Newtron Bomb Dropped In SC Primary

Newton Leroy Gingrich won the Republican primary in South Carolina by a double digit margin Saturday night over Gordon Gekko, Jr Mitt Romney,

It was a battle in the Palmetto State of Greed is Good vulture capitalism versus good old fashioned Southern Strategy 2.0 racist populism in which Newt at times along with Rick Santorum made you wonder if they were running for Grand Wizard of the KKK instead of vying for the Republican party presidential nomination .

Newt garnered 40.8% of the vote in South Carolina to become the third different GOP candidate to win a Republican primary contest and guarantee that Mitt Romney would not clinch the nomination before the end of the month.

Willard had already received the bad news earlier in the week that Rick Santorum won the Iowa caucus and everyone and their mama expected him to roll in his backyard primary in New Hampshire.

It's on to Florida and another Southern state with a sizeable electorate in which Mitt's vulture capitalism and Gordon Gekko wannabe persona probably won't play well with portions of the electorate.

We'll see on January 31.

South Carolina Primary Today

The voters in South Carolina are trooping to the polls today to determine who they think should be their presidential nominee out of the four occupants left in the Republifool KKKlown Car now that what passes for a moderate in the GOP John Huntsman and Rick 'Governor Goodhair' Perry have dropped out.

Adios mofo.  You should have left after you got your non-debating butt handed to you in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Ahem, back to the post.  Will it be that paragon of marriage fidelity Newton Leroy Gingrich?  He's been riding Southern Strategy 2.0 and frothing at the mouth GOP populism to the top of the polls here in South Carolina.  But will that lead translate into enough votes to get him a Palmetto State primary win?

Will it be 'Greed is Good' Gordon Gekko wannabe Willard Romney?    Willard has seen his once big lead and momentum from a presumed win in Iowa and a big one in his New Hampshire backyard crater under the pressure of Newt's attacks, two uninspired debate performances, more campaign trail gaffes and an oh by the way revelation that you didn't win the Iowa caucus.

Will it be Rick Santorum, the darling of the Religious Reich?   The official winner of the Iowa Caucuses is also pimping Southern Strategy 2.0 and thumping that conservabible in an attempt to get that second primary win.

And Ron Paul?  I could write a post about why I can't stand his racist libertarian behind, but we'll see how many votes he gets here.

Once the polls close and the votes of the GOP primary faithful are counted, it's off to Florida for their January 31 GOP primary.

Rev. Al On The RepubliKKKan Racial Politics

Rev. Al on PoliticsNation talking about the ugly Southern Strategy 2.0 crap coming out of South Carolina with Newt Gingrich at the center of it.

Georgia GOP Legislator Sponsoring Drug Testing Bill Fails One Himself

One of the other features of the GOP War on the Poor is to attempt to pass legislation that would force people to undergo drug testing before they can receive any public assistance.

In Georgia one of the six sponsors for Georgia House Bill 464, that state's version of that odious legislation is state Rep. John Andrew 'Kip' Smith (R-Columbus).

HB 464 if passed would force welfare recipients to submit to yearly random drug testing and anyone who failed the test would automatically be cut off from public assistance.

In response to HB 464, state Rep. Scott Holcomb (D-Atlanta) submitted one that would require state lawmakers to undergo random drug testing

Turns out that Rep. Smith got busted in Buckhead for DUI after being pulled over by an Atlanta police officer for running a red light.   The officer smelled alcohol after pulling him over and after initial refusal by Smith to submit to the Intoxymeter test relented.

Blowing into it resulted in a .091 reading, which is above the .08 limit in Georgia.   To compound his problem Smith failed the 'walk and turn' and one legged stand field sobriety tests.

After failing those tests he was placed under arrest and taken to the ATL Iron Bar Motel.  He later failed two more tests in which he blew a .099 and then a subsequent .100 reading.

I love what Think Progress commenter Savethecountry had to say about what his punishment should be for his DUI arrest.

Here's an idea for Kip's punishment. Instead of slapping him on his wrist by allowing him to complete some 30-day "Club Med" treatment program, let's make him live on what a typical Georgia welfare recipient receives, and let's make him do it for 30 days in Section 8 housing in a dilapidated, crime-ridden, economically depressed neighborhood with no car (entirely appropriate), an unscrupulous landlord and indifferent law enforcement. Dr. Drew couldn't offer a better shock to ol' Kip's system than making him at long last walk the walk. Hey, we could get Morgan Spurlock to film it for posterity.

Extreme hubris should be rewarded with extreme humility.

Karma is a witch sometimes isn't it GOP?

Does The GOP Voter Hate Women Or African-Americans?

Another cartoon that has too much truth in it.   I say both.

Why Rick Perry Didn't Want To Debate Bill White Last Year

One of the things I was perturbed about during last year's Texas governor's race was Rick Perry ducking and dodging former Houston mayor and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White's requests to set up debates.

Well, here's why 'Chicken Rick' didn't want to debate Bill White.  Bill White was a debater at Harvard, would have mopped the floor with Rick and would probably be sitting in the Governor's Mansion had he gotten that opportunity.

Peep this from last night's GOP debate.

Rick, looks like your 15 minutes on the GOP presidential candidate stage are about up

An hopefully in 2014 your time will be up as the governor of this state, too.
