More Saturday Sellout Links

Since I just added the E.W. Jackson post to the TransGriot Saturday Sellout series (and sadly need to do more of them) here are the links to the ones I've previously written in one convenient post for you to peruse at your leisure

Time for you to get your learn on about the cookie chomping knee-grows gleefully working to sell our community out and kiss up to conservatism for their own personal gain.

Seven Transphobic Tropes Debunked

I've discussed in the over 6500 posts on this blog (and had fun eviscerating ) these seven transphobic tropes that seem to constantly pop into articles about this community and radfem hate screeds.

Questioning Transphobia has a excellent series of articles that eviscerate the seven most common anti-trans arguments.  And you know as a TransGriot public service I'm going to make it easy for you to find them.

Thanks to Questioning Transphobia's Queen Emily and Lisa Harney for the hard solid thinking and work that went into this series of articles.

Trope 1 – “Really” a Man / Woman
Trope 2 – “Patriarchal Privilege”
Trope 3 – “Reifying Gender”
Trope 4 – “My Theories Are More Important Than Your Experience”
Trope 5 – The “Man in a Dress” / “Deceiver” Double Bind
Trope 6 – Mutilation
Trope 7 – Socialization As A Child

TDOR 2012 Speech Links And Posts

As I run across them, I'm collecting the links to 2012 TDOR speeches and TDOR related commentary from various people of color across the Net and posting it here.  If you TransGriot readers see any interesting links, have links to video, send it to me.

TransGriot Ten Questions Interview Links

In order to accomplish my mission of documenting our chocolate trans history and history makers, I started a feature called the TransGriot Ten Questions Interview.

What I envision and hope to accomplish is that I want to on a regular basis talk to people inside our community.   I ask them ten questions that they can answer as short or as long as they wish on various subjects of interest to our trans community.   I also want a mix of African descended trans people. I'm wanting in these Ten Questions segments to talk to our up and coming leaders, opinion shapers, artists, thinkers, icons and interesting personalities who are molding and shaping our chocolate trans world.

These are the initial ones I've already done, and there will be more to come.

Putting Some Soul And The Capital 'T' In TBLG History Month

If you haven't heard, October is TBLG History Month in the US.   One of the things I'm going to be diligent about this month is not only ensuring that the trans community isn't erased, but the POC end of it isn't whitewashed out of the narrative.

So to get this party started I'm going to post links to previous Black Trans history posts I've written at TransGriot to make it easy to access them.

I'm also going to come out this month with new TransGriot Ten Questions interviews some of you have told me you want to see more of from our chocolate trans icons in addition to posting the previous ones..

The TransGriot is going to do her part to ensure that the 'T' is not only capitalized during this month, it has soul as well.

Wanna Know Why We Have Problems With Our Gay 'Allies'?

Because at times they are worse than our right wing oppressors.

We have a prime example of that going on with the current push to pass the unjust HB 235 law in Maryland.

InEquality Maryland since they lost on their gay marriage bill, is now hellbent on passing a flawed and worthless trans rights bill onto a community that has told them repeatedly they don't want it without public accommodations language in it.

This blog isn't the only one griping about HB 235 and the shady way that InEquality Maryland is ramming this bill through,.

Guess What (IN) Equality Maryland? HB 235 Is Still Worthless Without PA Language!

Haven't commented in a few days about HB 235, the worthless Maryland trans rights bill that doesn't have public accommodations language in it, but plenty of other people have. .

And in the middle of this white hot debate over the bill, transwoman Tyra Trent was murdered.

Saturday Sellout Links

I started a TransGriot feature back in 2009 called the Saturday Sellout in which I planned to talk about the little known African-Americans who are actively working to impede the progress of other African Americans in gaining civil rights coverage or are apologists for conservatism.

Got sidetracked with other issues during 2010 and that fell by the wayside, but the need is still there to call out the people within our midst that exhibit Uncle Ruckus like behavior.

I'm planning on doing more of those Saturday posts this year, and to give you a taste of what's forthcoming, here are some of the ones I've previously written.

The Covenant House Texas TBLG Housing Issue Links

I've written a few posts about the ongoing situation with the Houston based Covenant House Texas and their less than respectful treatment of TBLG kids.

To catch you up on the backstory about what's transpiring here and what had the Houston rainbow community upset with Covenant House Texas,  thought it was time to compile those links into one handy dandy post for your websurfing convenience and for you to peruse..

There's word that another meeting was held today that may finally resolve this situation to everyone's satisfaction.    We'll see.
