It's nice for me to get to post something about a transman on this blog.
In 1972 Juani Santos was diagnosed as the first transman in Cuba. It took 40 years of struggling with anti trans prejudice from family and friends and waiting for the Cuban government to resume doing SRS surgeries, but at age 61 Santos finally got it.
The first Cuban SRS surgery took place in 1988, but after heated criticism the health ministry stopped using public funds for the program. The program resumed in 2008 at the insistence of noted psychologist, sexologist and head of CENESEX Mariela Castro Espin. daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro..

He's had a long wait, but hope our transbrother lives a happy rest of his life

The Black Wall Street In Tulsa
This is a documentary about Black Wall Street In Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 90th anniversary of the race riot that destroyed it is happening May 30-June 1. Here's a fascinating look at that history.

Thank You Texas Senate Democrats
Texas trans community, we did it. We sent the message to our state legislature not to mess with trans Texans.
Now it's time to thank the Texas Democratic senators who helped us send that message by standing their ground and helping us kill the odious anti trans SB 723.
They always hear from their constituents when they are perceived to have done something wrong or urged to vote for or against a bill. Well, let's thank them for standing up for us. Let our legislators know we appreciate them when they help trans brothers and trans sisters out.
Tell 'em thank you for standing up and helping kill unjust SB 723.

TransGriot Nuke A Troll 14-Two For One Hatin On Nikki
Time for the USS Monica to cruise the cyberseas and prepare the troll nukes to drop 50 megatons of knowledge on some poor deluded soul who surfed over here thinking their not so malodorous bull feces wasn't going to be challenged.
Y'all don't know me very well do you?
Okay, today's first contestant in the Dissing Is Right is someone called Vicky. She tried to post this on my last Nikki update.
iit seems to me that she didnt miss him all tat much she has a new boy toy. For a woman/ man or "it" to say she loves her ex-hubby's sure could of fold me che wouldnt put them throug this. same sex marrige is NOT a marrige not a legal. I hope she gets nothing that what she gets for puting those poor boys throug just let the remember their father like he hero he is not some clown case because she wanted to play dress up all his life.
5...4..3...2..1 launch
First up, Vicky Buy a dictionary or better yet, use spell check more frequently. Your ignorance is showing.
I was with Nikki the day she found out they were adding Thomas' name to the Fallen Texas Firefighters Memorial on the state capitol grounds in Austin and she wasn't advised of or invited to the ceremony. She was a mix of alternating emotions for most of that day. Hurt, sad, wistful, and at times a not so happy camper about being dissed
She's an attractive woman. Why wouldn't she have men chasing her? You jealous because you ain't getting any action?
.
Um 'girlfriend', why don't you take some remedial English classes? Had a hard time trying to comprehend exactly who you were talking about in your second sentence. As for the legality of her marriage, you're not a state district judge like Judge Randy M. Clapp or an attorney, so your Fox News flavored opinion doesn't count.
BTW, contrary to what Fox Noise is spewing at you, it is Simona Longoria and Heather Delgado the grandmother and mother of the children in question who filed this money grubbing lawsuit, not Nikki. They are going after the money Thomas left Nikki. The kids already have their benefits.
Had Simona and Heather not made their reprehensible money grab, the only way we'd be remembering Thomas is as the heroic firefighter and loving husband he was.
.
Miss Thang, you upset because Nikki is a better looking woman than you probably are? You taking the time out of your not so busy day writing this comment to trash Nikki tells me everything I need to know about how secure you are in your femininity.
Duck and cover when the troll nuke arrives rhymes with snitch.
And since I stuck a MIRV on the troll nuke Tomahawk today, this is some letter Nikki received from a self proclaimed Wharton, TX resident that she shared with us in a FB note.
I want to have some fun irradiating this one as well.
And now, making a guest appearance at TransGriot, here's Nikki...
Just received this nice note from a clearly delusional Wharton resident....
Latisha Humphres May 23 at 12:06pm Report
look have so much to say to u but first off i must say u are a ler u never meet thomas at church i did no one knew u was a man u never told me and all u are dong is for the money and its sickning u never told us u had hiv eaither witch is sick u spread that around like candy... u are someone that loves fame and money and u are getting this over my mans death the pic of u at his grave s fakejust like u .... i must tell u what comes around goes around and keep ur nasty ass away from everyone u infested ass man/female..... go to hell to and if u have a problem i been wanting to kck ur ass for many years now so buck at me and keep talking shit to me or about me thats fine im a real female and i dont lie to people nor do i hae sex w someone knowing what u do ... lata slut p.s love ur fame bc its all a game and it wll cetch up to u so appeal whatever u want u aint mssing him u want his money u money hungry slut
Thanks Nikki, I'll take it from here. (TransGriot grins and cracks knuckles) 5...4...3...2...1.
I know the Wharton ISD teachers did a better job of teaching you how to read, think and write than you have exhibited in this letter to Nikki. Your science skills are deficient as well.
How do you know Nikki didn't meet Thomas at church? Were you a member? Are you Heather Delgado sucking your teeth and posting under a fake name?
Presuming you're really Heather Delgado (since you let the my man's death comment slip) if you hadn't made the money grabbing lawsuit the world wouldn't know who Nikki was. You and Simona created the conditions that resulted in making Nikki famous. What goes around does come around Latisha, er Heather. You'll find that out soon enough. Your hatin' has potentially set forces in motion that could frack with the civil rights of every trans person not only in Texas, but across the planet simply because of your greed and your hatred of Nikki.. Pathetic.
Speaking of money hungry, look in the mirror. And one other thing...you need Jesus.
Duck and cover, and don't look at the flash when the troll nukes go off.
Marriage Battle Of Minnesota Set
Well, at the beginning of the New Year, it was expected in GL world that a marriage referendum would occur in a state beginning with the letter 'M'.
But surprise, surprise that state is Minnesota, not Maryland.
In another example GL peeps of elections mattering and what happens when you sit one out, the Minnesota House and Senate came under the control of the Republicans as a result of the 2010 midterms.
The DFL when they had control of the Legislature blocked that amendment. But when you sit elections out, it's a vote for your GOP oppressors.
DFLer Mark Dayton is in the governor's mansion. But when it comes to constitutional amendments, the governor can't do squat about them. They don't require his signature, and he can't veto it if it passes. All he can do is campaign either for or against it, and he's already on record as being opposed to it.
Minnesota law already bans same gender marriage, but the GOP legislators supporting the unjust amendment said it is necessary to prevent judges or lawmakers from legalizing it in the future.
What, no 'Jobs, jobs, jobs' legislation from the GOP majority?
After six hours of emotional debate, the Minnesota House approved on a 70-62 nearly party line vote last night a proposed constitutional amendment that would define marriage as between a man and a woman. Four Republicans voted 'NO' and two Democrats voted 'YES'.
The Republican controlled Minnesota Senate approved the proposed amendment by a 38-27 vote that also fell almost completely along party lines. Only one DFL senator Leroy Stumpf voted for it.
It sets the stage for what is sure to be a contentious November 2012
ballot question smack dab in the middle of the 2012 presidential
election that will spike conservafool voter turnout.
As a reminder folks, when it comes to constitutional amendment same gender marriage bans, the Forces of Intolerance have momentum and a 31-0 record. But can Minnesota be the state that bucks the trend?
60% of the state's population of 5.3 million people live in the Minneapolis-St Paul area.
I also thought I'd point out that only 4.4% of the population of Minnesota is African-American, and Rep Keith Ellison, the first African American congressmember from Minnesota is in favor of marriage equality..
So if that referenda record goes to 32-0, don't want to hear any rainbow shade thrown at African American voters. Aim your Hateraid at the peeps who brought you this referendum pain, the Catholic Church, NOM and the Republican Party.
Well, it's going to be a 18 month long, hard, expensive and ugly battle. You're going to see milllions of dollars and reams of campaign ads flow into the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Joanne Cassar Loses Appeal
The roller coaster legal ride of Malta's Joanne Cassar continues as the Maltese Constitutional Court upheld the appeal of the Maltese Attorney General this morning in her ongoing marriage battle in which she has won some rounds and lost some.
Joanne has been battling this since 2006, when she and her then fiance were denied marriage banns by the Malta Marriage Registrar despited being post surgical.. She won a round in February 2007, it was revoked on a 2008 appeal, and she won again in December 2010,
According to the Times of Malta, The sentence delivered by the Constitutional Court presided by Judges Geoffrey Valenzia, Giannino Caruana Demajo and Tonio Mallia affirmed that a breach of articles 8 & 12 of the Convention on Human Rights had taken place in respect of Joanne Cassar. However the Court stated that this breach occurred due to a lacuna in Maltese legislation that did not allow for transgender persons to enter into what it termed 'a life partnership'.
Needless to say not only was Cassar and her attorneys disappointed with this latest ruling, so was the Malta Gay Rights Movement. It pointed out that the Constitutional Court ruling failing to recognize Joanne Cassar as a woman who could marry a man went against the judgement of the European Court of Human Rights as expressed in Goodwin vs UK and other recent judgements and jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice.
The MGRM also noted that the court adopted “the narrowest possible interpretation of gender based solely on biological criteria,” to deny Ms Cassar’s right to have her affirmed gender identity recognized by law.
Stay tuned, this one is going to Strasbourg, France and the European Court of Human Rights.
TransGriot Note: Initial reaction from TGEU. Nothing yet from Joanne Cassar or her legal team.
