Tamala Savage Show Interview (Part 1)
Last night I taped an interview on the Tamala Savage show that got rather interesting. It originally was supposed to be a single episode. But as with any discussion on trans issues there's a lot of ground to cover and discuss and not enough time to cover the issues, so I have been invited back on for an additional show.
We also had two fools call in that showed their anuses, and a freshly out gay teen that was being bullied and needed counseling.
FYI peeps, if you're a trans or SGL teen that needs help, someone to talk to or are contemplating suicide, call the Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386
While you're waiting for that next show, you can listen to Part 1 by clicking on this link.

Moni's SistersTalk Radio Interview
Genia and I have tried to set up an interview on her and Andrea's SistersTalk Radio show on BlogTalkRadio for at least a year but haven't been able to make the timing work for both of us until last night
With TERF's and transphobic comments running wild on her MichFest thread, she contacted me for my very definite opinions on MichFest.
During the interview I gave some of the historical context and backstory that expresses itself in the frequent transphobic eruptions and virulent hatred the white supremacist TERF's have for girls like us.
Enough jibber-jabber, here's the link to the SistersTalk Radio interview with Genia.
Hope you enjoy it.

Consuella is now part of the broadcast team bringing you InsighT, Washington DC's transgender talk radio show.
Consuella is joined by Wesley Garson, Kisha De'javu Allure and Sami Haidar on their show which is broadcast at 6 PM EST Sundays on WLVS Radio.
You can check InsighT out via this link at www.listenvisionlive.com

Upcoming Can We Talk For Real Show Appearance
I have the honor and pleasure of doing interviews either in print, radio or on radio podcasts on behalf of this community.
Hopefully you'll be seeing my smiling face discussing trans issues in television and video interviews in 2013 because I do want to put the GLAAD National POC Media training I received last year to good use.
Enough jibber-jabber. My first 2013 interview will be courtesy of the Can We Talk For REAL podcast team of Terry Boi, Michelle and Ina on January 16.

Strange Fruit-Racial Divisions & The TDOR
As a former Louisville resident I've been keeping up with WFPL-FM's latest show Strange Fruit, hosted by Niece and Nephew. (AKA Dr. Kaila Story and Jaison Gardner to the rest of y'all). They were discussing on this latest show their experience of attending the local Louisville TDOR, noting that the names of the people being memorialized were Black and Latina, but having an event that was overwhelmingly white.
All thirteen of the US transwomen killed in the November 2011 to November 2012 period that we tracked for TDOR were Black or Latina.
So guess who they called to discuss the nature of race and class in the trans community and who was happy to discuss it, especially in the wake of my own not so pleasant experience at this year's Houston TDOR?
Yep, the podcast is up for the latest edition of Strange Fruit and y'all can hear it by clicking on this link.

WFPL-FM 'Strange Fruit' Show Premieres
I'd heard this show was in the works, but WFPL-FM 89.3, Louisville's public access radio station is kicking off a brand new podcast radio show dedicated to the issues facing the local community.
It's entitled Strange Fruit: Musings on Politics, Pop Culture and Black Gay Life (after the Billie Holiday song) and features as its hosts two of my fave people in my other hometown in Dr. Kaila A Story and Jaison Gardner. And yes, in the interest of journalistic integrity 'Nephew' Jaison refers to me as Auntie Monica..
But back to the post.
The first episode is entitled, "Does Your Mama Know?" and looks at the coming out process for LGBT people of color. They started a roundtable discussion with young people who have come out to their families, talked to some mamas about their reactions to their children coming out, then had a conversation with Lisa C. Moore, editor of Does Your Mama Know?: An Anthology of Black Lesbian Coming Out Stories.
You can keep up with what's happening on Strange Fruit via Facebook and Twitter, and the show's hosts enthusiastically welcome your feedback. They post a new podcast episode each Saturday; so stay tuned.
I know I definitely plan on doing so, and congratulations Dr. K and 'Nephew'. May your show be a major success.

Thanks Angelica!
Wanted to take a moment to thank Angelica Ross for inviting me to participate in her inaugural 'Miss Ross Live' podcast that happened in the 4-6 PM CDT timeslot yesterday afternoon . That two hours seemed like it just flew by, and it was also cool to have Isis King, Janet Mock and Kyle on the show as well as we talked about not only the CeCe McDonald and Paige Clay cases, but touched upon a number of issues affecting the African-American trans community
It's also nice to know that y'all think as highly of me that I do of all of you, and as I've said more than a few times, our community is going to be in great hands with up and coming leaders like you
Listen to internet radio with AngelicaRoss on Blog Talk Radio
Looking forward to the next time my schedule allows me to participate on your show.

Told Y'all 'Kandi Koated Nights' Was Going To Be A Transphobic Tranwreck
Can I call it or what?
I wrote a post a few hours before it happened on December 21 asking the question if Kandi Burruss' podcast was going to be a transphobic trainwreck.
Well, here's what Cheryl Courtney-Evans had to say about it on her A Bitch For Justice blog.

Tonight's Kandi Koated Nights Podcast-Potential Transphobic Trainwreck?
Kandi Burruss from the 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' reality TV show has a Wednesday evening podcast at 10:30 PM EST and got a heads up from Erin Andrea Bonner about the subject of tonight's show.
Surfed over to the website and this is what it had to say about tonight's subject:.
Make sure you all log on to kkn tomorrow night (tonight) as it will be our last live show of the year and we are going out with a bang our topic is “If you fell in love with someone and found out they were a transgender would you stay in love with them”?
Why do I have the sinking feeling this will be along the 'Hate on Transpeople for the Holidays' theme and is a transphobic train wreck about to happen?
Hope it isn't, but lately cispeople's track records when it comes to discussing aspects of our lives without one of us in the room to keep them in reality check mode, especially during this holiday season hasn't exactly been exemplary.
Will have to check this show out and and see if my suspicions about this Kandi Koated Nights podcast are confirmed.
TransGriot Note: Yep, they were. It was a transphobic train wreck.

Moni's On TransFM Hellidaze 2011 Tonight
Ethan's 13 days of Christmas Broadcasts on TransFM, AKA Hellidaze kicked off last night at 5:00 PM EST and will run through Christmas Day. They will run every day from 5:00 PM - Midnight EST and on Christmas Day will run from 10:AM to Midnight EST.
You know I was going to be scheduled as a guest on one of those shows at some point during the 13 days of broadcasts and my turn comes up later today at 8 PM CST
TransFM founder and creator Ethan St. Pierre said in an Examiner interviews, “We have a wide variety of shows planned, with guests that will surely entertain, intrigue, and provoke emotion. We realize that the holiday season can be a lonely time for people in our community, and we would like to bring you friendly voices from people who care about our community and care about you. We will have our phone lines open 24/7 during our holiday broadcasts for those who wish to join in the conversation either on or off the air. Please give us a call at 978-518-1835.”
And yes, our allies and supporters are most welcome to join in the conversation.
If you can't tune in live, it will be archived so you can listen to it later. As usual I'll have a lot to say about the current state of the trans community and a lot of other subjects besides trans ones.
