Cristan Sets Up Debate With Dave-Will He Follow Through?

Well, well...TFA executive director Cristan Williams has managed to get our local head fundie Dave Welch to agree to a debate with her at a date, time and place to be determined later.

Whether he follows through on it is the question, especially in light of the pwning he took last time they tangled on Fox 26 .

If it happens, I definitely want a ringside seat for it.    I also want a shot at that negro minister Welch had on Fox Noise as well.

Time for these folks to know that their Flintstones science spouted about Black transpeople, or any transpeople  in the Houston area will not go unchallenged any more

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Shopping Till I Drop Edition

It's the day after Turkey day and they're already running the Christmas commercials.

Anyhoo, in a few hours hanging out with my aunt to brave the hordes and the suddenly cold weather here in H-town in search of bargains.     I'm just going to get out of the house.for a few hours and I need some exercise after my Turkey Day pigout...

Speaking of pigs, nice segue.into our weekly Friday search for the winner of our illustrious award.

The usual fools were in the running such as Andrew Napolitano, Glenn Beck, Megyn Kelly, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity,  a group award for Fox News, Rep Michele Bachmann.

But we have a repeat winner hi week in Sarah Palin.    She doesn't, as the late Sam Cooke sang, know much aboiut history, biology, geography, political science, hitory and many other subjects,  but she sure knows how to race bait.
  .

She also doesn't know the difference between North and South Korea.   On Glenn Beck's radio show, she said, "Obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies."

And some of you vanilla flavored people think this woman is qualified to be the POTUS?    Yeah, right.

Sarah Palin, shut the hell up, fool!

Miss Amazing Philippine Beauties 2010

While we're chowing down on the rest of our turkey, on the other side of the International Date Line it's Friday, and that means the finals of the eighth annual Miss Amazing Philippine Beauties Pageant will be taking place at the Manila Film Center tonight..

This pageant takes place in another nation that takes its pageantry seriously and like the Miss Tiffany Universe pageant is limited to local transwomen only.    It rivals only the Thai ones in terms of the beauty, intelligence and talent of the transpinays who take part in it, and in addition to being a way for the Amazing Philippine Show to find talent for its cabaret production, it has been embraced by STRAP, the Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines as well.

2009 queen Bem Bem May Razada will be crowning her successor from the 25 transpinay contestants who started on the journey to become this year's  Miss Amazing Philippine Beauty.

Who is going to be the winner?   As soon as I find out, I'll let y'all know.

Happy Thanksgiving, Y'all!

Well, now it's our turn in the States to get our grub on and give thanks for everything that has happened positively for us this year.

I'm eating Thanksgiving dinner here in Houston with blood family for the first time in a decade,  but don't think I'm not missing my chosen family in Da Ville on this day, my Edenside church family and all my friends up there.   .

While it's been a mixed bag for me in the blessings department, I'm still standing and praying that things get better personally for me, continue to get better writing wise and you TransGriot readers keep blessing this blog with your commentary, visits on a regular basis, and your own lives are blessed and low stress.

I also hope and pray that the trans community around the world gets some positivity shown its way as well.  We can definitely use it after the year we've had.

And now, to paraphrase the late Redd Foxx, "Good bread, good meat, I'm a Baptist, let's eat!

Well Behaved Trans People Rarely Make History

If you think you've seen this title somewhere before, you're right.

I paraphrased it from a fave t-shirt and bumper sticker slogan that states 'well behaved women rarely make history'..

There are times when cool headed, polite discourse can go a long way toward securing our constitutionally guaranteed civil rights.

But there are other situations in which coming meekly hat in hand and saying 'Please give us our rights' ain't gonna cut it especially with people whose heads and hearts are carved from stone or have agendas that do not correspond with yours.

That means there are going to be times in which we are going to have no other choice but to get in Fight The Power black beret wearing mode to shout, scream, raise our fists and say 'We're tired of this BS and we aren't going to take it anymore'.

There are times that events like the 1965 Dewey's Lunch Counter Sit In protest,  the August 1966 Compton's Cafeteria Riots, the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion, and the trans community rage that erupted in 2007 after we were cut out of ENDA are necessary in order for our issues and our voice to be heard.

These folks showed up, showed out, and the rest they say, is history.

We're at a point in time where civil rights is being rolled backwards, the powers that be don't care and we need to be screaming bloody murder and using all the tools in our civil rights tool boxes in order to reverse that trend.

If that means no more Mr. and Ms. Nice Trans, then so be it.   If that means we need to channel the spirit of Sylvia Rivera and be in the face of friends, allies and foes alike if they are impediments to our gaining our constitutionally guaranteed civil rights, then we'll have to be tough minded enough as the trans men and trans women we are to do so.

Because as history is bearing out, well behaved trans people rarely make history.

But ones who speak up, tell it like it T-I-S is and act up do.
