Champion Found Guilty In Ty Underwood Murder

There's good news coming out of Tyler this Christmas season concerning one of our fallen trans sisters who was taken away from us earlier this year.

On Tuesday the trial of 21 year old former Texas College football player Carlton Ray Champion, Jr. commenced in Tyler for the January 26 murder of girl like us Ty Underwood.

Champion and Underwood had been in a relationship, and text messages indicate the pair had been arguing several hours before Underwood was found shot to death in her vehicle near the Texas College campus.

The trial lasted three days with the state calling several witnesses.  Champion's defense attorney Melvin Thompson rested his case without calling any witnesses, but asserted at the beginning of the trial they arrested the wrong person.

Champion's defense attorney asserted in his closing statement that the state lacked the evidence to convict his client.

"Not a single police officer got up on the stand and testified that any evidence connected Champion," he said. " The police didn't let the facts lead them to the suspect.   They got a suspect and then tried to find evidence."

Prosecuting attorney Jacob Putnam in his closing statement, went into detail about the dating relationship between Champion and Underwood, and her trans status.

"This case is not about convicting Champion because of his lifestyle or who he hung out with," said Putnam. "This case is about convicting Champion because he killed Ty Underwood."

After deliberating the case for two hours, the jury found Champion guilty of first degree murder.

After the guilty verdict was read, Champion had to be restrained by Smith County deputies after he shouted "I'll be back on the streets."

We'll see about that, homes. The jury still isn't finished with your behind yet/and you have previous brushes with the law.

The punishment phase of the trial starts at 9:30 AM CST, and Champion is facing life in prison.   Here's hoping you get to do some serious time for ending Ty Underwood's too brief life.

Joanne Cassar Gets Married In Malta!

Photo - Jason Borg

The landmark Araguz v. Delgado marriage case here in Texas has finally been resolved, but one of the cases I was watching in Malta that involved trans woman Joanne Cassar was settled after an 8 year battle that took it on the verge of being heard by the European Court of Human Rights and it becoming an issue in a 2013 Maltese national election that resulted in the ruling party getting swept out of power.

After her successful nearly eight year battle in which the Maltese government fighting her was ousted at the polls and the new one settled the case, Joanne Cassar could finally exhale.

She also got to watch as a nondisclosed Maltese trans woman followed the trail Cassar blazed and made history to became the first to get married in their island nation.

So what has happened since Cassar won her long marriage fight?  She finally got the opportunity to walk down the aisle and say 'I do" to her new husband on March 31

Cassar got married to her husband Kurstin on that date, and as you probably guessed she was thrilled that the day she'd fought so hard to make happen is finally a reality.

Say hello to Mrs. Joanne Sciberras Edwards, and hope that she and her hubby have a long, happy and healthy marriage.

Serena's 2015 SI Sportsperson Of The Year Acceptance Speech

Y'all know I'm ride or die for Serena Williams, and was pleased to hear that she was named the 2015 Sportsperson of the Year.   She became the first woman to win the prestigious award by herself and not as part of a team since 1983.

And then Serena's racist haters unleashed their vitriol, with some of those racist haters being on the LA Times payroll.  I had my say about it along with other social commentators.

But here's Serena in a dropping the mic moment as she accepted the award and dropped some truth nukes while doing so.

Just an FYI haters, the Australian Open starts January 18   Hope that's the start of a Golden Slam for one of my fave tennis players and the Greatest Of All Time, if not her generation.

2015 TransGriot NFL Picks-Week 15

Embedded image permalink

Ho Ho Ho!  I;m feeling merry since I finally caught Mike, and I'm in position to claim my first prognostication title since 2012

But we still have three weeks to go and from now on all of the games will have massive playoff seeding implications.  For the teams not in playoff contention, drafting positions are on the line.

Something else that is on the line for my fave NFL ballers is the AFC South title.   They are unfortunately on a two game losing streak, and go play the Colts in Indianapolis, a place where they have never won as a franchise.   Well, sooner or later they have to win a game in Indy, but will this be the year they do so?

Speaking of streaks, will the Panthers stay perfect?  After their game with the Giants, they face the fading Falcons and the  Buccaneers

And yeah, time for me to go on my late season kick to the title.

Ty Underwood Murder Trial Starts In Tyler

Ty Underwood

After a delay because the defense attorney's motion for more time to prepare a defense for his client was granted, the trial of 21 year old Carlton Champion, Jr, the alleged killer and former boyfriend of Ty Underwood got started in Tyler Tuesday.

KYTX CBS19.tv - News, Weather,

The 24 year old Underwood was killed back in January, and Champion was arrested January 29 and charged with first degree murder.  His defense attorney is trying to claim that police have the wrong guy, while prosecutors say otherwise.

Let's hope we get an early Christmas present of justice for Ty.

Should Have Voted For HERO

Well, as those of us who supported HERO tried to tell you peeps who fell for the GOP okey doke and lies back on November 3, the HERO ordinance was about providing a local remedy to combat Houston area discrimination for 15 categories.   It wasn't just an LGBT ordinance or about the bathrooms.

But because of your lack of human rights vision, 61% of you are now discovering too late you got played and you fell for the right-wing anti-trans scare tactics.   As the GOP and the conservafool movement celebrated that night how stupid y'all were and the sellout ministers got kicked to the curb after fulfilling their mission for the white GOP oppressors, our much needed human rights law was repealed.

We are now back to the jacked up human rights situation we had in H-town prior to HERO's passage in May 2014.

The latest person who is discovering the hard way they were hoodwinked and bamboozled by Dave Welch, Steven Hotze and sellout friends, tweeted to Mayor Parker about their problem.

Mayor Parker dropped the truth nuke about what their only expensive option is to combat the H-town discrimination they faced.

Well, I hope that when 2016 rolls around and it comes up with the new mayor and city council, you'll support HERO 2.0 passage and implementation.

Until then, the folks who were doing the H-town discriminating will gleefully continue to do so until they can't or are made to pay for their human rights crimes.

Don't Forget This Groundbreaking Black Trans Character

Actress Karla Mosley made headlines in 2015 for her portrayal of Maya Avant on the CBS soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." Avant is the first transgender character in daytime television.

But one thing I would love to see is a fictional trans woman, and especially a transwoman of color play a professional character who happens to be a trans woman more often-TransGriot,  November 16, 2013

As we enter the last two weeks of 2015, the Best Of 2015 articles and 2015 list articles are multiplying.  One of those lists is one that has been compiled by Autostraddle about LGBT television characters.

The Bold and the Beautiful
While Autostraddle has been on point about discussing trans topics including trans media representation, they touched upon some of the trans characters on TV and noted that a separate article specifically focusing on trans characters was forthcoming. in this initial Best of one they continued to miss the trans character that is the most groundbreaking one in Maya Avant on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.

It's groundbreaking for several reasons.  The character played by actress Karla Mosley is a major one on the soap as Forrester Creations lead model, and one of the few African-American lead characters in the soap world.   She is also the first African-American trans character on daytime television.

Yes, the Maya Avant character is at BFD, especially when far too often the television characters who look like me have either far too often been sex workers, drag ones that gets killed in the first ten minutes of the show, or only show up once on the show like 1977's Edie Stokes on The Jeffersons.

Since Maya's reveal as a trans woman in March, we have gotten to meet her sister Nicole, played by Reign Edwards and see that relationship evolve from an adversarial one to one in which Nicole is her loving sister who in one of the current B&B storylines involving the Avant family is acting as the surrogate mother to Rick and Maya's child.

The Bold and Beautiful

We have met Maya and Nicole's parents Vivienne and Julius Avant. played by veteran actors Anna Maria Horsford and Obba Babatunde, and see her marry the love of her life in Rick Forrester.

We have even met Maya's friend Nick, played by trans man Scott Turner Schofield.  Nick met Maya when she first moved to Los Angeles from Chicago and before the subsequent fame and success for her.  He serves as her adviser, her link to the rest of the trans community, and reminds her that she is beautiful and deserves to be loved as her authentic self..

Schofield is also making history as the first trans man with a recurring role on a daytime television show.

So yes, while Laverne's Sophia Burset on Orange Is The New Black has gotten some well deserved attention and even Emmy nominations, Karla Mosley's Maya Avant character deserves just as much attention and discussion for expanding the way we think about and see Black trans women portrayed on television.

'Girl Meets World' Gets A Third Season

Embedded image permalink

Y'all know how much I love the show Girl Meets World, which is a Boy Meets World sequel on Disney Channel focused on Corey and Topanga's teen daughter Riley and her tight knit group of friends as the negotiate the challenges of growing up and navigating middle school.

Embedded image permalinkThe show is produced by the same team that produced Boy Meets World, and over its two seasons it has exceeded expectations in being just as good as the original show in addition to being a ratings winner for the Disney Channel. .

The other fun part has been seeing how they have weaved in some of the old BMW characters into this new show.  Riley has had visits over the first two season from her Uncle Josh, Uncle Eric, Uncle Shawn, her paternal grandparents Amy and Alan and soon Aunt Morgan.

George Feeny and Jonathan Turner have also popped up along with Angela, Jack, TJ Murphy and coning soon in the third season Rachel.   Hopefully we'll also see visits from Topanga's family as the show progresses.

We have also seen Stuart Minkus and Jennifer Bassett Minkus, who are the parents of Farkle Minkus, part of Riley close knit group of friends.  Shawn Hunter is beginning to date Katy Hart, the mother of Riley's best friend forever Maya Hart.

Embedded image permalinkAnd yes, there is Lucas Friar, the handsome Texan whose friendship with Riley is or may turn into something more.

I received an early Christmas present when it was announced last month that Girl Meets World was being renewed for a third season, and production of those third season episodes will start in January.

Y'all Still Hatin' On Serena

Was happy to find out that Sports Illustrated chose Serena Williams as their 2015 Sportsperson of the Year, and deservedly so.

When you come within two sets of accomplishing a tennis feat that hasn't been successfully completed since 1988, you dominated your sport so thoroughly at age 34 that the biggest news in it was you losing in the US Open semis, yeah, you deserve it.

But there are some folks out there, starting with the LA Times who were hatin' on my fave tennis playing sibling and showed their racist  behinds by disrespectfully running a poll comparing her with a horse.and transmisogynist horse racing fans showing their asses on Twitter.

Bet you wouldn't do the same thing to Maria Sharapova, who BTW, wishes she had 1/10th of Serena's talent along with the rest of the European glamazons she routinely beats on the WTA tour.

This ongoing racist and trans misogynistic hatred of her unapologetically Black self is why I and the rest of Black America love her and gleefully celebrate Serena's Grand Slam wins and mourn when she loses in Grand Slam tournaments.

And I and Black America are tired of you vanillacentric privileged haters attacking her femininity.

And with the 2016 tennis schedule about to kick off with the first Grand Slam tournament of the year being the Australian Open from January 18-31, frankly I'm hoping Serena uses it as a springboard to accomplishing the Golden Slam in 2016.

What's the Golden Slam?   Winning all four tennis majors plus the Olympic singles gold medal in a calendar year, which is what Steffi Graf accomplished in 1988.

And speaking of Graf, with one more Grand tournament win, she ties Steffi for all time Grand Slam tournament wins, and Margaret Court's 24 wins are in striking range of Serena this upcoming season as well.

Go Serena!  See y'all haters in Melbourne next month for the Australian Open.

Who Will Be The 2015 Shut Up Fool Of The Year?

One of the most popular features o my soon to be ten year old blog is the weekly Shut Up Fool Award posts in which I call the fools out who deserve it..

Shut Up Fool Awards is one of my TransGriot New Year's Eve traditions in which on December 31,  I take the time to honor the person, persons or group who had a year's worth of WTF moments with the TransGriot Shut Up Fool of the Year Award.

The inaugural winner of the Shut Up Fool of the Year Award in 2009 was then RNC chair Michael Steele   He was followed by Sarah Palin in 2010, Herman Cain snagged the honor over some stiff competition in 2011 followed by runaway 2012 winner Mitt Romney.

In 2013 the Shut Up Fool of Year winner was the junior senator from Alberta, Ted Cruz.   He made a late run to snag the 2013 Shut Up Fool of The Year honors.

In 2014 the Shut Up Fool of the Year award stayed in Texas with Rep Louie Gohmert getting it over some stiff competition

Who will get it in 2015?   Will it be Donald Trump?  Ben Carson?  Ted Cruz?  Or will it be a group award for Fox Noise?  The Republican Party?

You'll find out on New Year's Eve.

The Transgender National Alliance Gala-Petite Is A Success

The first ever Transgender National Alliance Gala-Petite on Friday night was an amazing sold out event at Blue By Massa's downtown in which the Houston trans community and our allies got glammed up to raise money for TNA and have a wonderful time.

And yeah, a certain blogger y'all know was in the house as well.

The theme for this inaugural TNA Gala was Metro Glam, and folks in attendance were dressed in the style of rock meets Grammy purple carpet in this case.  We also sat down to a delicious meal as Vancie Vega handled her business and did an amazing job as our Mistress of Ceremonies.

We were also blessed to have at this initial TNA gala the lovely Durga McBroom serenading us with her lovely and powerful voice.

In addition, the inaugural TNA Be Amazing Award was given to TransTech founding CEO Angelica Ross, who has had a wonderful 2015 with her upcoming star turn in the web series Her Story and hope 2016 is even more exciting for her.

In addition, there was a silent auction and door prizes to raise money for TNA's work as a nonpartisan non-profit organization that seeks to recognize, celebrate and employ the diversity of the transgender community while providing funding, outreach education and support for the issues affecting our community and our allies.

Was nice seeing everyone there including our friend Lauryn Farris from San Antonio and her daughter Izzy.   Looking forward to seeing what transpires for this wildly successful TNA event and what they will pull off in 2016.

Houston City Council Will Have Two Progressive Women of Color In 2016

I and many other progressive Houstonians have lamented about CM Ellen Cohen and Mayor Parker being the only progressive women on council in contrast to the conservative CM Brenda Stardig, and the fact we have had zero women of color on it since CM Wanda Adams was term limited off of council in 2012

One of the other joys of Saturday's runoff election is that when January 2, 2016  rolls in, we will have two progressive women of color joining in Councilmembers-elect Amanda Edwards and Karla Cisneros who I hope will get to serve their full terms on Houston City Council.

On January 2, thanks to the passage of Prop 2, the terms for all Houston city officeholders have been changed to where they  serve two four year terms, instead of  three two year terms or six years maximum.   The four year terms take effect in 2019..

One of the new progressive omen councilmembers is Councilmember-elect Amanda Edwards. She will take office in January in the At Large Position 4 seat in The Horseshoe to replace the term limited CM C.O. 'Brad' Bradford.  I had the pleasure of meeting the native Houstonian back in March at the HRC Houston Gala, and believe she has the right stuff to not only have a shot becoming mayor, but possibly higher public offices.

Councilmember-elect Karla Cisneros is no stranger to Houston politics.  She's a  teacher who served six  years on the HISD board and served as board president.  She will be replacing term limited District H CM Ed Gonzalez, who will be running for Harris County Sheriff (hallelujah)

On January 2. CM Cohen is going to get some help (not that she needed it) with two more progressive women yo join her in the Horseshoe, and it has been a much needed development.

ESPA Sells Out NY Trans Community One Last Time

ESPA2

I have not been a fan of the Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA), and my dislike of the organization goes back to them throwing the New York trans community under the human rights bus and lying to Sylvia Rivera on her deathbed in 2002 when gender identity language was cut out of SONDA.

ESPA made the usual 'we'll come back for you' incremental progress promises lies in 2002 to bust their behinds to get human rights coverage in New York State for trans people that were once again broken and put on the back burner in 2011 when they raised their appletini glasses and pushed gay marriage through the NY senate as GENDA, the proposed trans rights bill that has passed the NY Assembly for multiple consecutive sessions was stalled in the NY Senate.

In a shocking except to the trans community move, ESPA announced they are shutting down, claiming that with the signing by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of the trans rights executive orders, they have accomplished their mission.

No boo boo kitties, you haven't.  Until GENDA is passed, you HAVEN'T accomplished your human rights mission because trans rights executive orders do not equal passed legislation with teeth on the NY legal books as you New York gay and lesbian peeps have enjoyed since 2002. And all it takes as we have observed repeatedly at the federal level and around the country since 1992 is a change in governors or a POTUS to erase those executive orders.

I find it interesting that ESPA felt like their job was done in a time when trans New Yorkers are still being beaten and killed for living their trans truth and an anti-trans flavored right wing backlash is building that will be relentless in attempting to roll back and eviscerate everything that was painstakingly accomplished.

I also found it ironic that the guy responsible for throwing the trans community under the bus in 2002, then ESPA ED Matt Foreman, blasted the move

As for the assertion that organizations have a life cycle, the NAACP has been around for over a century because the missions of the NAACP have changed since their founding, and once they accomplish one goal, they adapt to the times.

As for trans New Yorkers?   Well, looks like you've been sold out by ESPA for the last time as they make the moves to shutter the doors of the organization after the ball drops in Times Square to usher in 2016.  .

Well trans New Yorkers, looks like you're on your own in getting GENDA and other community organizing priorities done.

But I have no doubts that once y'all figure out your options and come up with a solid multi year plan to make it happen, you'll get it done.

10 Things You're Saying When You Ignore Someone's Gender Pronouns

Embedded image permalink

One of the quickest and easiest ways to show a trans person that you respect them is to use their preferred pronouns.  But there are people who for various reasons, either continue to use the wrong pronouns to the irritation of the trans person in question or willfully do so.

I like this meme, and while I didn't create it, I visualized its ten points as a way to expound on the importance of cis folks using the  pronouns that match our gender presentation,

When you're done reading it, I want y'all to realize that when you deliberately fail to recognize a trans person's preferred pronouns, it is taken by the trans person as a sign of blatant disrespect. You are also  subliminally sending a message to the trans person in question you don't care about or recognize them as the |human beings they are now.

Shall we begin?

1.  I know you better than you know yourself

We see this smug attitude crop up far too often in social media and elsewhere.

Naw cis homies and homettes, you don't.  Neither do you have the ability to tell what my chromosomes are or figure out my trans status just by looking at me.  Just get it through those skulls that trans men are men, trans women are women.

2.  I would rather hurt you repeatedly than change the way I speak about you.

We understand in Trans World that it takes time for family and friends to get used to your transition. But when we're pushing five, ten, twenty years post transition and you still are misgendering and deadnaming the trans person in question, you're being a microaggressive azzhole

3.  Your sense of safety is not important to me.
This is a pet peeve of many trans people, and especially trans women.  When you cis women mad because a trans woman is performing femininity better than you in the 'hood or the club sashay over to the cis male she's talking to or is making goo goo eyes at her and whisper 'That's a man' in his ear, you are setting that trans woman up not only for a hate crime, but legal trouble for yourself if the trans woman gets hurt or killed.  Some of us trans women just got it like that, so chill with that shady (and dangerous) crap.

And it's not cool to do this to a trans man either.  It opens them up to a beat down or worse.

4.  Your identity isn't real and shouldn't be acknowledged.

I don't care what your pastor, the TERF's, the GOP or other assorted haters said, a trans person knows their gender identity better than you and you need to respect and acknowledge that.  If you can't, as far as we trans peeps are concerned, you aren't a decent human being.

5.   I want to teach everyone around me to disrespect you.

The TERF's have been trying to do that since 1973 and now the right wing trans haters are doing so for political purposes.  They will fail because of the increased visibility of trans people.

6.   Offending you is fine if it makes me more comfortable.

When you are willfully offending me for your own selfish reasons, don't get mad when I diss you or start crying foul when I call you out for being a transphobic azzhole.

7.   I can hear you talking, but I'm not really listening.

And if you're not listening, then what's the point in me trying to educate you on my issues or tell you my trans story?

8.   Being who you truly are is an inconvenience to me.

I've spent a lot of time engaged in hard solid thinking about being trans, lots of money, and gone through hell to be me.  If it's an inconvenience for you to respect that and use the correct pronouns, then you need to step out of my life.

9.  I would prefer it if you stopped being honest with me.

If you can't handle my trans truth, buh bye.   Can't help it if you're insecure about your own gender identity or being our unapologetic selves bothers you.

10.  I am not an ally, a friend, or someone you can trust.

We don't need toxic frenemies in our lives because we get enough crap from the rest of the world about our lives or who don't have our backs.  There are others out there who are loving and kind enough to be ride or die friends for us, and those are the people I'd rather spend time with.

The Next Houston Mayor Is..

Mayor-elect Sylvester Turner celebrates his victory at his Election Night watch party at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Dec. 12. Photo: Jon Shapley, Houston Chronicle / © 2015 Houston Chronicle
Sylvester Turner!

The Houston runoff election was yesterday with early voting concluding on Wednesday.  \It was tight, but thanks to the voters in the Ft. Bend County southwest section of the city, the early vote, and the unions that knocked on doors and turned out the vote, the kid from Acres Homes that grew up to attend the University of Houston, Harvard Law and has repped his old neighborhood for 26 years in the Texas Lege will be our next mayor.

When he is inaugurated as our 62nd mayor in January, Turner will become the second African-American mayor of Houston, but the first African-American Houstonian to be elected to the job.

Turner surprisingly came out of early voting when it closed Wednesday with a healthy 4% point lead, but the King voters came out to play today and made it a nailbiting evening.   The overwhelming 3728-227 Turner win in Ft. Bend County put him over the top, and King conceded at 10:35 PM.

And in this one, every vote counted.

In his victory speech at the George R. Brown Convention Center Mayor-elect Turner promised to be a mayor for all Houstonians.

"In this room tonight you see a reflection of the City of Houston.  Whether you voted for me or not as we move forward is irrelevant.  As far as I'm concerned, from this day as we move forward, I will do my very, very, very best to represent every single Houstonian in this city, whether you voted for me or not. Every part of this city deserves to be represented."

And yeah will be reminding you from tonight through this first term that trans Houstonians live in the 700 square miles of Texas soil we call home and are some of the 2.2 million Houstonians you'll represent starting in January.

Looks like I'll need to make plans to be at this historic inauguration at the Wortham Theater in January and the first city council public comment meeting in 2016 to remind the mayor-elect and the new council members that trans people are Houstonians, too

Naw Bill King, You Are The Problem

And I don't want you vanillacentric privileged teabagging behind in the mayor's chair.

You couldn't even run Kemah efficiently, so what makes you and the Tea Klux Klan think you can run my hometown?  Not no but hell no.

Don't let this man become the next Houston mayor.  Take your behinds to the polls toady and make sure this transphobe doesn't get elected to office.

Carmen And Adrian Get Married!

The VH-1 series Couples Therapy has featured Carmen Carrera and her longtime fiance Adrian Torres working out their relationship issues on this season of the show as she drops some knowledge on trans issues at the same time with the other peeps participating in this year's edition of it.

In a year in which we have seen a fictional trans person in Maya Avant get married to the love of her life on the CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful,  watched Nikki Araguz Loyd win her protracted multiyearTexas legal battle to validate her marriage and take down the odious Littleton v Prange case at the same time, see Janet Mock marry her fiance Aaron Treadwell in her home state, and follow Precious Davis and Myles Brady as they prepare for their own wedding next year, it was nice to see this happen for Carmen and Adrian

Congrats Carmen and Adrian!   may you ave a long healthy and happy marriage.

The Houston based Transgender National Alliance is in two hours kicking off its inaugural Gala-Petite at Blue By Massa's.  And yeah, you know I'll be in the house to check it out.

This gala also includes a night of red carpet fun, champagne, gourmet buffet, a swag bag along with a raffle ticket for amazing prize,s a performance by Durga McBroom Hudson from Pink Floyd, door prizes and since it's the holiday season, an appearance by Bad Santa..

Shut Up Fool Awards- December Dufus Edition

Is it just me noticing it, or has their been  a societal explosion of stupidity lately?  The ignorati are running wild, facts don't matter and whole networks have sprung up that verity the paranoid delusions of 20% of the population.

It seems that idiocy has really taken hold in the Republican party and the race for their POTUS nomination.  The clown Airbus is still full despite losing some of their village idiot candidates.

And we are still several weeks away from the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary, so the cray-cray will continue for another dew weeks.

Well, let's move on to your fave feature on this blog people and announce this week's Shut Up Fool Awards.

Honorable mention number one is Donald Trump for the usual fascist crap and hijinks

Honorable mention number two is Bill King, the Houston mayoral candidate supported by Ted Cruz who still is pimping the bathroom meme on the eve of the runoff election

Honorable mention number three is Abigail Fisher, who is crying White Women's Tears about affirmative action because her mediocre ass didn't getting into UT because of her grades, blamed it on Black people, already filed one suit that was heard by the SCOTUS and lost, and the SCOTUS heard her tears and her case again..

Honorable mention number four is Come and Take It Texas, a open carry group that wanted to stage a mock mass shooting on the UT campus during finals until the administration told them they would be arrested for criminal trespassing if they did.

Guess they forgot about that mass shooting that happened on the UT campus back on August 1, 1966

Kprvoaul8rvdmwppw5doThis week's Shut Up Fool winner is SCOTUS Injustice Antonin Scalia,.who opened his mouth in the oral arguments Wednesday in the Fisher v. University of Texas affirmative action case and let something racist fly out of it

I'm about to go Maya Wilkes again on this one.

Looks like Princeton and Harvard Law weren't 'too advanced' for the POTUS and FLOTUS and thousands of other grads of PWI's (predominately white institutions), and how dare you open your racist mouth to say something that ignorant.

Rep Elijah Cummings (D-MD) also dropped the hammer on Injustice Scalia

Scalia is a living example of what I have said more than a few times on this blog and elsewhere in that the most dangerous bigots are the ones with the power to write legislation or who like Scalia, sit in judicial seats.

Injustice Antonin Scalia, shut up fool!

'Go To College' Video

First Lady Michelle Obama and SNL cast member Jay Pharoah rap about college in a new College Humor video. (Screen grab courtesy of College Humor)

In order to help push the message of the FLOTUS' 'Better Make Room' initiative that launched back in October and encourages kids to go to college, First Lady Michelle Obama and SNL cast member Jay Pharaoh teamed up to do a video to promote it.

And yes, the FLOTUS briefly spits some rhymes in it.  South siiiiide!

Here's the video.
