Sherri Shepherd Puts Pumps In Mouth Again

This isn't the first time that Sherri Shepherd has opened her mouth to say some clueless or borderline transphobic or homophobic ish on The View, but is the latest example of it.

She chimes in with her thoughts on the J. Crew ad controversy when the ladies of The View start discussing it.

Can y'all get a thoughtful sister like Jacque Reid, Kerry Washington, Victoria Rowell....anybody to replace her?

Saturday Sellout-Herman Cain

Since he was at a Tea Klux Klan rally just outside of town in The Woodlands today, thought my latest installment of the TransGriot  Saturday Sellout series would shine a bright spotlight on conservafool and Tea Klux Klan apologist Herman Cain.

Cain was the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza and during his time there returned it to profitability in an impressive 14 months after taking ther helm of it.

But unfortunately the Morehouse man has been deeply involved in conservative politics.  The 'Hermanator' had a talk radio show until February 2011, is a commentator for Fox News Business, writes a column (big shock), and has formed an exploratory committee as his next step to consider running for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

As president of the National Restaurant Association Cain played a role in the defeat of the Clinton Healthcare plan in 1993-94, ran for the 2004 GOP US Senate nomination in Georgia and lost and peddles in Islamophobia.

He is a frequent critic of President Obama and proclaimed that in a Cain administration he would never appoint a Muslim.

Who will your running mate be IF you win the 2012 GOP nomination, and that's a big if since they want white leadership at the head of their white party?   Allen West?    Rick Santorum?   Michele Bachmann?

Break out the Oreo cookies.

Stacey Blahnik Case Update

Monday marked the six month anniversary of the death of Stacey Blahnik, the beloved house mother of the House of Blahnik in Philadelphia.    There have been some developments in the case that go beyond the Philadelphia media starting to read the AP Stylebook when reporting on her case.

The Philadelphia Gay News reports that police have identified a person of interest in Blahnik’s murder. Homicide Capt. James Clark said details about the individual could not be made public, but Clark said an arrest is within sight.

“As of lately, we have developed a person of interest and we’re continuing down that path right now to hopefully make an arrest in the near future,” Clark said.

The Philadelphia trans community, Blahnik's family and all who loved and admired her are hoping that the waste of DNA who committed this heinous crime will be arrested soon enough and justice will prevail in this case.

Silly Wingers, Pink Is For Boys and Girls

The Right Wing Noise Machine has got their panties in knots about a J Crew ad in which the company's creative director Jenna Lyons appeared with her son Beckett.  The accompanying caption in the ad reads: "Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon."

Of course the Morality Police went apoplectic and used it as an opportunity to attack transpeople once again.

Cheryl Kilodavis in Seattle knows how Jenna Lyons feels right now.    She's the Seattle mother who wrote about her 5 year old son Dylan in a book called 'My Princess Boy'.    He enjoys traditional girl things such as jewelry, dresses and the color pink and was attacked as well for her 'crime' of violating the gender binary.   .

But let's get real.   The gender binary fence has some serious holes in it.

Hollywood stars have been more willing to let their children explore gender.  Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh adopted a boy's wardrobe while Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale's son Kingston has been photographed wearing his own shade of nail polish.

Once upon a time the gender binary wasn't as rigid.either.

For those of you who are tripping and saying 'this is wrong' or 'not normal', check out this photo from 1884.

Wanna know who this is?   It's our 32nd president of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt at age 2.

Back when he was growing up kids grew up wearing unisex clothing and didn't get their first haircuts until they were 6 or 7.

So if you're worried that letting children explore their gender will turn them into transpeople, chill out.   Unless you're born trans it ain't happening.

I know more than a few peeps who dressed their boys in blue clothing, played little league baseball or football, and are now rocking stylish dresses and heels.   There are also handsome men who started out in life dressed in pink from head to toe, were given Barbie dolls for Christmas and hated every moment of it .

This kerfluffle only points out what we transpeople have been saying for a long time.   Gender is a social construct and has a between the ears component that often doesn't match the body one is born with or the genitalia between their legs.

Silly wingers, pink is for boys and girls.    Now where's my nail polish?    Suddenly I feel the need to rock some pink nail polish  in solidarity with little Beckett and his mom.
