The Original Illegal Aliens

There are times when you just see various graphics around the Net at various blogs and there's so much truth to them you just have to save 'em and show them to your own group of readers.

This one mimics the signs posted along I-5 in the San Diego area.

Lost in all this rush to pass Juan Crow laws by the 'scurred' white GOP folks who are railing about immigration because they are rapidly becoming a minority in America,  is the fact that when you break it down historically, they and everybody else who used boats to get to North America except Native Americans are the original illegal aliens..

Message From Vicky Kolakowski

TransGriot Note: message from California judicial candidate Victoria Kolakowski.

Dear Supporter,

This Thursday is a crucial deadline - it is the last day to contribute before the end of this quarter's fundraising deadline. It is our last opportunity to show the press and voters that we have the momentum on our side going into the November election.

In June, we celebrated a clear victory. The voters of Alameda County spoke, and more than 93,000 of them - nearly 46% of the total - voted to make me their next Superior Court Judge. I couldn't have done this without you.

However, the victory was not decisive and the electorate in November is twice as large. This means I need twice as many resources to reach voters.

Please donate today to ensure victory in November:

When people hear that less than a third of Alameda County judges are women and that no transgender person has ever been elected judge, they vote for me. When people hear that we need to make our courts more accessible to people who can't afford a lawyer, they vote for me. When people hear our message, they vote for me.

We need to get our message out to voters countywide. Contribute securely online today to ensure we have the resources to reach hundreds of thousands of Alameda County Voters:

Contributing by this Thursday, September 30th is crucial for two reasons. It is our last chance to show the public our grassroots financial support. But just as important is that it is just a week before voters receive their absentee ballots. We need the resources to reach voters immediately!

Let's show everyone that we are ready to go all the way in November!

Thank you again for your support.

Team USA Women 2010 FIBA Worlds-On To The Quarters

Number one FIBA ranked Team USA faced off for the top seed in Group E today against defending FIBA champion Australia in Ostrava with much at stake.

The winner would not only stay unbeaten in this 2010 FIBA world championship tournament, they would clinch Group E and the number one seed heading into the knockout round quarterfinals.

Thanks to a 51-33 first half powered by Diana Taurasi's team high 24 points, Team USA moved to 6-0 and clinched the top spot in Group E by beating the Opals 83-75.

Sylvia Fowles added 15 points to go with her six rebounds and Tina Charles contributed 14 points to help the Team USA cause and extend their record against Australia in FIBA competition to 9-0.

Team USA moves on to Karlovy Vary and their day off needing only three more wins to achieve their ultimate goal of capturing the 2010 FIBA World championship.and that coveted qualifying spot in the 2012 London Games basketball tournament.

After the break Team USA kicks off quarterfinal play October 1 against Korea.  They would take on the winner of the France-Spain game in the semifinal should they defeat Korea.   Meanwhile the Opals face the homestanding Czech Republic and the survivor of the Belarus-Russia quarterfinal..

This may not be the last time we play the Opals, and if things break the way everyone expects, the next time Team USA and Australia clash, the FIBA title could be on the line.

Houston Trans Community Meeting October 9

A trans community meeting concerning the ongoing Araguz case will take place on Saturday October 9 from 1:00-3:00 PM CDT at the Transgender Center.

It's located at 604 Pacific St in Houston, TX and this town hall meeting will focus on the impact the Heather Delgado v. Nikki Araguz case will have on the overall GLBT community within Texas and beyond.

A loss can mean that the State of Texas will no longer recognize the transitioned status of transgender people. This will have a huge impact on transgender employment issues, bathroom issues, issues of policy and issues of law.

A win will ensure that the State of Texas will officially recognize the transitioned status of transgender people. This will also have a huge impact on transgender employment issues, bathroom issues, issues of policy and issues of law.

Additionally, a win will put Texas in the exact same place California was post-Prop 8. A win will mean that we will have a law banning same sex marriage while at the same time having many officially State-sanctioned valid same sex marriages that came about due to the 1999 Littleton vs Prange ruling.

We will discuss strategy and what you can do. This will be your opportunity to become fully informed and have all your questions and concerns addressed about this case.

On hand for the community meeting will be:

Phyllis Frye and her entire law firm
Nikki Araguz
TFA Executive Director and Board of Directors
Vanity, Diamond Girls
Jenifer Rene Pool, Host of Queer Voices and City Council candidate
Kris Banks, President of the GLBT Political Caucus

When GIEC Does Something Newsworthy-Then I'll Write About It

A week ago this comment from Henry Hall was caught in my filter.   It's concerning the posts I wrote about the unfolding GIEC mess..

It really is not good enough that Monica Roberts, Andrea James and Dented Mercedes stir up a hornet's nest and then ...

And then nothing. Silence. No resolution. No news. Nothing. People act like they are not involved. Well when you make a bunch of accusations you have a duty to follow through leading to a resolution in which we come to know who, if anyone, was in the wrong on this.

This is very bad for transfolk if the accusations are true, and very bad if they are false. But it is worse still if we never find out which.

Henry, the reason there's been nothing further posted is because there are no new developments to report on yet.   They still have the twice rescheduled date of the Trans Strategy Conference of October 1-2 that is rapidly approaching and still isn't on the Soka University events page for the month of October.

So chill.   Mine aren't the only eyes on GIEC in the transosphere  If something newsworthy happens, then I'll post about it and so will 'errbody' else..
