'The Game' Season 5 Cranking Up In January

I was deliriously happy when BET resurrected the NAACP Image Award winning series The Game and decided to broadcast a new season of 13 shows.

The Mara Brock Akil produced show picked up two years later where the Season 3 storylines left off when the CW abruptly canceled it after its merger with UPN

The Game kicked off Season 4 with a bang on January 11, 2011 when it garnered a record breaking 7.7 million viewers in its BET premiere.   Pleased with The Game's successful season, BET subsequently renewed the show for a fifth season with a 22 episode run

Season 5 of The Game will commence on January 10, 2012 and we get to see what has happened since the Season 4 finale.   Derwin and Melanie were at a fertility clinic in which he found out the news that Melanie previously had undergone an abortion.  Jenna has turned down Malik's desire to reconcile with her.   He's also in hot water with the Sabers owner after he found out  about Malik's affair with his wife Parker, and Tasha discovers during a chance encounter with Bo that he's not only not terminally ill, but is married with a family.   And speaking of family, Jason quits his sports talk show job to focus on parenting his increasingly rebellious and out of control daughter Brittany

Here's the sneak peek video that was on the BET website for the show..

So I'll definitely be looking forward to checking it out on Tuesday nights and watching the drama surrounding my fave characters on The Game.   I'm also hoping the show continues on the successful path it has blazed since being revived and broadcast on BET and gets renewed for another season..

ANTM Isis Watch-Work That Pose, Sis!

With all the stuff and breaking news that I've been tracking over the last few days,.getting ready for this Inside the Beltway trip for Out on The Hill, and making sure I was packed and ready to go, forgot to mention that my sis Isis is back on this new season of America's Next Top Model in which they have brought back some of the shows fave contestants.

Well, the competition has begun and this one was right up her alley in terms of a posing competition.

She proved it was her strength and won it.

Going to have to catch up on the episodes I missed, but will definitely be looking forward to doing so.

Charlie's Angels Coming Back This Fall

What's up with this trend in Hollywood of rebooting the 70's powerhouse shows?   While I'm happy to see the networks dumping the tired reality shows and doing scripted ones in which you have to hire writers and actors for them, I would like to see some original works for a change.

But then again, I have standards. ABC's Work It will not be one of the shows I watch this fall.

I won't have any problem with a remake of A Different World as long as we got to see some of the original cast members on a regular basis and Debbie Allen was either producing it or consulting on it.

But back to the post.   CBS rebooted Hawaii Five O.  TNT is bringing back Dallas next summer, and now we have a reboot of ABC's iconic 1977-1981 hit show Charlie's Angels

The original show featured Kate Jackson and two Texans, Houstonians Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett- Majors.  It became so popular that one of the hottest selling pinup posters of the tail end of that decade was one that featured Farrah Fawcett-Majors, and if your name is Jaclyn or Farrah, you have that show to thank for it..

The rebooted Charlie's Angels is slated for a thirteen episode run and will be set in Miami.   The new Angels are Texan Annie Ilonzeh as Kate Prince, Minka Kelly as Eve French and Rachael Taylor as Abby Simpson.

Ilonzeh has the distinction of being the first African-American Angel, be it in the TV series or the movies.

John Bosley will be back and played by Ramon Rodriguez.   As for the voice of Charlie, that was going to be Robert Wagner, but due to scheduling conflicts he had to pull out of the Charlie's Angels 2K production.

The show is going to air on Thursday nights starting at 8 PM ET.  To my Canadian readers, CTV picked up the series as well so you'll get to see it.broadcast the same night except an hour earlier.

I was a huge fan of the original show, and frankly, I'm interested in seeing how the rebooted series gets handled.

Interesting Surprise On 'Necessary Roughness'

I've gotten hooked on the USA cable TV show Necessary Roughness, which stars Callie Thorne as Dr. Danielle Santino, a sexy divorcee therapist with a thriving practice that also works for a fictional pro football team.

At the same time she's helping her patients deal with their various problems, she's sorting out the drama in her own life with two teenaged kids, her gambling addicted mother, a crumbling marriage and New York Hawks star wide receiver Terrance King's ongoing on and off the field issues.

Last night's episode had an interesting twist in it when Dani and her best friend Jeanette attend their high school reunion.   The twice divorced Jeanette is hoping to make a love connection and reunite with her old flame Gerald Daniels and gets primped and Botoxed for the occasion.

Of course Jeanette and Dani are the best looking women in the room and after trading some catty remarks with some of their old classmates, she sets off to find Gerald while Dani is whisked to the dance floor by her soon to be ex-husband Ray Sr.who lets her know he wants her back.

Jeanette does find her old classmate, but is surprised to discover that in the time since they graduated from high school Gerald has become Geraldine.

The cool part was Geraldine was played by actress Candis Cayne.

I liked the scene in which Jeanette and Geraldine were recounting their respective lives since high school and the mutual admiration and affection for each other they had.   Reminded me of my own high school reunion in 2000 and some of the conversations I had with a number of my cis female classmates about that same subject.

But was a nice surprise to see Candis in this episode and would be interesting to see her in a recurring role on this one.

I'm hoping that USA Network picks up this show for another season.
