Number 2- Rest In Power Alexa Ruiz

Neulisa Luciano Ruiz, also known as Alexa.
While it has been queit since New Year's Day in terms of trans people being killed in 2020, in the years I have been tracking anti-trans deaths here in the US,  there has always seemed to be been somewhat of a lull in the early winter months of January and February before the numbers start exploding as the weather gets warmer.

I've also been marveling at the streak the Latinas had been on in whch they had gone nearly 15th  months since I last wrote about a Latina trans woman being murdered.

September 18, 2018 was the last time that happened on this blog, when Nikki Enriquez was killed in Laredo, TX  by the ex Border Patrol serial killer Juan David Oritiz.

Ortiz is still in jail awaiting trial for her murder and the murders of three other women that occured between September 14-15, 2018.

While the trans Latina community has had  some close calls, including the shooting of Daniela Calderon in Dallas back in October,  I worried that it was only a matter of time before their remarkle luck ran out.

And the circumstances of this second anti-trans murder of 2020 are frankly pissing me off.

We go to Puetro Rico for the latesr trans murder.    Her name was Neulisa Luciano Ruiz, better known as Alexa,  was shot and killed early Monday morning in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico  mere hours after someone called the po-po on her for using the women's restroom at a McDonald's.

We still don't know her age yet,  but the perps of this latest hate crime are alleged to be four teenagers. who videotaped themselves doing so.   Here body was found at approximately 3:50 AM local time.   No  one has claimed her body as of this writing.

But let me say this about the latest murder

Going to the bathroom while trans shouldn't be an effing death sentence. But anti-trans hate thoughts + anti-trans hate speech = anti-trans hate murders.
Alexa Ruiz was homeless. She didn't get the chance to get the help she needed to get out of that situation because somebody killed her in Toa Baja, PR yesterday. .

That ended a remarkable streak in which the US based Latina trans community had gone since September 2018 (Nikki Enriquez, Laredo, TX) ,without having someone murdered.
While they have had some close calls, with Daniela Calderon in Dallas being the most recent example, who survived after being shot at point blank range six times at a bus stop, this senseless death is marjorly pissing me off.
The most vulnerable among us sadly will pay the price for the anti-trans posturing of Republican politicans, TERFs, evilgelicals and transphobic Roman Catholic Church officials, and conservafool media.
Alexa's blood is on their hands, not that they really care. It's also on the hands of the transphobe that made the call on her for simply using the damn bathroom
They are all working in concert to make the lives of trans people here and around the world hell for their own nefarious purposes.
Alexa Ruiz shouldn't have died for simply using the bathroom at a McDonalds. But because some transphobic fool called the cops on her, that's the result.
Rest in power and peace Alexa May the fools who committed this crime be swifrly caught.
And oh yeah,  Let my people pee in peace.  .

Justice For Dandara!

Dandara dos Santos
You may recall the vicious February 15 beating and murder last year of 42 year old Brazilian trans woman Dandara dos Santos by several wastes of DNA men that was captured on video.

2017 also happened to be the deadliest year on record for TBLGQ murders in Brazil.

Dandara was taken out of her home in Fortaleza, stripped, beaten, kicked, stoned and mocked by the killers as she pleaded for her life.  She had transphobic and homophobic slurs hurled at her before she was thrown into a wheelbarrow and carted off. to be shot to death.

The brutal videotaped murder sent shockwaves around the world and outraged the Brazilian and global trans community.  The video also lead to the identification and arrest of the mob of  men  who killed her. .

Justice was finally served in that case as five of the eight participants in this heinous crime received a combined 83 years in jail .

Francisco Jose Monteiro de Oliveira, Jr. who shot dos Santos, was given 21 years in prison.   Jean Victor Silva Oliveira, who attacked her with a wooden board, received a 16 year prison sentence.

Rafael Alves da Silva Paiva, who was filed repeatedly kicking Dandara, was also sentenced to 16 years in jail along with Francisco Gabriel dos Reis.   Isaias da Silva Camurca was sentenced to 14 years and 6 months for his part in the attack on our trans sister, beating her with flip flops.

Jean Oliveira and Paivi are appealing their sentences on the basis of their actions weren't decisive in causing Dandara's death.

Incredibly all of the men tried make the claim that while they attacked her, they weren't responsible for her death.

Activists protest condemnation of accused of killing Dandara dos Santos (Photo: TV Greens Mares / Reproduction)
It was a claim that prosecutor Marcus Renan Palacio dismissed by saying to them, "No one killed Dandara?   Was it lightning that fell on her head?  Was it a stone from a building?

Francisco Oliveira after being sentenced tried to apologize to Dandara's relatives, claiming that he'd committed the crime because he was deluded and he'd learned he has to have love in his heart.

You were right about the deluded part.   But the date you needed to have love in your heart was on February 15, 2017, not when your azz is about to do 21 years in prison from murdering another human being.

Newark Police Looking For Men Who Attacked Trans Woman

Anti-trans hate thoughts + Anti-trans hate speech = anti-trans hate violence.

Unfortunately it is Black trans women who are living with and bearing the brunt of this Equation of Trans Oppression being played out in real time.

If people aren't trying to kill us, they are inappropriately and violently in many cases putting their hands on us, and that toro caca needs to stop.

I was sent a link to the infuriating video by Londyn De Richelieu concerning this disturbing incident that happened in Newark recently a block from Newark's city hall.  .

What it looks like in the snippet of video that I was sent, is that for whatever reason, a trans woman and a cis male were engaged in a physical altercation.  The trans woman appears to have gotten the upper hand on her tormentor, had him pinned to the ground and was kicking that butt as a crowd of bystanders watched.

Then another male in a white t-shirt, black jeans, a black wave cap  and a backpack jumped into the fight, pulling the trans woman off the pinned down male and began to violently kick her in the face, stomp her head and strike her in the face several times before it ended.

The video obviously has caused outrage in Black Trans World, especially in light of the fact we have already lost 12 Black trans women this year to anti-trans violence.

I'm happy to inform you that Newark Police are now looking for the two men involved in this incident, and if you have information on their whereabouts, you are urged to  call the NPD's Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-977-695-4867)

Your anonymous tips will be kept confidential, and could result in a reward if the perpetrators are captured and brought to justice.

So yeah, I'm all in favor of calling the cops on these fools and seeing justice served for the trans woman they attacked.

Assigned Male Cartoonist Attacked By Online Haters

A Montreal-based trans cartoonist, Sophia Labelle, was the victim of a vicious, apparently coordinated online attack that targeted her and other trans-supportive activists.
I've loved the online webcomic Assigned Male ever since I stumbled across it during one of my web searching forays for interesting things to write about.

I wrote about its importance to our community, and even had the pleasure of meeting its lovely artist Sophie Labelle in the vendors area during last year's Philadelphia Trans Health Conference.

But what I'm not happy to hear is that haters have been sending Labelle death threats, doxxed her and hackers in a coordinated attack were successful in temporarily taking down her Facebook website with over three years of Assigned Male strips on it.

And this is happening during a week in which the Canadian Senate was debating Bill C-16, the Trans Rights Act in a Senate committee

Fortunately she'd backed up her work and the Facebook site is now back up online, but it forced her to cancel a book tour appearance in Halifax.

Labelle's book is entitled Dating Tips For Trans and Queer Weirdos, and is a 28 page one that explores the relationship between Ciel and Eirikur, two of the Assigned Male comic characters.

The book tour has two more stops in Quebec City on May 25 and Vancouver on June 1.

Labelle says in a Toronto Star interview that she is more determined than ever to not let the haters win and give it the best she's got.

Image result for Assigned Male characters
That's wonderful to  hear because the comic stip is important to our trans kids.   They need to see positive representations of themselves in the comic world, and I agree with Sophie, that's one of the reasons why the haters came after your strip.

But it's nice to know that your book tour will not only continue, but we'll see more of the Assigned Male adventures of Stephanie and her friends. .

BTAC Condemns Lt Gov. Patrick`s Call For TX Anti-Trans Hate Law

The 2016 edition of the Black Trans Advocacy Conference kicked off in Dallas today, but attendees were dismayed to hear that Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R) signaled during a press conference that he would be supportive of a HB 2 style hate bill in the Lone Star State.  It`s not surprising since Patrick supported and contributed to the HERO repeal forces.

The Black Trans Advocacy Conference this afternoon issued a statement condemning Lt Governor Patrick`s comments attempt to peddle anti trans hatred in Texas.

***

The Black Trans Advocacy Conference condemns Lt. Governor Dan Patrick`s statement that he would support removing human rights protections for all Texans with an HB2 style bill.

We find it particularly egregious that you would cynically use hatred of trans people to do so in an election year.

"I fail to understand why our lieutenant governor would wish to take this regressive step backward," said BTAC executive director Carter Brown. "Trans Texans are your neighbors, business owners, employees, taxpayers, family members,  husbands, wives, and people raising children."

"It is time to move Texas forward, not follow North Carolina down the divisive, economy destroying nouveau Jim Crow path they wish to take our beloved state."

GOP Makes The War On Transpeople Official

Even Stevie Wonder and anyone paying attention to politics over the last few years could see this coming, and the Republican Party finally went there.  They have officially declared war on the trans community by calling for state legislatures to pass anti-trans measures.

So Caitlyn Jenner and other trans Republicans, what was that bull feces y'all have been saying about how we trans folks needed to talk to GOP politicians and get their support?

That RNC document makes it clear that's a fools errand.

Naw boo boo kitties, the legislative oppression of transpeople carries an unmistakable GOP label and stench.  I have yet to see any evidence that your fellow Republicans as a party being one that would understand the plight of trans women and would work to help aid our human rights cause.

When science and accurate information are key components to understanding us, and many Republicans are eagerly taking great pride in being 21st Century Know-Nothings, it points out the fallacy of trying to get people determined to dehumanize and erase your existence for political purposes to vote for advancing your human rights or just being less evil to you.

It also points out the critical importance of trans people not only getting involved politically and handling our electoral business in each and every election cycle, but eventually stepping up and running for election to office ourselves.

And resistance to transphobia is not futile.

It's a war we didn't need or want. but now that the GOP has declared it, we have no choice but to fight for our humanity and utterly crush them..

It's either we fight the GOP and win, or meekly submit to whatever oppression they wish to impose upon our community.

I suggest, to borrow the words of Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica, "We fight 'em until we can't."

Time To Fight An Unjust Anti-Trans Bill In Tennessee

Well, the latest attempt by conservative Republicans to attack trans kids with unjust laws is about to be launched any day now in the Volunteer State.

Thanks to the Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition for posting the alert so I can signal boost it.

The Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition is disappointed to learn that HB 2414 by Lynn, Matlock, & Lamberth, the Transgender Student Bathroom Harassment Act, has been placed On Notice in the House Education Administration and Planning Subcommittee on Tuesday, March 1.

It is imperative that those who live in Tennessee contact members of the committee and express your opposition to this incredibly dangerous bill. It would expose transgender, gender variant, and gender non conforming students to increased levels of bullying, harassment, and physical assault.

Rick Womick (R-Rockvale), 615-741-2804, rep.richard.womick@capitol.tn.gov,

As TTPC advises me how those of us outside Tennessee's borders can help them in their fight against HB 2414 I'll pass that info on to you.   I'll also keep tracking this latest unjust bill designed to attack the humanity of our trans kids.

Maya Young Makes Three Trans Murders In 2016

Maya Young, 25, was fatally stabbed in Philadelphia´s Frankford section this weekend, police said.
Sad to report that another US trans woman has been murdered this year.

25 year old Maya Taylor was found stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest in the 4800 block of Penn Street at 11:50 PM EST Saturday in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

She was taken by police to Aria Health-Frankford, less than two blocks away from where she was found. where she was pronounced dead at 12:21 AM EST on Sunday.

"The community is heartbroken once again with the senseless slaying of another transgender woman of color," wrote Naiymah Sanchez, a coordinator with the Philadelphia based TransHealth Information project on her Facebook page.

South Dakota Fighting Unjust Anti-Trans Bill

While Washington state and Virginia trans peeps have been able to fight off attempts to pass unjust anti-trans bills in their respective states, unfortunately the unjust HB 1008 has kept chugging through the legislative process pushed by Republicans eager to oppress, bully and demonize trans people.

But as Kara Thrace, one of my fave characters in Battlestar Galactica once said, "We do what we always do.  Fight 'em until we can't."

That's the attitude trans South Dakotans and their allies are adopting to push back against this unjust  transphobic bill as it passed the GOP controlled South Dakota House 58-10 and is winding its way through the GOP controlled South Dakota Senate toward a vote on the Senate floor after clearing the Senate education Committee on a 4-2 party line vote.

The unjust HB 1008 would demonize transgender South Dakota students and violate Title IX in doing so.   It would also put federal funding for South Dakota schools at risk just so some Republican legislative bigots can get their jollies on.

When Gov Dennis Daugaard (R) said in a press conference that he'd never met a transgender person he was aware of, activist Kendra Heathscott wrote an open letter reminding him he had.

South Dakota native and attorney Case Strangio has also penned an open letter imploring his home state to not pass anti-trans hate legislation.

Here's hoping that the governor will veto the unjust HB 1008 bill when it gets to his desk.   In the meantime what you can do for our trans brothers and sisters in South Dakota is call his office and urge him to do just that.

TransGriot Update.  The unjust HB 1008 was passed by the South Dakota Senate on a 20-15 vote.   it now goes to Gov. Daugaard for his signature.

Brazilian Trans Day Of Visibility Is Tomorrow

Because of Carnaval, a long list of trans models gracing their local and world's fashion runways like Roberta Close, Lea T, Carol Marra and Felipa Tavares, and a national healthcare system that includes trans specific care up to SRS, Brazil is seen by those of us living in the US as a trans friendly country.

But sadly, because of the confluence of a Roman Catholic faith that has been poisoned by anti-trans attitudes injected to it at the Vatican level,  large Pentecostal megachurch pastors in Brazil spreading hatred of trans people combined with the lack of non-discrimination laws at the federal and state levels, the Brazilian trans community has been hit with an off the charts level of anti-trans murders, abuse and discrimination.

Brazil's trans women are still catching hell.  And it needs to stop.

File:Map of Brazil with flag.svg
While so far here in the US in 2016 after a record setting year of trans murders for us we haven't had a trans sister killed yet (and I pray it stays that way for a while) that is not the case in Brazil.

In just this month alone, according to Aleika Barros, 40 trans women have been killed in Brazil in January. That is double the number of trans women we lost in the entire US over all of 2015, and unfortunately means that if this pattern continues,by the time we have this year's TDOR, Brazil will once again lead the world in genocidal levels of violence aimed at trans women living there..

According to Aleika, between 2008 and 2014, 604 Brazilian trans women have been murdered, and sadly, they are on their way to another murderous year.  Our trans Brazilian sisters are tired of it, and so am I.

Tomorrow is the Trans Day of Visibility in Brazil, which has been celebrated there on this January 29 date since 2004.  This is one Brazilian Trans Day of Visibility in which I hope trans Brazilians will not only emphatically point out that they are citizens of their country whose humanity needs to be recognized, but that their human rights need to be protected at the local, state and national level.

And their murders need to end.

I hope and pray their fellow cisgender Brazilians look into their hearts, join with trans Brazilians and resolve to work in tandem with the Brazilian trans community to bring those unacceptable levels of anti-trans murders to zero.

SBC Trans Hatefest Starts In Louisville Today

In a few hours the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will host a hatefest conference in which they will arrogantly spend three days in trans-free rooms coming up with new ways to spin scripture to attack the trans community.

Can't say I didn't see this coming.  When they lost on marriage, they were going to have to come up with a new enemy to attack and organize their faith based minions around, and it is now us.

The Southern Baptist denomination at their June 2014 conference in Baltimore voted to hate on trans people and to officially put themselves on the wrong side of the trans human rights movement just as they did over a century and a half ago on slavery and Jim Crow segregation.

They can meet if they wish, but the bottom line is and will always be that we trans people and our allies will not allow ANY religious denomination to attempt to turn the non-debatable existence of trans people into a theological issue.

And we damned sure are resisting it with every fiber of our beings.

Hope Louisville is planning a special welcome for you and the rest of Satan's Helpers.

Damn, Damn, Damn! Ashton Is Number 14

Ashton O'Hara via Facebook
Okay, at this point I am starting to feel like Florida Evans in terms of hearing the news about another trans person that won't ive to see their 50th, much less their 40th or 30th birthdays.

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired of writing these posts about another young Black trans person being murdered before they have even had a chance to live their lives.

Meet 25 year old Ashton O'Hara of Detroit, who was murdered on July 14.  Ashton is sadly now the 14th trans person murdered in this deadly year of 2015 that has exceeded in 8 months the entire total of US trans murders for all of 2014.   And once again, Ashton is another trans and gender variant person under the age of 30  who has been taken away from us far too soon.

We've had five murders announced in August alone and this month still isn't over yet.  And yeah, this is the second one in Detroit in 2015.  Amber Monroe was the other one, and the last report I had was her killer has yet to be found.

Once again, when will our #BlackTransLivesMatter?  And far too often, the people killing us are other Black people.   That was the case in this latest murder in which we already have an arrest in this case.

O'Hara's suspected killer, 37 year old Larry B.Gaulding is facing a first degree murder charge in a trial set to begin on September 24.   Let's pack the courtroom and ensure that justice is served in this case.

One thing I am happy to see is that a dialogue has been opened up between the Detroit PD and the local community that will hopefully result in a reduction in crimes aimed at the trans population.

We also need other cis Black folks to stop cosigning on the conservafool driven hatred of trans people for their nefarious political purposes.  We're tired of y'all in Black Cis World thinking that the way to be a 'good Christian' is to mimic white fundamentalists conservafools who have a deep seated hatred of blackness and Black people. .

As per usual, I'll be keeping up with this case as well in order to see if Ashton got justice.

The 40th And Last MichFest

The 40th and last Michigan Womyn's Music Festival starts today and runs in the Hart, MI area until August 9.   After 40 years, it is being shut down by its founder, longtime TERF oppressor Lisa Vogel with rivers of white womyn tears being shed over its self inflicted demise.

People have asked me as a longtime critic of the Trans Exterminationalist (Exclusionary) Radical Feminists and MichFest in general how do I feel about that.

As a trans woman targeted by people indoctrinated on '''The Land' who leave after the Hate On Trans Womyn Convening to take that transphobia they honed there into the real world, all I have to say is this

So long!  See ya!  Adios!  Good riddance to transphobic rubbish!

Makes me so happy to see it happening after 40 years I feel like popping open that bottle of champagne I was saving for a special occasion and dancing.

But let's be real for a moment.   It didn't have to happen this way.   All Lisa Vogel and MichFest had to do was evolve.  They hypocritically let trans men in the gates, but refused to do so for trans women, and they paid the price for their lack of inclusive vision.

Women who believed that ALL women should be on The Land tried and failed to get that policy changed, and eventually stopped coming.  Many artists because of the blatant transphobia like the Indigo Girls, Nona Hendryx and Lea DeLaria stopped coming or refused to play MichFest.

Through it all, Vogel denied there was a trans feminine exclusion policy and obstinately clung to those transphobic disco era ways like a wino clutching her last bottle of MD20/20.

So when you womyn-born-womyn are crying those rivers of vanillacentric privileged tears and looking for somebody to blame for your little anti-trans hate party shutting down forever in a few days, look in the mirror first, and then at Lisa Vogel. .   .

Y'all have fun being stuck in the 70's for the last time on The Land.

Trans Woman Attacked In NYC Subway Station

subway
When I last visited New York City in December, one of the things I was cognizant of while riding their subways was making sure I was standing in the middle of the subway station platforms as I waited for my MTA trains to take me wherever I wanted to go.

I was well aware of the history of people being either shoved onto the tracks or into oncoming trains by disturbed people.

And while there are a lot of girls in NYC who are my height, I was definitely paying attention to my surroundings when I was riding the subways.

With the increased attention on trans people because of the media hoopla surrounding Caitlyn Jenner, it's also had the affect of transphobia being ramped up in right wing circles that may manifest itself into increased hate attacks on transpeople

On Monday a 28 year old trans woman waiting for a  southbound 6 train at Manhattan's Bleecker St. Station at 9 AM EDT was assaulted and shoved off the platform by a male assailant.

The assailant asked the woman “What are you looking at?” while standing nearby on the platform. He then “ran to a garbage pail” and removed a plastic bottle which he threw at her before pushing her onto the tracks, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

Commuters pulled the woman off the tracks and back onto the platform as the assailant fled the scene  Authorities then took the woman to Bellevue Hospital where she was treated for lacerations on her chin and other bruises on her chin and arm before being released.

NYPD is investigating this incident as a hate crime, and this person is wanted for the crime.

And note to you trans haters, trans women are not your societal punching bags for your personal problems and issues.

As we wish our trans sister who was attacked a speedy recovery from her injuries, let us also hope the waste of DNA who committed this crime be swiftly arrested and punished for it.

Florida Rally To Fight Unjust HB 583 Tomorrow

Florida Republican introduces draconian anti-transgender billThe anti-trans hate is flowing in Teapublican ranks as they gleefully pimp unjust bills aimed at oppressing trans people in Texas, Kentucky and Florida.

HB 583 is the unjust bill seeking to make Florida transpeople criminals for simply peeing in the bathroom.

On Tuesday, March 3rd, Trans Lives Matter Tallahassee and allied forces will gather on the steps of the old Florida Capitol around 2 PM EST to speak out against the new HB 583 introduced by Rep. Artilles.

The house bill introduced by Rep. Frank Artilles would criminalize Trans folk from using the bathroom and other public facilities that match their gender identity. It would charge them with a $1,000 fine, up to one year in jail, and even lawsuits for not using the bathroom that matches their birth assigned gender. It would severely endanger the very safety of Trans folk all over Florida on a day to day basis.

We call for this Transphobic HB 583 introduced by Rep. Frank Artiles to be immediately stopped. We want an end to legislation that endangers the livelihood of trans people. We call for an expansion of gender neutral bathroom across the state and want to see the legislation that protects Transgender folk from hate crimes.

This speakout will be hosted by Trans Lives Matter Tallahassee, The Dream Defenders, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), The Center for Participant Education (CPE) and The E-Word.

KY Republicans Shadily Pass Unjust Anti-Trans SB 76 Out Of Committee

Kentucky Senate chamber.jpg
Don't pop that champagne cork in the Bluegrass state concerning the unjust Bathroom Bounty Bill's demise just yet.

Never underestimate the GOP's desire to hate on groups they don't like.

The Teapublican haters in the Senate Education Committee regrouped, waited until Sen. Gerald Neal (D-Louisville) and Sen. Julie Raque Adams (R-Louisville) were not in Frankfort, then called a snap meeting of the committee Monday night to revisit the issue.

And this time they also made sure they had the transphobes speaking in front of the committee

"I know of several girls at my school who are uncomfortable with my school's policy but are afraid to speak out about it because they know the school's not on their side and they're afraid of judgment by their peers," Christina Kelty told reporters. "I thought those girls needed a voice."

Umm hmm.  Being a transphobe and an oppression enabler should ALWAYS make you uncomfortable, Christina

The bill shadily passed out of committee 8-1 with the lone NO vote belonging to Sen. Reginald Thomas, D-Lexington, who is the other African-American senator on the committee.

He also said this reminded him of an era when white students were uncomfortable using the restroom with Black students

The unjust bill now advances to the floor of the Teapublican controlled Kentucky senate (26-12 GOP edge), where we'll see if they waste valuable time in this legislative session debating it instead of passing a state budget.

But alas, it seems as though the 21st century Republican Party always has time to pass unjust laws that enable bigotry and oppression instead of govern..

Unjust HB 1748 Bathroom Bill Filed In Texas

RiddleFigured it wouldn't take long before our right wing idiots decided to not be left out of the hate on transpeople party.

It's also another example of what I continue to say in terms of the most dangerous bigot is the one with the power to write legislation.

Teapublican Rep. Debbie Riddle has just filed HB 1748, an odious bill that if it becomes law,  would make it a class-A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a maximum $4,000 fine for transgender people to use "a locker room, shower facility, or toilet facility designated for use by persons of a gender that is not the same gender as the individual’s gender."

Damn Debbie, don't we have better things to spend our valuable Lone Start State legislative time on besides obsessing over what bathroom trans people use?

Really makes me wonder why you white conservatives continue to express this deep seated need to oppress people.

Riddle's HB 1748 would also make it a state jail felony punishable by up to two years in prison and a maximum $10,000 fine for a building manager to "repeatedly allow" a transgender person to use such a facility according to their gender identity.

What's even more interesting is how this scientifically illiterate bill defines gender:

Riddle

Hey Debbie, would love to see you lead by example and volunteer to do a chromosome test.  I and every other Texas trans person would laugh our asses off if you came up anything but XX.

This caca is why my hatred of Republicans grows the older I get and with every legislative session they propose bills that repress everyone else except white conservative males.

I also get pissed off when some liberal progressive person stupidly says in my presence that voting is a waste of time.   Sitting out elections is why this scientifically challenged person is in the Texas Legislature now.

Looks like a trip to Austin is coming soon.  And Texas transpeeps, time for us to saddle up and become agents of our own liberation and fight this crappy (pun intended) bill.

But it also evidence that the trans human rights movement is winning if the best that conservative opponents can do is go back to recycled for the new millennium Jim Crow tactics and attempt to criminalize the bathrooms once again.

Florida Republican Introduces Unjust Anti-Trans Bill

Florida Republican introduces draconian anti-transgender billFor those of you who thought that Moni was selling you woof tickets when she and others warned you that the Teapublicans and the conservafool movement were going to shift their money and anti-LGBT industry apparatus into attacking us and we'd better be ready for it, here's your wake up call coming from Florida.

Rep. Frank Artiles from the Miami area has introduced a draconian bill (HB 583) that attempts to pimp the long discredited bathroom predator myth and would require all transpeople, pre, non and post op to use only facilities that match their assigned sex at birth, not the ones that match their gender presentation.

What ALEC asshole came up with this this anti-trans caca?

Artiles’ HB 583 bill would hold trans people who use facilities that match their gender expression liable for civil penalties and provides an avenue for civil action against operators of public accommodations who follow trans-inclusive policies.

Even more ominous is the legislation would override non-discrimination ordinances in Florida cities that have extended public accommodations protections to transgender people.

In other words, the unjust Artiles bill would if made law, legalize anti-trans discrimination in Florida.

Okay Florida trans peeps of all flavors, damned sure time to become agents of your own liberation.   This is a straight up attack on our human rights.

Time to start fighting back by signing your John and Jane Hancocks to this petition condemning HB 583.

And it's probably time to unleash pee-in protests in cities across Florida, Tallahassee and Rep Artiles' offices.

What have I been saying for a while?  The most dangerous transphobic bigot is the one with the power to write legislation.

Well, here's Exhibit A of that. And it's dehumanizing crap like this  that feeds into the anti-trans animus that disproportionately results in dead Latina and Black trans women.

The unjust HB 583 bill must die.

Unchecked Anti-Trans Hate Speech Kills

Right now I'm pissed the hell off.

In the last two weeks we have had two Black trans women, aged 24 and 30 killed in Virginia and Texas.   Both have been misgendered and disrespected in their local media, and Lamia was further disrespected by having her arrest record salaciously added to the story by media stenographers who failed to read their AP Stylebooks

Meanwhile I'm observing a large corporation fighting a discrimination suit filed by another Black trans woman by asserting they have a right to discriminate against Leyth Jamal and by extension, all of us.

And yeah, seeing King Hater Dave Welch and Steve 'Swastika Cakes' Riggle accompanied by his not so merry band of sellout kneegrow ministers at the opening of the HERO trial here in Houston yesterday isn't helping my mood right now.

Because I'm thinking about two more Black trans women in Lamia and Ty that not only won't live to see my age as a Kennedy Baby, they won't live to celebrate their 40th birthdays.

Hell, Ty won't know what it's like to celebrate her 30th birthday.

So if you wonder why I get pissed off when I see media misgendering of my living and deceased sisters, or call out people spreading anti-trans hatred and lies in comment threads or in the blogosphere, it's because unchecked anti-trans hate is not harmless.

I'm also beyond sick and tired of lesbian, gay and SGL peeps ignorantly or willfully enabling that anti-trans hate online, while we're trying to live our trans lives interacting with the world, and in their not so quiet rainbow rooms.

Unchecked anti-trans hate speech kills.  And I'm tired of the Black and Latina trans feminine communities having to deal with the violent repercussions of that anti-trans hate speech morphing into families having to prematurely bury their child or starting a gofundme to come up with the cash to do so.

I'm sick and tired of the lost potential to us and the world at large of these young trans women who have left us far too soon.  Ty was studying to be a nurse, so we will never receive as a society the benefits of her permanently interrupted nursing education.

#BlackTransLiveMatter.    Unchecked anti-trans hate speech kills whether it's online, in the media or from the pulpit.   When is the Black cis community going to focus the same level of urgency of stopping the genocidal level of murders of Black trans feminine people as they do for the rest of cis Black America?

How long Black America before the loss of Black trans women to senseless anti-trans violence is also unacceptable to our community?

How many of us trans folks have to die before you cis people care?

Dave Wilson Proposes Anti-Trans Houston Charter Amendment

I've been aware since Thanksgiving he's been up to this shady unconstitutional BS for a while since my mom and sister got those transphobic hate pieces in the mail.|

Now it's starting to get more media coverage

Longtime Houston TBLG hater Dave Wilson wants to make Houston trans people permanent third class citizens.

In this blatant attack on Houston trans people, Wilson wants to have this language added to the City of Houston charter

"Except as required by State or Federal law, the City of Houston shall only define 'Gender Identity' as an Individual's Innate Identification, as either male or female, which Is assigned at birth. Perceived gender identification Is not allowed In defining 'Gender Identity.' Furthermore, the City of Houston shall require entities doing business with the city to adopt the same definition of 'Gender Identity.'"

Not no but hell no.  Besides, why would we trust a guy who deliberately misrepresented himself as Black to get elected to the Houston Community College system board?

Wilson would need to collect 20,000 signatures to place his anti-trans amendment on the 2015 city ballot.

Seeing that they just failed to collect enough signatures to get HERO on this year's ballot, I would hope they would have even more trouble putting something even more extreme, discriminatory and anti-human rights in front of City of Houston voters.

And there is no fracking way I will sit idly by and allow this piece of anti-trans crap to desecrate the City of Houston's charter.

I will fight that with every fiber of my trans being to ensure the Wilson Anti-Trans Hate Amendment  dies a public and painful death.

As a matter of fact, I think it's past time that we TBLG folks and our human rights loving allies push a charter amendment of our own  that seeks to ban the use of the charter amendment process to roll back the human rights of marginalized groups.

And this is also one more glaring example of why the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance needs to be implemented without delay.
