2011 UH Cougar Watch-Coogs Number 8 In BCS Rankings

After a remarkable Senior Week which saw the ESPN GameDay show appear on campus for the first time ever and a sold out Robertson Stadium witness Case Keenum break (ho hum) another NCAA passing record, the unbeaten University of Houston Cougars parlayed their 37-7 victory over the SMU Mustangs to the highest ever ranking in the BCS poll and their first Top Ten AP and Coaches Poll rankings since 1990.

And hopefully it at least raised Case Keenum's profile in the Heisman race.

The Cougars jumped up three spots in the pols thanks to all of the losses last weekend by other schools.  They are now number 8 in the BCS and AP polls, and number 7 in the USA Today Coaches one.

Damn, what we wouldn't give for a NCAA football playoff right now.

Saturday's win for the 11-0 Cougars also sets up a regular season closing 11 AM CST showdown in Tulsa on Friday for the C-USA West Division title and a hosting berth in the December 3 C-USA championship game.

Indian Trans Ceremony Turns Deadly

Indian transpeople who were gathering in New Delhi for an event ended up experiencing a horrific tragedy instead.

The early on the scene reporting hasn't confirmed whether it was a TDOR, but is reporting it as a three day festival

The community hall where the event was being held experienced a fire at 7 PM local time that started in the kitchen area and quickly spread through the crowded venue.  There were estimates ranging between 1000-2000 people in attendance at the time the fire started.

Sadly, 14 people were killed with another 40 hospitalized and medical officials expect the death toll will rise because many of the hospitalized people have been admitted with severe burns.   Speculation is faulty wiring caused it, but the fire is being investigated by local officials

Pray for our people there who lost friends, family and loved ones in this tragedy and for the swift recovery of those who suffered injuries during that event.

Another Florida Transwoman Arrested For Pumping

I am not a fan of pumping parties much less the pumping procedures, but that's on y'all if you peeps want to trade beauty now for health problems in middle and old age or die to look like Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian.

Some of the people doing the pumping are transwomen themselves.

Had to shake my head about the latest instance of pumping gone bad and a transwoman making the news because of it.  After a year on the run, Oneal R. Morris was finally caught, arrested and charged with practicing medicine without a license with serious bodily injury.

The incident happened in May 2010 with an unidentified woman paying $700 to have Morris 'pump' her behind so that she could have a curvier body in order to work at a nightclub.  Morris was referred to the woman in question by a friend.

The 30 year old Morris used tubing to inject the woman at several spots in her buttocks with a pumping cocktail comprised of cement, mineral oil and flat tire sealant.

The woman went to two South Florida hospitals after experiencing severe abdominal pain and infected sores at the pumping sites on her buttocks accompanied by flu like symptoms but was too embarrassed to tell the medical personnel at those hospitals what she'd done.

Finally after being taken by her mother to a hospital on Florida's west coast, the medical staff there pressed the woman for information that they reported to the state Department of Health.

Florida has been cracking down on the pumpers after a publicized wave of people doing pumping back in the early 2k's.  One well publicized incident led to the 2001 death of a 53 year old cis woman named Vera Lawrence and a subsequent toughening of Florida laws against the practice.

But pumping is so lucrative and sought after that Donnie 'Viva' Hendrix, the person convicted along with her then lover Mark Hawkins in the Lawrence case, after being released from prison in November 2005 moved to North Florida, got back in the pumping business and was busted again in 2009

Morris is out on bail as the authorities look for the other people that were pumped.   The woman in question has paid far more than the $700 dollars for the initial procedure.   In addition to the surgeries to reverse the procedure, she's racked up medical bills and is dealing with the pain caused by it.

Number One Baylor Beats Number 2 Notre Dame In Preseason WNIT Title Game

The reason I'm not tripping about the NBA lockout is because of the quality basketball being played in collegiate arenas around the country.   There was a great early season number one versus number two matchup on the women's basketball side that for the first time in years didn't involve UConn.

It was an early season showdown in Waco between the Brittney Griner led Baylor Lady Bears and the Skylar Diggins led Notre Dame Fightin' Irish for the preseason WNIT championship.

Number two Notre Dame was the NCAA championship runner up to Texas A&M last spring and the Aggies have jumped out in defense of their title to a 4-0 start.

The Lady Bears and the Fighting Irish are just two of the NCAA women's squads who want to be cutting down the nets at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Y'all know I love my Houston homegirl Brittney Griner, who had 32 points and 14 rebounds in this 94-81 win in the Ferrell Center and established themselves (for now ) as one of the elite women's squads in the country.   But I have no doubts that Notre Dame will be there when March Madness rolls around.

Go Lady Bears!

Can Y'all Stop Hatin' On Transwomen During This 2011 Holiday Season?

I wrote a November 27, 2009 post at the beginning of the Christmas season in which I asked if a transperson could get some love during the holiday season?

As you probably suspected, that didn't happen in 2009, and I didn't even get a chance to write a 2010 post asking the question before the holidays started because the radfems were already off the chain along with the fools at Bossip and other Black gossip blogs.

Now that the 2011 holiday season is about to crank up, the Hallmark Channel is already running Christmas specials and Christmas commercials have been running for two weeks now, I and the worldwide transgender community have a simple request to make that's aimed at all our detractors inside and outside the rainbow community.

Can y'all stop hatin' on transwomen this holiday season?

I suspect we won't get any more love this holiday season as we have in the last several, but it was worth a shot.
