Bigot Bob Marshall 'Scurred' To Debate Danica Roem In VA Legislative Race

screen_shot_20170105_at_6.05.58_pm
The Virginia state elections are happening on November 7, and if you live in the Commonwealth of Virginia and haven't handled your electoral business, bust a move and handle it before it's too late.

Been interesting to see 32 year old Danica Roem make her historic bid to become the first out trans person in the US to get elected to a state legislature and become the first to do so since Althea Garrison was elected to the Massachusetts state legislature in 1990.

Roem is taking on District 13 long time incumbent Del. Bob Marshall (R), who is a longtime enemy of the TBLGQ community and has justifiably earned the nickname he hates in 'Bigot Bob'.

Image result for bob marshall virginiaThe 73 year old Marshall is a prime example of what I'm talking about when I say that the most dangerous bigot is the one who has the power to write legislation.

He sponsored Virginia's anti-gay marriage ban that was approved by a majority of Virginia voters in 2006 and was in effect until it was struck down in federal court and has been a longtime champion of anti- TBLGQ causes.

In 2015 he tried to get a bill passed that would have legalized discrimination against Virginia's TBLGQ community in hotels, restaurants, schools, hospitals, government agencies and businesses.

In this recent legislative session he sponsored Virginia's attempt to pass an anti-trans bill modeled on North Carolina's HB 2 that thankfully died.

Marshall, who have been in the Virginia House of Delegates since 1992 representing this northern Virginia district that covers Prince William and Manassas counties, has been a proud foe of our community.

Image result for Danica roem
So it's hypocritical that  Marshall is now crying crocodile white tears because he's being called 'Bigot Bob' while in the same breath, his transphobic behind is misgendering his Democratic opponent and refusing to debate her.

I guess when you've been so busy using your legislative power to oppress people, it doesn't leave you time to learn what the actual issues are that affect your district, huh?

Good luck trying to use her trans feminine status to 'scurr' people into voting for you.   She's already winning the fundraising battle by a 5-1 margin at the local, state and national levels because there are a lot of people, especially in the TBLGQ community that want you gone.

Image result for Danica roem
It would be exceedingly delicious to me as a trans woman to see on November 7 Bigot Bob get taken down by a trans woman.   Danica has definitely demonstrated in the primary campaign that she handily won over four opponents and in this general election campaign that she does have a keen grasp of those issues, and that's probably why he's avoiding her.

Bigot Bob can run, but he can't hide forever, and he will have to face Danica Roem sooner or later. He can either do it now, or when he's making his concession speech on November 7

Another group of people he'll have to face on November 7 is the voters of District 13, which went solidly for Clinton in last year's presidential election

Roland Martin Puts Pastor Paula White On Blast

Image result for roland martin
Pastor Paula White lived up to her last name by hypocritically defending Dolt 45 in a televised fake faith based dog and pony show with the disgraced Jim Bakker.

Image result for paula whiteWell, my Houston  homie Roland Martin wasn't having that nonsense, and took to the airwaves of the Tom Joyner Morning Show to put 'Pastor'' Paula White on blast for that WTF level blasphemous commentary, and then called her out on NewsOne Now
Here's his read of 'Pastor' Paula White, along with her nauseating WTF level commentary on Jim Bakker's show.

Thank you Roland for calling out this Pharisee and false prophet who is more about, like many white televangelists,  making a profit and upholding white supremacy.

They Tried To Tell You Trump Was Unfit To Serve As POTUS

Image result for Obama Hillary
And y'all were too caught up in your fee fees to listen, or arrogantly thought you knew better than the Black POTUS or the white female former secretary of state who is qualified to be president of the United States.

So now we're all suffering because of your lack of progressive political vision.

And yes far left people.  I'll be reminding you of your ginormous error in judgement from now until November 2020, assuming Orange Julius doesn't blow up the planet between now and then,

Here's Hillary boldly saying it

And President Obama

You were warned. so don't start saying jack about how incompetent Dolt 45 is when you knew the only thing standing between him and the Oval Office was Clinton.

She Tried To Warn Y'all About The Deplorables...

But some of you Green Tea Party fools were too busy hatin' on her, caught up in your Bernie feelings,  believing everything RussiaLeaks and jive turkey Julian Assange said that was negative about Hillary Clinton.

Still think she's 'worse than Trump?'    If you do, you're as delusional as Dolt 45. .

She was the only viable candidate in this race, and the only person standing between Trump and the Oval Office, and some of y'all were too stupid to see it.

Anyway, just to remind you what she said since some of you obviously missed it the first time, here's the video.

And she didn't stop there. She called out Alex Jones and the white supremacist movement, too

We could have had this woman as our president.   Instead we have a know nothing racist idiot.

The Texas Special Oppression Session Starts Today

Well peeps, this is the day we've been dreading across the Lone Star State in terms of the start of the Special Oppression Session called by Governor Greg Abbott (R) after being bullied into it by Lt Governor Dan Patrick (R) and the Texas Oppression Freedom Caucus.

The Special Oppression Session is slated to last 30 days, and the initial call on June 9 is to have some must pass sunset legislation pass that reauthorizes several Texas governmental organizations, including the Texas Medical Board that licenses doctors across the Lone Star State.

As to what to expect in this special session, the legislative process is the same except for two key differences.  There's less time than in a 140 day regular session, and if a bill is filled that doesn't fit the governor's call, it is out of bound and can't be considered.

Bills could be filed 30 days before the special session started.

Just as in the regular sessions, bills have to be sent to a House committee, passed out of that committee, go to the Calendars Committee to be scheduled to the floor for a vote, then if it passes the process is repeated in the Senate. for it to be placed on the Senate Intent Calendar for a floor vote.

Image result for greg abbott special sessionOnce that sunset legislation passes. the governor added an additional 19 items that he wanted to see hit his desk including the anti-trans bills we killed in the regular session, but they can only be heard once the sunset bill passes. .

HB 46 and HB 50 are the anti-trans bills filed that we'll be focusing our trans community attention on.along with SB 23, so keep lighting those GOP trans oppressors office phones up and urge your Texas state senator or House rep to oppose these unjust bills.

The resistance to this oppression starts on the south steps of the Pink Dome with an 11:00 AM rally calling out the unjust bills that the Texas GOP wishes to pass.

We have 30 days to kill these bills.   Let's get busy doing so

Dallas Cowboys Chances Of Hosting 2018 NFL Draft In Possible Jeopardy If TX Trans Hate Bill Passes

AT&T Stadium is shown before an NFL divisional playoff football game, Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, in Arlington, Texas. (AP Photo/LM Otero)
If the Texas GOP transphobes are successful during the upcoming Special Oppression Session in passing HB 2899, their Trans Hate Bill, one of the first casualties of that legislation may be the Dallas Cowboys chances of hosting the 2018 NFL Draft.

After 50 years of hosting the NFL Draft in New York, the NFL decided to start moving it around again to different cities.  Chicago hosted it in 2015 and 2016, and it was Philadelphia's turn to do so back in April.

Image result for 2017 nfl draft philadelphia
There were 22 teams and cities including Canton, OH interested in hosting the 2018 NFL Draft, which is scheduled to happen April 26-28.

Sixteen of them sent representatives to observe the draft happenings in Philadelphia and get a fell for how the event is run, with several subsequently putting in bids with the league for the event/

But Dallas is considered the frontrunner when the NFL makes its decision in August.

Image result for the star dallas cowboys headquarters
The Cowboys made their pitch to the NFL back in April to host the draft at two sites.  AT&T Stadium for the first two days and at The Star, their new $1.5 billion corporate headquarters and practice facility currently being built in suburban Frisco, TX for the last day of it.

But the Cowboys are now casting a nervous eye down I-35 south toward Austin as the July 18 Special Oppression Session date gets closer.

The NFL made it clear in comments it made during the regular session a few months ago that if Texas passed the anti-trans SB 6, it would impact the state's two NFL franchises in the Cowboys and the Houston Texans ability to host future Super Bowls or other league events.

That prompted a retaliatory salvo aimed at the NFL from a pissed off Gov. Abbott (R), so as of now the NFL and the Cowboys have been silent about their thoughts as the calendar draws closer to the start date of the special session.

But we'll see in a few weeks if the Texas Republican Party is willing and stupid enough to piss off the NFL and Jerry Jones to pass HB 2899 and if they go there, what the NFL (and Jerry Jones) will do in response.

Image result for 2018 nfl draft
I would rather have the opportunity to check out some of the NFL Draft related activities during next year's BTAC, but whether that happens depends on what the Texas GOP majority does..

Handle Your Election Business, GA 6

Image result for ossoff vs handel

Today is the runoff election in the Georgia 6th Congressional District between Democratic Candidate Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel.

Last month Ossoff just missed winning this congressional seat outright on April 18, getting 48% of the vote to Handel's 18% in a crowded field,  This was a seat that was once held by Newt Gingrich for 20 years and hasn't been held by a Democrat since Jimmy Carter lived in the White House.

And both sides want it badly.   The Democrats want it because it'll put them one seat closet to taking back control of the House in 2018 along with the psychic satisfaction of taking away a seat that once was a GOP bastion.    The Republicans are just as determined to keep it, and that has resulted in both sides spending $56 million in this race.

After all the ads, the campaign stops in the district, the ground games and canvassing for both sides being unleashed, it's all in the hands of the GA 6 voters to decide who gets the seat and momentum toward the 2018 midterm elections as the nation and national news media awaits the results.

So if you live in the GA 6th Congressional District, go handle your electoral business .  This one is extremely close and your vote could decide this election.   You have until 7 PM EDT to cast it, so go do so and take a few friends to the polls with you.

Handle your election business GA 6.

Laverne's 'The View' Suggestion As To Why Trump Hasn't Done A Pride Proclamation

Had to chuckle when I saw this video of Laverne Cox's recent appearance on ABC's The View and Joy Behar asked her for her thoughts on Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) Orange Is The New Black, transgender rights issues, trans people in the media and why 45 hasn't issued a pride proclamation like his predecessor President Obama did.

Laverne as usual does a fantastic job in driving home the point that TBLGQ Americans are also Americans, then slides a comment aimed at 45 you'll have to watch.

Enjoy

Congratulations Councilmember-elect Narvaez!

Image result for omar narvaez dallas city council
A few hours ago I received another reminder of just how many amazing people I have in my life and who call me their friend.

Narvaez sworn in
I've known Omar Narvaez for several years now thanks to his work with Lambda Legal in their Dallas regional office, as a past three time president of the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas and his service on the Dallas County School Board.   He was elected in 2015 to his first full six year term on the Dallas County School Board after being appointed in May 2014 to fill a vacancy on that board.

Image result for omar narvaez dallas city council.

He recently ran for the Dallas City Council District 6 seat in West Dallas currently held by Monica Alonzo, who is also the Dallas Mayor Pro Tem and sister of Texas state rep Roberto Alonzo (D).

Narvaez during the May 6 city election made it to the runoff with Alonzo, and armed with endorsements from the AFL-CIO and former Dallas city councilmember Angela Hunt, beat her in the runoff.  All the District 6 precincts reported in a few hours ago and have been counted, so that means Omar is the councilmember-elect for District 6.

It wasn't close.  Narvaez and #TeamOmar flipped the Election Day script, and garnered 1132 votes (58% of the vote) to Alonzo's 828 votes (42% of the vote).

Alonzo was one of three incumbent Dallas council members and allies of current Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings to lose their council seats yesterday.  Alonzo was joined by her council colleagues Tiffinni Young in District 7, the southeast Dallas district that includes Fair Park where the Texas State Fair happens, and Erik Wilson in the south Dallas centered District 8.

Mayor Rawlings had endorsed Alonzo and Young, and stayed neutral in the District 8 race.

Image result for Dallas city hall

"I'm ready to fight the corruption and get it stopped at City Hall and to stop the wasteful use of our tax dollars on boondoggle projects,"Narvaez said in a Dallas Observer story.  "For far too long, District 6 has been underrepresented;  It's time for thoughtful and intelligent leadership at City Hall.

And it looks like on runoff election night, District 6 agrees with you.

Congratulations Councilmember-elect Narvaez!   Amazing accomplishment, and know you are looking forward to this exciting new challenge of representing your District 6 constituents at Dallas City Hall.

Gov. Abbott's Press Conference Today

Image result for greg abbott
Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has called for a press conference to take place in Austin at 2:30 PM CDT that will be watched from both sides of the political aisle in Texas and probably have the nation's attention.

It is assumed that at this press conference, Gov Abbott will announce his decision on whether or not to call a special session, and if he does, what issues the special session call will entail.
 .
Image result for Dan Patrick toiletEver since the Memorial Day sine die date of a contentious 85th Texas Legislative session, rumors have been flying even that day under the Pink Dome that we were cruising toward a special session.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R) has been loudly pushing for a special session in large part because he's pissed off his unjust SB 6 that he got Sen Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) to push died in the Texas House.

Abbott is in a no win situation.  Only he under the Texas Constitution has the power to call a special session.  He also decides what bills to bring up during that special session that can last up to a maximum of 30 days.

During a special session, Texas lawmakers can only consider legislation that fits into the governor's 'call', or the issue that the governor specifies in the special session proclamation that will be read during the upcoming press conference,

The governor also because of Texas Constitution Article 3, Section 40 faces no limitation of the number of issues that can be designated for consideration in the special session proclamation.

The governor can also call as many special sessions as he wishes. Back in 2003, then Governor Rick Perry (R) called the Lege into special session three consecutive times in order to execute the infamous partisan Delaymandering of Texas congressional districts.

And don't think that 2018 Texas GOP primary politics aren't entering into the political calculus of this. The governor and lieutenant governor are up for re-election next year, and it's been rumored that Patrick is angling to go after Abbott despite previous declarations that he is running for reelection as the lieutenant governor. .

Image result for Dan Patrick Greg Abbott
If Abbott calls a special session to attack Texas trans people, he'll not only look like he's Dan Patrick's puppet and not his own man, he'll piss Texas trans people and our allies off if he adds the anti-trans BS to the call. .

Abbott will also piss off Texas taxpayers who have to foot the $800,000 bill for this 30 day exercise in Texas Republican legislative oppression.

If he doesn't call the special session, then Dan Patrick will probably use his decision not to do so as an attack weapon in a potential Republican gubernatorial primary (assuming he runs for governor next year) by claiming that Abbott is not a 'real conservative' and doesn't want to stand up for your 'Texas Values'

FYI Lt Dan, if you think that attacking trans people is good for your political prospects, ask ex Texas state reps Debbie Riddle (R-Tomball) and Gilbert Pena (R-Pasadena), former South Carolina state senator Lee Bright, and former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory.

Transphobia is increasingly becoming, even in GOP leaning Texas, a losing political strategy, and you keep attacking Texas trans kids at your political peril.

So in a few hours I and a lot of people in the Lone Star State will be watching to see if we'll have to make another trip to Austin to fight Republican legislative tyranny aimed at the Texas trans community for cynical GOP political primary gain.

Pittsburgh (and Philadelphia) Voted For Hillary, Not 45

No automatic alt text available.

The political science joke about Pennsylvania is that it is Pittsburgh in the west, Philadelphia in the east and Alabama in the middle.

We all know that Trump shockingly won this state narrowly on Election Night in large part to three third party candidates siphoning off just enough votes to allow Trump to eke out a narrow (ugh) victory in the Keystone State.

Image result
Dear Orange Misleader seems to have it in his head that the two largest cities in the state of Pennsylvania voted for him when he cited the Steel City as his jacked up rationale for pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Change Accords that 195 nations signed.

No Dumb Donald, Pittsburgh didn't vote for you, it voted for Hillary, and it wasn't close.

Hillary Clinton received 363, 017 votes (56.4%) of the votes cast in Allegheny County to Trump's 257, 488 (.40% ) .

Gary Johnson received 15,854 (2%) ,Jill Stein  5,021 (0.8%) and Darrell Castle got 1,793 (0.3%)

No automatic alt text available.

In Philadelphia, it was a blowout    Clinton received 560, 542 votes (82.4% ) of the votes cast in Philadelphia County to Trump's  105, 418 (15.5%).

Johnson got 6,786 (1%). Stein 6,452 (0.9%) and Castle 1,029 (0.2%)

So nope Dumb Donald, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, the two largest cities in the state, didn't vote for you. and in both cities it was a massive rejection of you.

TransGriot Note:  Thanks to TransGriot reader Jason Byrd for sending me the Allegheny and Philadelphia Counties 2016 election data that inspired the post.

Islamophobia Being Deployed Again In Another Pearland Political Race

Pearland City Council Pos. 7 candidates Woody Owens, left, and Dina Kasseb.  Photo: Houston Chronicle
Did the conservative white males in Pearland not get the message that Islamophobia is not okay at any time, especially when deployed during a campaign?

Islamophobic comments made by the incumbent aimed at Dalia Kasseb probably played a role in Mike Floyd comfortably winning his Pearland ISD school race, and now we may have a replay happening in the runup to the June 10 Pearland mayoral and city council runoffs.

Image result for Pearland Texas

30 year old pharmacist Dalia Kasseb is making a historic run for a Pearland City Council seat as the first Muslim ever to run for office in Brazoria County.  On May 6 topped a crowded field of candidates in the Position 7 council race to capture 41% of the vote to Owens 21%

She noted in a Houston Chronicle story that when they have met in person, he seemed cordial, but Owens' has been sharing anti- Muslim message and comments on his Facebook page,.

"Our few meetings have been very pleasant,"Kasseb said.  "But for him to be sharing that stuff on Facebook shows what he really believes."

The controversy also has had an indirect impact on the Pearland mayor's race.  Longtime Pearland Mayor Tom Reid is being challenged by 36 year old Quentin Wiltz,  The 91 year old Reid has held the mayor's chair for a combined 34 years (1978-90, 1995-present), and publicly endorsed Owens on who served four terms on Pearland's city council, back on April 6.

Image result for quentin wiltz
But Reid has been silent since the story broke about the Islamophobic comments that Owens has been sharing on his Facebook page since February 2015.   If Reid doesn't share those opinions, then he may want to open his mouth and say so before June 10 because early voting for the mayoral runoff election begins on May 30, and Wiltz garnered 45% of the vote back on May 6.

Pearland is a fast growing southern suburb of Houston that has grown from a small town of less than 5,000 residents in the 1960's to over 130,000 people, and its population has tripled and gotten more diverse since 2000.  It is currently 47% Anglo, 25% Latinx, 17% African American and 9% Asian .

But it seems as though some peeps either aren't aware of that or are being willfully ignorant about that fact, and the clock is ticking toward the June 10 conclusion of this runoff campaign.

Moni's SB 6 Opposition Testimony

Image may contain: 1 person, standing, sky and outdoor
As many of you TransGriot readers are aware of,  I was one of those 271 Texans who headed to Austin and spent several hours waiting in the overflow rooms in our state capitol building to express our oral opposition to SB 6, the Texas Transgender Oppression Act.

There were another 1302 Texans who expressed their distaste for SB online

Thanks to my friends at Transform Houston, I now have video of that March 7 testimony in front of the Senate State Affairs Committee for you to watch.

Enjoy

Harris County Democratic Party Chair Election Today

Image result for Harris County Democratic Party
My home county, Harris County is the largest by population in the Lone Star State and provides 22% of the vote totals in any statewide election    It is also one of the most diverse counties in the state thanks to its county seat of Houston

We just had the pleasure of watching it turn blue in the 2016 election cycle and want to solidify those  Democratic gains in 2018 and other future elections

 / San Antonio Express-News
Despite that success in turning Harris County from purple to blue, Lane Lewis, who has served ats the HCDP chair since 2011 resigned in February and today at HCDP party headquarters the precinct chairs will gather to select his replacement

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, closeupTwo favorites have emerged so far in Lillie Schechter, who was endorsed by the Houston LGBT Caucus, Eartha Johnson and Dominique Davis, who is active in the HCDP leadership ranks and is garnering an increasing number of supporters for her to get the job.

One of them is me.

Unlike some of the other candidates, Dominique actually reached out to me and asked for my support.

I attended a listening session she held yesterday,in Southeast Houston  with a diverse group of precinct chairs and was impressed with her knowledge of the party operations, her willingness to listen to the concerns of the precinct chairs, solicit their ideas for making the HCDP better  and also after it was done, ask me what can be done to increase and have sustained representation of trans people in the Harris County Democratic Party ranks

I believe Dominique Davis would be the perfect choice to succeed Lane Lewis as HCDP chair,. I'm not only enthusiastically endorsing her for HDCP chair, I'm urging people to make that happen at today County Executive Committee meeting..

Thee meeting at HCDP headquarters is open to the general public, but only the precinct chairs will be allowed to vote for our next Harris County Democratic Party leader.

It is running from 3-6 PM and will take place at the IBEW Union hall next door to HCDP headquarters at 1445 North Loop West Fwy.

And yes, I'll be in the house to watch it..

TransGriot Update:  Lillie Schechter ended up getting elected as HCDP chair with 190 votes over Eartha Johnson with 118.   Dominique received 21 votes.

Conservafools, Why You Mad Black Patriot Players Won't See Your POTUS?

Here
Been chuckling ever since the New England Patriots Super Bowl LI overtime win that disgusted me about the increasing number of  Patriot players who have decided or made it clear they would not be heading to the White House when the team goes for the traditional championship visit.

So far as of this writing, players Martellus Bennett, LaGarrette Blount, Devin McCourty, Dont'a Hightower, Alan Branch and Chris Long have announced they will skip the White House visit.

That is pissing off conservafools who seem to have forgotten when Tom Brady did the same thing in 2015 to President Obama and was a coward about it, and left racist comments on Breitbart about it..

They ain't liking it now that it's happening to their almighty white so called president, and have taken to Twitter to post racist commentary at the three so far Black players who have made their political intentions clear..

Image result for Devin McCourty
“I’m not going to the White House,” said Devin McCourty to Time in a text message. “Basic reason for me is I don’t feel accepted in the White House. With the president having so many strong opinions and prejudices I believe certain people might feel accepted there while others won’t.”

Bravo gentlemen for speaking out and standing on your principles, unlike your quarterback.

So y'all mad that Black Patriot players ain't feeling your POTUS?   Well, they're just part of the 65 million people who aren't since Trump made it clear during the campaign he hated Black and other non white people.

And please don't even try to hold up Omarosa and those other kneegrow sellout at that jacked up Black History Month event as evidence that he doesn't.

Trump Gets Snubbed By British Parliament

Image result for Trump snubbed by british parliament
One of the lies that Trump told during his scampaign is that President Obama was 'hated around he world' and he would bring honor and respect to the presidency.

Really?  President Obama left office with mad respect in much of the world,  a Nobel Peace Prize and a 57% approval rating at home.

It only took Trump eight days to undo the eight years of hard work President Obama has done to restore our international rep damaged by the GW Bush presidency.  World leaders were horrified about the prospect of you becoming POTUS even before you got elected.

There were protests across the planet including Antarctica specifically aimed at you just one day into your mispresidency.

Image result for obama address british parliament
It must be galling to Trump, his massive ego and his fact free minions that he will not get to do something that President Obama did during his first POTUS term in speaking to a joint session of the British Parliament at Westminster Hall

President Obama, BTW was the first American POTUS ever to be given that honor.

.

John Bercow, the Speaker of the House of Commons, has announced that because of his racist and sexist attitudes, he will not be extended an invitation to speak to a joint session of Parliament.  .

Speaker Bercow said he was 'strongly opposed' to Trump speaking to the House of Commons and that being invited to speak before Parliament is not an 'automatic right' but an 'earned privilege'.

In addition to this being a huge embarrassment to Trump, it's also a political headache for British PM Theresa May, who invited him come to Great Britain during her US visit    This also comes as 2 million Britons have signed a petition urging that the state visit not happen

Somewhere in northwest DC President Obama is probably laughing at you.

And so am I.

Say Hello To Texas' First Transgender Mayor

In order to move trans acceptance in red states, we have to have people who actually live in and love them as much as the right wing haters fighting them tooth and nail to do so.

It's also even more important that trans people get involved in politics so that we are helping to shape the laws that govern us, not be on the political menu.

While Texas gay and lesbian folks have been getting elected to political positions for decades from judge to the state legislature to even mayor of Houston,  it has been a steeper climb for Texas trans people to make those same political advances

Phyllis Frye after being appointed by Mayor Annise Parker in 2010 became the first transgender judge in the nation and the Lone Star State.   But we are still trying to get a trans person elected to public office in our state.

New Hope Mayor Jess Herbst
Was happy to hear that we had some unexpected Texas political history recently made.   You have seen me chronicle on these electronic pages Jenifer Rene Pool's efforts to get elected to the Houston City Council and in the last cycle in 2016 Harris Country Commissioner.   She made Texas political history along the way last spring by becoming the first out Texas trans person to win a political party primary election.

Image result for New Hope Texas
New Hope, Texas is a town of 670 residents 40 miles northeast of Dallas in the conservative bastion of Collin County,   58 year old Jess Herbst has lived in the town with her wife and two daughters since 1999 and in 2003, Herbst was elected as an alderman to the Town Council.

Herbst rose to become its road commissioner and mayor pro tem.   When New Hope Mayor Johnny Hamm passed away in May while seeking reelection for another two year term, it was too late to remove him from the ballot.   Hamm posthumously won reelection to the mayor's chair and Herbst, already serving as the mayor pro tem, was selected to fill his two year term.

Herbst subsequently came out in a letter to the residents of New Hope.

Herbst has also been chronicling her trans journey and her life at her blog.

Congrats Mayor Herbst, Hope you can stay in that office, get elected for your own term and continue working for the people of New Hope to the best of your ability.

So Bernie, Stein and Johnson Voters, Enjoying The Presidency You Enabled?

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, standing and text
So Bernie, Stein and Johnson voters, after four days of this disastrous presidency that is worse than I even foresaw, I have one question for you.

Do you still delusionally think that Hillary Clinton is 'worse than Trump'?

Hey, Clinton, her supporters  President Obama and yours truly tried to warn y'all before November 8, but y'all were all into your foaming at the mouth Hillary hate and your fee fees.  Well, your irrational hatred of her and third party votes are going to cost us all the progressive progress we've made

You had the right to vote third party and cast your votes however you wished to do so.   But 2016 was not the year for a protest vote or trying to dismiss what Hillary, President Obama and others were saying on the campaign as 'scare tactics'.

And if you're upset because I'm once again pointing out y'all are responsible, and especially if you lived in a swing state for enabling this disgusting presidency, too damn bad.

Well, after four days of this Trump misadministration, are you scared for this country now?.

Anthony Anderson's On Point 'Black-ish' January 11 Episode Monologue

And soon, Dre — who'd remained uncharacteristically silent on the matter up until that point — lays bare the betrayal he feels, not only from the election results, but from the conversations in its wake.
Last night i was busy flipping channels between Star and the Black-ish episode entitled 'Lemons' that focused on the tensions that have been exacerbated in this country since Trump (yuck) won this contentious 2016 presidential election with three million fewer votes.

Anthony Anderson's character Andre Johnson during his monologue encapsulated many of the feelings I and many African Americans have concerning this recent election and the subsequent loud and contentious debates that in some cases have ended friendships.

Here's the full monologue.

“You don’t think I care about this country? I love this country, even though at times it doesn’t love me back. For my whole life, my parents, my grandparents, me — for most black people, this system has never worked for us. But we still play ball, try to do our best to live by the rules even though we knew they would never work out in our favors. Had to live in neighborhoods that you wouldn’t drive through; send our kids to school with books so beat up you couldn’t read them; worked jobs that you wouldn’t even consider in your nightmares.
Black people wake up every day believing that our lives are going to change, even though everything around us says it’s not. Truth be told, you ask most black people and they’d tell you that no matter who won this election, they didn’t expect the hood to get better. But they still voted, because that’s what you’re supposed to do.
You don’t think I’m sad that Hillary didn’t win? That I’m not terrified about what Trump’s about to do? I’m used to things not going my way. I’m sorry that you’re not and it’s blowing your mind, but excuse me if I get a little offended that I didn’t see all of this outrage when everything was happening to all of my people since we were stuffed on boats in chains. I love this country as much if not more than you do, and don’t you ever forget that.”

Truth.  I emphatically get what that Anderson monologue to the tune of Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit was saying about many African Americans feeling like this country doesn't love us back.
I expressed the same sentiments in a TransGriot post I wrote in the immediate aftermath of Trump being declared the winner.
Right now I'm once again processing the fact that my country hates me.   That's not something I wanted to or needed to ponder before going to sleep tonight.
-TransGriot,  November 9, 2016

I hear 'I hate you' with every white person gleefully cheering for Trump. stating they proudly voted for him or expressing pride that he won.  I hear that with every white supremacist I see giving Nazi salutes while hollering 'Hail Trump' and every smirking Bernie or Buster who loudly and wrongly claims Bernie would have won.

That's why he is #notmypresident, and I will never respect him.  I will gleefully be dancing in the streets when he leaves office on January 20, 2021

Why I'm Still Pissed At The Bernie Or Busters & Third Party Voters

Yep, still pissed off over the results of the 2016 election and specifically at two groups, the Bernie or Busters and third party voters.   Your talking points, excuses, and spin are getting more annoying and aggravating by the day as you realize too late just how badly you screwed this country up over your white privileged fee fees.

One of the excuses I'm so tired of Bernie or Busters regurgitating is the 'Hillary was a terrible candidate' lie.
Yeah, she was so terrible she got 3 million more votes nationally than Trumplethinskin.

The bottom line is you are responsible for greasing the skids for the election of Donald Trump

No, it's not about those who chose not to vote, who were suppressed from doing so or whatever other excuse that you are trying to float out there to make yourself feel better about greasing the skids for the Trump presidency.

I'm tired of people (and predominately far left white people) trying to riverdance away from the fact they let lies about Hillary Clinton cloud their electoral judgment and enabled his election.
I'm also tired of them ignoring the fact that white supremacist racism also played a role in his election along with a heaping helping of sexism and misogyny.

But then again, the Bernie or Busters are probably ignoring it because they engaged in those tactics themselves in the Democratic primary and gave Trump a road map to follow to attack her in his campaign.
It's about those folks who knew that Hillary Clinton was the only thing standing between us and a Trump presidency with the SCOTUS and everything else at stake, and you STILL voted third party with the dubious 'I'm voting my principles' excuse.
So I hope those vanillacentric privilege flavored 'principles' keep you comforted when the latest Trump/GOP/conservative movement outrage happens.   It is marginalized and non-white Americans who are going to suffer and have our human rights attacked first because of your 'principles'.
I have nothing but contempt for you, especially if you voted third party in a swing state knowing the potential consequences of that vote simply to salve your ego.  Your boy Sanders got his azz whipped in the Democratic primary by Hillary Clinton because he ran a campaign that didn't connect with non-white voters

I'm even more pissed off about the results because I lived through this bad movie before in 2000 when you far lefties didn't think Vice President Al Gore was ideologically pure enough for you.

Y'all went gaga for Ralph Nader, who didn't have a prayer of winning, and we ended up with George W. Bush as a result.   Now we have someone headed to the White House that's worse than Dubya.

And to comment on something else that I've heard in liberal-progressive world post election is the 'Hillary didn't excite me' comment.  Why should you have to be 'excited about a candidate' in order to vote for them? That's another bull feces laden excuse.

Black voters have had long lists of Democratic candidates at all levels of government who didn't excite them, but unlike you Green Tea Party peeps, we think and act strategically because we are quite aware that the Republican Party has been hostile to us for the last 40 years.

We would rather have
someone in office we can persuade to see our policy point of view at least 80% of the time than a Republican who will ignore us 100% of the time and act as a legislative oppressor.

That person in this cycle that a majority of the Black community collectively we saw as persuadable was Hillary Clinton.

Because we didn't want the Trumpenfuhrer to succeed President Obama, this election was deeply personal for to me and many African Americans.   That was also the case for the Latinx and Muslim community   It was also deeply personal for those of us in Trans America, because our humanity and human rights were on the ballot.   Whoever won this election would basically determine how our lives and human rights would play out over the next four years.

But you fauxgressives proved once and for all that the only thing that matters is your feelings, and not the liberal progressive causes you profess to support.

You peeps knew the stakes of this election and how important it was.  Republicans weren't enamored of Trump either, but on November 8 they got in formation and pulled the lever for him because they understand something that far too many people on the left ignorantly don't.

If you don't get your candidates elected, you can't push your policy agenda. Neither can you get liberal progressive policies from a conservative government.

Unfortunately, that lesson is going to made crystal clear over the next four years because of your fauxgressive lack of political vision..
