Piss Off An Evilgelical -Buy Some Girl Scout Cookies!

If you live for an opportunity to support an organization that supports our community and piss off the evilgelicals at the same time, a quick and easy way to do both is to find your local Girl Scout troop selling cookies in your area and buy few boxes.

The evilgelicals have been hating on the Girl Scouts since 2013 because unlike the Boy Scouts, the conservative movement was never able to get control of the org and inject their conservahate into it.

They also hate the Girl Scouts for being unapologetic supporters of human rights, and really have been going off the deep end about Girl Scout troops admitting trans feminine scouts into their ranks .

Their doomed to fail conservaboycott means there's more cookies for those of us who love them and who also want to support an organization that supports our community..

Trans Girl Scout Sells 3000 Cookies, Cue The Transphobic Haters

When nine year old trans Girl Scout Stormi started knocking on doors to sell those famous cookies in her Herrin, IL neighborhood, she was greeted by a transphobe who not only hurt her feelings, but motivated her to sell 3000 boxes of cookies.

Many of the people who bought Stormi's cookies did so online, and some of those cookie purchases came from the trans, bi and SGL community livid over the disrespectful treatment she received by the less than kind transphobe.

The bottom line is that trans feminine kids exist, and want nothing more than to live their childhoods and their lives as the girls they are.  Some of those trans feminine kids want to be Girl Scouts and the Girl Scouts USA policy is to welcome them into the fold.


As this story has been getting national attention, the transphobes are coming out to play as well in the comment threads in those stories.  It's mind boggling and despicable that these wastes of DNA can aim so much transphobic hatred at a nine year old trans girl.

But while I'm not surprised by it, I'm not having it either.  I, her trans elders and her allies will not allow transphobic vitriol aimed at our transkids from the ignorati cowering behind computer keyboards to go unchallenged.  You want to pick on somebody, aim it at somebody who will be more than willing and able to respond in kind.

And Stormi, if you still have some thin mints or Trefoils shortbread cookies boxes left, I want some.

Just Say Yo To Girl Scout Cookies!

One of the things that has really pissed me off about the Forces of Right Wing Intolerance  is their ongoing attacks on Girl Scouts because they are TBLG inclusive.

As you know, the conservafools never let facts get in the way of their outrage machine.  The conservahaters have been recently pimping the lie that GSUSA has been partnering with Planned Parenthood to promote abortions and urging their sheeple to boycott Girl Scout cookies when they go on sale.

Funny to note that Girl Scout Cookie sales have been increasing ever since the conservafool movement started this War on the Girl Scouts several years ago.

Good, y'all continue to be that petty and stupid and point that you only care about a fetus, the 1% super billionaires and not living breathing working class humans.  Leaves more cookies for me and the peeps who support GSUSA.

Trans community, time for us to support an organization that supports us.   Consider buying a few boxes of Girl Scout cookies this year as a delicious way to send a message against ignorance, misogyny, sexism. oppression and intolerance.

Girl Scouts Return Transphobe`s Donation, Get Paid

Over the last few years, the Girl Scouts of America have been standup allies for the trans community, and opened their doors so that trans girls can participate.

That support of trans feminine girls created a problem for the Western Washington Girl Scout council and its CEO Megan Ferland recently.

They received a $100K donation during their fundraising drive which was a quarter of their fundraising goal.  However, it came with a transphobic string attached.

In a letter she received five weeks later, the donor requested that none of the donated money be used to assist transgender girls, and if they couldn't guarantee that, the donor wanted their money returned.

Ferland knew because the parents chose to share that information, there are trans girls participating in some Western Washington area troops.  Even though that monetary gift would have allowed 200 fiscally challenged girls to attend summer camp, Ferland quickly returned the money and on June 29 launched a `Girl Scouts is #ForEVERYGirl  Indiegogo campaign with a YouTube video to accompany it in order to replace the funds they lost.

They recouped the money they lost in 24 hours and tripled it, raising $300K, and benefit all girls in the Western Washington area that will need some financial assistance in order to attend camp.

People also supported the campaign on social media, using the #ForEVERYGirl hashtag.

My congratulations to the Western Washington Girl Scouts, who demonstrated principled leadership,  returned a transphobic donation and were rewarded for it.

I sure would like to know who that transphobe is so they can receive the proper level of scorn they deserve..

But I;m definitely tripling my Girl Scout cookie order next year.

Louisiana Girl Scout Council Bans Trans Feminine Kids

One of the reasons I love the Girl Scouts USA is that they not only have an amazing organization that for over a century has excelled in developing the leadership skills of girls and young women, they have continued to do so while under continued conservafool assault.

The conservafools have hated on the Girl Scouts because unlike the Boy Scouts, they failed in their attempt to take them over.  Ever since them different conservative pundits and politicians have attacked them for their progressive stances.

They have even taken their off the charts hatred of the Girl Scouts to the extreme level of attacking the Girl Scouts annual cookie drives (which is why I buy mass quantities of them every year) to forming their own conservative alternative to Girl Scouts USA called the American Heritage Girls. 

Now that the conservative movement is shifting their energy and attention to attacking transgender people, the American Fascist Family Association on May 13 created a transphobic petition that gained the signatures of 38,000 people demanding the Girl Scouts USA rescind the policy allowing trans feminine participation in Girl Scouts.

The next day Girl Scouts USA put out a statement authored by Andrea Bastiani Archibald that reiterated their support for the trans inclusive policy.

"If a girl is recognized by her family, school and community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.\ Inclusion of transgender girls is handled at a council level on a case by case basis, with the welfare and best interests of all members as a top priority."

That local case by case basis part of the statement leaves a problematic loophole big enough to drive a Mack truck through it.   And as any marginalized group is keenly aware of, if you give transphobes an inch, they'll go the transphobic mile.

While I have yet to hear what the local Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (Houston area) stance is on transgender scouts, I'm aware of the Girl Scouts of Colorado supported a trans kid that wished to join one of their troops, and know the Kentuckiana Council just reaffirmed their support of the national policy, that wasn't the case of the Girl Scouts Louisiana East Council that covers Baton Rouge, New Orleans and the eastern parishes of the state.

The Girl Scouts Louisiana East Council since November 2011 has proudly had a policy in place barring trans feminine kids.

“We recognize that girls benefit most from a program designed specifically for them and delivered in an all-girl setting. We affirm that our council’s programming is for girls only, and has not been designed to meet the specific needs of boys or transgendered youth.”

They doubled down on it in the wake of the AFA attack on the National GSA with a transphobic dog whistle included in their May 20 memo claiming "the health and safety of our girls is our number one priority."
As Baton Rouge parent of a Brownie Mary Ellen Slayter told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, "I don't feel like the presence of a transgender child poses any threat to my daughter. We are talking about children here. If they're questioning their gender identity, I would want the Girl Scouts to be a safe place for them to explore that and be in the company of adults who could help them through that... These kids are far more likely to be harmed by other people than to cause harm."

Louisiana East Council, you may wish to join Ms. Slayter and the rest of us in the 21st century, and stop the problematic pimping of the lie that trans kids are a threat to cisgender girls.

Piss Off A Conservafool-Buy Girl Scout Cookies

The Conservafool War On Women includes not only attacking trans women, but also organizations that empower young women like the Girl Scouts.

They have not only said ugly and batturd crazy crap about the organization, but have tried to go after one of the funding streams of the organization in the annual Girl Scout cookie drive. 

So if you want to piss a conservafool off, now that it's Girl Scout cookie drive time, lets practice some intersectionality trans, bi and SGL community and buy a few extra boxes this year.    Even better, eat or share them in front of your wingnut co-workers to get even for the time they bought Chik-Fil-A  Bigot Fil A chicken biscuits or food to eat at your last office gathering. 

I could use a few boxes of Thin Mints myself..

Damn, Y'all Starting The 'War On The Girl Scouts' Again?

The conservative movement 'War On Women' for the last few years has also included because of their progressive outlook, attacking the Girl Scouts.

The fundies have foaming at the mouth hatred for Girl Scouts of the USA because it not only didn't get taken over by the wingers like they did the Boy Scouts, GSUSA has stated on its website the organization “does not have a relationship or partnership with Planned Parenthood,” and that it will remain a “secular organization” that will not take a position on human sexuality, birth control, abortion.

The faith-based haters not only have stopped organizing and supporting Girl Scout troops, in some cases they are denying them meeting spaces.  They have even gone as far as organizing their own conservative alternative organization called the AmeriKKKan American Heritage Girls.

They have also over the last few years attacked the Girl Scout cookie drives which are one of the funding streams for the organization. 

Thanks to longtime reader Jazmine for bringing to my attention another 'War On The Girl Scouts' attack to shine a bright spotlight on. 

This latest violation of the Ten Commandments comes from right wing pastor Kevin Swanson.   He urged his Generations Radio show listeners not to buy Girl Scout cookies because 'the organization promotes lesbianism' 

“I’d say you ought to say no to the Girl Scout cookies,” Swanson told listeners. “I don’t want to support lesbianism, I don’t want to support Planned Parenthood and I don’t want to support abortion, and if that be the case I’m not buying Girl Scout cookies.”

And if that fear and smear line wasn't enough to stir up the sheeple, Swanson called the Girl Scouts of the USA  ”a wicked organization,” that doesn’t promote “godly womanhood.”

He also attacked my mayor and threw the c-word in there:  Communist. 

And oh yeah, the commandment Pharisee Swanson violated was 'thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.'

Yeah, it's time to rebuke this fool in the name of Jesus by tripling your orders of Girl Scout cookies when the GSUSA cookie drives start in your area.

And yeah, he's earned a Shut Up Fool award nomination for this one.

Girl Scout Cookie Time 2013!

Remember last year's series of posts I wrote urging the trans community and the liberal progressive blogosphere to support an organization that stood up for us and was getting attacked by to conservafools for it?

The wingnuts tried and failed to go after the Girl Scouts annual cookie drive in 2012, and now that we are into the second week of the new year Girl Scout cookie time is upon us once again. 

I don't doubt for a millisecond that the conservafools will try that reprehensible tactic again.

There were 760 million boxes of cookies sold in 2011, 714 million sold in 2010 and I have yet to see what the numbers were for 2012.  The wingers will probably be deploying their conservahatred of the Girls Scout again, so we need to be ready to rebuke that bull feces when it starts.

You'll be seeing these beautiful young ladies hanging around your local area stores, so do those younglingss in the Girl Scout uniforms a favor and buy some cookies from them.  You'll not only be supporting a great organization now into its second century of service to all young women around the world, you'll also be support an organization that stood up for the trans community too.

There The Conservafools Go Again With The Girl Scout Smearing.

I have a lot of reasons to dislike conservafools, but one of the things that really aggravates me are the coordinated right wing attacks on the Girl Scouts that have led me to triple my usual order of cookies this year and I'm looking for more.  

The latest round of idiocy came from Indiana state rep Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) who refused to sign a resolution letter honoring the 100th anniversary of the founding of Girl Scouts thanking them "for the strong positive influence it has had on the American woman."   

In a letter to the Indiana Republifool legislative caucus published in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette Morris claims his opposition to the organization based on web-based research at  World Net Wingnut Daily, they are 'promoting homosexual lifestyles'.

Many parents are abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles. In fact, the Girl Scouts education seminar girls are directed to study the example of role models. Of the fifty role models listed, only three have a briefly-mentioned religious background – all the rest are feminists, lesbians, or Communists. World Net Daily, in a May 2009 article, states that Girl Scout Troops are no longer allowed to pray or sing traditional Christmas Carols.

Really?   What this is about is that you conservafools are still upset you never got control of the Girl Scouts and got the opportunity to turn them into the Conservafundie Youth like y'all did with the Boy Scouts and I thank God y'all didn't.

The fact the Girl Scouts support trans youth is a bonus as far as I'm concerned and I have much love and respect for the organization for standing up to the conservabullying and living up to the Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law..  

The more you conservafools attempt to smear the organization, in an attempt to force them to live your facts free conservative lifestyle, the more support the Girl Scouts get.    

That reminds me, think it's time to order some more Girl Scout cookies.  I'm fresh out of Thin Mints.

A Girl Scout Alum Speaks On The Trans Issue

The Girl Scout 2012 cookie drive is starting soon and hope you people who support Girl Scouts will buy mass quantities of cookies over the next few weeks.  

They are the polar opposites of the Boy Scouts and need to be rewarded for their principled stands.  The trans community definitely needs to support with our dollars the organizations like GSUSA who have stood tall for us. 

Cristan Williams sent me the link to this YouTube video composed by a self identified Girl Scout alum that is rebutting the transphobic ignorance of Taylor and the conservafool Dishonest Honest Girl Scouts org she was shilling for. 

Taylor was confirmed to be a scout in one of the councils of the Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast.

Hey Honest Dishonest Girl Scouts, looks like your transphobic call to boycott the GSUSA cookie drive is backfiring.  Instead of the boycott you hoped would punish the Girl Scots for not being as transphobic and intolerant as you desired them to be, you pissed off people instead who are motivated to make the 2012 cookie drive even more of a success.

You also did the Girl Scouts USA a favor.  You helped them blow up a misperception in some quarters of the liberal-progressive movement that GSUSA was intolerant like the Boy Scouts USA.

But as the Good Doctor says, the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.

Justice in this case would be a deliciously (pun intended) record setting year of cookie sales.
