TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks-Week 7

Image result for texans vs colts 2016 game
I had a great Week 6 picking NFL games highlighted by the Texans coming back from their somnambulant first half of offense at NRG Stadium to resemble and NFL offense in the second half to tie and eventually prevail in overtime in this critical AFC South Division game against the Indianapolis Colts thanks in large part to Lamar Miller and the Texans defense.

Now they face an interesting Monday night game with the Denver Texans Broncos in which they'll not only be facing their former coaches in Gary Kubiak and Wade Phillips, but several former Texans.

That'll be on Monday night.

I rebounded from a subpar for me 8-6 to go 10-5 despite the upsets.  Mike on the other hand after cutting my lead in half after his first winning week of the season followed that up with another sub 500 one to give me a five game lead going into this week..

And it's time to build on that momentum and pick this week's NFL games.

Only 15 games on this week's on the schedule, and you long time TransGriot readers know the drill for this TransGriot prognostication contest..

Teams I'm picking to be victorious are in bold print, with the home team in CAPS.   Teams on their bye week are two heading in opposite directions in the reeling Carolina Panthers and the Arlington Dallas Cowboys

There's also another NFL International game happening in London with the Giants and Rams facing off at Wembley Stadium.

Yeah, still hate that NFL franchise up I-45 with a passion  And with them getting off to a 5-1 start, their Harris County Fifth Column is going to be insufferable until they start losing again.
The best Cowboy fan is a silent one.

Focus, Moni..  Eyes on the prize in defending my 2015 title.  Time for this week's picks.   Mike's will be here.

And for those of you wondering where's Eli, he's sitting this season out recovering from a serious health challenge.   Send him your warm thoughts and prayers.

He did make a preseason Super Bowl pick, and I'll reveal that to you next week.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks- Week 6

Image result for Vikings sack Osweiler
Week 5 wasn't a good one for me or the Texans, and thankfully I was busy with my high school classmates so I didn't have to watch my fave NFL ballers stink up US Bank Stadium

The Vikings are also one of the two NFL squads the Texans have never beaten (now 0-5) in franchise history.  The other is the Philadelphia Eagles (0-4) who they will play next year when the AFC South is matched up with the NFC East.

They are playing a nationally televised AFC South game at NRG Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts, so whatever bad football they played in Minneapolis needs to stay there.

While I went into Week 5 with a four game lead,  it got cut in half because for the first time this season, Mr. Watts won a week outright.

It was bound to happen sometime, and he was definitely motivated after having his first sub 500 week of the 2016 season.

Well, let's get to  NFL Week 6.  Only two teams, the aforementioned Vikings and the Buccaneers are on their bye week, which means that we get to pick 15 games this week.

Y'all know the drill.  Teams I'm picking to win are in bold print with the home team in all CAPS.  Mike's picks will be available for viewing via this link from his blog.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks-Week 5

Image result for 2016 nfl standings
We're now past the first quarter of the 2016 NFL season and my fave NFL ballers are not only sitting atop the AFC South Division with a two game lead, I increased my lead at the one quarter of the season mark over Mike to four games.thanks to a 9-6 Week 4 as Mr. Watts had a sub-500 week.

There are only three unbeaten NFL teams left.  The defending champion Denver Broncos ar 4-0 at this point and a surprise to be here at this point.   In the NFC the two unbeaten teams are also surprises in the 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles and the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings.

And in the NFL news of the week that the entire New England region cares about, Tom Brady is coming back at quarterback for the Patriots after his four game suspension.

And I feel sorry for the 0-4 Browns who look like at this point in the season they are cruising to another number one draft pick.

Let me get to this week's NFL picks   Four teams on on their bye week in the Jaguars, Chiefs, Saints and Seahawks so we get to pick only 14 games this week.

The Jaguars and Colts played last week in London, but the Colts elected to take their bye week in Week 10 and not this week.  We'll see if that decision kicks them in the behind as a result.

For those of you who love this weekly feature, y'all know the drill.  Teams I'm picking to win are in BOLD print, home team in CAPS.  Mike's Week 5 picks will be available to view via this link to his blog.

So let's get ready to rumblllllle, er prognosticate.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks-Week 4

Image result for falcons vs saints 2016
Week 3 is over, and now it's Week 4 of the 2016 NFL season.  This week means a quarter of the season has gone by.

We now have a rough idea of which teams are contenders for an NFL title, which teams are potential playoff teams, and which teams are cruising towards the 2017 NFL Draft in Philadelphia and the number one pick.

There have been some surprises in this young season.  The Eagles are doing better than expected with their rookie QB Carson Wentz along with the defending champion Broncos and ugh, the Arlington Cowchips.

Something else that turned out to be a surprise was that the Falcons-Saints game, which was a 45-32 victory for Atlanta, because of the first Clinton-Trump presidential debate being televised at the same time, becoming the lowest rated MNF game in history because of the debate's record audience.

My fave NFL ballers suffered a major loss when all everything defensive end JJ Watt reinjured his back in that shutout loss to the New England Patriots and is now on IR for the next 8 weeks and possibly the season.

After two stellar weeks in which I went 22-10 with my picks, cooled off a bit in Week 3 due to some games that didn't go my way, but still maintaining my overall two game lead over Mr. Watts, which is all that matters right now.

It's time to handle my NFL prognostication business.   Only 15 games to select this week because teams are now starting to get the bye weeks, and the  Eagles and Packers are getting to chill and watch everyone else play.

Y'all know the drill.   Teams I'm picking to win this week will be in BOLD print.  Home team will be in all CAPS and Mike Watts' picks can be accessed via this link.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks-Week 3

Image result for houston texans 2016 jj watt
Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season has come and gone, and my fave NFL footballers are still unbeaten and sitting atop the AFC South Division standings.

But tonight the Texans are about to be tested by the team that many people consider them to be modeled after in the New England Patriots.   They are also catching them with Tom Brady sitting out a four game league imposed suspension for Deflategate and his backup in Jimmy Garoppolo being injured.

Can the Texans knock them off in Foxborough and get a leg up in this clash of AFC playoff contenders for the early lead for home field advantage in the AFC playoffs?   We'll see in a few hours.

Speaking of early leads, after two weeks, my campaign to defend my TransGriot NFL prognostication title and repeat as champion is off to a successful start.   Won the first week, and tied with Mr. Watts in Week 2.

Translation, I have a two game lead, and want to build on that or at least maintain it.   Have 16 more games to pick this week to keep the positive momentum going.

Y'all know the drill.   Team I'm picking will be in BOLD print.   Home team is in CAPS   A link to Mike's picks will be here.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks-Week 2

Image result for Houston texans beat Bears 2016
Picking games during the first week of a new NFL season is always a nerve wracking crapshoot.

Because of all the roster moves, retirements, training camp injuries, suspensions, coaching changes, et cetera, you have no idea until they kick the ball off in the first week's games whether all those changes helped the teams that executed those moves and made them better, worse or kept them at the same level of 8-8  or 7-9 mediocrity.

Image result for houston texans deandre hopkins touchdown 2016 vs Bears
Here in Houston we were quite happy with the outcome of last week's NFL activity. We were pleased to see something we haven't witnessed for a long time here in Texans Nation.

What's that you ask?  A Texans offense with speedy wide receivers like Deandre Hopkins and rookies Will Fuller and Braxton Miller who can stretch the field and cause problems for opposing defenses and a defense with a healthy Jadeveon Clowney playing on the field.

We were also pleased in H-Town to see that the Texans won, and the Tennessee Traitors, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts all lost, which means at this early juncture the Texans are for now in first place in the AFC South Division.

Nope, never gonna let it go that the Oilers moved to Nashville.

Back to this week's prognostication post.

There were a lot of close games during Week 1, many of which I got right.   And thanks to the New York Giants and New England Patriots, my campaign to defend my NFL prognostication title is off to a great start after going 11-5.

But that was last week.  This is Week 2 and have another 16 games to pick   Team I'm selecting to win will be in BOLD print.  Home team is in CAPS.

These are Mike's Week 2 picks.

TransGriot 2016 NFL Picks Week 1

I'm in San Francisco as this NFL season kicks off tonight, and my campaign to defend my 2015 NFL prognostication title and become the first repeat champion begins tonight as well.

Last year was my first title since 2012, and it's ironic I'm here in the wake of 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's decision to not stand during the national anthem that has gotten him vilified by right wingers and  praise from other people including veterans and other activist athletes like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for being a prominent athlete taking a stand for the Black community.

Should be interesting to see what happens when they take on the Los Angeles Rams down the road from me in Santa Clara on Monday night.

NFL_Kickoff_2016_260x146Yep, I said the Los Angeles Rams.  This not only their 80th season since their founding in 1936, they moved back to LA from St Louis in the offseason.  This is their first regular season game as the LA Rams since they bounced for St Louis in 1995.

But back to the fun part.   It's the opening weekend of the 2016 NFL season and the prognostication contest between me and Mike Watts.   Eli's unfortunately not competing this year. and both of us wish him a speedy recovery from the health issues that have him sidelined this year.  He will have the opportunity to guest post his thoughts here about how the season's going and looking forward to doing so when that happens..

We hope and pray you make a speedy recovery and are back tangling with us for NFL prognostication supremacy in 2017.

256 games, 17 weeks, and it all starts with tonight's Super Bowl 50 rematch between Carolina and the defending NFL champion Denver Broncos.  16 games since all 32 NFL squads are in action.
Teams I'm selecting to win this week are in bold print, home team in CAPS.

Mike's Week 1 picks here.

I'm Ready For Some 2016 NFL Prognostication!

The NFL season starts next week, and I will be once it starts competing for TransGriot NFL prognostication glory and to see if I can do something no one in the history of this contest has done.

Repeat as the champion.

Unfortunately it's just me and Mike Watts this year.  Eli Blake, the third member of our prognostication trio who was our 2013 champion, is recovering from major health issues, and reluctantly won't be competing for the 2016 title.

What he will do from time to time is be a guest commentator as Mike and I battle for 2016 NFL season supremacy as we both wish him a speed recovery.

The rules are the same.  We pick that week's regular season NFL games, no spread.  Picks are posted no later than 10 minutes before kickoff of the first game of that NFL week.  Person with the best record after the last of 256 regular season games has been played in Week 17 will be declared the winner.

That was moi last year.   And I'm ready for some NFL regular season football.  .

TransGriot 2015 NFL Picks-Super Bowl 50

Super Bowl 50 Logo.svg
Well, nailed both the conference title games picks which makes me 7-3 in the 2015-16 NFL playoffs to add to my 2015 NFL regular season prognostication title, and now it's time to get to my Super Bowl 50 pick.

Both teams have had a week off since their Championship Sunday tilts, and they are in Santa Clara getting ready to battle for the NFL title this Sunday.

Gary Kubiak, Denver Broncos
This may be Peyton Manning's last NFL game, and the Broncos have my Houston homeboy Gary Kubiak as their head coach along with several former Texans in their lineup, and a top five defense.

I deeply appreciate them along with every NFL fan who can't stand New England for beating the Patriots 20-18 and ensuring that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick would be sitting at home watching this game.

But I just can't ignore the fact that the Carolina Panthers have been on a season long roll, also have a an amazing defense, finished 15-1, and only got better in the playoffs as they withstood a furious Seattle Seahawks comeback to win 31-24 after sprinting out to a 31-0 halftime lead in their Divisional round playoff game and stomping the Arizona Cardinals 49-15 in the NFC title game.

And yes, I'm rooting for Panthers coach Ron Rivera to make some NFL history as the second Latino head coach to win a Super Bowl after Tom Flores.   I also want Cam Newton to have the opportunity to shut up his racist haters and become the third African-American starting quarterback (Doug Williams 1988, Russell Wilson 2014) to take his team to a Super Bowl win.

Interestingly enough, Williams and Wilson both beat the Broncos to make that Black sporting history.

Enough jibber-jabber, lets get to my Super Bowl 50 pick. .So who will be hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the end of this game?

The Carolina Panthers will emerge as the 2015-16 NFL champions.

TransGriot 2015 NFL Picks-Conference Championship

I'm in Chicago for Creating Change, but the NFL 2015-16 playoffs are rolling toward Championship Sunday and who will play in Super Bowl 50.

In last week's Divisional Round went 3-1 (5-3 for the playoffs) on my picks thanks to that unbelievable play in OT by Larry Fitzgerald that followed a miracle Green Bay Hail Mary that tied the game at 20-20 and sent it to overtime.

It's Championship Sunday, and hope we get two games that match the drama of those Divisional round matchups.

AFC Championship

#2 New England Patriots (13-4) at #1 Denver Broncos (13-4)

First up on Championship Sunday is the rematch, with much higher stakes between the Patriots and Broncos.  The regular season clash played at Sports Authority Field back on November 29 resulted in an unexpected 30-24 Denver overtime victory that knocked the Patriots from the unbeaten ranks and the Broncos eventually getting home field for this game.

This time, Brock Osweiler won't be the starting QB, Peyton Manning will be.  He led them to a come from behind 23-16 victory in their Divisional round game against the Steelers.  The Brady bunch ended the Kansas City Chiefs season with their 27-20 win at Gillette Stadium.

Should be another interesting and close game between future Hall of Fame QB's Manning and Brady, but only one will be walking away with the Lamar Hunt trophy at the end of the game and a punched ticket to Super Bowl 50.

While it's hard to beat a team twice in the same season,  Broncos will win this game.

NFC Championship

#2 Arizona Cardinals (14-3)  at #1 Carolina Panthers (16-1)

This game will be in Charlotte, and it's a game matching arguably the two best teams in the NFC and possibly the league.

Both of them had interesting Divisional round games to say the least.   The Cardinals had go to overtime to punch their first NFC conference title game ticket since 2008 after Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary throw on the last play of regulation time tied the game 20-20.

The Panthers stormed out of the locker room and built a 31-0 halftime lead against the Seahawks, then had to hold on for dear life as the two time NFC champs mounted a furious second half comeback that fell just short.

This should be a fun game to watch, but as for who I think will be hoisting the George Halas trophy after the game, it will be the Panthers.

TransGriot 2015 NFL Picks - Divisional Round

As you TransGriot readers probably guessed, I was not happy with the piss poor playoff performance of my hometown NFL ballers, but picked that game correctly.

Note to Texans GM Rick Smith:  Please get the Texans an NFL quality franchise starting quarterback
Went 2-2 thanks to Blair Walsh missing a chip shot field goal and the Bengals melting down in the fourth quarter to snatch playoff defeat from the jaws of a streak snapping playoff victory.

It's now the 2016 NFL playoffs Divisional Round.  The stakes are higher in these four games this weekend, with the winners going to the conference championship games and the losers ending their season lamenting about what might have been.

And  now, my picks for this weekend's NFL playoff games.

NFL Divisional Round    Saturday, January 16, 2016

#5 Kansas City Chiefs (12-5) at #2 New England Patriots (12-4)

Interestingly enough, this is the first ever meeting of both teams in the playoffs

The Chiefs go into this game as the league's hottest team after the number 2 ranked defense in the league forced five turnovers in their 30-0 shutout of the Texans to win their eleventh straight game and snap their eight game playoff losing streak.

Meanwhile the defending NFL champion Patriots needed that bye week off. After starting 10-0, they limped down the stretch with a 2-4 record after suffering a series of injuries that has crippled their offense and left them with an offense line that has struggled to protect Tom Brady this year..

But you can't bet against a team that has gone 32-5 at home in the playoff, and the Chiefs are due to lose a game.  Patriots to win this game,

#5 Green Bay Packers (11-6) at #2 Arizona Cardinals (13-3)

After spotting Washington an 11-0 lead, the Packers offense finally woke up from their several week long slumber and looked like their number three NFL ranked selves by scoring on five consecutive possessions ti get control of the game and cruise to their 35-18 wild card round win

But this week they are playing a Cardinals squad that demolished them 38-8 back on December 27 in Glendale, and is itching to prove they are the best team complete team in the league,

They say it's hard to beat the same team twice in the same season. but Arizona will handle their business in the desert once again and move on to the NFC title game.

NFL Divisional Round   Sunday January 17, 2016

#6 Seattle Seahawks (11-6) at #1 Carolina Panthers (15-1)

Sunday starts off with a heavyweight matchup between the fortunate to be here Seahawks and a Panthers team that is on a mission to get to Santa Clara for Super Bowl 50.

The Seahawks are probably happy it won't be -6 degrees like it was for last week's game, but don't let that sixth seed fool you.  The Seahawks are not quite the Legion of Boom, but are still the number one ranked defense in the NFL.  The two time defending NFC champs offense also woke up down the stretch and gets Marshawn Lynch back..

Carolina has their MVP candidate QB Cam Newton rested and ready for this battle between two teams that are basically mirror images of each other.

It will be a tight game, but Seattle will pull off the upset to get to their third straight NFC title game.

#6 Pittsburgh Steelers (11-6) at #1 Denver Broncos (12-4)

The last time these teams played during the regular season, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown were enjoying their Heinz Field home cooking.  They stormed back from a 27-13 deficit to force two turnovers and scored 20 unanswered second half points to get a 34-27 comeback victory over a Bronco team being quarterbacked by Brock Osweiler.

But this time the game is in Denver, and Peyton Manning will be the Broncos starter.  Antonio Brown still hasn't cleared concussion protocol after suffering a concussion in the wildcard game against Cincinnati they were fortunate to win 18-16 thanks to the Bengals fourth quarter meltdown, they have a running back by committee situation due to injuries and Roethlisberger is banged up.

You'll also have a Peyton Manning determined to shake off his failed playoff performances of the past and give the fans at Sports Authority Field at Mile High some to cheer about.

Advantage and game to the Broncos.

TransGriot 2015 NFL Picks- Wild Card Weekend Edition

The 2015 NFL regular season has concluded and it's now playoff time.  All is right in my prognostication world as I have captured the 2015 TransGriot NFL regular season prognostication title, and now I will attempt to prove to 'errbody' that it wasn't a fluke.

As a reminder, here's who I thought would be the AFC and NFC champs in Super Bowl 50.

'As to which teams I'm predicting will be in Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco, I like New England and Seattle. We'll see how accurate that prediction is in February.'

So far so good.  While the Patriots ended up as the AFC number 2 seed with a bye into the Divisional Round, the Seahawks, if they are going to make it to their third straight Super Bowl, will have to do so from the number 6 seed and win three straight NFC playoff road games to do so.

So let's get to the Wild Card Weekend predictions.

AFC Wild Card Round   Saturday January 9, 2016

#5 Kansas City (11-5) at  #4 Houston Texans (9-7)

This is a rematch of the season opener at NRG Stadium in which the Chiefs sprinted out to a 27-9 lead before the Texans comeback led by Ryan Mallett fell short in a 27-20 loss

Since that Week One clash, both teams are not only light years different from the teams that met back in September, they are riding win streaks.  The Chiefs closed out the season with 10 straight wins to punch their playoff tickets after sliding to 1-5, and the Texans overcame a 3-5 start and using four quarterbacks to finish the season 6-2 and capture their third AFC South title in five years thanks to the having the number 3 ranked defense in the NFL and a certain NFL sack leader named Justin James Watt on their side.

But the Chiefs are no slouches on defense either, ranking seventh in the league defensively.

But they have also lost eight straight playoff games, and the last time they won one was in 1993 in the Astrodome with Joe Montana as their quarterback against an Oilers team that won 12 straight games after an 0-4 start to win the AFC Central Division. That shocking playoff loss set in motion the events that led to them moving to Nashville.

The Texans have never lost a wild card round game, beating the Bengals twice in front of raucous home crowds, so somebody's playoff streak is about to die.

My heart is with my hometown NFL team, my head says the Chiefs will win because they have a starting QB in Alex Smith, the Texans don't unless Brian Hoyer plays his A game, and they lost their All-Pro Duane Brown off the offensive line who usually gets the assignment of neutralizing the opposition's best pass rusher.

But won't be too upset if I get this one wrong.

#6 Pittsburgh (10-6) vs #3 Cincinnati (12-4)

The Steelers are in thanks to the Jets losing, and the Bengals won the AFC North for the second straight year thanks to their franchise best ever 8-0 start. The teams split the season series, with the Bengals taking a 16-10 come from behind win at Heinz Field to go 7-0.

The Steelers returned the favor in Week 14, spanking the Bengals 33-20 at Paul Brown Stadium in which the Bengals lost QB Andy Dalton to a thumb injury.

Bit this time these AFC North division rivals are playing for a spot in the Divisional round of the playoffs and the Bengals aren't playing the Texans.   The Steelers also have problems in their secondary that the Bengals deep passing game will exploit even if the QB throwing those deep balls is AJ McCarron.

Bengals to move on to the next round.

NFC Wild Card Round   January 10, 2016

#6 Seattle (10-6)  vs #3 Minnesota (11-5)

The Seahawks bid for a NFC championship threepeat and a third consecutive trip to the Super Bowl starts at 12 noon in a frozen Minneapolis against the NFC North champs.  The new US Bank domed stadium doesn't open until this summer, and this will be the first outdoor home playoff game for the Vikings since their quarterback's name was Fran Tarkenton.

The temp at kickoff is predicted to be at 1 degree F for the high.  That last chilly Viking playoff game BTW, was a 24-13 victory in the NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams in 12 degree F weather on December 26, 1976.

This chilly wildcard game is also a rematch of the Week 13 one played at TCF Bank Stadium in which the Seahawks came to town and ran over the Vikings 38-7 in 37 degree F weather.

And bad news for Vikings fans, Marshawn Lynch will be in the lineup for this playoff game,

But the Vikings have been exceeding expectations all season.  Nobody expected them to win the NFC North and they did in a do or die Week 17 game against the hated Packers at Lambeau Field.

Nobody expected them to win at Lambeau Field or Soldier Field and they accomplished both this season on their way to their first NFC North title since 2012.  Nobody expected Adrian Peterson to win the NFL rushing title this season but he did. Nobody is expecting Teddy Bridgewater to outduel Russell Wilson this Sunday either.

But tomorrow, their luck runs out,   They say it hard to beat a team twice in the NFL, but the Seahawks are on a roll and will start their road to a third consecutive Super Bowl with a close win.

#5 Green Bay (10-6) at  #4 Washington (9-7)

Somebody had to win the NFC East, and it was the NFL ballers from DC who  went 6-3 after their bye week to capture the division and enter this clash at FedEx Field on a four game win streak.

The Packers head to our nation's capital for this wild card matchup limping in with a 4-6 record down the stretch and the Packer offense not being its usual prolific self, ranking 31st in the league.  It's obvious the Packer offense REALLY misses Jordy Nelson.

It also isn't helping that the Green Bay offensive line is giving up sacks in bunches, which means that Aaron Rodgers isn't getting time to find any open receives, when they aren't being blanketed by opposing defenses.

I don't know of any NFL quarterback that can throw TD passes while seated on the bench or tasting turf.  Meanwhile Washington is riding a four game winning streak coming into this game.  They went 6-3 down the stretch after their bye week,

Gotta go with team that's on a roll, and that's Washington.

And The 2015 NFL Prognostication Champion Is....

For the first time since 2012,  Moi!

Something else that's happened for the first time since 2012 is my Texans, after a 2-5 start and being written off for dead after the Dolphins spanked them 41-2, regrouped to go 7-2 down the stretch, win in Indianapolis for the first time in franchise history and take a surprise AFC South title.

Their reward is a playoff rematch at NRG Stadium against the same Kansas City Chiefs team that ruined their home opener 27-20.    Both teams are light years away from where they were back in September, and this time the game has higher stakes.

As or the prognosticarion contest, we started back on September 10 with Mike as the defending champ and attempting to become the first ever repeat champion.  He gave it a nice run, but 256 games and 17 weeks later it's Moni back on top.

As for our final NFL week 17 results, we all tied at 9-7.

2015 TransGriot NFL Picks- Week 17

Happy New Year NFL fans!   I'm taking the extra time to analyze this last regular season weekend of NFL games because all the games will be played tomorrow either at noon or 3 PM CST.

There's a lot on the line.  Division titles, playoff seedings, and even 2016 draft position for the teams that won't be playing additional January football.

And the 2015 NFL prognostication title is mine if I don't screw this final week of the season up.

One thing we know won't be happening is the Carolina Panthers playing for an unbeaten regular season after the Atlanta Falcons handed them their first loss.

The last week of the 2015 season is upon us.   Let's get to it.

2015 TransGriot NFL Picks- Week 16

APTOPIX Texans Colts Football
Merry Christmas!   Your present from the NFL is the last Thursday night matchup of the 2015 season and a Saturday game for the second consecutive week.

We in H-town got an early Christmas present from the Texans with the snapping of that 0 for Indianapolis streak with their 16-10 win against the Colts .  This was the first ever win as a franchise against the Colts after 13 straight losses in both the now demolished RCA Dome and Lucas Oil Stadium and ended a six game losing streak to the team we hate the most in the AFC South next to the Tennessee Traitors.

And I'm rooting for the Carolina Panthers to go perfect.  In addition to being the first NFC team with a chance to do so, Cam Newton has a chance to make some Black history as the first Black NFL quarterback to lead his team to an undefeated regular season.

Speaking of perfect, I came close to getting my perfect week, but missed on the Thursday night and Monday night games in Week 15 to end up with a still excellent 14-2 week and open up a lead on defending champ Mike with  two weeks to go.

Now I have to hold it.  So let's get busy doing just that.

2015 TransGriot NFL Picks-Week 15

Embedded image permalink

Ho Ho Ho!  I;m feeling merry since I finally caught Mike, and I'm in position to claim my first prognostication title since 2012

But we still have three weeks to go and from now on all of the games will have massive playoff seeding implications.  For the teams not in playoff contention, drafting positions are on the line.

Something else that is on the line for my fave NFL ballers is the AFC South title.   They are unfortunately on a two game losing streak, and go play the Colts in Indianapolis, a place where they have never won as a franchise.   Well, sooner or later they have to win a game in Indy, but will this be the year they do so?

Speaking of streaks, will the Panthers stay perfect?  After their game with the Giants, they face the fading Falcons and the  Buccaneers

And yeah, time for me to go on my late season kick to the title.

2015 TransGriot NFL Picks-Week 14

The Carolina  Panthers had to work for it, but they stayed unbeaten at 12-0 with their  41-38 shootout win over the New Orleans Saints, clinched the NFC South and kept their grip on the number one seed in the NFC playoff bracket.

Meanwhile I won't be getting a free Texans slush from Sonic this week as their four game winning streak came to an end in Buffalo.with a 30-21 loss to the Bills.

It won't get any easier for my hometown NFL ballers as the  6-6 Texans face a pissed off Brady and Company on national TV Sunday night at NRG Stadium.  The Patriots were upset at home by the Philadelphia Eagles 35-28 and have suffered a string of crucial injuries that have fueled their current losing streak.  But the Patriots haven't lost three games in a row since 2002 and have won five of six against the Texans including the playoffs.

That one win however came in Houston, and the Pats are banged up while the Texans are relatively healthy.  Fortunately the Colts lost too, but the Texans missed an opportunity to take control of the AFC South lead by failing to handle their NFL business in Buffalo.

As for our 2014 prognostication contest, for the second time this season, we all tied for top honors this week with 10-6 records because of the frustrating for me and Eli result of the Dallas-Washington game.  The late game heroics for the Cowboys forced the tie between us and helped Mike maintain his lead over moi with the regular season coming to a close soon.

Another week, and another opportunity to try to catch the defending champ before the 2015 NFL regular season ends.
