A Disturbing Indication of Continued Racism in the United States

Guest post from Cheryl Courtney-Evans of the abitchforjustice blog

I realize that this topic isn't what one would call a "transgender issue", but as a transgender community we don't live 'in a bubble', so issues that affect the overall societal condition affect us as well. Often times we find ourselves at the intersections of multiple obstacles (gender, orientation, AND race) to a prosperous existence...

With that said, I was disturbed and angered to come across (via a "share" on facebook) an article in a "Little Green Footballs" posting about the "deluge" of hate and racism expressed by viewers/readers of a FOX article on the death of Whitney Houston. There was repeated use of the "n" word in reference to her and all African Americans, as well as "monkey" and expressions of ill will for Obama. It was a sickening display of complete hate and disgusting racism without apparent end, from various people (as opposed to one long rant from one person). The author of the Little Green Footballs piece reported that there were many more than the ones he shared, he just couldn't stomach sharing any more than he had.
It made me think about how so many folks, most notably Republican public figures, continue to claim there is no "race problem" in the United States (even as they practice race-bating in their campaigns [Newt Gingrich & Rick Santorum]), and accuse those who point it out as "pulling the race card", and fight to suppress voting rights that we know will greatly affect the ability of African Americans that would vote in the 2012 elections, to vote.

It's also telling that such a large number of respondents to FOX's piece would post such comments, and FOX is the staunchest supporter of the Republican agenda; it would indicate that FOX's audience is basically a hating, racist bunch, which says something about FOX, that it would attract such a crew.

As we watch the 2012 election approach, I hope my readers will think about this "connection of the dots"....how the most popular of these FOX-supported Republican candidates are the ones that "out-conservative" ('conservative' is their word for it, lol) their opponents in order to attract the 'far right' [Tea Party] voters, who all the while deny their racism (but don't call out their candidates who race-bait)...oh, REALLY??? It would be laughable if the situation wasn't so serious...just sayin'.

It seems to me that even though the United States now has an African American  (boldened that word for the 'birthers', LOL) president, racism is still alive and well in these United States. I believe there's a public resurgence because they feel they "fell asleep at the wheel" in 2008, which allowed Obama's election to the White House; they're determined it's not to happen again.

Republicans Showing Their True KKKolors At CPAC

It's CPAC Weekend,.and the conservafools are suffering from an acute case of ODS, AKA Obama Derangement Syndrome.   They are also showing their true racist colors as well in trying to convince the country and themselves that conservatism is superior to liberalism.

Um, no it isn't.  I'll whack on conservatism later, but I wanted to point to another reason why I will never vote for a Republifool.

There was a CPAC panel discussion yesterday entitled 'The Failure of Multiculturalism: How the Pursuit of Diversity is Weakening the American Identity ' in which white nationalists supremacists Robert Vandervoort and Peter Brimelow were joined by Rep. Steve King (R-IA)

Panelist Vandervoort read a rambling speech by Islamophobe Serge Trifkovic (who wasn't able to attend CPAC) that claimed the “cult of non-white, non-male, non-heterosexual victimhood” and “multiculturalist indoctrination” is ruining the West. “The native Western majorities will melt away,” and concluded, “Europeans and our trans-Atlantic cousins are literally endangered species. The facilitators of our destruction must be neutralized if we are to survive.”

Rosalie Porter attacked the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Acts for giving too much political influence to minorities.

Oh really Rosalie?  I like as an American citizen of African descent being able to vote in every election I've been eligible to participate in since 1980, electing people who share my ethnic heritage to represent my interests in Washington DC, Austin, the Harris County Courthouse, Houston City Hall and the HISD Board of Trustees.

Brimelow has a bigoted track record in stating that the Republican Party should only concentrate on white voters.    During this panel discussion he continued the hatefest by claiming that multiculturalism and bilingualism were “diseases” that could wreck American society as they empower minorities and suppress traditional American (read: white) groups.

He also took a swipe at Canada by asserting the officially bilingual nation was a good example of how bilingualism becomes a tool of elites to help minorities (Quebecers) at the expense of the majority, and went on to call multiculturalism and bilingualism a “ferocious attack on the working class.”

Rep. King, who is trying to get a bill passed that would make English the official language of the US, admitted he read Brimelow's book and gushed that he “eloquently wrote about the balkanization of America.”

Yeah, right.  All of y'all just earned nominations for next week's Shut Up Fool Awards and I thank y'all in advance for flapping your gums so I and other persons of color know who my enemies are.

And you wonder why African-Americans and increasing numbers of Latinos don't vote for any candidate with an 'R" behind their name.

'Work It' Ain't Working For The Puerto Rican Community Either

For those of you who have been keeping up with the latest news and views in the trans community as the 2k12 goes through week one of the 51 remaining in this year you are probably aware of the kerfluffle that has been building since May over the problematic show Work It.

It has garnered protests, pleas from transpeople and our allies to either rewrite, recast or cancel the show with those requests being ignored by ABC and the producers.

Maybe they should have listened to the trans community.

Thanks to perusing ENDAblog I have advised of another reason I can hate on the show besides the fact it's full of trans stereotypes and it sucks.  Can you say 'anti-Puerto Rican racism' people?   Thought you could..

Now ABC has another marginalized community on their azz about a replacement show that's getting negative reviews reams of negative publicity and a worse Nielsen rating than the canceled show it replaced.

And this latest controversy ain't gonna help those anemic ratings either.

ABC has two choices at this point.  They can either revamp Work It or put it out of its misery and cancel it.  Then again, it may be too late for Option A.

Rihanna Goes Off On Euro Racism

I love Rihanna, and I was not a happy camper to hear about her having to deal with two racist incidents on the European continent within mere days of each other.

She's there for the European leg of her 'Loud' tour, and while at a hotel in Portugal before her December 18 concert date in Lisbon was incensed when a guest went on a racist rant about Black women he aimed at her.

RiRi called his bigoted behind out before getting the manager involved and reported on her Twitter feed:
"I just met the most racist **** EVER!!! This man said the craziest shit abt black women called us dogs, sluts, we don't look like s**t, we don't belong in the same hotels ... needless to say, the #NIGGA in me came out! Bajan accent and all! Lol! Turns out the hotel manager's black.

"Oh and he had the NERVE to diss black people in his Tighty whitey's!!!! SMH...and tbh a lil black wouldn't hurt him (sic)"
Then while she was still fuming about what happened in Portugal a caca storm blew up about an article written about her signature style in the Dutch fashion magazine Jackie.  It referred to her as a 'n***ab**ch" in the headline and RiRi had to put now former editor of that magazine Eva Hoeke in check as well

"@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000's of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article.  "Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That's your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense...'N---A BITCH'?!"
"Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you ... F---K YOU!!!"
After a weak azz apology in which Hoeke tried to claim it was a misunderstood joke (where have we heard that bull feces before?)  she resigned as editor of Jackie magazine.

Has Jules Manson Been Arrested Yet For Threatening The First Family?

Back during Dubya's first term, there was a contentious argument happening about him on one of our online trans forums that got so heated that a person opposed to him made an intemperate remark calling for his violent untimely demise.

That person posted a note less than 48 hours later reporting that Secret Service agents had come knocking on their door, and one of the GW Bush supporters posted a note moments afterward bragging about calling the Secret Service and reporting the conversation.

Fast forward to 2011 and a comment made by a California Tea Klux Klan member and Ron Paul supporter in which in he called for on his Facebook page in his words "Assassinate the fucken n****r and his monkey children.'

That's a whole 'nother post I can go on full rant about in terms of being another example of the repeated racist behavior that leads me to dislike libertarianism and the Tea Klux Klan, but I'm staying focused for now on Jules Manson's behind.

Hmm, wonder if he's related to Charles?

I'm waiting for his buddies to rush forward and claim he was 'misspeaking'.  I'm expecting the half-assed insincere apology that will be forthcoming along with the Teabaggers and libertarians who will come rushing over here in the wake of me posting this claiming neither Manson or they 'aren't racist' because of the presence of a few token cookie chomping sellout knee-grows in their respective overwhelmingly vanillacentric movements.

I'm also waiting for the news stating that the Secret Service either busted Manson's azz or had a long chit chat with him.

The longer cricket chirping silence surrounds this latest call for the assassination of President Obama and members of the First Family, the more it reinforces in the minds of African-Americans that when it comes to our bodies, none is valued in the face of unbridled vanillacentric bigotry and racism, even those of the POTUS, FLOTUS and the First Daughters.

Post-racial America my azz.

TransGriot Note: According to the ObamaCrat blog, Manson has been visited by the Secret Service and has posted the half-assed apology I predicted he would.
