Well folks, the GOP may be resting until Monday April 18, but we can't. Keep those calls and e-mails coming to the Democratic senators . Let them know how important it is for them to oppose this anti-trans bill and thank them for doing so.
We are making a difference but we can't let up. SB723 needs to die. The best part is you're helping kill a bill in a red state, something some misguided people in the TBLG community along I-5 and I-95 claim we red state 'libruls' can't do.
Yes we can. Yes we will.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Tax Deadline Edition
Well, it's April 15, the day most Americans dread on the calendar because it's normally the deadline for getting those tax returns in to the IRS. This year, you have until April 18 to file this year thanks to the District of Columbia.
There is a holiday called Emancipation Day that is being celebrated inside DC. It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Compensated Emancipation Act that President Abraham Lincoln signed on April 16, 1862.
Since April 16 fell on a Saturday and under federal law DC holidays affect the filing date just like federal ones do, you now have three extra days to get that tax return in or stress over it.
And now let's get to our weekly business that never takes a holiday, calling out the stupidity in our midst and selecting our Shut Up Fool! of the week.
We had many worth contenders for our award this week such as Gov Chris Christie (R-NJ) ,Gov Scott Walker (R-WI) , Speaker John Boehner, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), a group award for Equality Maryland, Mitt Romney and a group nomination for Faux News.
But this week's winner is once again Donald Trump
Not content with pimping the birther crap, he now makes an insensitive racial comment on an Albany, NY talk radio show this week.
Because dumbazz, not only did Geraldine Ferraro and Bill ruin it for Hillary in South Carolina with their jacked up comments about then Senator Obama, we had a golden opportunity to make a dream we African-Americans have had as a people since Emancipation come true and elect one of our own to sit in the Oval Office..
By the way Donald, referring to us as 'the Blacks' is problematic, and I'm telling it like it T-I-S is to your pandering for Tea Klux Klan votes azz with the dog whistle bigoted comments.
Donald Trump, shut the HELL up fool!

"I have a great relationship with the blacks," Trump told Albany's Talk Radio 1300 Thursday. "I've always had a great relationship with the blacks."
Trump said in that interview it's a "very sad thing" such a high percentage of that demographic supports President Obama, for reasons, he believes, that are largely influenced by race. The discussion was spawned by a recent poll of New York voters that found 95 percent of black voters there approve of the president's job performance. The same poll found that the president's overall approval rating in New York stands at 54 percent.
"Look at Hillary Clinton," the reality television star continued in reference to the 2008 Democratic presidential primary race. "Hillary Clinton did so much for the black population, so much and got very few votes." "Look, I tell it like it is," he added. "Then you hear a political reporter go on and say, 'It had nothing to do with race.' But how come she got such a tiny piece of the vote. It's a very sad thing."

SB 723 Action Alert from Cristan
If you think Moni's kidding about how serious we are about the need to kill SB 723, listen to someone who drove to Austin on short notice and testified against this bill when it was in committee..
And here's Cristan's testimony.
Kill SB 723 They need just one Democratic senator to give them the two thirds margin to bring the bill up for a vote.

Anti-Trans SB 723 Needs To Be Stopped
In the Lone Star State we have an anti-trans bill that needs to die called SB 723. It seeks to frack with trans marriage rights and is scheduled to hit the Texas Senate floor on Monday.
Don't forget we have Nikki Araguz's pending marriage case with the next hearing happening on May 13, so yeah, this is an unjust bill that needs to die ASAFP.
S.B. 723 amends Section 2.005(b), Family Code, by removing "or sex change" in reference to documents acceptable in proving an applicant's identity for obtaining a marriage license.
As proposed, S.B. 723 amends current law relating to the proof of an applicant's identity and age required for the issuance of a marriage license.
To bring the bill up for consideration requires the agreement of two thirds of the senators, and the Republifools have a 19-12 edge in the Texas Senate. That puts them one vote short (thank God) of being able to bring it up on their own. For Republican Senator Tommy Williams (who introduced this stank bill) to attempt to pass it means he thinks that he has at least one Democrat that will vote to bring it up.
Okay people, we need some help here. Our best shot to kill it is on the Senate side. If it gets out of the Senate and over to the Texas House, the GOP has a 101-49 advantage. It will probably pass assuming it gets out of committee and Governor Goodhair will probably sign it. . It is imperative that every trans Texan and our allies start calling the Senate Democrats immediately and let them know to "oppose SB 723."
Please call or e-mail the Democratic members of the Texas Senate immediately and tell them to stand up for fairness and kill this unjust bill
