As of 11:37 PM CST on January 7, I had the 6.5 millionth visitor surf by and peruse my blog in its 11th year of unapologetic truth telling.
It was helped along by my post discussing the SB 6 press conference unexpectedly going viral and sadly, two memorial posts for our first two trans murder victims of 2017.
I also find it apropos that it happened mere days after I passed my January 1 blogiversary.
Once again, I thank you longtime and new TransGriot readers who surf by and read the current and archived posts I have here. 2017 is probably going to be a busy year for me personally and writing wise, and I thank everyone for their kind words and letting me know how much this blog means to them.
On to the next milestone of 7 million hits!

TransGriot Post Number 10,000!
This is TransGriot post number 10,000 you are reading.
Took a lot of writing, ten years, a lot of sweat equity, 6.4 million readers and hundreds of thousands of words to get to this milestone point in TransGriot's life.
It also takes the writing skills to ensure you loyal readers not only stay here for a while, but share these posts and recommend them to the people in your influence circles.
I thank you for doing that. I also thank those of you who hit the TransGriot Tip Jar and drop some cash from time to time to help support the blog. Some of you have even donated computers to help me keep telling it like it T-I-S is about our trans lives, speak truth to power and back up my words with activist deeds..
It's also apropos I'm hitting this milestone not only during the tenth anniversary year of this blog, but not long after I was just honored by GLAAD for the decade of sustained blogging excellence and the use of this platform I've been blessed with to move the needle toward trans acceptance one blogpost at a time.
It's also been a joy to fulfill the mission of this blog:
It has also brought me some unexpected blessings in terms of getting to go to conferences, attend several White House events, give speeches, do panel discussions and meet and call my friends some amazing people in our community.
And it all started because Jordana would stop pushing me in the fall of 2005 to start TransGriot. I'm now 10,000 posts into it later, and I'm considered one of the best trans bloggers out there with the awards and respect of my peers to back it up.
So it's on to the next milestone. 15,000 posts coming up.

The TransGriot blog's mission is to become the griot of our community. I will introduce you to and talk about your African descended trans brothers and trans sisters across the Diaspora, reclaim and document our chocolate flavored trans history, speak truth to power, comment on the things that impact our trans community from an Afrocentric perspective and enlighten you about the general things that go on around me and in the communities that I am a member of.

Post Number 9000!
The milestones just keep on coming here at TransGriot, and it caps an amazing week in which I had two of my posts, the Dating a Trans Woman Doesn't Make A Cis Man Gay and one slamming the upcoming whitewashed and trans erasing Stonewall movie go viral within days of each other. for the first time ever on my blog.
I sincerely thank you readers for making that TransGriot blogging first happen. Another milestone I need to celebrate is that you are looking at Post Number 9000 since I started the blog back on January 1, 2006.
Still hard to believe at times that after near ten years, I've not only written that many post and the hundreds of words that comprise them, it's a blessing that I'm still be writing daily posts on this electronic platform.
I'm keenly aware that some of the blogs that either started before or after I did for various reasons are no longer publishing, and that saddens me to think about that from time to time.
There have been some bumps and bruises along the way to 9000 posts.. Several moves including a major one from Louisville where this blog started back to my native Houston. Times in which I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep pressing on with it. A kerfluffle or two in which my haters REAL:LY disliked something I wroteconcerning whiteness and white supremacy and called me 'racist' for it. .
There have also been numerous times my unapologetically Black trans tell it like it T-I-S is self has been called everything but a child of God by my haters, in cluding, the N-word, B-word, T-word, a combination of the three, or all three at the same time
But those of you who chip in on the blog's Tip Jar, who read my posts and the people I meet at various conferences and events around the country keep letting me know how much you appreciate me and my writing. My writing means nothing if i don't have people reading it and sharing it with others.
Now more than ever it's vital it is is to have a Black trans owned and operated blog fearlessly speaking truth to power inside and outside our community, talking about trans issues from an Afrocentric perspective while also discussing about our trans community history and current events in the world around us.
I hand one person on the anniversary of her July 16 birthday call me a modern day Ida B. Wells. It's funny and an interesting comparison because when I started TransGriot, I was simply shooting to pick up where the late Roberta Angela Dee left off.
To be compared to and outstanding Black writer and journalists like Ms. Wells is something I hope I can live up to as a writer with a focus on human rights and social justice issues..
It lets me know that the commitment I made to ensure that trans issues of interest to African-American and other trans people of color had a voice and platform in the blogosphere is appreciated my my readers and proven by some of the awards I've either won or been nominated for.
That's to all my readers over the years old and new, for the times that you have shared my posts to your influence circles, and the college professors who have informed me they use them at times for reading assignments in their classes. It's not only humbling to know that, but it ensures I don't get sloppy with my writing, lazy with my thought patterns, and stay on point with my commentary.
Well, only 1000 more posts to go until I reach the 10,000 post milestone.. Time to get busy doing the writing to get there.

6 Million Hits!
A little apropos it happened on Malcolm X's birthday and also on a day in which I'm traveling to Austin to deliver a keynote speech on the UT-Austin campus.
6 million hits in 9 years. Can't thank you TransGriot readers enough for not only taking time out of your busy day to read the posts I've compiled, but share them and tell your friends about the blog.
I also thank those of you who from time to time drop some change in the TransGriot tip jar. It helps me pay for Internet access, build up a repair fund when I need to repair a computer, or save for the day when I need to replace one.
Thanks once again for helping me reach 6 million visitors! On to the next milestone.

5.5 Million Hits!
Thanks to you loyal readers, I passed the 5.5 million hit milestone at 11:53 PM CDT today. That's a lot of readers since I reached the 5 million hit milestone back on July 4 of last year..
And how apropos is it that I'm getting my 5.5.millionth visitor on the eve of the Transgender Day of Visibility for a blog that was founded to heighten the visibility of the trans communities of color?
I also get to find out the day before my May 4 birthday whether or not I can call TransGriot a GLAAD Media Award winning blog instead of just a GLAAD Media Award nominated one.
Thank you once again for surfing by the blog to read my posts, and as long as y'all keep doing so and occasionally drop some change in the Tip Jar if you REALLY like what I do here, I'll keep cranking them out.
Next stop 6 million hits!

Trans Griot Post 7000!
This is the 7000th post that I have written on this blog since I started it back on January 1, 2006.
I probably would have hit this milestone last month if it hadn't been for my latest bout with computer issues that has me impatiently waiting to get my computer out of the shop and start cranking out my posts like I normally do.
Thank you TransGriot readers for spending your valuable time reading my posts, recommending this blog to your friends, and helping me to become the go to media platform and blog when it comes to the issues of transpeople of color.
You continue to show me love for doing so, and the feeling is mutual.
Now to the next milestone.

5 Million Hits!
(singing) 5...5 million..5 million blog hits!
Thank you TransGriot readers for helping me reach another blogging milestone as of 2:43 AM today.CDT.
And how apropos it happened on July 4, our nation's Independence Day?
Who knew when I started this blog seven years ago that it would be considered a must read one and I'd reach this milestone?
I remember the days I was happy when I'd look at the hit counter and see 500 people read what I posted that day. All I was trying to do at the time was ensure the voice of African-American transpeople were heard on issues of importance to us inside and outside our community and from time to time comment on the world as I saw it.
Mission accomplished. But it's still an ongoing mission. Thank you for reading and telling me how much you appreciate me and what I write here. Thanks to those of you who drop some change from time to time in my electronic tip jar in the upper left hand corner or send links to stories that you think need to be covered.
I deeply appreciate those of you who spend your day reading and telling your friends about TransGriot. It's been a major part of my success. Me being blessed with writing talent and not being 'scurred' to call crap out when necessary doesn't hurt either.
So now that TransGriot has passed this milestone with your help, on to the next one of 5.5 million hits.

1000th Post For 2012!
It's not even Election Day yet and you're looking at the 1000th post I've written this year.
And note, that's just on my blog.
That makes the third straight year since 2010 that I've written that many posts, and that was also an election year in which.I finished with 1260 when the clock hit 11:59 PM CST.
In 2011 it was my all time high of 1563 by the time the clock ushered in the New Year.
I doubt I'll exceed that number of posts by the time we hit New Year's Eve 2012, but I still have eight weeks left in this year. I was actually trying to at times back off from that frenetic writing pace I had last year. I wanted to actually leave some time for me to chill, live my life, hang out with my friends and strictly limiting myself to three blog posts per day was a way in my mind to do that. .
Who was I kidding?
This was a presidential election year, and news events here and around the world sometimes demand that I write more than three per day. My status as an IFGE Trinity winning activist and major blogger sometimes meant that I needed to add my Afrocentric comments on issues of importance to the trans community.
And yes, sometimes I'm in hard solid thinking mode about something and it inspires me to write a post I have to put down for posterity or something happens that pisses me the hell off and I need to vent.
One post you will see on New Year's Eve is my 2012 Shut Up Fool of the Year one, and I'll have it out in time for you to read it before you get your New Year's Eve party and drink on.
And before I end this one, thank all you TransGriot readers who have surfed by here over the years and spent your valuable time reading what I have to say about the world as I see it. I deeply appreciate it.

TransGriot Post 6000!
Wow..didn't realize I'd come to this milestone so fast, but you're looking at the 6000th post I've either written or posted to this blog since it began on January 1, 2006.
That's a lot of words and writing over six years on a wide range of subjects, and thanks to all of you who let me know how much you appreciate it in my travels around the country, and the e-mails and Facebook messages you send.
Without you taking the time out of your day to read TransGriot, it wouldn't have the over 4.2 million hits it has garnered.
Well, on to the next milestone.

4 Million Hits!
Another day, another TransGriot milestone moment.
At 3:09 AM I had the 4 millionth person come surf by and visit my blog.
Once again I sincerely thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to do so. From the feedback I get from you TransGriot readers I've been fortunate to meet you enjoy the posts and me telling it like it T-I-S is about many issues inside and outside the trans community.
As long as I'm blessed to keep this now six year old electronic forum operating, that's going to be the modus operandi of this blog. It will also be unapologetically Black, trans and proud to be both.
You readers unconditional love and respect for what I do keeps me motivated and focused on providing a quality blog that you'll want to come back to and recommend to your friends.

Post 5500!
Another day, another milestone post. TransGriot readers, you're perusing post number 5500 since I started compiling them on these electronic pages on January 1, 2006.
When you think about it, that;s a lot of writing about a wide range of subjects. While trans issues and the issues of trans people of color and the African Diaspora will always be Job One here, as you know I do and will talk about anything that interests me outside the confines of TBLG issues.
And you are already aware of the fact that when i do, I'm not 'scurred' to tell it like it T-I-S is about what's going on. It's why I have over 3.8 million hits and counting.
As for my haters, y'all can keep on hatin' and drinking that Haterade from 55 gallon drums because you are my motivators to keep me doing what I do. Besides, I want to make sure that you have plenty to build up a frothing at the mouth dislike of me
To the people who send me love, appreciation, shout outs on Facebook and Twitter and occasionally drop something in the electronic tip jar, thank you. Your kind words and praise also motivate me to continue the high quality writing, the Black trans history post, and the features of this blog y'all tell me you love.
Thank you, and on to the next milestone post.

3.5 Million Hits!
Another day, another milestone here at TransGriot.
Seems like I just wrote that post back on October 27 that discussed me passing the 3 million hit mark.
Thanks to your continued support of my cyberhome sometime today while I was enroute back to Houston I passed the 3.5 million hit mark.
Once again I deeply appreciate all of you who take valuable time out of your day to read the blog and my take on the currents events and issues of the day, and who read my take on trans issues from an Afrocentric perspective.
It's a now six year old labor of love that I enjoy doing and I'm blessed to have this electronic platform to tell mine and the story of African-American transpeople here and across the African Diaspora.
Now that I've passed 3.5 million hits, on to the next milestone.

1500 Posts This Year!
Even I didn't think I'd hit this milestone in terms of writing 1500 posts in a calendar year on this blog. But I did it with a couple of weeks left to spare in 2011
There's been a lot going on this year and I've had time on my hands to talk about it. And as you long time readers of TransGriot know, I have very definite opinions and thoughts about everything that is happening in the world around me.
There are some peeps who have a problem with me seeing things through my Afriocentric prism.
And your problem with that would be?
If people don't like the fact or are uncomfortable that I'm writing from a Black perspective, there are always other blogs you can visit that fit your point of view. Mine since January 1, 2006 will be of, about and for Black transpeople and will unapologetically look at issues inside and outside this community as to how they affect us.
As I've been told repeatedly, it's a voice for a community that doesn't have one at times, and I'm proud to pick up the megaphone and shout until you hear us now.
On to the next milestone.
