Another Southern State, Another GOP Governor Building A Bridge To The Confederacy

There's another Republican governor who issued a proclamation celebrating Confederate History month and who conveniently forgot to mention slavery.

Why should it not surprise me it's Haley Barbour? His previous gig before he became governor of Mississippi was chair of the Republican Party.

It also doesn't surprise me since Mississippi was the second state to secede from the union in January 1861 and only ratified the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution abolishing slavery on March 16, 1995.

It even got a shout out in Dr. King's iconic 1963 'I Have A Dream ' speech.

'I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.'

By the way Confederacy defenders, before you come at me with bogus claims that 'The War To Perpetuate Slavery' wasn't about that, check out what the Mississippi Declaration Of Secession had to say about why the Magnolia State left the union.

"Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery — the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product, which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization."

Barbour helped campaign for now Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell last year, and said Sunday on CNN that slavery was bad but a fuss over McDonnell's original proclamation "doesn't amount to diddly."

It does to the African American residents inside and outside your state and the state of Virginia. The one you issued in Mississippi matters to me since I have relatives who were born there and still live in the Magnolia State.

If it doesn't mean diddly Haley, why did your office refuse to respond to a Monday request by the Associated Press for a copy of your 2010 Confederate Heritage Month proclamation that was freely faxed by the chaplain in chief for the national Sons of Confederate Veterans, The Rev. Cecil Fayard?

The proclamation, signed March 15, said it is "important for all Americans to reflect upon our nation's past to gain insight from our mistakes and successes."

Too bad Gov. Barbour, that you, many people in your ethnic group, and your party not only fail and refuse to reflect and gain insight on past mistakes, you continually fail to learn from them.

She's Baack! Tina Fey Skewers Caribou Barbie Again

Sarah Failin' has been all over the news and the country lately with her ditsy, folksy shtick that she hopes will propel her to the Republican presidential nomination and a new address at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in 2013.

Was perusing the Aunt Jemima's Revenge blog earlier today and I cracked up when I saw this video from last night's SNL show.

It's Tina Fey reprising her Emmy Award winning parody of a certain failed half term Alaskan governor pimping a Sarah Palin Network.

Shh. Don't give the chillbilly any ideas she's not capable of coming up with on her own.

In the meantime, you can peruse the blog Sarah Palin Truth Squad and The Mudflats for updated news about the Wild Alaskan Dingbat as Rep Alan Grayson (D-FL) calls her.

VA Governor Building A Bridge To The Confederacy

Bet you progressive voters in Virginia now wish y'all had gotten off your rotund behinds and voted last November.

Virginia Grand Dragon (oops Governor) Bob McDonnell (R) tried to quietly sign a proclamation at the behest of the Sons of Confederate Veterans designating April as Confederate History Month in the state for the first time since 2001.

The two previous Democratic governors declined to do so citing the divisive nature of this issue and the fact there is a sizable African-American population in the Cradle of the Confederacy.

The Virginia state capital of Richmond served as the capital of the Confederacy and numerous Civil War battles were fought in the state.

The proclamation states that “it is important for all Virginians to reflect upon our commonwealth’s shared history, to understand the sacrifices of the Confederate leaders, soldiers and citizens during the period of the Civil War, and to recognize how our history has led to our present.“

Reflect on this, Bob.

'Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery -- subordination to the superior race -- is his natural and normal condition. [Applause.] This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.'

Confederate VP Alexander Stephens March 21, 1861 'Cornerstone Speech' Savannah, GA

But it's interesting to note McDonnell's proclamation didn't mention the S-word that was the primary reason why the Civil War jumped off in the first place.

Slavery.

McDonnell said that he was not 'focused' on that part of the state's past. He said people can learn more about Civil War history in Virginia and pointed to next year's sesquicentennial of the beginning of the Civil War."

But I and other African-Americans who do and don't reside in your state are.

As someone who has a maternal ancestor who arrived in New Orleans in chains in 1810, obviously I have no love for the Confederacy and I'm glad they were defeated.

But I'm beyond sick and tired as a child and godchild of historians of seeing Confederate apologists try to obfuscate and spin their way out of the fact that their Confederate ancestors were traitors who started an armed insurrection against the US Government.

In addition, their ancestors fought and died in a bloody war to continue an economic system that not only enslaved my ancestors, but was keeping them poor.

Keep building that bridge to the Confederacy, Bob. With your efforts to end civil rights coverage for GLBT people in Virginia and now this boneheaded move, you'll make it much easier for neighboring states in the area to snatch away jobs and tourists from you.

But it seems like the only people you want in the state are rebel flag waving apologists for the War to Perpetuate Slavery.

Teabaggers Losing Their Damned Minds

Not that many of them had much of one to lose to begin with, but the teabaggers are now resorting to the T word to express their racist Republistoked anger at the passage of health care reform.

Terrorism.

Let's call these people what they are and what Rep. Bart Stupak rightfully called them. Domestic terrorists.

I don't like and have zero tolerance or respect for the Tea Klux Klan, especially after last weekend's disgusting display protesting a bill that will prevent the insurance companies from denying them coverage due to a nebulous list of preexisting conditions.

The Tea Klux Klan is 75% Republican and monoracial. It's an Astroturfed movement that claims it's not racist, but hurl racist and homophobic slurs at African-American, Latino/a, Jewish and gay legislators. Your protest rallies are monoracial affairs filled with racist signs showing your breathtaking levels of miseducation to the world.

And note to Dale Robertson, founder of the teabaggers, 'nigger' is not spelled with an 'a' in it.

What we have is the spectacle of white people behaving badly, just like their pointed hood wearing, Confederate flag waving parents and grandparents did the last time we engaged in passing ground breaking progressive legislation in the 60's.

Nullification didn't work then, and it won't work in the 2K10's.

Turn off the Fox Noise, right wing talk radio and read a fracking book that's not penned by Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin or Rush Limbaugh.

As Parliament-Funkadelic once sang, free your mind and your ass will follow. But if you want to follow the GOP off the cliff of irrelevance, be our guests.

But we're putting you peeps on notice that we're going to fight harder for our vision of an America that works for everybody who lives here. We are not going to allow large numbers of stupid people to vote us back to the 19th century.

Not this time, in 2012, 2014, not ever.

Been there, done that.

Negro Republican Calls President 'Buckwheat'

Yeah, I know it would be desirable to have more African descended people involved in both parties, but what's the point of that exercise if they're going to mimic the oppressors behavior?

Corey Poitier is running for US Rep. Kendrick Meek's House seat in Florida since Meek is running for the US Senate.

The high school civics teacher delivered a passionate speech against the health care reform bill Monday night to Broward County Republicans. During the speech, Poitier addressed the President by saying “Listen up, Buckwheat…”

Aargh, another Negro GOP sellout is born.

That might gain Poitier GOP fans, but not in a district that is 57% African American and 9 out of 10 peeps voted for the man he just disrespected with the comment.

And it begs the question I asked at the beginning of this post. What's the point in having Black peeps in the GOP if all they are going to do is be chocolate covered sycophants spouting the same tired conservative talking points we overwhelmingly reject when white candidates spout them?

Reagan On The $50 Bill? Hell No!

Once again our conservafools are trying to memorialize the late Ronald Reagan, and their feverish attempts to do so before his 100th birthday in 2011 are becoming more irritating.

A proposal to put him on Mt. Rushmore was laughed out of existence, and he already has his name attached to Washington National Airport (which I still refuse to call Reagan National), an aircraft carrier and one of the largest federal buildings in DC.

Personally I'd put JFK or FDR on there before Reagan.

In addition to the conservaplanning for a yearlong 100th anniversary birthday celebration, efforts are underway in California and Nevada to name mountains after Reagan. I can guarantee you that those 2011 celebrations of his birthday won't see anything but Black sellout faces at them.

Now Congressman Patrick McHenry (R-NC) wants to put Ronald Reagan's face on the 50 dollar bill.

He has introduced legislation which would redesign the 50 dollar bill to replace President Ulysses Grant with Reagan. McHenry's rationale for it is claiming every generation needs heroes and it is time to honor President Reagan by placing him beside Presidents Roosevelt and Kennedy.

He may be yours and white conservative America's hero, but as an African-American, I have no love for Reagan's racist behind. That distaste for Reagan was cemented when he made that infamous 1980 'I believe in state's rights' speech during his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, MS.

McHenry goes on to say Reagan transformed our nation's political and economic thinking.

Damned sure did, for the worst. Do the words 'voodoo economics', 'trickle down economics' and 'trillion dollar deficit' ring a bell?

The bill has been sent to the House Financial Services Committee, and Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) isn't ready to jettison Grant for "someone whose policies are still controversial."

"Our currency ought to be something that unites us." said Rep. Sherman.

Neither are the people who still admire Grant for helping to win the Civil War

Thus isn't the first time the GOP has tried to stick Reagan's face on our currency. When they had control of Congress, in 2005 they tried to put Reagan on the $50, but the bill never made it out of the House Financial Services Committee.

They attempted to replace Franklin D. Roosevelt with Reagan on the dime, but Democrats rose up and nixed that proposal.

A proposal to put Reagan's mug on the $20 bill drew objections from Tennessee lawmakers who didn't want Andrew Jackson removed from it.

In a letter to his congressional colleagues, McHenry wrote, "President Reagan is indisputably one of the most transformative presidents of the 20th century. Like President Roosevelt on the dime and President Kennedy on the half dollar, President Reagan deserves a place of honor on our nation's currency."

No, he doesn't. Rep. McHenry. Vanilla flavored peeps that share your political philosophy may believe that nonsense, but much of the American public doesn't share the same warm and fuzzy feeling about Ronald Wilson Reagan as you do.

I and many people saw his 'transformative presidency' in the 80's as a less than pleasant time in which the United States became more mean-spirited, more bellicose, more racist, and more divided politically and socially.

So no, definitely don't want Reagan's mug on Mt. Rushmore, much less any US currency.

Miss Me Yet? Hell Naw!

This billboard is greeting passengers traveling along Interstate 35 near Wyoming, MN.

The people who paid for it are wishing to remain anonymous, but I have an answer to the question posed on the billboard.

Hell naw I don't miss Bush.

I'm proud to say I never fell for the 'compassionate conservatism' okey doke. I never voted for him as Texas governor nor for the presidency.

His disastrous stints as Texas governor and president proved many times over the wisdom of me voting for his opponents, and I'm glad the worst president ever is back in suburban Dallas.

Teabaggers, You Owe Great Britain A Lot Of Money!

TransGriot Note: I have no love for the racist white wing Teabagger movement. Saw this interesting post from Maura Hennessey which points out that if the Teabaggers continue to claim they are the heirs of the peeps who conducted the original 1774 Tea Party in Boston, there may be potential legal and fiscal consequences.

Teabaggers, you owe Her Majesty's Government a lot of money

Dear Teabaggers,
As a former counsel attached to the Chancellor's office, and having once represented the parent company of Messers Davison, Newman and Company, Ltd, I feel that it is my duty to my clients to bring to your attention the following facts:

You claim to be the legal heirs, as well as the moral heirs, to a group of gentlemen who illegally trespassed upon the merchant ship Fortune, a brigantine then commanded by Benjamin Gorsham, Master and carrying a mixed cargo, including Twenty Eight Teak Chests containing Tea, the lot consigned to Mr Henry Lloyd of Boston Massachusetts, a merchant.

These gentlemen committed the following illegal act on the Seventh of March, the 1774th year of the Common Era and the Thirteenth Year of the Reign of HRM King George III of happy memory, to wit: They did trespass upon Fortune, breaking into the hold, and brought the tea onto the decks where they broke the chests and spilled them into the Charles River.

Of this shipment, Sixteen Chests were the property of Davison, Newman & Co, Tea Merchants and Importers, London. Said Sixteen Chests and their Contents were insured by Messers Peregrine Cust, James Bradley, Charles Harris, Robert Thornton and William Greenwood who wrote a policy with themselves holding the Risk at Lloyds signed and effective upon the Twenty Third of December in the year 1773.

Messers Cust, Bradeley paid to the policy holders Messers Davison, Newman & Co the sum of Four Hundred Eighty Pounds Sterling, the agreed and insured value of the Sixteen Teak Chests and their Contents.

Messers Cust, Bradley et al did therefore petition His Royal Majesty for relief, successfully, with His Majesty's Government covering the expenses and levying a tax to recover said expenditures upon the responsible individuals.

Owing to the subsequent unpleasantness in the Americas between 1775 and 1783, this amount was not reimbursed in spite of it being legally levied in response of the willful destruction of private property.

Therefore, the responsibility for the payment of said amount devolves upon the legal heirs and assigns of said perpetrators, which you freely claim to be.

Said legal heirs currently include Ms Sarah Palin, Mr Glenn Beck and the membership of an Organisation known as "Tea Party Patriots"

On behalf of the Government of Her Royal Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, etc, the successor to the Government of His Late Royal Majesty George the Third, I petition and demand that the owed sum of Four Hundred Eighty Pounds Sterling, legally levied in the Year 1774 be paid with suitable interest, said sum in current monetary value now being the equivalent of $8,924,601,649.92 reckoned at six percent per annum.

I remain your Obedient Servant,
Maureen Eileen Hennessey, Q.C.
On behalf of Her Majesty's Government

Condoleezza For The New Millenium Is Running For Congress

My first Saturday Sellout piece was about Angela McGlowan, the Faux News conservanegroid spokesmodel who is called on when they need cover to attack Black people in general or the First Lady.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen much of her lately on the GOP Propaganda Network and now I know why.

To top off a bad week for liberal-progressive folks, I read over at Jack and Jill Politics that Miss Right Wing Thang had some meetings up on Capitol Hill with the NRCC and various Repugnican congressmemebers.

That's right, Angela is coming to a congressional district near you. To be precise, she's going back home to the Magnolia State to run for Congress in Mississippi's 1st Congressional district.

The 1st Congressional District stretches across the northern-northeastern corner of the state. It was formerly held by now Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) from 1995-2007 until he was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour (R) to fill the remainder of Trent Lott's senate term after he resigned on December 18, 2007.

Democrat Travis Childers now holds that seat, and the Repugs are going after him.

There are already two people running in the Republican primary, so Angela's going to see if she can parlay her Fox face time, Ole Miss education, her time working in Sen. Jon Ensign's (R-NV) office (yes, that John Ensign) and beauty pageant good looks into a Congressional seat.

Michael Steele and his GOP minders would probably love for McGlowan to win the primary and be the one challenging Childers in the fall so they can trumpet how 'diverse' they are.

If you're parroting the same bull white male Republicans have been spouting for decades, putting it in a pretty package won't change the fact I and other African Americans ain't voting for your Oreo cookie chomping behind.

We're a lot more politically savvy than you give us credit for, but it'll probably work on the folks she helped bamboozle every day on Faux News.

As for Angela, ugh. What a waste. Another one working for the Dark Side of the Political force.

Since I have relatives in Mississippi, I'll definitely be paying attention to how this plays out.

And oh yeah Angela, the Field Negro is still awaiting a response to the invitation to debate him you keep ducking.

When You Republicans Start Consistently Doing Things For The African-American Community, Only Then Will We Cut Y'all Some Slack On Race Gaffes

The GOP is up in arms because of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) foot in mouth moment that recently came to light thanks to the recently published book 'Game Change'. During the 2008 campaign he's allegedly quoted as saying that it was an advantage for for then candidate Obama to be a 'light skinned Black with no Negro dialect'

Sen. Reid quickly apologized for it, the president accepted the apology along with other African-American political and thought leaders.

"While there is no question that Senator Reid did not select the best word choice in this instance, these comments should not distract America from its continued focus on securing healthcare or creating jobs for its people," Sharpton said.

Congressional Black Caucus Chair Barbara Lee (D-CA) stated, 'But while there is "a deep unease about race which cannot be swept under the rug, Reid's public actions speak louder than words."

"Over the years, I have had an opportunity to work with Majority Leader Reid. Senator Reid's record provides a stark contrast to actions of Republicans to block legislation that would benefit poor and minority communities," she said, citing health care reform as one example. "I look forward to Senator Reid continuing to serve as Majority Leader to guide this important agenda through the Senate."

Michael Steele and friends immediately screamed foul and demanded Sen. Reid's resignation as Senate Majority leader, claiming a dubious 'double standard' on race when it comes to Republicans versus Democrats on race issues.

There's a double standard alright, and it's one the Democrats have earned thanks to forty plus years of fighting for and passing legislation that helps my community.

The Republican whining is especially acute in light of the resignation of Trent Lott (R-MS) from his majority leadership position after making racially insensitive remarks in 2002. He stated at then-Senator Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday celebration if Thurmond's 1948 pro-segregation presidential bid had been successful, the country would have been better off.

There's light years of difference in the two situations that anyone with functioning brain cells can see. Sen. Harry Reid doesn't have the long history of working with white supremacist groups and negative NAACP Congressional Report Card ratings (F by the way) that former Senator Trent Lott had.

Unlike Sen. Trent Lott, who spent his career along with his party fighting legislation that would help African-Americans, Reid has been on the other side of the issues fighting to pass them. and has the A rating from the NAACP to prove it.

The Republicans can stop whining because they have caused and continue to exacerbate their problems with race that feed the false 'double standard' they complain about in the first place.

I don't see Democrats actively working to suppress voter turnout in African American communities, advocating tax policies that only benefit their well heeled supporters, and being openly hostile to advancing civil rights legislation.

When they stop acting like the party of George Lincoln Rockwell and build up a history in this century of tirelessly working on issues that will benefit African-Americans and other working class Americans, and have done so for 40 plus years, then and only then will African Americans consider giving them a pass when they make mistakes on race issues.

Mike Huckabee's Potential 'Willie Horton'

If former Arkansas governor and Faux News show host Mike Huckabee runs for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, get ready to see the picture of this gentleman in a lot of political attack ads directed at him.

This is Maurice Clemmons, who has a long criminal record. At age 17 he was convicted of aggravated robbery in 1989 and sentenced in Little Rock, AR to 95 years in prison.

During his term as governor of Arkansas Huckabee commuted his sentence, which resulted in Clemmons 2000 parole. Clemmons subsequently violated his parole, was sent back to prison and released in 2004.

Huck caught a lot of flak during the 2008 GOP nomination race because in GOP eyes he issued too many clemencies and commutations. He cited Clemmons' age at the time as a reason for doing so.

Why this is blowing up is because of the ambush deaths of four police officers in a suburban Seattle coffee shop Saturday.

If it turns out Clemmons is the person responsible for the deaths of Lakewood police Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39, and Officers Ronald Owens, 37, Tina Griswold, 40, and Greg Richards, 42, Huckabee's gonna have some problems with the 'law and order lock 'em up and throw away the key' side of the GOP base.

Huck's already trying to do damage control on the developing story now by playing the blame game.

"Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state."

Yep, and one of those failures is one you are responsible for.

Stay tuned to this developing story that many of us will be watching, especially Mike Huckabee.

GOP Plays Itself

There's an old saying in the African American community. If you dig a grave for someone, better dig one for yourself.

In the conservative zeal to attack and destroy ACORN, the GOP has deliciously done just that.

The GOP written congressional legislation intended to defund ACORN is written so broadly that it applies to "any organization" that has been charged with breaking federal or state election laws, lobbying disclosure laws, campaign finance laws or filing fraudulent paperwork with any federal or state agency. It also applies to any of the employees, contractors or other folks affiliated with a group charged with any of those things.

Translation: The bill they passed has the potential to defund their allies in the entire military-industrial complex.

Freshman Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) noted the arrogant and boneheaded GOP sponsored legislative overreach. He asked the Project on Government Oversight (POGO) to check its database and find our which defense contractors might be caught up in the same tangled web the GOP weaved to ensnare ACORN with.

Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman both popped up quickly on POGO's list with 77 fraud cases between them since 1995.

Rep. Grayson is also seeking help from you intrepid fraud busters to find more examples of organizations committing fraud against the federal government.

The GOP also played themselves and filed the bill as a "motion to recommit" in the House, where it passed 345-75. Constitutional expert Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) noted that The Defund ACORN Act appears to be a 'bill of attainder'.

In other words, if it specifically targets a company, organization or individual, it is banned by the Constitution. Reps. John Conyers (D-MI) and Barney Frank (D-MA) sent a letter to the Congressional Research Service asking it to clarify if in fact the Defund ACORN Act is constitutional.

If it's ruled the bill doesn't specifically target ACORN, then Northrop Grumman and a host of other companies are in big time danger of losing their federal funding as well.

Hey, that's what you GOPers get for sending people to Washington who don't read the Constitution, but instead run roughshod over it.

It would serve the Rethuglicans right for starting this BS in the first place.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-GOP Stuck On Stupid Edition

Before we get started, since today is the anniversary of the 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attack, let's take a moment to remember the people lost to that heinous crime.

Today is September 11, and once again we take time out of our week to scour the news cycle to expose the fools in our midst.

As our Shut Up Fool Awards mascot Mr. T constantly reminds us, fools are everywhere.

Doesn't it seem like there's been a bumper crop of them in the Republican Party and the conservative movement lately?

There were many worthy fools this week. Our usual triumvirate of Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, FOX 'news', Sarah Palin, the 'birthers' and Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH).

But the landslide winner this week is Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC)

This fool shouted 'You Lie' while interrupting President Obama's prime time health care speech. Then when he got lambasted for it issued a half-assed apology.

It's not the first time Wilson has exhibited signs of foot in mouth disease.

This is not the first time the Wilson has stirred controversy with his remarks.

In 2004, Wilson challenged the patriotism of Rep. Bob Finer (D-CA) by calling him “viscerally anti-American.” and was forced to walk-back his statement.

Later that year Wilson called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for testimony the Democratic presidential candidate and Vietnam veteran gave to a Senate panel in 1971 about the Vietnam War.

“Many veterans, including myself as a veteran,” Wilson said at the time, “view John Kerry's testimony that day as one of the worst public slanders ever against the valor and character of the American military.”

That statement drew the rebuke of former Democratic senator and Vietnam veteran Max Cleland, who noted that Wilson had in fact avoided fighting in the war by receiving a student deferral.

In addition, Wilson was a staunch defender of embattled former Republican Minority Leader Tom DeLay throughout his political and legal travails.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) said about the disrespectful outburst, “Joe Wilson took our state's reputation to a new low. I thought Mark Sanford had taken it as low as it could go, but this is beyond the pale."

Rep. Clyburn, I concur with your assessment.

Rep. Joe Wilson, shut up fool!

No, No, No GOP Version

TransGriot Note: Time for another song rewrite. The President is making his big joint congressional health care speech tonight and the GOP has been off the deep end in opposing health care reform.

So you know what that means. Tome to skewer them again.

Break out those iPods and sing along to the remixed lyrics.

"No, No, No GOP Version

Sung to the tune of 'No, No. No Pt 1' by Destiny's Child

The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

Y'all don't want health care
I can see it in your eyes
But you keep on frontin'
That you want to compromise
Cause when you're on the TV
You're giving me false signs
But when I ask you what's the deal
You lie lie lie lie lie
You don't want my votes
So let's keep it real
Obama hatreds goin' on
And that's the fracking deal
The don't want the prez
To succeed like I do
Conservatism doesn't work
Is that crystal clear to you?

The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

If you keep actin' this way
You're gonna lose more votes
Tired of GOP obstructions
2010 please hurry up
You had your time and screwed around
Messed up the USA
You have no policy solutions
Nothing positive to say
Your birthers and your deathers
Think they are so sly
They got mental problems
Aren't rational like I
America sees right through you
We know that you are slime
You're a bunch of racists
That are running out of time

The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

You can't say yes
Without regret
I must confess, your party's a zoo
Your time has come and gone
Reagan's not here boo, for you
Time for Democrats to have their say
And clean up the GOP mess today
You've screwed working people long enough and it's true
Don't wanna hear no (nooo)
Baby time to hear yes (yeees)
Tell me yes, Don't tell me (noo)

The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
The GOP says no, no, no, no, no
The country's saying yes, yes, yes, yes, yes
[Chorus until end]

Shut Up Fool! Awards-The Ted Kennedy Memorial Edition

Edward Moore Kennedy, the Liberal Lion Of The Senate has succumbed to a year long battle with brain cancer. In the midst of mourning his loss, we remember his remarkable political career and life.

Rest well Teddy, you've earned it. Time for you to join John, Bobby, Martin and Coretta.

But there will be no rest for the fool or fools we expose on a weekly basis.

As our Shut Up Fool! Awards mascot constantly reminds us, fools are everywhere.

And to think when I started this feature I was worried I wouldn't have enough of them to give out a weekly award.

While there were many worthy contenders as always including the usual suspects of Beck, Bachmann, Coulter, Limbaugh and Hannity, I have to give this week's award to Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS).

While at a town hall meeting she told the folks assembled there that the GOP still had to find a "great white hope."

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," said Jenkins. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."

As examples, Jenkins mentioned Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).

Yo Lynn, guess you didn't read the GOP memo that you aren't supposed to say aloud what your party's strategy is for 2010 and 2012.

Do stiff arm salutes, yell 'White Power' and court the neo-Confederate and batshit crazy sheeple vote.

Rep. Lynn Jenkins, shut up fool!

Everyday Sheeple

TransGriot Note: It's time for another one of my infamous song rewrites. This one is dedicated to all the hoodwinked and bamboozled batshit crazy people who support the birthers, deathers, and use Fox News and right-wing talk radio as their primary news source.

Everyday Sheeple
Sung to the tune of People Everyday by Arrested Development

I remember the night that is long gone
"Obama won!" we screamed in an excited tone
The celebrations went on all night
And the whole planet thought it was really hype
Outta nowhere comes the GOP hating
Lies, demonstrations and obfuscating

But nevertheless I was pleased
Barack's inaugurated and my soul's at ease
Until a group of birthers started bugging out
Drinking the Kool Aid, going the Klansman route
Saying crap that was really mean
Doing tea bagging with signs obscene

I ignored them cause see I know their type
They're racist, got guns and they're mainly white
They see a Black Democrat trying to do some good
Some of them tryin' to test Obama's manhood

Obama was born in Honolulu
His daddy being from Kenya makes them swear [Damn!]
He's in the White House and they're having fits
And his birth certificate they be dissing it
Pray they come to their senses eventually
But they demand to see parts of his anatomy
Why, Lord, do conservatives hate our country?
All we want is for it to be strong and free

Chorus:
They are everyday sheeple
They are everyday sheeple

Told the sheeple, get your news from CNN
And stop denying that he is a citizen
But they won't stop watching the Fox News
And the birthers and deathers are even more crude

At this point I was mad by then
It's sad these peeps listen to Rush, Lou and Glenn
But that's the story y'all of Republicans
Mad because they lost to an African

Chorus
They are everyday sheeple
They are everyday sheeple

Say Hello To Justice Sotomayor

When the Supreme Court kicks off it's fall term in October, it will be another historic moment for our country.

For the first time in our country's history, the Supreme Court photo will include a Latina justice.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor was just confirmed confirmed by the Senate moments ago on a 68-31 mostly party line vote as our 111th associate justice of the Supreme Court.

Only nine Republicans voted for her such as Mel Martinez of Florida.

This is a great day not only for Latino Americans but all Americans. Congratulations to Justice Sotomayor who will be sworn in Saturday by Chief Justice John Roberts as our third female justice and third* non-white justice.

Clarence Thomas is a BINO-Black in Name Only. Now can we get a sistah on the Court to counteract Clarence Thomas' self-hating bullcrap?

When she finally joins the court this October she'll be the only justice who wa a prosecutor, has trial court experience, and 17 years experience at two levels of the federal court system.

Guess What Shade The Anti-Health Care Peeps Are Throwing Now?

The health care industry, the GOP, their lobbying groups and shills have thrown $130 million dollars and counting into the battle to kill health care reform.

They have tried to scare seniors by claiming health care is a plot to kill our senior citizens. They have distorted, delayed and now organized mobs similar to the the 2000 'Brooks Brothers Riots' that shut down the Bush-Gore recount in Miami-Dade County with the express goal of shutting down discussions at Democratic congressional legislators town hall meetings.

I was wondering how long it would take for the Forces of Intolerance and their corporate paymasters to use transpeople for one of their classic tried and true tactics to oppose reforms.

The Greed Over People party have joined in the effort to scare and bamboozle the stupid Faux News watching sheeple into opposing health care reform that benefits them all in the name of protecting their windfall profits:.

No sooner had that thought crossed my mind than when I flipped on the computer and read Autumn Sandeen's post at Pam's House Blend about her name being dragged through the muck of the health care debate by conservafool Peter LaBarbera.

Folks, you don't have to be very politically sophisticated to predict that GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) activists and their liberal allies are going to demand "Tranny-Care" under a federal health insurance system, in the name of "fairness" and "inclusion" - even if it's not passed initially as a "benefit." And yes, the idea of subsidizing body-disfiguring "operations" surely would be considered "queer" by the average tax-paying American. Already, trans activists are strategizing on the best ways to get taxpayers to pay for their gender-confused mutilations "sex change" procedures -- and Human Rights Campaign and other homosexual lobby groups boast of their support for same in cities like San Francisco.

Okay peeps, if y'all want affordable health care in our lifetimes, it's past time to fight these bastards tooth and nail.

Happy Birthday President Obama!

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday Mr. President
Happy birthday to you!

Today is the 48th birthday of President Barack Hussein Obama, who those of us in the reality based world know was born in Honolulu, Hawaii USA on this date in 1961.

So it wasn't a surprise when over the weekend a so-called 'Kenyan Birth Certificate' dated March 1964 was produced by the wacko 'birthers' that claimed the president was born in Mombasa, Kenya.

Only one problem. Mombasa was part of Zanzibar in 1961.

The other glaring errors apparent to anyone who passed a history class is that Kenya didn't become an independent nation until December 1963 and didn't call itself the Republic of Kenya until late 1964.

E.L Lavender, the alleged name of the registrar is from the name of a laundry detergent, and it gets wrong the ages of President Obama's parents.

And oh yeah, wasn't the prez's mother a student at the University of Hawaii at the time?

Yeah, this birth certificate is about as authentic as a Fox News broadcast and the rapidly declining credibility of Lou Dobbs.

To you racist birthers, you have an intelligent Black president who is doing more in six months on the job than your boy George Walker Bush did in eight disastrous years.

And oh yeah, y'all hate the fact President 44 garnered more votes than any president in US history and won a decisive victory in doing so.

You sheet-wearing Google illiterate paranoid delusional clowns lost big on November 4. The country resoundingly rejected your failed political philosophy at the ballot box and is saying no to mean-spirited racist conservatism.

Deal with it.

Happy birthday Mr. President. May you have many more.
