Duh, Bill Maher-Conservafools Hate The POTUS

Duh, we African-Americans have been saying this for years    And no white liberals, some of y'all have been  just as bad as the conservafools in terms of disrespecting President Obama.

But I didn't call him (Dubya) that to his face.  Nor would I if I had the chance.  And that is the difference.

Now, the deal we have always had with Presidents is that we smile and talk nice to them when they're in front of us.  And then we cut them down and say horrible nasty things behind their backs.  This has always worked for 8th grade girls, and it's always worked for the United States of America.

But there is something about this president that makes conservatives think it’s okay to go ape shit in his presence. They didn’t do this Carter, an actual pacifist, or Clinton who really did have a plan for universal health care, or LBJ, who actually made it easier for poor people to vote and eat. All of them clearly, evil America haters, but they got treated with a modicum of respect, at least to their faces.

Not Obama. What can it be that’s different about him?

It’s either his race, or it’s your brain chemistry, or it’s something that happened when you dad spanked you and liked it, and you were looking at a box of Cream of Wheat. I don’t know. I’m not a therapist. Maybe, it’s not race? I don’t know what’s in people’s hearts. Except Newt Gingrich, I know what’s in his heart, lust and cheese fries.

But this type of in the room, in your face, in your space respect disrespect is new. Admit that, and I will admit that of course, something like impeaching Clinton was far more serious, but it was also at least in some ways more respectful. It was done with high pomp through official channels. It was all about the rule of law, and the Chief Justice wore a special robe he got from a musical, or something, and somehow that is a lot more respectful than this.

Not that if Obama ever did anything like Clinton did, he would even be alive. Can you imagine what they would do if they ever found out Obama had sex with a White House intern on Easter? Talk about colored eggs. He would have been impeached two times, one for each testicle. This president has had to be the Caesar’s wife of Pennsylvania Avenue, the Jackie Robinson of American politics, never reacting to the taunts from the stands. But after you do this to try to get his goat, what’s next? A wedgie? A purple nurple?
Gov. Brewer said she did this because she felt threatened. Right, like Obama ran his finger down his blouse and said, ‘you my white princess.’

It's Fat Tuesday-All Hail The Zulus!

My New Orleans area readers probably won't be perusing the blog today unless it's on their smartphones because they are out there getting their Mardi Gras 2012 party on.

Today is Fat Tuesday and one of the highlights of today's parades is the Krewe of Zulu Social  Aid & Pleasure Club that started at 8 AM CST.

The krewe has been around for over 100 years and is the only predominately Black krewe that has the distinction of holding its parade on Mardi Gras Day.

Being elected King Zulu is a major honor in the New Orleans Black community, and some of the people who have served as Zulu King and Queen over the organization's history are Louis Armstrong, and current CEO of Johnson Publishing Company Desiree Glapion Rogers

When I lived in New Orleans, it was a must see parade.   It took a major hit post-Katrina but has survived and continues to build on its proud history and tradition.

Now can a sister get a Zulu coconut please?

For those of you in the Tucson area who read my blog, many of you know that in a week I'll be on your end of Interstate 10 next Tuesday speaking on the University of Arizona campus.

The title of it is: TransGriot: Blogging at the Intersection of Race and Gender and it'll be happening at the  Gallagher Theatre at the UA Student Union starting at 7 PM MST

It's sponsored by the

Now that it's less than a week away, not only looking forward to bouncing out of the Houston city limits for a few days, looking forward to seeing as many of my Tucson area readers there.

It's Barbara Jordan's Birthday

Today would have been the 76th birthday of a trailblazing Houstonian in Rep. Barbara Charline Jordan.
I wrote about my shero on the occasion of her 75th birthday last year.

When it comes to my politicians and the prototype person I'm looking to vote for, she is the template for it and I sincerely believe that this country would be in much better shape if we had more Barbara Jordans in Congress.

Here's her keynote speech from the 1976 DNC.

50th Anniversary Of John Glenn Mercury Mission

Fifty years ago John Glenn became the fifth human being launched into space and the first American to orbit the earth when he climbed into Friendship 7 and rocketed into space from Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 14 on this date in 1962.

His historic flight took him four hours and 56 minutes to orbit the Earth three times before splashing down in the Atlantic Ocean.

The successful manned orbital mission paved the way for NASA to proceed with the remaining three Mercury orbital flight missions and put the United States on the path toward fulfilling President Kennedy's goal of landing a man on the moon before the end of the decade.

After retiring from NASA Glenn entered the political arena and served as the Democratic US senator for Ohio from 1974-1999.

Glenn holds another American spaceflight distinction as the oldest person to fly in space.   At age 77 he was part of the STS-95 mission that flew aboard the shuttle Discovery from October 29-November 7, 1998.

But the road to the successful Apollo 11 mission started with John Glenn's mission that launched fifty years ago today.

Baltimore County MD Trans Rights Bill Vote Tomorrow

It's a big day tomorrow in Baltimore County for Chrissy Lee Polis and the rest of our trans brothers and transsisters.

The Baltimore County Council will convene at 5:00 PM EST to vote on Bill 3-12, the human rights bills to add gender identity and sexual orientation to existing human rights statutes and add Baltimore County MD to the increasingly lengthy list of jurisdictions that do value their rainbow community citizens.

Bill 3-12 has already had two contentious hearings, with the Forces of Intolerance desperately trying to preserve their 'special right' to discriminate.
They have been sliming this much needed law with the usual 'bathroom bill' meme bull feces.  One major lie they were trying to pimp has already been thoroughly debunked.

But the haters will still repeat them anyway in the hope they get the desired result of Bill 3-12 being defeated or severely watered down.

So for those of you in the Baltimore area it would be incumbent upon you to be agents for your own liberation and let your county councilmembers respectfully know that you want the full menu of human rights, not an unjust public accommodations free bill.

Since the opponents are dragging in people from outside Maryland and Baltimore County into this human rights battle, it's in our best interests to help our trans brothers and sisters in Baltimore County beat back the haters.

If you can, you may also wish to show up at the hearing at 400 Washington Avenue in Towson, MD clad in purple to express your support for the bill without amendments.

Good luck Baltimore County transpeeps!
