'Work It' Cancelled!

The transphobic and controversial ABC show Work It debuted on January 3 to lower ratings than the Man Up! show it replaced.

After losing another 20 per cent of its audience despite following Tim Allen's highly rated Last Man Standing show Work It was canceled after airing only two episodes.

Good riddance.  Not only did transpeople hate the show, so did the Puerto Rican community and women's groups.

Work It drew a 2.0 rating in the adult 18-49 demographic and 6.1 million viewers in its debut episode but the second airing only garnered a 1.6 rating and 5.1 million viewers.

Let this be a lesson for you programming execs.  When a marginalized community tells you that a proposed television show is problematic, that should be a clue for you that indicates something is seriously wrong with it and motivate you to correct the problems they address.

If Paul Lee, ABC and the producers of this program would have listened to or worked with representatives of the trans community in the first place to retool it, they could have avoided this debacle.

Instead, they arrogantly plunged forward with this sorry ripoff of Bosom Buddies and paid the price for it.
