What Women REALLY Fear In The Bathroom

Besides right wing Republican pervs like Dennis Hastert, Josh Duggar and countless others around the country, this is what women fear more in the bathrooms than their trans sisters.

Yep, running out of toilet paper.

You ignorati really need to get over your facts free hatred of trans folks.  I and the trans community are getting sick and tired of being sick and tired of being your political punching bags and our lives are not up for a societal debate

So flush that transphobia you`re peddling as soon as possible.

Indiana GOP Senator Files Unjust Anti-Trans SB 35

While y'all were checking out what gifts were left for you under your Christmas trees and in your stockings, Indiana trans folks were given a lump of legislative coal from the GOP.

Indiana Republicans, mad because they were forced to back down from implementing the discriminatory RFRA they passed  because of the national backlash that cost them business, failed to learn their lesson from that debacle and have now set their sights on attacking the Indiana trans community.

Senator Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) has decided to unleash his inner trans oppressor and file a bill that would criminalize being a trans person in the state of Indiana.

SB 35 if passed and signed into law by Governor Mike Pence (R) would take effect on June 1, 2016 and make using the bathrooms, locker rooms that don't correspond to your genitalia a Class A misdemeanor, send you to jail for up to a year and fine you up to $5,000.

Exceptions would be made for parents of children under age 8, first responders, janitors and people rendering first aid and insist that public and charter schools adhere to its unjust provisions even though schoolchildren would not face criminal charges..

http://genegeek.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/chromosome2.jpg

This bill is a mess because it confuses sex and gender identity and throw chromosomes in the mix by using the  XX= female, XY = male as part of the bill's definition of 'biological gender'.

Umm Senator Trans Oppressor, Google a condition called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome in which people with XY chromosomes not only develop female bodies but female genitalia.  There are also other combinations of chromosomes for humans besides XX and XY.

And if you're intersex, which locker room, shower facility or public potty do you use in Indiana?

And explain to me Sen. Tomes, who is going to pay for the expensive lab tests to determine someone's chromosomal makeup?

You damned sure can't determine someone's chromosomes just by looking at them.

Tomes disingenuously tried to claim he's not singling out trans people for attack, but that's exactly what the unjust SB 35 bill does.

This unjust anti-trans bill is now in the Senate Committee on Public Policy, and if passed will put Indiana on a collision course with the US Department of Justice.   The DOJ recently said in July that trans students not being allowed to use the facilities that corresponds with their gender identity is a for of sex discrimination.

Indiana sadly is trying to establish itself as the Crossroads of Transphobic Bigotry, and criminalize trans lives.  The unjust SB 35 bill needs to die.

I Repeat: Transpeeps Wish To Pee In Peace

Once again, just a friendly TransGriot reminder of why we trans folks have to go to a bathroom that matches our outward gender presentation.

To answer nature's call.

.Trans people, just like you cis people have to eliminate bodily wastes either by peeing, pooping or a combination of both.  Once we are done we flush the toilet, wipe the seat, wash our hands, check our appearance on the trans feminine end and go.

We are not the predators as the Duggar family and other hypocritical conservafools projecting their sexual fantasies and proclivities accuse us of being, we are the prey.

It's why we transpeeps want to go in the bathroom, handle our business, and get out with no fuss, no muss and no drama and have been doing so ever since Christine Jorgensen stepped off the plane in 1953.  We are in there to handle a natural bodily function, not to get a date or prey upon your wives and kids.

That would be your ministers, some male relative or family friend of yours.   They also as Josh Duggar and others have proved overwhelmingly tend to be right wing Christian white males, and you have to be far more concerned with them being around your wives, female relatives and kids than the average trans woman.

I'm just sayin'.   Now where's my unsweetened tea?.

The point I'm making is that the trans predator myth is a debunked lie, and anyone trying to pimp it deserves you either laughing in their face, calling their lying azzes out or you giving them the side eye.

If you see any trans women in your bathrooms, they are more likely to be hogging the mirrors and complimenting your wives and children, even if you wish to irrationally hate on them because FOX Noise and some right wing minister pushing an agenda told you so.

I repeat.  Let my people pee in peace.

We Had An Attempted Bathroom Assault At UHD....

And thanks to timely assistance by a UHD professor, it ended before it became far worse.   And ammosexuals, it didn't require the use of a gun to stop it.

Professor Frank Vela  heard a female student screaming after a man with a knife followed her into the restroom.  The perpetrator was tackled by Professor Vela and held down until UHD police arrived to arrest the perp and cart his azz off to jail.

And naw, Dave Wilson, Dave Welch, Debbie Riddle, Max Miller, FOX Noise 26 and 'errbody' else pimping that discredited anti-trans bathroom predator lie, the perp wasn't trans* or a man in a dress.

The perp in question  shared your ethnic background.  His name is 35 year old Daniel Griffing, and appeared before a judge yesterday.   It wasn't his first time in the criminal justice rodeo or committing the crime of sexual assault. Griffing was convicted in 2000 of sexually assaulting a small boy and was sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

He's being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.

This is also a textbook case of what we in Trans World and our allies have been trying to point out every time the Right Wing Noise Machine deploys the demonstrably false bathroom predator lie they use every time to attack any human rights law that attempts to cover the transgender community.

And yeah, we trans women are just as concerned about people like this running loose in H-town and elsewhere in the state and country.because far too often, trans women are the prey, just like our cis sisters are.

If a man wants to get into a women's bathroom to commit the crime of sexual assault, just like Griffing. he isn't going to waste time getting in drag to do it.

Falsely demonizing and attempting to criminalize the lives of trans people isn't the way to stop sexual assaults.  So it's past time media peeps and the rest of you folks who need to 'ejumacate' yourselves about trans lives need to buy a vowel and get a clue that people like Griffing are your perps you need to be concerned about.

Not the trans woman who is simply trying to live her life to the best of her ability, and just needs to pee in the bathroom without being harassed about it.

Colorado Civil Rights Division Lets Coy Pee In Peace

Coy Mathis - Cover
The Colorado Civil Rights Division has ruled in favor of 6 year old trans kid Coy Mathis, who was barred from using the girls' restroom at her elementary school despite a statewide law banning discrimination on the basis of gender identity in public accommodations.

The Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 told Coy's parents in December that the first grader would not be able to continue to use the girls' restroom after the holiday break
.
The family then filed a civil rights complaint in February.   The Civil Rights Division eventually ruled that the district's solution of letting Mathis use staff bathrooms was a violation of the young girl’s rights and was similar to discriminatory “separate but equal” laws.

"Schools should not discriminate against their students, and we are thrilled that Coy can return to school and put this behind her," Kathryn Mathis, Coy's mother, said in a statement published in the Denver Post. "All we ever wanted was for Coy's school to treat her the same as other little girls. We are extremely happy that she now will be treated equally.

And all any transperson wants, no matter what their age is to be treated as a first class citizen and be able to pee in peace.

Let My People Pee In Scotland

File:Welcome to Scotland sign A1 road.jpgHere we go again with cis people tripping about a trans woman peeing in the ladies room.  The latest report of this BS comes from Scotland.

Hannah Leith has been transitioning full time for less than a year and after doing some window shopping around noon local time handled her business in the ladies room at the Paisley Centre.

She has done this countless times since starting her transition, but on this occasion  Leith was stopped by an overzealous security guard who obviously isn't aware of the 2010 Equality Act.  She was advised by the guard someone filed a complaint about her using the bathroom and told she was only to use the men's or disabled toilets.

When she pointed out the Equality Act says otherwise, the guard responded with if she attempted to use the female bathrooms she would be banned from the center.

Leith went on to say to PinkNews.com.uk:“It was not made clear whether a staff member or a member of the public had made this complaint… I have lived full-time as a woman since last August and this disgusts me.”

FYI, the 2010 Equality Act (as the radfems are painfully finding out) bars discrimination based on gender reassignment, sex and sexual orientation.

Leith went to a nearby library and printed out the pertinent sections of the Equality Act in an attempt to civilly discuss the matter with mall management but no one was available.   She was stopped by a different Paisley Centre security guard when she attempted to use the bathroom again.

UK Stonewall and the Scottish Transgender Alliance were appalled by the news and pointed out in the Pink News article that “refusal to allow use of sanitary facilities appropriate to the gender in which the person is living”, is in breach of the Equality Act.

It's also a breach of common sense, decency and humanity.   Let my people pee, Scotland!.

Let My People Pee!

One of the things that comes up with depressing regularity in the now six years that I have been chronicling events that affect the trans community is the bathroom issue.

I am along with other trans people around the USA and the world beyond sick and tired of being sick and tired of having to confront cis people's ignorance and rank bigoted stupidity when it comes to us trans peeps being able to simply go to the bathroom and handle our nature calls.

It's past time for us to be able to do so without us having to sue your azzes to do so, call you out in the media,  be harassed, risk arrest or a beatdown.

Trans community, I've said this before and it bears repeating, it's time to go to war over the 'bathroom predator' meme.   It is fueling much of the discrimination aimed at us, led to one Tennessee state rep trying to legislate the 'bathroom meme' into existence before the negative attention he received for it led to its withdrawal, and triggered a recent hate attack in New York.

It's time to eviscerate it to the point that anyone who parts their lips to say it has as much credibility as a birther and gets laughed at in the process..

And I'll say it again: let my people pee!.

Colorado Transteens Battling Bathroom Drama

Colorado is one of the states that has had a trans protective rights law on the books since 2008 but it seems like some of the haters and the clueless haven't gotten the message yet.

First it was Bobbi Montoya and her request to join a Girl Scout troop being denied and now this latest drama over the porcelain throne room.

16 year old transteen Dionne Malikowski and her friend 16 year old transman Kurt Peters are catching flack from Fort Collins High School officials over the bathroom..

She and Kurt were asked to use the staff restrooms, but as Dionne pointed out, staff bathrooms are not spread out over the entire school campus and when you gotta go, you gotta go.  Dionne used a non staff bathroom and was suspended for three days from school because of it.    Kurt was in the same situation but was only given a warning.

What do they want them to do, pee in the hallways if they aren't near a staff bathroom? .

"I cried," Malikowski said in a KUSA-TV9 interview . "I told them that it was really messed up for them to do that to me, and they were like, 'We've warned you before,' and I was just like, 'Obviously you don't understand what it's like.'"

They sure don't, Dionne.

The Poudre School District says there is not an across-the-board policy for bathroom use by transgender students.

Well, here's a suggestion for you.  If the transteen in question is presenting as female, they go to the female restroom.  If they present as male, they go to the male restroom.

It's so simple even the GEICO caveman can comprehend it.

Fort Collins High School and Poudre School District, let my transpeople pee and stop the transphobic hassling of these transteens over the fracking bathroom.   You can't live up to your district's motto of Educate Every Child Every Day if you're sending transkids home on suspension because they used the bathroom appropriate to their gender presentation.

Denny's Finally Lets Our Maine Trans People Pee

I wrote about the October 25, 2007 situation that occurred in an Auburn, ME Denny's restaurant in which transwoman Brianna Freeman was denied access to it by the restaurant management .   She filed a complaint in 2009 with the Maine Human Rights Commission which ruled in her favor on a 3-2 vote.

Ken Fredette, one of the Republican MHRC commisioners on the losing end of that vote successfully ran for the Maine Legislature in 2010 and authored the failed LD 1046 bill that would overturn two trans positive MHRC decisions and bar us from having the ability to sue over bathroom discrimination.

Brianna Freeman finally got justice when Realty Resources Hospitality, the corporate owner of Denny's restaurants in the state negotiated an out of court settlement with Freeman in March and announced Monday.

It will allow bathroom access to their restaurant restrooms based on current gender presentation.  The GLAD negotiated agreement applies to all Denny's restaurants in the state of Maine and includes an undisclosed monetary settlement for Freeman.

Freeman stated the bottom line of this case is. “for me and other transgender patrons is that Denny’s has welcomed us to use the restroom that is consistent with how we live our lives.”

That means letting us transpeople pee without drama in the restroom that matches our gender presentation.  Too bad some folks are gonna have to pay some money to get that lesson through their thick heads instead of just doing the right thing.

Time To Go To War Over The 'Bathroom Predator' Meme 1

One of the things I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired about is the 'bathroom predator' meme.

It needs to be aggressively pimp slapped into oblivion by not only the trans community, but our allies as well.

Since my motto is if you want something done right, you have to sometimes do it yourself,  I'm going to start that campaign with me responding to a recent comment from New York Black Beauty on my 'Tired Of The Bathroom Bill BS post..

***
safety is the biggest concern for me and, i imagine, most non-trans women. i personally wouldn't object to trans-women using the women's bathroom, but from what i've heard & read about the various equality issues regarding public bathrooms, it seems like the onus of bathroom equality always falls on us:

1. we have to accept trans-men who present as men in women's bathrooms for their safety;
2. because it's difficult to tell who is what, we have to accept people who are noticeably biologically male & present as women whether they are trans or not; and
3. we have to accept lesbians who present as men without question

maybe all of the above are ok, and i just don't understand the issues very well.

question: do you think the law will lead to coed locker rooms & multi-stall bathrooms as some predict? would they be the best solution to all of the bathroom equality issues?

I'm going to respond to this in sections...

safety is the biggest concern for me and, i imagine, most non-trans women. i personally wouldn't object to trans-women using the women's bathroom, but from what i've heard & read about the various equality issues regarding public bathrooms, it seems like the onus of bathroom equality always falls on us:

Safety is the biggest concern driving this issue for us transwomen as well.   Whether you know this or not or even care, we inherited the same societal drama that all female bodied people have to deal with.

We're also tired of the disinformation driving the fear that many ciswomen have about transpeople and the porcelain throne room..

I'd also submit your statement about the onus of bathroom equality falling on ciswomen is incorrect.  One of the things that is stressed in any reputable gender program and even cross dressing seminars is bathroom etiquette.  Crossdressers have it relentlessly drilled into them at gender conferences and group meetings when they are dressed en femme to sit down to pee, not stand up.  We transwomen have been taught to get in and get out as quickly as possible with the goal of causing as little disruption as possible.

Transwomen have been using women's bathrooms without incident since 1953.   Gay and closeted men however, have been making the news for years about their various bathoom peccadilloes.    It's also not surprising that an openly gay congressmember created that 'penis in showers' myth to begin with as a straw man argument in the 90's to keep us from getting included in ENDA.

The only times we transpeople have drama revolving around the bathroom is when it is inflicted upon us by misguided cispeople, not the other way around.

1. we have to accept trans-men who present as men in women's bathrooms for their safety;

Transmen use the men's restrooms as they transition, not the women's ones.

2. because it's difficult to tell who is what, we have to accept people who are noticeably biologically male & present as women whether they are trans or not; and

And your problem with that is what?    There are more than a few cisgender women with nonstandard gender presentation who have the same genitalia between their legs as you presumably do.

3. we have to accept lesbians who present as men without question

If you have a problem with that New York Black Beauty, civil rights laws say yes you do.  Lesbians are still women who have to deal with natural body functions on a regular basis even if they have a non standard gender presentation.   We've had some disturbing incidents of such as Khadijah Farmer and Tanya White being tossed out of women's bathrooms by ignorant people.

maybe all of the above are ok, and i just don't understand the issues very well.

There's too much disinformation about us feeding the fear, ignorance and the transphobia and homophobia.   Transwomen are women, period.   Unlike you, our brains, gender ID and bodies didn't match at birth and we have to make it happen later in life..

Transwomen aren't looking for a date when we go to the bathroom.  We're in there to pee, check our presentation and leave.

question: do you think the law will lead to coed locker rooms & multi-stall bathrooms as some predict? would they be the best solution to all of the bathroom equality issues?

Which law are you referring to?     Locker rooms for obvious reasons are still going to be gender segregated.  Having gender neutral bathrooms would be a start.   But since were in a recession, not holding my breath that's going to happen anytime with increasing frequency any time soon.
