Chris Rock Was Right-Be Afraid Of Al Cracker

Chris Rock caught some flack a few years ago for his joke in which he stated he was more afraid of Al Cracker than Al Qaida.

But like many jokes uttered by comedians, some have an element of truth to them.

Black people for starters have a long list of reasons to fear Al Cracker. The two centuries of terroristic behavior, lynchings, and race riots aimed at us before and after emancipation are the starting point of that distrust, loathing and fear.

The sadly long list of terrorist acts committed on American soil have overwhelmingly been planned and executed by white people such as 1995 Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.

That list also includes notorious civil rights era bomber 'Dynamite Bob' Chambliss, whose grisly resume includes the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church one that killed four young girls and earned a certain city in Alabama the nickname 'Bombingham'

Eric Robert Rudolph executed the July 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympic Park bombing that killed Alice Hawthorne and several others at a lesbian nightclub and two abortion clinics before he was captured May 31, 2003.

The recently arrested Hutaree militia members and IRS suicide pilot Joseph Andrew Stack highlight the growing anger of white people wallowing in privilege who mistakenly believe in the wake of the historic 2008 election of an African American president they need to use violent '2nd Amendment means' as Nevada Republican senate candidate Sharron Angle called it to 'take their country back'.

So yes, when large numbers of conservative white people utter the words 'state's rights', peddle fear and loathing of brown people, immigrants and people who practice a religion other than Christianity to bamboozle other less educated white folks into voting Republican November 2 and not care about the potential deadly consequences of their actions to the non-whites they are demonizing, then I and other non-whites have historically based good reasons to be afraid of Al Cracker.

Learning, Growing, Evolving Femininity FB Discussion

When I began my transition in 1994, one of the things I was well aware of was the famous quote by French philosopher Simone de Beauvoir on womanhood.

Women are made, not born'

A few days ago I had an interesting discussion on my Facebook page about this very subject which ironically started in response to this comment.

Some ignorant elements of the Black community really need to chill with the transphobia and 'that's a man' shade aimed at Black women.

It was in response to the post I wrote slamming the transphobes at Bossip about the 50 gallon drums of Hateraid Fierce they were drinking over Wendy Williams.

One of the things I realized pretty quickly was that French philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wasn't kidding when she said 'A woman is made, not born.'

When some people transition, I believe they fail to realize just how much of femininity is internal. Anybody with the money, time and a good plastic surgeon can buy a slamming female body. But if you still carry around those masculine attitudes and behaviors, you'll get 'sirred' in a minute no matter how much money you spent on your feminization surgery or the neocoochie between your legs.

One thing many cis people fail to realize is that I and many transwomen take their transitions seriously. We wish to be compliments to womanhood, not detriments to it as our detractors try to slander us with.

And let's face it, it you want to be good at something, you observe and talk to the people who live those roles in everyday life.

Cis women are born into their bodies, get to develop in them from birth, get the chance to get comfortable in your skin, get to ponder what type of woman you wish to project to the world, make mistakes along the way while being encouraged and molded by their families and society into their feminine gender roles.

Trans women for the most part are fought every step of the way by society and our families in addition to getting shame and guilt piled on us for daring to morph into the bodies that match our gender programming and the types of women we wish to project to the world.

And that's the situation before we even get to grapple with the sexism, being a moving sexual target, and all the other societal baggage positive and negative of walking around on this planet in a female body.

It's enjoyable when I get to have those kinds of thoughtful interactions with cis women about femininity and what it means to them.

I'd like to have those conversations more often.

Nikki Araguz Update 14 -Going To War In The Chron.com Comment Section

As the Araguz case in Wharton continues to a hopefully successful conclusion for us, those of us in the Houston area GLBT community and our allies continue to fight the war against faith based ignorance, smears of Nikki Araguz, the trans community, and Faux News propaganda.

We've already had fun this week gleefully smacking down a slanted Fox26 poll question.

Now the war against ignorance has moved to Chron.com.

I checked out an opinion piece written by a person I had the honor and pleasure of meeting at last month's TTNS, UH professor Maria C. Gonzales.

Entitled 'Legal chaos reigns in same-sex unions', she stated:

Many Texans are so afraid of gay, lesbian, bisexual and especially transgender persons that what would be simple probate matters to others turn into media fodder for us.

The Nikki Araguz case going on in Wharton County is another example of how the systematic disenfranchisement of members of my community has turned one woman's private pain into a very public indignity. Firefighter Thomas Araguz died, and his wife and children would normally receive his death benefits. Perhaps like many in-laws who do not approve of their children's choice of spouse, Araguz's parents do not want their daughter-in-law to receive anything.

Professor Gonzales' piece concludes with this statement.

One day, Texas, like five other states, the District of Columbia, and many countries around the world, will grant its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens equal protection under the law, including the right to marry. When that happens, the dramas of dysfunctional families, even our families, will unfold around the dinner table, and perhaps in the quotidian business of the probate court, instead of in the media spotlight.

Of course, the faith based Conservabigots, Texas Division are making their stupidity known in the comments section. We're countering the lies and disinformation with the facts.

Out of the 30 plus comments on this piece so far, this one from a person calling themselves ugly_girl4_ugly_guy drew my attention:

ugly_girl4_ugly_guy wrote:
I <3 it when highly uneducated heterosexual bible thumping bigots try to make arguments that far exceed their capability to comprehend
================================================================
Some of us are not religious, some of us are educated, and ALL of us are bigotted in some way. I see you are bigotted on uneducated, hetero Christians, and make no mistake about it you are a biggot. You didn't state the obvious, that I'm white ... but you're probably white and stopped short... alot of blacks won't side with GBLTs even on a bad day.

USS Monica going to Defcon 1, spooling up rhetorical Tomahawks. Board is green. 5...4...3...2...1...launch.

You really need to turn off Faux News because your faith based ignorance is showing..

Let's see, for starters, TBLG civil rights has the support of people such as Julian Bond, the late Coretta Scott King, Rep. John Lewis, Dr. Joycelyn Elders, Rep. Barbara Lee, the NAACP, the National Black Justice Coalition, Kerry Washington, state Rep Senfronia Thompson....

And me.

Because as John F. Kennedy so eloquently stated in a September 22, 1962 speech, 'In giving rights to others which belong to them, we give rights to ourselves and to our country.'

And the Blacks that side with the Forces of Intolerance like you do are right wing sellouts and thankfully few in number. We African descended Americans stand with the people who love freedom, justice and equality, not hate and intolerance.

NY Trans Community-Show Leona Some Love

At FringeNYC Leona Lo is currently performing her Ah Kua Show play there through August 26.

For those of you in the New York metro area, show our Singaporean sister some love and consider attending the play. Understand and saddened to read from her August 22 blog post it got off to a rough start when the sound system went out.

But here's hoping the rest of your time in New York and the play is drama and glitch free. Looking forward to the day when the Ah Kua Show comes to Houston.

Team USA Eurotour- 86-85 Escape From Madrid

Unlike the last two games they have played against France and Lithuania, Team USA was wide awake at the start of this basketball battle with defending FIBA champion Spain at the sold out Magic Box arena in Madrid.

Team USA shot 48.5 percent from the field, had a 39-27 rebounding margin and held Spain to 41.8 percent shooting. They had four players in double figures, with Kevin Durant leading all scorers with 25 points and ten rebounds. Derrick Rose chipped in 13, Khloe's man Lamar Odom had 12 points and nine rebounds, and elder statesman Chauncey Billups contributed 10 points to the win.

Spain was led by Juan Carlos Navarro’s 20 points. Marc Gasol scored 17, with Felipe Reyes tossing in 16 from the bench.

Team USA must have thought they were in Pamplona instead of Madrid. They started fast with a 16-3 run to open the game and kept building on it through the second quarter to hold a 45-33 halftime lead on their hosts.

Spain came out of the locker room fired up. Over a five minute stretch of the third quarter they hit two three pointers and were aided by 6 of 7 free throw shooting to whittle the halftime deficit to 55-53.

Team USA woke up and went on a 8-1 run jump started by Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry that pumped the lead back up to 63-54. Spain responded with consecutive baskets, and then Team USA responded with a 6-0 run over the final 1:04 of the quarter to take a 69-58 lead into the final stanza.

After getting whistled with three quick fouls to begin the fourth quarter, Team USA went into a defensive shell in order to avoid the bonus and putting Spain on the free throw line. Spain outscored Team USA 20-11 over the next seven minutes and finally tied the game at 80-all with 2:37 to go.

Spain finally took its first lead of the game on a Reyes layup with less than two minutes to go. Kevin Durant hit a bucket to tie the score again at 82-all and after a Rubio turnover Team USA had a chance to regain the lead. Lamar Odom's three pointer was off the mark, Spain grabbed the rebound but missed their shot to take the lead. Odom made up for his miss by grabbing a huge rebound.

With 32.99 seconds left on the game clock and seven seconds on the shot clock Derrick Rose nailed a driving bucket to give the USA the lead back at 84-82.

After a Spanish time out, Juan Carlos Navarro was fouled while scoring on a drive with 27.82 seconds left in the game. He converted the free throw to give Spain an 85-84 lead.

It was Derrick Rose to the rescue again as he shook Ricky Rubio and was fouled on his way to the basket with 16.92 seconds left. As 10,960 fans cranked up the volume Rose calmly sank both free throws.

After another Spanish time out advanced the ball to midcourt, they passed the ball around trying to get somebody open for a game winning shot.

The first attempted three pointer from Rubio was partially blocked by Kevin Durant and after a scramble for the ball Spain came up with it. Rudy Fernandez launched another three pointer that was swatted away by Durant as time expired to preserve the hard fought win.

"It was one of those games that was a learning experience for us and I think we made key plays down the stretch," Durant said. "We also played as a team and stuck through tough times."

Team USA is now 3-0 on this exhibition tour, and they'll hop a flight to Athens to train and take on Greece in their final tuneup game Wednesday. That game will be televised live on ESPN at 11 AM CDT.

They start FIBA Worlds preliminary group play against Croatia on Saturday

If Team USA keeps playing like this, they'll shed that 'B' Team moniker quickly.

Stop Hatin' On TBLG Students

In a few hours HISD and other school districts in the Houston metro area will begin the 2010-2011 school year. I remember having mixed emotions about it.

While I was sad to have my summer vacation come to an end, on the other hand even with the drama I experienced at times during elementary and sometimes junior high, I was excited to begin a new school year and wonder who my new classmates would be.

But for many TBLG kids, the imminent start of the school year is something they dread due to harassment, bullying or other issues that crop up.

Every year we have some school district official somewhere in the nation that overreacts or has a problem with a trans student presenting in their preferred gender either at the start of the school year or during prom season.

We have other incidents that start because of people pushing their faith based hate at LGBT students. It ends up generating national news involving GLBT students with depressing regularity on many issues.

One of the pieces of new Congressional legislation I was happy to see introduced was the Student Non-Discrimination Act. It was sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and in the House by Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) and offers remedies for discrimination “based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity” in public elementary and secondary schools.

Based on what we've seen over the last few years and the recurring lawsuits that TBLG kids have had to file with the help of the ACLU and Lambda Legal just to stand up for their constitutional rights, the SNDA is sorely needed.

Here's hoping that the 2010-2011 school year is a relatively drama free one for LGBT students. Somehow, I doubt it will be.

Hello Diamond Stylz

Since I just moved back into the Houston area a few months ago, I'm in the process of finding out as I get reconnected in the community what's changed since I left for Da Ville in 2001.

While researching another story, I stumbled across the videos from Diamond Stylz and her blog that posts them.

Diamond's originally from Indianapolis, transitioned at age 13 and graduated from Arlington HS, the same HS that's the alma mater of actress Vivica A. Fox, who graduated from it in 1982.

Yeah, still love me some Vivica.

I point that part out because Diamond mentions in one of her blog posts that she had to have the ACLU's help in 1999. She was the plaintiff in a 1999 case in which she had to fight for the right to attend her prom expressing her gender ID the way she had done all through high school.

Yep, she won, and got to rock her black prom dress.

But finding out about this case puts KK Logan's in a different light now. If this happened in 1999, then KK Logan's case in Gary, IN that's currently in the federal court system turns out to be even more egregious.

But back to Diamond. She's now living here in Houston and the TransGriot is very interested in meeting another African descended transsister in her backyard who tells it like it T-I-S is. But until that day happens, I'm going to be checking out her thoughtful videos and her blog.

Hey Diamond, if you're reading this, looking forward to meeting you over lunch one day.

This Is H.O.W. Names New Executive Director

This Is H.O.W. is a Phoenix based 501c(3) charitable organization that provides a transitional living environment for Trans persons in crisis.

On August 1 the This Is H.O.W. Board of Directors appointed Antonia “Toni” D’orsay as the new Executive Director of the organization and committed itself to expanding on the services it offers to transgender individuals in the Valley.

“I’m humbled by the honor, and committed to carrying This Is H.O.W.’s mission and the vision of its Founder, Regina Gazelle, forward through these troubled economic times." Ms. D’orsay said.

The organization was founded in 2006 by Regina Gazelle, and is dedicated to the betterment of the lives of Trans (transsexual, transgender, and gender variant) persons experiencing crisis situations such as homelessness, substance abuse, familial abuse, and transition related difficulties.

The organization is currently conducting a fundraising drive and this weekend is coordinating a day of service from 8 AM MST to 5 PM MST on the 21st and 22 for the purposes of cleaning, painting, reorganizing and redecorating the This is H.O.W. facility.

Congratulations Toni on the new ED position and may you and the Board of Directors be successful in keeping alive and expanding the vision of this organization.

Team USA Eurotour- Showdown With Spain

Team USA's Eurotour continues with a 2 PM CDT game versus the defending FIBA World Champions Spain in front of what is sure to be a raucous crowd in Madrid.

The last time we faced FIBA number 3 ranked Spain was during the 118-107 gold medal game in Beijing that has been considered the greatest international b-ball game ever played. Unfortunately for Team USA all 12 participants in that game are sitting at home watching the 2010 FIBA world championship action.

While Spain will be missing Pau Gasol, brother Marc will still be in the Magic Box along with Jose Calderon, Rudy Fernandez, Ricky Rubio and Juan Carlos Navarro.

In addition to being the defending FIBA world champs, Spain won the 2009 EuroBasket title, and picked up silvers in the 2008 Olympics and in the 2007 EuroBasket finals after a narrow loss to Russia.

So yes, Spain will be a formidable challenge for Team USA. Can they handle it? Only if they cut out the maddening first quarter slow starts. Shooting 14% and turning the ball over six times in the first quarter will eventually catch up with you.

And Spain has much better guards than Lithuania does. Fall asleep on those Spanish guards and you will be getting your butt kicked.

But I'm sure Coach K and his staff have already made that point clear to the Team USA ballers.

At any rate, should be a fun game to watch.

Team USA Eurotour- Sloppy 77-61 Win Over Lithuania

If Team USA wants to claim their first FIBA basketball championship since the 1994 Dream Team rolled though everyone on Canadian soil, they have to do a better job of getting their offense in gear when the game tips off.

The 2010 edition of Team USA may hate the derisive nickname of 'The B Team' they've been saddled with, but if they want the world's basketball respect, they better recognize that everyone's going to come at them with their 'A' game.

Team USA got off to a horrible 3 for 21 shooting start and was sloppy with the basketball as they turned the ball over six times in the first quarter. Fortunately for Team USA they only faced a 15-7 deficit at the end of the first stanza thanks to their defense and an equally sloppy opening shooting quarter by Lithuania.

Team USA tightened up the defensive pressure and started finding the range as they clawed their way back into the game to trail at halftime 29-28.

The game was broken open thanks to a later third quarter 17-0 run triggered by Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon. The run included four consecutive free throws after a flagrant foul and technical foul assessed to Mantas Kalnietis that gave the USA a 54-49 lead they never relinquished.

Kevin Durant shook off the rough start to score 15 points, Russell Westbrook had 12 points and Rudy Gay had 14.

Team USA faces Spain, the defending FIBA world champions tomorrow, and if they fall asleep in the first quarter of tomorrow's game, they will get their butt kicked.

Yo Cis Peeps, Can I Vote On Your Civil Rights In A Fracking Poll?

The Araguz case along with another current court case happening in Hong Kong have focused attention on our ability to get married.

I pointed out in a post last year that one of the negative collateral effects of the Hateraid directed by fundies at the GL community about same gender marriage is that our ability as trans people to get married, which was once a common sense no brainer issue, has become entangled in the foul politics of the marriage equality issue.

Our Houston Faux News station decided to put on their website this poll question:

Should transgender or transsexual people be allowed to legally marry?

The response was overwhelming, and I'm happy to report a result that makes me proud of my hometown.

As of the moment I'm compiling this post, 94% of respondents say YES (and yes, I voted in this one) 5.8% of respondents say NO, and 0.2% are NOT SURE.

But one of the things that pisses me off is this 'tyranny of the majority' laden attitude in which the majority thinks they have the right to trample my civil rights.

No, you don't.

Lindsay's Free To Live As A Woman, At Last

One of the things I'm very happy to see as a child of the African Diaspora is transpeople on the Mother Continent telling their stories.

Lindsay of the Lindsay's Life blog is a young Kenyan transwomen talking about her life and her transition. She was recently featured in a August 18 newspaper article by Maryanne Waweru.

“Today, I’m living my life the way I was meant to,” Lindsay* begins. Born male and named Leo*, Lindsay had lived all her life as a man. Then, in September last year, she began her journey to womanhood.

Recalling her feelings of being “trapped” in the wrong body she says, “I remember playing with dolls and other girlie toys. I hated boyish toys. I also remember secretly trying on some of my mother’s clothes, shoes and make up.

I especially loved walking in her high heels. Emotionally, I felt like a girl,” recalls the finance assistant with a local NGO. Perturbed by Leo’s behaviour, his mother gave him a serious tongue-lashing. “I felt sad because I couldn’t understand why she was angry with me, yet I was only behaving naturally,” Lindsay explains.

It's entitled 'Free to Live As a Woman, at Last.'

Team USA Eurotour- First Up: Lithuania

Team USA's 13 finalists for the 2010 FIBA World Championship basketball team have been practicing in Madrid the last few days in preparation for back to back games against Lithuania and the defending FIBA world champion Spanish team.

They'll play a tough Lithuanian squad later today as they continue working to get their collective act together before the FIBA Worlds get started on August 28.

Like the USA, Lithuania has a serious love for basketball. The Baltic nation is hosting the European championships next year and it's the country's number one sport.

Coach Kestutis Kemzura is still trying to determine who will be the final 12 men on the roster representing Lithuanian b-ball honor and is playing with 14 men for now.

They are planning to take to the FIBA Worlds a younger squad built around the talents of the Toronto Raptors Linas Kleiza and San Antonio Spurs draftee Martynas Gecevicius.

I'm sure Coach K and his staff is reminding Team USA that Lithuania is no basketball pushover despite our 5-1 record in official international competition and the 2-0 exhibition record in games against them.

Lithuania is ranked Number 6 in the FIBA rankings (the USA is Number 2 behind Argentina) and the last time we faced them in international competition was the bronze medal game of the 2004 Athens Olympics that the USA won 104-96.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

The one loss versus Lithuania? A stunning 94-90 defeat that came eight days before that bronze medal game victory in 2004 Olympic preliminary round play.

Lithuania also gave Team USA a major scare in the 2000 Sydney Olympic semifinals. The USA escaped to the gold medal game with a narrow 85-83 win after Sarunas Jasikevicius missed a desperation three pointer at the buzzer.

So this will be an interesting challenge for Team USA. If this team is on track to win its first FIBA Worlds gold medal since 1994, we'll get to see on this Eurotour if they can handle the enhanced competition that will be opposing them every step of the way.

1986 Phyllis Hyman Performance and Interview

Y'all know how much I love Phyllis Hyman and hate the fact she's no longer on this planet gracing us with her singing talents. We recently passed the 15th anniversary of her death on June 30.

While searching through video for my Facebook page VJ stint I stumbled across this 1986 appearance and interview of Phyllis on David Brenner's 'The Night Life' show.

So you know I had to post this video for your (and my) viewing pleasure.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Conservafools Gone Wild Edition

Is it just me, or has 'Fear and Hatred of The Black President' made the conservafools lose their damned minds?

They were just going off the deep end this week with Dr. Laura letting her inner bigot out and whining about being 'suppressed', Rush and Beck, Caribou Barbie trying to insert herself in the controversy as usual, Newt Gingrich flapping his gums in the mosque non controversy and being wrong as usual, and Faux News taking the 'fair and balanced' hood off and handing the Republican Governors Association....

So it's Friday, and time to determine which fool, fools or group of fools distinguished themselves and earned our coveted award this week.

This week's Shut Up Fool! Award goes to conservanegro GOP congressional candifate Allen West.

He's part of the overhyped class of 25 Oreo cookie chomping GOP candidates running for Congress this cycle who have been talking loud but so far only one of them, Tim Scott in South Carolina (it figures) has gotten out of a primary into the general election.

Allen West is the Teabagger candidate for Florida's 22nd Congressional district and is trying to prove he's more 'conservative than thou'. Video surfaced this week of him trashing Islam and people who have the 'coexist' bumper stickers on their cars at a March 8 event.

“[A]s I was driving up here today, I saw that bumper sticker that absolutely incenses me. It’s not the Obama bumper sticker. But it’s the bumper sticker that says, ‘Co-exist.’ And it has all the little religious symbols on it. And the reason why I get upset, and every time I see one of those bumper stickers, I look at the person inside that is driving. Because that person represents something that would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are. The liberties that we want to enjoy.”

Allen West, shut up fool!

Me Time2

Hey TransGriot readers!

Should have posted it earlier, but needed to take a me day to recharge and refresh the creative writing juices and do some social media interactions.

If some breaking news happens that's just too irresistible for me to not comment on, I'll get that post up as quickly as I can.

Will be back up and writing tomorrow.

Search Begins For 2010 Amazing Philippine Beauties Queen

Since the inaugural event in 2003 the Amazing Philippine Beauties Pageant has rapidly built itself up into one of the world's well known trans pageants in less than ten years. Not surprising since the Philippines like Thailand has always loved beauty pageants.

The search for the successor to 2009 queen Bem Bem May Rozado began August 3 with the initial call for contestants. That group will be whittled down to the 26 finalists who will compete at the Manila Film Center for the pageant finals.

As always, I'll be keeping y'all posted and let you know when the 2010 queen has been crowned and who she is.

In the meantime enjoy the promo video for the 2010 pageant.

Stop The Transphobic Hatin' On Wendy Williams

I'm not exactly a big fan of her television show, but what I hate even more is when Black women are subjected to misgendering and transphobic slurs by their detractors.

It heightens my pissivity level even more when the peeps slinging the transphobic mud share my ethnic heritage.

The latest example comes from that cesspool of homophobia and transphobia, Bossip.

They wrote a piece that talked about the cover of the May 10 issue of JET and the covers of two other magazines featuring singers Trina and Leona Lewis.

The one that got them talking was the picture of the self proclaimed 'Queen of All Media'. Since Wendy Joan Williams is 5'11" without her heels and she's generated some controversy over the years on her radio show, that has been used as an entree for attacks on her gender ID and presentation.

And now, for your viewing displeasure, some of the gems from the post's comment thread.

Finally, a voice of reason in the phobic wasteland that is the Bossip comment section.

msdavis 4/30/10, 06:26:PM

OMG! We really need to stop people. Wendy Williams is NOT a man. She is her parents (who are still married) daughter and her siblings sister. Wendy is a beautiful educated sister who had a long standing radio show and she was recently inducted into the radio hall of fame. She is a journalist, author and left radio to pursue yet another dream of hers in television. She’s witty, she’s real and she’s a BLACK WOMAN. For those who continue to call her a man or Wendell, that’s terrible and very disrespectful. GROW UP!

***

Grow up indeed, and pick up a fracking science book. A little more or less testo in vitro and many of the nekulturny idiots throwing shade at Ms. Williams in this Bossip comment thread could have easily been on the receiving end of the shade they are throwing.

First point I want to make is transwoman does not equal ugly NFL linebacker in a dress. Some of my transsisters are petite size 8 shoe wearing sisters next door.

As I said back in January, and it seems like this point needs repeating until it gets through some of my peeps thick curly haired heads, I'm tired of insecure people jealous of or intimidated by confident, accomplished, and talented sisters throwing 'that's a man' shade at them.

Wendy's got more money in her bank account than all of you haters put together.

The point is that you get half your genetic material from mommy, half from daddy, and we are all blends and combinations of traits that purportedly belong to the other gender. There is also as those of us who keep up with scientific discoveries and knowledge on these issues are discovering, a fine line between being born in a masculine body and a feminine one.

And it seems like Wendy is doing just fine working the one she's got despite your unsolicited peanut gallery commentary.

Cristan Pwns The Chron's Lisa Falkenburg

As many of you TransGriot readers are aware of, Cristan Williams has been monitoring the ongoing Nikki Araguz trial and I've been posting her video commentaries here.

It's been vitally needed to counteract some of the negative media spin.

Stumbled across this open letter by Cristan to Houston Chronicle columnist Lisa Falkenburg, whose error filled and factually challenged piece on Nikki was picked up and quoted by the conservaslanted Sun Myung Moon (Washington) Times.

This is just a sample of what Cristan had to say to Ms. Falkenburg:

On a personal note as a transwoman, I’ve gotta say that when you flippantly wrote “… no matter how much transgender activists need her case to help their worthy cause” you pissed me off.

I didn’t “need” nor did I want this case. The fact is this case WILL impact MY civil rights and define MY legal standing. Your dismissive tone seems to say to me that I shouldn’t be really concerned for what happens to my rights. Walk a mile in my sensible shoes before being so flippant about my rights as an American citizen!
