Instigator Of CeCe McDonald Case Sentenced

'Flaherty deserves jail time and a fine for causing bodily injury to CeCe, and the trans community should not rest or let this crap slide until CeCe gets some justice out of this fracked up situation, too instead of the heaping helpings of injustice she's had to deal with.'   TransGriot  December 10, 2012

This is the closing paragraph of the December 2012 post I wrote concerning CeCe McDonald's attacker Molly Shannon Flaherty in which I asked why were the authorities dragging their feet on the case and why was CeCe the only person doing serious jail time for standing her ground against a racist and transphobic attack aimed at her and her friend and involved a known white supremacist?.

Katrina Rose in her ENBAblog 2.0 post she wrote on December 10, 2012 as well gave us her theory into why the wheels of justice were possibly grinding so slowly in this Land of 10,000 Lakes case.

Anyone interested in wagering any money that the fine upstanding white, non-trans Molly McTransphobe (McRadphlegm, too?) Flaherty is probably a full-time lowlife who has some sort of informant/immunity deal with one or more prosecutorial authorities in the area?  Anyone interested in wagering any money on the possibility of it involving heavy-duty shit of great social and political import (read: victimless crime – probably taking notes on who sells a joint to whom in bars where people like the fine upstanding white, non-trans Molly McTransphobe (McRadphlegm, too?) Flaherty hang out?

Flaherty already had a criminal history and charges pending  from a previous March 2011 arrest before that fateful June 5, 2011 night at the Schooner Tavern.  She and her buddies decided to put the Black gay and transpeople in their place and it resulted in white supremacist Dean Schmitz's death.

The 41 year old Flaherty wasn't even arrested and charged until May 11 of last year, right about the time that loud cries were coming from around the country about the glaring fact the Black trans woman was the only one being charged and railroaded into jail for this incident.

Flaherty pleaded guilty on January 24 to third-degree assault in Washington County Court and was sentenced Thursday.  That's a felony that carries a maximum five year prison sentence.

Care to guess how much time she got for assaulting CeCe McDonald?    180 days in jail.  (Damn Kat, you called it.)

Nope, that's not a typo. The justice Just-us system at work again.  Flaherty got 180 days in jail for a third degree assault she instigated and for smashing a glass in CeCe face that created a cut taking 11 stitches to close  while CeCe is spending 41 months in jail for being BTWW (Black Trans While Walking) and having the audacity to stand her ground and defend herself.

CeCe Being Sentenced Today

The eyes of trans people around the world and our supporters will turn in the direction of the Hennepin County, MN Courthouse in a few hours as we find out how much jail time Cece McDonald will get.

As part of a plea deal, McDonald plead guilty May 2 to second degree manslaughter in the June 5, 2011 incident in which she and a group of TBLG friends were attacked by a group of white people outside a south Minneapolis bar and white supremacist Dean Schmitz died.

Until May 11, she was the only person in the incident charged, but now Molly Shannon Flaherty has been arrested and is being charged by Washington County prosecutors with second degree assault with a deadly weapon and third degree assault causing substantial bodily harm for smashing a glass in McDonald’s face during the fight.

Both charges are felonies that carry a maximum sentence of seven years and five years in prison.

Hennepin County Prosecutor Michael Freeman (D) is still trying to cover his behind, but nobody's buying it in light of the fact one of the people involved was a white supremacist and Cece and friends were the victims of a hate crime.

Speculation is that CeCe will be sentenced to time served plus good time already accumulated by the judge in this case and will only have to do 20 months.   There is lobbying occurring asking the judge to sentence her to home incarceration for that time instead of sending her to prison.

We'll see what happens at 1:30 PM CDT today.

CeCe McDonald's Trial Starts Today

CeCe McDonald's trial starts today in Minneapolis and is expected to last two weeks.

Her case has been getting increased publicity in the last few weeks but not enough to stave off this trial from happening or getting District Attorney Michael Freeman to drop the charges..

Now that it's happening, for those of you in the Minneapolis St Paul metro area, it might be a wonderful idea to pack the courtroom in support of CeCe

All we can do now is watch it, pray and hope that justice prevails.

CeCe's Case Going To Trial

Unfortunately it looks like the CeCe McDonald case is going to trail starting on April 30l.    District Attorney Michael Freeman has been reluctant to drop the charges in this case as he has done with other white cis people in the same situation for some reason..

Is it because it's an election year in Minnesota and he wants to look 'tough on crime' at CeCe's expense?  My inquiring mind wants to know.

For those of you in the Minneapolis-St Paul area or in driving distance of it you may wish to consider helping the local activists there pack to courtroom and show support for her and her family as this potential two week proceeding gets underway.

Here's the Support CeCe website for news about the case, links to the petition and other information to keep you apprised of how things are playing out in this situation.

As I find out here at TransGriot, I'll post it as well and for those of you that are spiritually inclined to do so, you may also wish to say some prayers for her as well.

Minnesota Rainbow Community 'Apologizes' To GOP Oppressor For Ruining Her Marriage

Hee hee hee.   Laughing my butt off about the letter that Minneapolis resident John Medeiros worte on behalf of the Minnesota rainbow community expressing regret for ruining homobigot Sen. Amy Koch's (R) marriage.

As Leader of the Minnesota Senate she pushed and voted for the amendment that will be on the ballot in a few months to ban same gender marriage.  She has resigned her position and is not running in 2012 for reelection after being caught in an 'inappropriate relationship'

Take it away, Mr. Medeiros..

Dear Ms. Koch,
On behalf of all gays and lesbians living in Minnesota, I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for our community’s successful efforts to threaten your traditional marriage. We are ashamed of ourselves for causing you to have what the media refers to as an “illicit affair” with your staffer, and we also extend our deepest apologies to him and to his wife. These recent events have made it quite clear that our gay and lesbian tactics have gone too far, affecting even the most respectful of our society.

We apologize that our selfish requests to marry those we love has cheapened and degraded traditional marriage so much that we caused you to stray from your own holy union for something more cheap and tawdry. And we are doubly remorseful in knowing that many will see this as a form of sexual harassment of a subordinate.

It is now clear to us that if we were not so self-focused and myopic, we would have been able to see that the time you wasted diligently writing legislation that would forever seal the definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman, could have been more usefully spent reshaping the legal definition of “adultery.”

Forgive us. As you know, we are not church-going people, so we are unable to fully appreciate that “gay marriage” is incompatible with Christian values, despite the fact that those values carry a biblical tradition of adultery such as yours. We applaud you for keeping that tradition going.
And finally, shame on us for thinking that marriage is a private affair, and that our marriage would have little impact on anyone’s family. We now see that marriage is more than that. It is an agreement with society. We should listen to the Minnesota Family Council when it tells us that marriage is about being public, which explains why marriages are public ceremonies. Never did we realize that it is exactly because of this societal agreement that the entire world is looking at you in shame and disappointment instead of minding its own business.
From the bottom of our hearts, we ask that you please accept our apology.

Thank you.
John Medeiros
Minneapolis, MN
.
Just one question.  Is the Minnesota Family Council going to push for the prosecution of Sen. Koch since adultery is punishable there by a year in jail or a $3000 fine?    After all, you say it is part of your 'Christian' duty to defend traditional marriage.   What say ye?

Umm hmm, that's what I thought

Minnesota Anti Gay Marriage Senator In Hypocritical Situation

As sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, you can count on a right wing homophobe to be caught in an embarrassing or hypocritical situation.

Former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (R), who pimped the anti-same gender marriage ban that will go up for a sure to be contentious vote in eleven months has a glass house of her own.

The state's first female Senate majority leader was caught in an 'inappropriate relationship' and resigned from her leadership position.

And oh yeah, Minnesota just happens to be one of the states in which adultery is punishable by a year in jail and a $3000 fine.

So, what say ye, Kat?  I know you have an opinion about this.

Hmm.  Wonder if the Minnesota culture warriors who pushed this hate on gay marriage amendment will now rush to 'defend marriage' and call for the prosecution of Senator Koch?

Somehow I doubt it..
