in the trans community are beyond sick and tired of being sick and tired of the six decade old focus on our genitalia in the media.  If you didn't get that fracking message last month after the Katie Couric interview with Laverne Cox and Carmen Carrera, here's the wakeup call once again.

As a matter of fact, watch the Melissa Harris-Perry show and check out the proper way to do an interview with a trans woman.

Janet Mock On CNN Tomorrow

Our trans TV appearances runneth over lately.  It was Tiq and Christina today, and will be Janet Mock tomorrow on CNN.

She'll be on Piers Morgan's show st 8 PM CST to talk about her book Redefining Realness which will be released February 4

I'm so looking forward to reading her book and hope that you folks will show her some love when she shows up in your neck of the woods during her book tour.

Let's also do our part to make this book a New York Times best Seller.

Looking forward to hearing what Janet has to say on Piers' show, and yes, as soon as the video is available, I'll post it to my blog.

TransGriot Update:  Janet's appearance has now been postponed until Wednesday night.

Tiq and Christina's CNN Appearance

I mentioned that GLAAD"s Tiq Milan and ESPN sportswriter and GLAAD board member Christina Kahrl appeared on the CNN show Reliable Sources this morning to discuss the reporting fails, the outing and the salacious article that may have played a role in the suicide of Dr Essay Anne Vanderbilt..

Here's the video from their show this morning for those of you who missed it.

Don Lemon Schools A Conservafool On His Vanillacentric Privilege

I've been hard on Don Lemon for his trans fails, but have to give him his props for schooling conservafool Ben Ferguson on his privilege and his knee jerk reaction to President Obama's remarks last Friday on the Zimmerman verdict.

Black In America-Who Is Black In America?

I know many people in the African-American community have had lukewarm reactions (myself included) about the CNN 'Black In America' series hosted by Soledad O'Brien.

After having a chat with Niece (AKA Dr. Kaila A. Story) I'm going to give it another chance in this episode that features the research of Dr. Yaba Blay.  In its latest incarnation that debuts on December 9, they will tackle the topic of colorism in our community.

What makes someone Black in America?   Is it skin color? History? Culture? All of the above?

It's also an issue that Soledad has personal expecience with because she has a Black Cuban mother and claims both her Black and Latina heritage.

The latest episode of the Black In America series will tackle that topic starting at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT.

Why Conservafools Hate Media That Asks Questions

Because they falter when their tried and true talking points get refuted and they can't answer questions from journalists that won't spoon feed them questions like they get in the conservamedia or Fox Noise.

Watch the Tea Klux Klan's Amy Kremer go down in flames (snicker snicker) while trying and failing to spin on CNN
