Marisa Richmond Confirmed To Metro Nashville Human Relations Commission!

In some more good news for trans kind, Dr. Marisa Richmond and 8 other candidates for the Metro Nashville Human Relations Commission were unanimously confirmed by Metro Council tonight for a three year term.

By doing so, Marisa becomes the first out trans person nominated and confirmed to a term on this or any commission in Nashville metro government.   The Human Relations Commission is tasked with investigating discrimination complaints within the city of Nashville and Davidson County.

Congrats for making history in your hometown Marisa, and kudos to Mayor Berry for recognizing that you would be a wonderful addition to that body.  

Marisa Richmond Nominated For Nashville Human Relations Commission

Was elated to hear that Dr. Marisa Richmond was nominated by Nashville Mayor Megan Barry yesterday to serve on the Metro (Nashville) Human Relations Commission   This commission is tasked with investigating discrimination complains in Nashville and Davidson County.

If she is confirmed, she would become the first openly trans person to serve on any Metro commission or board in an official capacity.

The confirmation votes for Dr. Richmond will take place in the Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee and the full Metro Council on May 17.   If you like in the Nashville metro area, both meetings will be open to the public.
