Trans Actors Can Be In The Building And Still Get Ignored

POSE Cast | Poses, Women, Role models
Like a lot of Trans World peeps I was more than a little heated when the women of POSE were once again snubbed for Emmy consideration despite stepping up their acting games and putting in some Emmy worthy performances.

Tell me you didn't cry watching Candy's funeral?  Or laugh your azz off when Elektra read that Karen for filth in that Hamptons seafood restaurant scene.

Billy Porter was nominated for and won an Emmy last year for his Pray Tell performance and is now only lacking an Oscar to become only the 15th person ever to complete the EGOT.

What's the EGOT you ask?  An EGOT is when an entertainer during their career wins an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award.

So yeah, he's mad talented.    He also said this when being interviewed last year for his historic Emmy win.   The part I'm salty about starts at the 2:51 mark of this video

That video with his 'we in the building' comment is heightening my irritation with that comment a year later.  While Porter received a second consecutive nomination for playing Pray Tell,  the POSE women got snubbed for a second consecutive year.

TRANS SUMMIT
You can still be in the building and still be ignored.  You Mr. Porter and your fellow cis people all need to recognize that despite the 2020 Emmy nominations for Rain Valdez and Laverne Cox (and congrats to both those amazing women) the #EmmysSoCis.

Brian Michael - Home | Facebook
Brian Michael Smith and Scott Turner Schofield are talented trans masculine actors who were not given 2020 Emmy consideration, either.

Yes, trans actors are in the building.  But they still have to fight tooth and nail for the few roles in which trans women play trans feminine characters.  Hell, trans women have had to fight just to play a cis feminine character in Hollywood.

Trans masculine actors have to fight just as hard to play a trans masculine character.   It took a major outcry from our community to get Halle Berry to reconsider a role in which she would be playing a trans masculine person.   Same with getting Scarlett Johansson to change her mind about playing Dante 'Tex' Ritter in the Rub and Tug movie.

Trans women actors have a problem getting trans feminine roles because studio execs and casting directors are still fixated on putting cis male actors in drag to play those roles.

Hilary Swank | Oscars Wiki | Fandom
And to our trans community's horror, those cis men (and a cis woman in Hilary Swank) have gallingly gone on to win the awards trans actors get routinely snubbed for by telling our trans stories..

So no, trans people aren't even close to having equity or seeing the change you claimed had come in that 2019 interview.  Your Emmy interview to our ears sounded like the dismissive 'wait your turn' crap we've been hearing from Black gay men with clout for over 50 years.

The way Black trans women are being genocidally murdered also adds a fierce urgency of now element to not only this situation, but everything we do.

Janet Mock's "Pose" Directorial Debut Just Made History | NewNowNext
POSE is one of the few productions in Hollywood in which we not only get to tell our stories, we have trans people in front of and behind the camera writing and directing them like Janet Mock and Our Lady J.  That makes it a unique and beloved show in our trans community, and we want to see MJ Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross, Hailie Sahar and Indya Moore succeed.

That means if these women's POSE performances merit Emmy recognition, we want to see them nominated for those performances.  If those nominations then turn into trans historic Emmy wins, we're good with that.

That is also the case for the trans folks working behind their camera.  If they are doing award worthy work, they need to be recognized for that.

Pose' Director Janet Mock Signs Overall Deal With Netflix - Variety
Frankly, I love seeing all my Hollywood trans family succeed whether you are in front of the camera or behind it.  The measuring stick for how successful you are in Hollywood is winning or being nominated for major awards like Emmys, Oscars, or Golden Globes.

But to have a shot an winning an Emmy or any of those awards I mentioned, you have to be nominated for it.   This is the flaw in Billy Porter's 2019 'we in the building' speech.

You can be in the building all you want.  But if you're in the building, doing exemplary work, and are still getting ignored for unspecified reasons up to and including Hollywood transphobia and anti-Blackness, that's a problem that needs to be called out and addressed.

Reading Is Fundamental- Elektra Reads A Transphobe

Image result for elektra read pose
As you TransGriot readers know, I am a huge fan of the FX show POSE.   With five major trans characters, it has been showing what we deal with in our trans community lives  through Blanca, Elektra, the now deceased Candy and Angel.

In last week's episode Elektra took her trans daughters on her working vacation to the beach, and ended up giving a master class in reading when  a transphobic Becky made the mistake of stepping to her and her children.

Enjoy

Must See Trans TV- Nicole Maines on Supergirl

Image result for nicole maines supergirl
I had the pleasure of meeting Nicole Maines and her amazing family during my 2012 trip to the Philly Trans Health Conference.   I was thrilled to see her on that guest episode of Royal Pains,

I now get to see her on Supergirl in a groundbreaking role as Nia Nal, television first trans superhero.

Nia Nal is a new reporter at CatCo World Media, and Kara Danvers (AKA Supergirl) takes her under her wing as a mentor because the younger Nia reminds her of herself when she first arrived at CatCo, and they also have being aliens in common.

Turns out Kara will be mentoring her on more than just reporting.   Nia is a descendant of Nura Nal, the 30th Century superhero Dream Girl.   She will become Dreamer, a superhero that can foresee the future.

Reporter Nia Nal (Nicole Maines), left, a new 'Supergirl' character, works for Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) at CatCo World Media. Each is an alien with super power.
It is so cool that a real life community shero gets to play a superhero on television and become that for an entire generation of trans kids.

This fourth season of Supergirl will return back to National City as an anti-alien and anti-superhero campaign led by the charismatic leader Agent Liberty is ramping up.  With all the anti-immigrant sentiment being whipped up by Agent Orange and his minions, this season will spark some timely and vitally needed discussions about immigration and acceptance of people

Looking forward to watching on the CW the first Season 4 episode of Supergirl this Sunday and watching as the Nia Nal character progresses.

Also looking forward to seeing what Nia's superhero costume looks like.

'Dear White People' Returns May 4

One of the things I get to celebrate on my upcoming Cuatro de Mayo birthday besides getting another year older is the return of the Netflix television show Dear White People for its second season.

Dear White People Season 2 Teaser
The show stars Logan Browning from VH1's Hit The Floor as Samantha White, and she's back behind the Winchester University radio mic to critique along with her Black classmates at this PWI all the things the see on and off campus from their eyes.

In season two's ten episodes they will tackle the alt-right white supremacists, do battle with online trolls and dealing with integration of their previously all Black dorm

Will we see more 'Defamation', the show's parody of Scandal?   Good question.

It's one that will be answered on May 4

Joy vs 'Killer Mike'

While I was in my Vegas hotel room, was surprised to see this AM Joy interview with Michael 'Killer Mike' Render.

I definitely had a problem with him appearing on NRA-TV and making the loud and wrong comment that 'Wakanda Had Guns' along with him being there with an anti-Black org in the first place.

Dude, go watch Black Panther again

Anyway, here's the interview for those of you who missed ir.

Season 2 Of 'One Day At A Time' Available January 26

Image result for one day at a time season 2
Many of you TransGriot readers know how much I loved along with television critics across the country the Latinx flavored reboot of the Norman Lear classic 1970's show One Day at a Time.

In the rebooted show, it focuses on three generations of a Cuban-American family in LA headed by Afghan war vet and combat nurse  Penelope Alvarez  (Justina Machado) .  She is newly divorced from her husband Victor and is juggling her job at a doctor's office with raising her two teenage kids Alex and Elena with the help of her mother Lydia (Rita Moreno).

Image result for one day at a time season 2
The fact that Justina Machado and Rita Moreno were part of this reboot was a bonus and was what got me to watch it in the first place.  After the first episode, I was hooked and kept binge watching it for several hours, then went back two days later to watch it again and catch anything I'd missed.

Related image
Season One dealt with issues including Elena's coming out, Penelope struggling with anxiety issues, dealing with the VA, faith, families being split by deportations, and the Season One closing quinceanera for Elena.

There was even a cameo appearance by Mackenzie Phillips as Pam, the facilitating counselor for Penelope's women's veterans group.

Season Two promises more of the same.  It will deal with Penelope now adding going back to school on her crowded plate, xenophobia, and adjusting to Elena being out.   There also promises to be more humorous moments in the multigenerational Alvarez household

But I and every other fan of the show will have to wait until January 26 to see it.

I Am Jazz Season 4 Debuts Tonight

As many of yo longtime TransGriot readers know I've had the pleasure of getting to meet Jazz Jennings and her amazing family.

While I don't like many reality TV shows, this is one that I make an exception for and have watching for the last three seasons.

Tonight on TLC marks the debut of Season 4 of I Am Jazz, and our fave trans teen is now a junior in high school.  We get to see her deal with the challenges of weight gain and having to shed 30 pounds before she can have the gender confirmation surgery she wants, dating, transphobic haters  and Hurricane Irma

I know I'll be watching the season premiere.  Hope you will as well .

This #MustSeeTransTV show is on at 10 PM eastern.9 PM Central

Ready For 'Riverdale' Season 2

Image result for riverdale season 2
On one of my self care nights I decided to turn off MSNBC and find something to watch on Netflix.

Image result for Josie McCoy and Mayor riverdale
I'm a huge Archie comics fan as many of you longtime TransGriot readers are aware of, and since Season 1 of Riverdale the show had just been uploaded, decided to check it out.

Kind of grabs your attention when you see Archie making out with a way younger Miss Geraldine Grundy and it starts off with a murder mystery.

Needless to say I wasn't disappointed.  It was better than I imagined it would be, and I stayed up until 4 AM to binge watch the entire thirteen episode first season..

Related image
What got my attention was seeing some of the character changes that have been made from the traditional Archie Comics canon.  Veronica and her wealthy Lodge family are now Latinx, with Veronica being played by Camila Mendes and her mom Hermione by Marisol Nichols.

Image result for The Coopers riverdale
The Coopers are in the Riverdale house, with mom Alice played by Madchen Amick, Betty by Lill Rinehart, big sis Polly and her dad

Image result for Josie McCoy and Mayor riverdale
The Josie and the Pussycats band are all African American, with Veronica joining them later/  Their lead singer Josie McCoy is being played by Ashleigh Murray.  Her mother Serina McCoy is Riverdale's first African American mayor, played by Robin Givens.

Image result for Archie and Fred riverdale
Archie's dad Fred is now played by Luke Perry, and his mother by Molly Ringwald.  Cole Sprouse is all grown up and playing the burger loving reclusive Forsythe P. Jones III, AKA Jughead.

This Riverdale is sexy, dark, well written and the Who Killed Jason Blossom murder mystery and its twists and turns kept me planted on the couch until I'd watched and rewatched it to catch what I'd missed.

I'll probably be tuned into Netflix one more time to watch Season 1 again before the new episodes kick off.

Related image
Season 2 of Riverdale starts October 11 on the CW and it picks up where it left off with Fred Andrews fighting or his life after being shot during a robbery at Pop's.  Mark Consuelos joins the cast  in Season 2 as Veronica's father Hiram Lodge, who spent the entire first season in jail but was still big balling, shot calling and making things happen while in prison.

We'll find out just what Hiram jumped off from prison and how much he adjusts to free world life in season 2.   There are also rumors that Sabrina Spellman will make some appearances in Season 2, but we'll see.

We'll also find out what's going on with our fave ginger mean girl Cheryl Blossom and how much the events of season one affected her.

Image result for Cheryl Blossom riverdale

What events you ask?  Oh, her dad murdering her twin brother, losing the captaincy of the River Vixens to Veronica, torching Thorn Hill and nearly drowning in a suicide attempt.

If I were Polly, I would want Aunt Cheryl anywhere near my soon to be born child.

Image result for Jughead and betty riverdaleWill Jughead and Betty's relationship survive the upcoming drama between to north and south sides of Riverdale?   What' will transpire in Archie and Veronica's in season two?   .

And even better, when Season 2 kicks off, we'll get 22 episodes to watch instead of just the mere 13 we got to see during Season 1

After the episodes are broadcast on the CW on Wednesday nights, you'll be able to watch what you missed on Netflix that Friday

And I'm definitely looking forward to it.

'Star' Season 2 Starts Tonight

Image result for Star Cotton
More Must See Trans TV action kicks off tonight with the season 2 debut of Star, the spinoff Empire show chronicling the rise of a girl group that has a major trans feminine character played by surprise surprise, an out Black trans woman in the lovely Amiyah Scott.

When we last saw Cotton, she was on a hospital gurney either about to get or recovering from her SRS, and handcuffs were being slapped on her.

Image result for star tv show
There was also other drama in the Season 1 finale in which Hunter and Eva shady behinds were both killed by a hitman mistaking him for Jahil while he was in the middle of coitus with Eva.

There's Alexandra's pregnancy and the BLM activist father of the child being possibly paralyzed after a car accident,  and Big Trouble winning the NextFest music contest.

While I'm not liking that part of Cotton being arrested, the fact remains that Amiyah is playing a major trans character on a hit television show that is now in its second season.

Image result for star tv show
Besides my inquiring mind wanting to see how the group develops with Carlotta as their new manager and with a new name, I also want to see what happens in the relationship between Cotton and Carlotta, and now Jahil Rivera, the group's former manager who was revealed during Season 1 to be Cotton's biological father.

The Seson 2 fun on Star starts tonight at 8 PM CDT

Julia's 'Designing Women' Candidate Rant

Image result for Julia Sugarbaker the Candidate episode

I loved the show Designing Women when it was on from 1986-1993, and Dixie Carter's Julia Sugarbaker character on the show never failed to put a smile on my face when she would get to a point where she would read someone for their ignorance, stupidity or hypocritical arrogance.

This  second season 'The Candidate' episode is one of my faves from Designing Women, and it was one in which Julia was recruited to run against a right wing councilmember . She had suppressed much of her outspoken personality to run this race, and finally had enough of it during a debate with Wilson Brickett and goes off.

This video from Designing Women 'The Candidate' perfectly encapsulates my feelings about the Trump regime and its supporters.

Enjoy

Loving The Netflix 'One Day At A Time' Reboot

Image result for one day at a time netflix
I watched the Norman Lear produced CBS show One Day At A Time back during my teen years which aired from 1975-1984.   When I heard the show was coming back on Netflix with an interesting rebooted twist and Lear down with it, I was intrigued

I was even more ecstatic about it when I heard that Rita Moreno was one of the cast members and the revamped theme song 'This Is It' was being sung by Gloria Estefan to reflect the fact the family in this version is Cuban-American.

The Netflix version of this classic Norman Lear show debuted January 6 and features Justina Machado playing Penelope Alvarez, a nurse, Afghan War vet and single mom separated from her husband who left the Army, but is doing private security there.   Penelope is raising two teenage kids with the help and sometimes hindrance of her mother Lydia, played by Moreno..

It is set in Los Angeles now instead of Indianapolis like the original show, and the separated Penelope is raising a tween son and a feminist teenage daughter in another change from the original show instead of two teen girls .

Image result for One Day at a Time Penelope Alvarez
And yes, Dwayne Schneider, the building superintendent is in this version as well, played in hipster style by Todd Grinnell   Mackenzie Phillips from the original show makes a cameo appearance in one episode.

In addition to showcasing the dynamic of three generations living under one roof, the rebooted One Day At A Time also tackles issues in this first season such as immigration and deportation, religion, PTSD, the issues unique to female vets like Penelope, dealing with the VA bureaucracy, dating,.sex and a coming out story all with an unmistakable Latinx flavor.

The writing in this show is also up to the performances of this wonderful cast.

So if you're looking for something on Netflix to binge watch, check out the 13 episode first season of One Day At A Time.  You'll be happy you did.. .   .

Anthony Anderson's On Point 'Black-ish' January 11 Episode Monologue

And soon, Dre — who'd remained uncharacteristically silent on the matter up until that point — lays bare the betrayal he feels, not only from the election results, but from the conversations in its wake.
Last night i was busy flipping channels between Star and the Black-ish episode entitled 'Lemons' that focused on the tensions that have been exacerbated in this country since Trump (yuck) won this contentious 2016 presidential election with three million fewer votes.

Anthony Anderson's character Andre Johnson during his monologue encapsulated many of the feelings I and many African Americans have concerning this recent election and the subsequent loud and contentious debates that in some cases have ended friendships.

Here's the full monologue.

“You don’t think I care about this country? I love this country, even though at times it doesn’t love me back. For my whole life, my parents, my grandparents, me — for most black people, this system has never worked for us. But we still play ball, try to do our best to live by the rules even though we knew they would never work out in our favors. Had to live in neighborhoods that you wouldn’t drive through; send our kids to school with books so beat up you couldn’t read them; worked jobs that you wouldn’t even consider in your nightmares.
Black people wake up every day believing that our lives are going to change, even though everything around us says it’s not. Truth be told, you ask most black people and they’d tell you that no matter who won this election, they didn’t expect the hood to get better. But they still voted, because that’s what you’re supposed to do.
You don’t think I’m sad that Hillary didn’t win? That I’m not terrified about what Trump’s about to do? I’m used to things not going my way. I’m sorry that you’re not and it’s blowing your mind, but excuse me if I get a little offended that I didn’t see all of this outrage when everything was happening to all of my people since we were stuffed on boats in chains. I love this country as much if not more than you do, and don’t you ever forget that.”

Truth.  I emphatically get what that Anderson monologue to the tune of Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit was saying about many African Americans feeling like this country doesn't love us back.
I expressed the same sentiments in a TransGriot post I wrote in the immediate aftermath of Trump being declared the winner.
Right now I'm once again processing the fact that my country hates me.   That's not something I wanted to or needed to ponder before going to sleep tonight.
-TransGriot,  November 9, 2016

I hear 'I hate you' with every white person gleefully cheering for Trump. stating they proudly voted for him or expressing pride that he won.  I hear that with every white supremacist I see giving Nazi salutes while hollering 'Hail Trump' and every smirking Bernie or Buster who loudly and wrongly claims Bernie would have won.

That's why he is #notmypresident, and I will never respect him.  I will gleefully be dancing in the streets when he leaves office on January 20, 2021

'Hit The Floor' Season Three Starts Tonight

It's been awhile since Sloane was put in the position of being forced to fire Ahsha from the Devil Girls at the end of season 2 back in August.

And now after a marathon binge watching weekend of Hit The Floor season on shows on Saturday and Season 2 yesterday. season 3 of Hit the Floor finally starts at 8 PM CST.

Y'all know how much I love scripted shows, and I started watching Hit the Floor because Kimberly Elise was playing Ahsha's mom Sloane Hayes and Dean Cain is also in it playing Devils coach Pete Davenport.

But I fell in love with Taylour Paige, who plays Ahsha, Logan Browning, who plays the scheming Devil Girls captain Jelena Howard, Valery Ortiz, who plays Raquel Saldana and Katherine Bailess, who plays Kyle Hart.

I love not only the Devil Girls dance numbers, but all the backstabbing, duplicitous deals and cliffhangers. I also want to see how things turn out for my fave characters.

Anxious to see if karmic justice finally comes Jelena's way.  I'm also interested to see what happens to Ahsha and all the other characters populating Devil's Arena on and off the court.

'Girl Meets World' Gets A Third Season

Embedded image permalink

Y'all know how much I love the show Girl Meets World, which is a Boy Meets World sequel on Disney Channel focused on Corey and Topanga's teen daughter Riley and her tight knit group of friends as the negotiate the challenges of growing up and navigating middle school.

Embedded image permalinkThe show is produced by the same team that produced Boy Meets World, and over its two seasons it has exceeded expectations in being just as good as the original show in addition to being a ratings winner for the Disney Channel. .

The other fun part has been seeing how they have weaved in some of the old BMW characters into this new show.  Riley has had visits over the first two season from her Uncle Josh, Uncle Eric, Uncle Shawn, her paternal grandparents Amy and Alan and soon Aunt Morgan.

George Feeny and Jonathan Turner have also popped up along with Angela, Jack, TJ Murphy and coning soon in the third season Rachel.   Hopefully we'll also see visits from Topanga's family as the show progresses.

We have also seen Stuart Minkus and Jennifer Bassett Minkus, who are the parents of Farkle Minkus, part of Riley close knit group of friends.  Shawn Hunter is beginning to date Katy Hart, the mother of Riley's best friend forever Maya Hart.

Embedded image permalinkAnd yes, there is Lucas Friar, the handsome Texan whose friendship with Riley is or may turn into something more.

I received an early Christmas present when it was announced last month that Girl Meets World was being renewed for a third season, and production of those third season episodes will start in January.

Girl Meets World Season Two Starts May 11

Girl Meets World in its first season on Disney Channel managed to masterfully meld the new cast of this Disney series with the beloved characters of Boy Meets World.

It was so successful that the BMW sequel was renewed for a second season.

Girl Meets WorldCory and Topanga are the parents of Auggie and teenager Riley, the focus of this show.

Shawn Hunter has popped up in several episodes. Harley Kiner, who terrorized Corey in his childhood, is the janitor at John Quincy Adams, the school Corey works at.

Stuart Minkus has popped up as the father of Farkle, one of Riley's friends and Corey's students.   Josh Matthews has popped up and will be going to NYU.   Even Cory's parents Amy and Alan appeared in the Christmas episode.

We won't have to wait long for the start of Season 2 of Girl Meets World and to find out what BMW alums pop up in this season.   Mr. Feeny will pop up in a few episodes, and big brother Eric will be seen in several season two episodes along with Mr. Turner.

And yes, Angela is coming back for a few episodes.

The initial episode of the season starts May 11 on Disney Channel and will continue with four more episodes that week, and so looking forward to seeing it..

Loving 'Empire'!

empire_article_story_largeOne of my must watch TV destinations on Wednesday night has become Empire.

The show which chronicles the exploits of hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon and his family is a drama filled entertaining hour of must see TV.

I especially love Taraji P. Henson as Lucious' ex-wife Cookie, who is one tough woman not to be messed with.

Some of my homegirls who are fans of Empire simply call it 'The Cookie Show' for her scene stealing larger than life on camera appearances.

Lucious, played by Terrence Howard is the founder of Empire Entertainment who has been diagnosed with ALS about the same time that past sins start to haunt his life and a power struggle is starting between his three sons for control of the company.

Empire debuted on FOX January 7 with 9.9 million viewers watching its inaugural episode, and has made television history by becoming the first show in 23 years to increase its weekly viewership through the first five weeks of its initial season.

Probably safe to say this show will be renewed  for a second season with strong numbers like this, and it also proves the point that a dram series with a multicultural cast and strong story lines will draw viewers.

'Girl Meets World' Debuts Friday

Girl Meets World PosterOne of my back in the 90's guilty pleasure TV shows to watch was Boy Meets World, and I was one of the many fans of the show who were ecstatic to hear that a sequel to it had been greenlighted for 21 episodes to debut in 2014.

Girl Meets World will bring back Cory and Topanga as parents of 12 year old tween Riley with her own mischievous friend in Maya Hart.

While the show will center on Riley navigating her way through life, we already know that many of the characters from Boy Meets World will be reprising their roles and appearing on the show.

The show will also be set in New York instead of Philadelphia but what we didn't know was when the show would debut.

Well, the wait is over BMW fans.   The first season of Girl Meets World will debut on the Disney Channel this Friday, June 27 at 9:45 PM EDT.

As to what BMW characters will show up in the new series, so far Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Lee Norris (Minkus), Danny McNulty (Harley), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), and William Russ and Betsy Randle (Cory's parents) are for now.   Other BMW alums will pop up during this first season.  .

Cory is now a school teacher, and Minkus' son is in Cory's class along with his daughter Riley and Maya.  Topanga is now an entrepreneur running a popular hangout for the kids in Riley's school.

So yep, looking forward to watching Girl Meets World this Friday.

'Hit The Floor' Season 2 Premiere

Photo: LIKE if you're watching the SEASON PREMIERE of #HitTheFloor RIGHT NOW on VH1!Took a writing break Monday night to watch the Season 2 premiere of VH1's addictive scripted series Hit The Floor.

I was drawn to it initially last season because Kimberly Elise, Dean Cain and Rick Fox were in it and it focused on a dance team for the fictional Los Angeles Devils pro basketball team called the Devil Girls.

But I quickly fell in love with the charmingly sweet Ahsha Hayes played by Taylour Paige, Raquel Saldana, the drama plague single mom who moves from the Devil Girls to managing the Devil's Playground lounge played by Valery Ortiz and Jelena Howard, the shadily evil captain of the Devil Girls played by Logan Browning.

And y'all know I love well written, scripted series.  Hit The Floor delivers the goods.

HIT-THE-FLOOR.jpgIn the Season 2 premiere Hit The Floor picked up where it left off in the Season One finale with Sloane Hayes taking over as the new director of the Devil Girls, but the rift remains with her and Ahsha for now.  German gets hired as a Devils assistant coach after Pete clears it with Ahsha, and Ahsha ramps up her relationship with Derek.  Jelena is already working to try to get Sloane fired as Devil Girls director, and make Terrence jealous by accepting a date with new Devil Zero.

And Jelena is still hatin' and scheming on Ahsha.

I'll let y'all watch the rest of the Season 2 debut on VH1 to find out what else happened.  You can also tune into VH1 on Monday nights for the new episodes.  You won't be disappointed.

The TransGriot 'Living Single' 20th Anniversary Quiz

On August 22, 1993 Living Single broadcast the first of 118 episodes on FOX.   We were introduced to a Brooklyn brownstone and twentysomethings Khadijah and Synclaire James, Regine Hunter, Maxine Shaw, Kyle Barker and Overton Jones as they lived, worked, loved and got married over the next five television seasons.
