Lie, Lie, Lie, Lie, Lie, Lie!

Back in the 90's there was a comedian by the name of TP Hearn who used to make people laugh with his rapid fire repetition of the word 'lie' when he talked about many jacked up life situations in his hilarious routines.

That lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie routine comes to mind every time I see a GOP politician these days flapping his or her gums.

It seems like the GOP know nothings have just made the decision that since they have nothing constructive to offer or their own plans, combined with a\severe case of Fear of a Black President, they'll just destroy the onea the Democrats have come up with by any means necessary.

It also seems that they've made up their minds they'll just say anything to accomplish that goal.

Even if it isn't the truth.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-GOP Lying About Health Care Edition

The GOP Noise Machine is in full throat in its all out attempt to kill the Obama health care plan. The greedy HMO's and insurance companies like the current setup and want to keep making obscene profits.

It's disgusting that the United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn't have universal single payer health care for its citizens.

The rest of the world looks at this circus and wonders aloud how the American people allows this travesty to continue. Well, that what happens when 20% of the country is tuned in to a propaganda network and the Republican Party and their cronies are willing to lie to keep it from happening.

All we can do is keep fighting to ensure that one day we join the rest of the world in providing low cost health care for all its citizens.

Speaking of health care, there were fools that were worthy of being carted off to psychiatric care or made you wonder if they're still hitting the hallucinogenic drugs too hard.

While there were many fools who could have garnered our award such as Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), the Birthers, PETA, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, and the Republican Party, our Fool of the Week is sellout spokesnegro Larry Elder.

Elder distinguished himself in the ongoing conversation around the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates by not only blaming the professor for what happened to him in his own home, but blamed the controversy on in his words 'irresponsible Blacks'.

The only 'irresponsible Blacks' here are you and your Oreo cookie chomping buddies.

In you conservanegroes zeal to defend the po-po's, you neglected or didn't care to to acknowledge that the African-American community's drama with the police didn't arise in a vacuum.

It is rooted in decades of violent confrontations that have resulted in our untimely deaths. There is also systemic racism in many police departments and the historic fact they were used as the stormtroopers enforcing Jim Crow segregation and white privilege.

Larry Elder, shut up fool!

Bye Sarah!

Sarah Palin said goodbye to the Alaska governor's chair yesterday, but unfortunately we haven't seen the last of Tina Fey's walking comedy routine.

For some reason she and a delusional part of the American electorate seem to think that she's presidential material. And when these same voters think Junior did a 'heck of a job' for the last 8 dysfunctional years, I have every expectation of seeing her trolling for GOP votes in Iowa and New Hampshire in 2012.

There's only one part of her rambling disjointed speech I agreed with believe it or not.

And first, some straight talk for some, just some in the media because another right protected for all of us is freedom of the press, and you all have such important jobs reporting facts and informing the electorate, and exerting power to influence. You represent what could and should be a respected honest profession that could and should be the cornerstone of our democracy. Democracy depends on you, and that is why, that's why our troops are willing to die for you. So, how 'bout in honor of the American soldier, ya quite makin' things up.

Yo Sarah, sounds to me like you were talking about your friends at Faux News.

While we wish Sarah the Quitter would just head back to Wasilla, not likely.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Moni's Computer's Down Edition

As some of you are aware, the motherboard on my computer died last Friday. I've been suffering from computer withdrawal and lack of interconnectedness with the Net.

I've also missed the everyday conversations and interactions I have with various people on the blog, Twitter and friends around the world.

My computer tech Polar is working to get me back online as quickly as possible. In the interim, he's kindly loaned me his laptop so that I can get back to my ongoing TransGriot mission of kicking knowledge to y'all about all things trans and otherwise.

Speaking of kicking knowledge, let's see what fool (or fools) earned our disdain as our fool for the week.

This week's fool is a repeat winner.

GOP spokesnegro Ron Christie gets the nod in the wake of his asinine comments on MSNBC.

Christie was one of the negro sellouts working in the Bush misadministration and now frequently spouts right wing BS on the various talking head shows.

He was peddling the conservative talking points that the prez shouldn't have commented on Skip Gates' recent BS arrest by the Cambridge, MA po-po's.

He also took issue with President Obama calling the situation 'stupid'.

First of all, the case and all charges have been dropped against Professor Gates, so it's NOT an ongoing case as you erroneously stated on MSNBC.

And hello, you Oreo-chomping disgrace to Black America, what the hell do you call it when a cop arrests you for breaking into your own house?

We all know if Professor Gates had been a white male, nothing would have happened once he pulled out his ID and proved he lived there. I doubt he would have had to pull out ID to prove he lived there, the cop would have just probably taken his word for it.

Ron Christie, shut up fool!

Pat's Ten Minute Hate

Post-racial America my ass.

Ever since Barack Hussein Obama became the Democratic nominee and eventually president of the United States, conservative white males (and females) have been losing their damned minds and letting their inner racists out.

Fear of a Black Planet is driving them crazy.

Exhibit A is last night's rant of conservabigot Pat Buchanan on the Rachel Maddow show.

Who is Pat Buchanan kidding? My ancestors did the yeoman's share of the labor in building this country while you pocketed the money, sipped ice tea on the veranda and raided the slave quarters at night to get some brown sugar when you were horny.

My ancestors built Washington DC, so it was past time we had an African-American family living in that nice white house our labor built. I'll be just as happy to see a Latino or Asian one in it as well or a female POTUS.

Speaking of unpaid labor, you owe me and other African Americans $175,000 each. That's the current value of the 40 acres and a mule reparations settlement that was vetoed by President Andrew Johnson.

News flash Pat, many of the inventions, scientific and technological innovations that make life easy in the USA were created from the genius of African descended people.

To quote NAACP founder W.E.B. DuBois, 'Would America have been America without her Negro people?"

Hell to the no.

But back to focusing on PatricKKK. This 'downtrodden white male' shtick is getting old and needs to be on Faux News, not MSNBC. It's obvious by the policies you and your fellow rich conservative white males espouse you don't care about 'downtrodden white males' until it's election time and you're trolling for GOP votes.

It's obvious Pat is living in the 1950's, but too many people share or enable his fracked up attitudes.

The last president should have proven to you beyond a shadow of a doubt that incompetent white males exist. Even the guy who was your party's 2008 nominee for president graduated 894 out of 898 in his Naval Academy class.

Many times we peeps of color have witnessed white males because of the color of their skin and legacy programs get college admissions slots and executive and other positions they aren't qualified for.

Now we have an unqualified white woman being considered GOP presidential material in 2012.

You know who I'm talking about. The one who has a slight resemblance to Tina Fey.

She just quit her job in Alaska, has a taste for expensive clothes, doesn't know the Constitution, current events, history or geography, hates bloggers and newscasters that ask her softball questions that stump her.

Pat's distorted view of affirmative action and his attack on Judge and future Supreme Court justice Sonia Sotomayor just highlights the moral bankruptcy of conservatism.

Only in Pat and conservative bizarro world is a Phi Beta Kappa summa cum laude Princeton grad, a Yale Law School grad who edited the Yale Law Journal considered lacking in intelligence and unfit to be on the Supreme Court simply because she isn't conservative, white and male.

You already have seven white males on the Supreme Court, oops eight. I almost forgot in your infinite wisdom you declared Clarence Thomas to be an 'honorary white male'. You can have him.

Intelligence and competence is not just concentrated in white males. Affirmative action wouldn't have been necessary if white males like yourself weren't clutching to power like a wino holding his last bottle of MD 20/20.

2050 will be here soon enough, Patrick. You'd better make sure those affirmative action rules and regulations are in place and properly working for your great grandkids instead of trashing them.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Apollo 11 Anniversary Edition

This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landings. I remember breathlessly watching the television coverage of the mission from its July 16 blastoff from then Cape Kennedy to the moon landing itself and the subsequent EVA from astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin that occurred after it.

Speaking of watching things, time for me to do what I do on a weekly basis. Find the fools who are on this planet making one small misstep away from man, and one giant leap for foolkind.

There were once again, many worthy candidates this week. Pat BuKKKanan, Jeff Sessions and other GOP senators grilling judge Sonia Sotomayor, Zell Miller, Philly's Valley Swim Club, and the spokeswomyn for the Lu's womyn-born-womyn pharmacy in Vancouver, BC.

Our runaway winners this week were the peeps at Free Republic.

The Freepers went crazy over First Daughter Malia Obama wearing a t-shirt with a peace symbol on it at the recent G-8 summit in Italy and responded with over the top racist psychobabble that was so nasty newspapers in other nations picked it up before the admins climbed out of their white sheets and shut down the disgusting thread.

People, she's 11 years old. Damn.

Free Republic, shut up fools!

Shut Up Fool! Awards-End Of June Edition

Well peeps, this year is moving fast isn't it? Wimbledon is in full swing, summer started on Sunday in conjunction with Father's Day his year, and the Iranians are continuing their brave struggle for freedom.

As always, fools are everywhere, and it's time to call out our Fool of the Week.

This week's fool in a landslide is Missouri state rep Cynthia Davis. Give you one guess what party she represents after you read this commentary from her.

Who’s buying dinner? Who is getting paid to serve the meal? Churches and other non-profits can do this at no cost to the taxpayer if it is warranted. [...] Bigger governmental programs take away our connectedness to the human family, our brotherhood and our need for one another. [...] Anyone under 18 can be eligible? Can’t they get a job during the summer by the time they are 16? Hunger can be a positive motivator. What is wrong with the idea of getting a job so you can get better meals? Tip: If you work for McDonald’s, they will feed you for free during your break. [...] It really is all about increasing government spending, which means an increase in taxes for us to buy more free lunches and breakfasts.

Did you say Republicans? Thought you could.

This comment came from the person who chairs the Missouri House Special Standing Committee on Children and Families. There are also one in five children in her state that suffer from hunger.

Missouri Rep. Cynthia Davis, shut up fool!

I Cheated In Argentina

TransGriot Note: Y'all knew I couldn't resist whacking Republican hypocrite Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC) with a song rewrite. This situation just practically begs for me to do it, so here goes. Enjoy it while Donna Summer sings the original lyrics.

I Cheated In Argentina
(Sung to the tune of 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina'

It won't be easy, you know it's strange
When I explain to South Carolina how I feel
That what I did was massively dumb

You won't believe me
Because I lied to you
You thought I went missing
But I went to be with my boo

I let it happen, I needed a change
This session wasn't particularly fun
I had to take the stimulus money and I'm bummed

So I needed a break
Running around on the Appalachian Trail
But was headed to the airport for fun
Didn't mean to scare everybody and never expected it to

(Chorus)
I cheated in Argentina
The truth is I up and left you
Flew to Buenos Aires
Straight to my mistress
Didn't keep my promise
Wife keeps her distance

And as for fortune, and as for love
I never invited them in
Though it's apparent to the world I want her skin

My affair was confusing
It's not the solution it promised to be
While my family was here all the time
I love you and hope you still love me

I cheated in Argentina
The truth is I up and left you
Flew to Buenos Aires
Straight to my mistress
Didn't keep my promise
Wife keeps her distance

Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true

I cheated in Argentina
The truth is I up and left you
Flew to Buenos Aires
Straight to my mistress
Didn't keep my promise
Wife keeps her distance

I cheated in Argentina
The truth is I up and left you
Flew to Buenos Aires
Straight to my mistress
Didn't keep my promise
Wife keeps her distance

I cheated in Argentina

Definition Of Racism By The Vanilla Flavored Privileged

When you get into a discussion online about race, you can count on the people who wallow in vanilla flavored privilege for fun and profit letting the word 'racism' flow freely from their lips.

Sociology 101 defines racism as prejudice plus power, be it economic, social, police, military or political, used by the majority group or members of it to retard the progress of a minority group.

But those peeps who are the beneficiaries of WP try to flip the script and project their BS onto the people they oppress.

They attempt to deliberately confuse prejudice and racism by arguing that racism is an INDIVIDUAL failing.

The vanilla flavored privileged refuse to acknowledge or as they angrily hiss at minority groups, refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

Prejudice is individual. Racism is taking your individual prejudices, combining them with political, economic or military/police power to use to oppress a minority group and retard their sociopolitical progress.

As I see it, in their minds, the privileged person's definition of racism is any comments, opinions, statements of facts or analysis of historical situations by people of color or progressive whites that criticizes or calls the continued hegemony of white males into question.

So when the conservative movement and the predominately monoracial GOP went 'nucular' over an out of context cherry picked comment by Judge Sonia Sotomayor, that definition of 'racism' was ensconced in their right-wing hive minds.

In a 2001 University of California-Berkeley speech, she stated, "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

The vanilla flavored privileged see it as racism, I see it as stating the obvious.

How many times throughout United States history have privileged while male judges ruled in favor of corporations, the wealthy, the police, conservative governments making power grabs, against civil rights for minorities, the poor, unions, et cetera?

The cumulative weight of evidence of atrocious rulings such as Plessy v. Ferguson, The Dred Scott Decision, Korematsu v. US have been more often than not on the wrong side of the moral arc of the universe than they have on the justice bending side.

So yes, a Latina justice on the Supreme Court, in a case involving a Latino/a or on any other issues, would probably depending on the facts of the case look at it in a different way than a privileged white male justice would before applying the applicable legal statutes in rendering their decision.

So would a Black male or female justice who isn't a right wing sellout, as the late Justice Thurgood Marshall proved time and time again.

And that's all good in the Supreme Court hood to me.

There has only been one ethnic group that has had the power in world history to retard the progress of others, and they don't hesitate to use it.

I have to laugh at the proposition that the 'rule of law' is sacred to the vanilla flavored privileged since they have selective memory about the numerous times they blatantly broke it or ignored it when it suited their purposes.

So spare me the faux conservaoutrage anytime that a person of color calls out prejudicial and racist behavior.

I'm Sorry That My GOP Racism Offends You

The sheet wearing racists that inhabit the RepubliKKKan Party just can't resist their programming.

First it was a GOP official in South Carolina who compared the First Lady to a gorilla.

Now comes word of the latest outrage from Tennessee. Then again why should I be shocked. The Tennessee GOP had their hate on for the FLOTUS as well during last year's Tennessee primary and came up with the infamous 'Call Me' ad during the 2006 US senate race between John Corker and Harold Ford, Jr.

Tennessee is the home state of Chip Saltsman, who created the infamous “Barack the Magic Negro” CD and was one of the candidates for the chairmanship of the national Republican party.

Well, in the latest chapter of the GOP White Sheet Chronicles, a staffer in Tennessee state senator Diane Black's (R-Gallatin) office named Sherry Goforth e-mailed a composite picture of our country’s 44 presidents, but represents President Obama with only a set of eyes.

It gets more interesting because Sen. Diane Black happens to be the chair of the Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus.

When confronted by Christian Grantham of the Nashville Is Talking blog about the e-mail, she confirmed she had sent it. Goforth also stated she had received a letter of reprimand from her superiors but will stay on the job.

When asked by Grantham if she understood the controversial nature of the photo, Goforth would only say she felt very bad about accidentally sending it to the wrong list.

Grantham gave her a second chance to address it and she repeated that she only felt bad about sending it to the wrong list of people.

Hmm, I wonder who's on the right wing, er right list?

“I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button,” Goforth told NIT. “I’m very sick about it, and it’s one of those things I can’t change or take back.”

Rep. John DeBerry, the chairman of the Tennessee Black Caucus of State Legislators, wasn't laughing at the so-called 'joke'. He said the incident reflects poorly on Tennessee and lawmakers.

“It’s unfortunate, and it’s another in a series of unfortunate incidents that have happened across this country with this president,” he said. “It sends the wrong message from the state of Tennessee, and it sends the wrong message from the House and Senate. I wish it hadn’t happened.”

But it's going to continue to happen. The GOP as the home of the Dixiecrats and the Southern Strategy, can't resist or are unwilling to resist and overcome their racist programming.

Well, it's a large part as to why the GOP only has 20% support. In the minds of many peeps GOP=Racism and they are doing little to dispel that impression.

These incidents happen with far too much regularity and speaks to the vanilla flavored privilege and ignorance that Republicans in the local, state and national level parties wallow in on a daily basis.

And note to Rusty DePass of South Carolina, hope you are aware of the fact that white gorrillas do exist.

There They Go Again-RepubliKKKan Racism

It didn't take long for the right wingers to attack President Obama's pick of Judge Sotomayor.

The privileged white males of the GOP and their puppet ruler Michael Steele within hours of the nomination were merrily attacking her education, cherry picking rulings from her long judicial career, called her an 'affirmative action hire' and based on a snippet of a YouTube video were calling her 'racist'.

It takes one to know one.

I found it laughable that two GOP college dropouts in Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove would have the cojones to call a summa cum laude Princetnn grad and editor of the Yale Law Review 'stupid'.

You boys been chomping on those Hater tots again haven't you?

But these aren't the only white sheet wearing haters that have come out of the GOP woodpile.

Sen. James Imhofe (R-OK) stated, "Of primary concern to me is whether or not Judge Sotomayor follows the proper role of judges and refrains from legislating from the bench. Some of her recent comments on this matter have given me cause for great concern. In the months ahead, it will be important for those of us in the U.S. Senate to weigh her qualifications and character as well as her ability to rule fairly without undue influence from her own personal race, gender, or political preferences.

Oh yeah, and the 110 other people who sat on the Court, especially the 107 past and present white males who occupied those seats all made rulings without their personal biases and upbringing coming into play.

The bottom line is that the GOP is hatin' on the fact that President Obama has once again put them in a political bind. They can't go overboard on attacking this historic choice or else they not only look like the intolerant bigots they are, they risk losing the support of Latinos for decades and cement their status as the 'rich white male party.'

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Post Mr. T Birthday Edition

I pity the fools who didn't celebrate Mr. T's birthday. Our awards mascot turned 57 yesterday

It's Friday, and that means it's time for another episode of the 'Shut Up Fool! awards. As the birthday boy stated, 'fools are everywhere' and we take the time to find them and shine a bright spotlight on them.

So it's time to cut out the jibber jabber and see what person (or persons) gets the honor of being the fool of the week.

For his virtuoso performance last week on the Notre Dame campus, I just have to give it up to perennial sellout negro Alan Keyes. He's also in the running for a Shut Up Fool! Lifetime Achievement Award.

When he couldn't get elected to dog catcher in Maryland, much less to any public office in the state he carpetbagged his way to Chicago for the IL US senate election versus the future prez.

He got his butt kicked by a 3-1 margin with Obama piling up 3 million votes despite being outspent 2-1 by Keyes. It was a US senate campaign in which Keyes called him a "radical communist" and said a vote for Obama was a "vote for Satan."

So yeah, there's no love lost between the two.

He's also one of the conservawackos who is still in GOP Fantasy Land questioning the prez's US citizenship, and last week he accused the prez of 'prostituting' Notre Dame

I have zero respect for a sellout and hypocrite whose 'family values' drove him to kick his own daughter out of his house and cut off funding for her college education when Maya Keyes publicly declared she was a lesbian.

Sounds like the accusation you spat at President Obama about 'Rejecting God's fundamental law of love. . ." applies more to you.

President Obama is a light years better man than you ever will be.

Alan Keyes, shut up fool!

Virginia Foxx Showcases GOP Ignorance

If the GOP wants to know why they have been getting their asses kicked in national elections and has shrunk to just a regional party, look no further than their jihad against GLBT civil rights that leads to negative news coverage like this.

While it's great comic relief for me as a Democrat, and as someone who has tangled with the yahoo variety on more than several occasions, I am disturbed that its gotten this bad for the GOP.

It's also not good when one party is controlled by its nutcase fringe to the point where reasonable people are fleeing it.

Michael Steele has a tough job trying to sell this tainted brand to the American public, and especially peeps of color after decades of hatin' on us.

The anti intellectualism along with the racism turned me off toward them ever getting my vote as a college student, and they didn't do themselves any favors by trying to suppress my vote in the 1984 presidential election.

The Deep South GOP's are even worse, being the first ones taken over by the Christobigots. The Texas GOP for example has had party platforms which are more batshit crazy than the national GOP

But the problem with the GOP is that it has become an increasingly white male dominated, monoracial, anti-intellectual, hostile to civil rights far right wing party.

In many cases the so called minorites they hold up as examples in the GOP are far worse, because they are selling out their people just so they can look more 'conservative than thou' to fit in.

You can also count on women like Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Virginia Foxx (R-NC) to make themselves look like idiots on a regular basis along with a certain governor from Alaska.

This nation's two party system works best when you have two healthy parties fighting for the center. It pushes the other party to make the improvements or adjustments needed to come up with intelligent, long lasting policies that everybody can support and rally behind.

When you have a party that's not even trying to be centrist and adopting the Bushian 'you're either for us or against us' bunker mentality, that's not only bad for democracy, it's bad for the country as well.

1-20-13

If you happen to see this bumper sticker on a car, you know it belongs to a Republican.

We are rapidly approaching 100 days since the January inauguration of President Obama. His term is a hit so far with the 69 million of us who voted for him and people around the world who celebrated his election.

As far as I'm concerned November 4 will forever be for me VC Day. (Victory over Conservatism day)

It's a hit with everybody except the 59 million peeps who voted for McPalin.

Baa, I'm mean waah. But then again both terms are apropos.

People, you lost, here's the proof and we didn't have to steal the election to beat you. It was a 365 to 173 electoral college blowout. So you peeps keep on hatin' while we keep cleaning up the toxic waste left over from the Bush misadministration.

Keep letting the batturd wing of your party speak for you. You're turning off moderates left, right and center with your racist and devoid of logic rhetoric. All we have to do is something you peeps never could get a handle on, govern the country.

Your white sheets are showing because the intelligent brother with the cute kids and the smart, beautiful wife is slaying stereotypes at every turn.

The prez is repairing our standing in the world as he promised during last year's campaign and cleaning up the economic mess Junior left him. He's making the majority of Americans who voted for him very happy after living in your wannabee theocratic dictatorship for the last eight years.

So keep on hatin' President Obama. He's done far more in the last 99 days than your boy did in eight years.

If he keeps it up, 1-20-13 will dawn with his November 2012 reelection to the office and President Obama prepping for his second inauguration.

If You Watch Fox News, You're Uninformed

If you're watching Fox News, congratulations, you are part of the most uninformed people in the country.

Those of you who read this blog and other multiple news sources are doing your part to ensure that democracy works correctly by being informed citizens.

As a matter of fact, it's the only way that democracy can work. But unfortunately, the Founding Fathers didn't conceive of a network whose sole raison d'etre is to disseminate lies and propaganda setting up shop on US soil.

But don't take my word for it. Emmy award winning documentarian Alexandra Pelosi (the daughter of the Speaker of the House) recently filmed a documentary for HBO that documents just how off base, ignorant and detached from reality the Fox sheeple are called Right America: Feeling Wronged.

Fox News likes to portray itself as "fair and balanced". Excuse me for a moment while I double over in laughter.

They whine about not being taken seriously as a major network, but how can you when they've never won any serious journalism awards, relentlessly pimp the Republican agenda and make no bones about the fact they are doing it?

I can only stand them for about ten seconds until I hit the remote and go look for a real news source such as the BBC.

Tell The Truth, Janeane!

The sheet wearing batturd wing of the GOP is furiously trying to deny it, but the world knows the truth about the sparsely attended so called 'grassroots' tea party rallies promoted by Faux News in a suburb near you.

Janeane Garofalo tells it like it T-I-S is, and the Reichers ain't liking it.

Janeane just vocalized what many of us noted. These non-events reminded me of the 'Two minute hate from the novel '1984'. In my local one I saw the usual anti civil rights cast of characters and that told me all I needed to know about these events.

As 'errbody' who watched the teabaggers frothing at the mouth hatred of Obama, we noted not only the lack of melanin at these rallies, but noted through your various commentaries to various news sources that what was motivating you wasn't good old fashioned American values, but racism.

Oh yeah, forgot you Fox News watching peeps consider hatred and wearing pointed hoods a good old fashioned American value.

I'm surprised the Confederate flag didn't come out of the closet based on the tired 'state's rights' rhetoric I heard ad nauseum.

Yo teabaggers, you lost on November 4, and the beauty of the situation is that we didn't have to rig the election or call on the Supreme Court to beat the crap out of you. So until 2012, why don't you turn off Faux News and Rush Limbaugh and pick up a few history books?

Better get with the fact the 'A' students are running the country now and doing a much better job in the last 80 plus days than your non reading fool did in 8 years.

Real Texans Aren't Nekulturny

As you longtime TransGriot readers know I'm exceedingly proud of my Houston and Texas roots and wax poetic sometimes about growing up in a Lone Star State that followed its progressive political roots.

Unfortunately the batturd wing of the Republican Party decided to use Texas as a laboratory for field testing the themes and policies they would later use to capture control of the state and later the country. After 15 years of disastrous GOP control of the state in the wake of Ann Richards successful 1991-1995 term as governor, the yahoos are running the asylum and did unto Texas what they did to the nation.

George W. Bush's disastrous mispresidency didn't help the image of Texans as far as the county and the world is concerned. Every time some politician says something stuck on stupid, you can count on three things: they're Republican, they're from Texas or both.

So of course I'm going to comment on the idiocy spouted by Governor Goodhair. It also speaks volumes as to probably why until 2002 Texans never elected an Aggie as the governor.

“Texas is a unique place. When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that,” Perry said. “My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention. We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, who knows what may come of that.”

First of all, Perry failed his Texas history class in junior high and at Texas A&M. Texas was an independent republic from 1836 until it joined the Union. The oft cited 1845 treaty that facilitated Texas' admission into the Union stated that Texas had the right to split into four additional states, not the right to secede.

In 1991 a Texas legislator filed a bill to do precisely that, but it went nowhere, just as it did when John Nance Garner proposed it in 1921.

Perry also misquoted Sam Houston, a former president of the Republic of Texas who became our seventh governor.

He borrowed a Sam Houston quote that stated, “Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may!”

The reality for you conservailliterates is that Sam Houston bitterly opposed Texas’ 1861 secession from the Union, and was removed from office when he refused to sign a loyalty oath to the Confederacy.

As for the question of secession, the Civil War settled that. Also note that the only peeps pimping this racist 'state's rights' secession bullshit are devoid of melanin. In addition to that 75% of the state in a poll released today said a resounding 'Hell No' to the prospect of secession.

My former state senator, Rodney Ellis, called out Governor Goodhair by saying, "that by not rejecting the possibility of secession out of hand, Perry "is taking a step down a very dangerous and divisive path encouraged by the fringe of Texas politics."

The Texas House Democrats as well sponsored a resolution condemning the governor's remarks as well.

For the rest of you folks in the other 49 states that are hollering 'do it' and 'good riddance', let me school y'all on something. If Texas were an independent nation, it would be the eighth largest economy on the planet. Not something you want to lose if you're trying to pull the USA out of a recession.

The national Republican party is probably behind the scenes cursing Rick Perry out for even suggesting it because all of their presidential election scenarios begin and end with Texas in their electoral college calculations.

I'd like to also point out that while we unfortunately have the stereotypical Ugly Texan yahoos, many Texans have made substantial contributions to the United States on many fronts.

You have military leaders such as Admiral Chester Nimitz, General and later president Dwight D. Eisenhower who hail from my birth state. Political statesmen and stateswomen such as Mickey Leland, Barbara Jordan, Governor Ann Richards, President Lyndon Johnson, Sam Rayburn and Sen. Ralph Yarborough, the only Southern senator to vote for all civil rights bills from 1957-1970.

We have writers such as Molly Ivins, Larry McMurtry and J. Frank Dobie. Distinguished CBS News anchors Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather are from my hometown and Bill Moyers is a Texan as well.

I won't even begin to list the legions of Texans from Sandy Duncan and Renee Zellweger, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, Tony winner Phylicia Rashad, Grammy winner Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Erykah Badu who have populated the stage, screen and music worlds.

If it weren't for Texan football players, Oklahoma wouldn't even be an elite football program. It would take another post for me to list the Texans populating the professional sports ranks and Halls of Fame in various sports as well.

Those of us who are proud progressive Texans in the Billie Carr-Barbara Jordan-Ann Richards-Ralph Yarborough tradition are sick and tired of these yahoos purporting to represent 'real Texans' and us getting the negative backlash for their idiocy.

Real Texans aren't nekulturny jerks like the fools who were on display last Wednesday. Real Texans care about all their fellow human beings, not a partisan slice of it.

Shut Up Fool! Awards-Post Taxing Edition

It's two days after April 15th, and the fallout from the right wing hate on Obama fest is still reverberating throughout the media and the blogosphere.

Here in Da Ville we're gearing up for Thunder Over Louisville, the massive fireworks show that kicks off the two week long Kentucky Derby Festival that's a prelude to the Kentucky Oaks and Derby horse races.

Speaking of horses, let's see what fool made himself or herself look like a horse's posterior and earned this week's Shut Up Fool! Award.

There were plenty of candidates thanks to the teabagging parties, but the fool who distinguished himself is my former governor Rick Perry.

Governor Goodhair played to the batshit wing of the party and mentioned the s-word in two separate interviews. Okay, didn't Texas try the secession route in 1861 when it joined the Confederacy and it was a miserable failure?

There's a reason why we didn't let Aggies near the governor's chair, and after this term an Aggie probably won't get within sniffing distance of the chair again for a while after you're mercifully gone from the governor's mansion.

We'll also have to conduct an exorcism after the way you and George W have desecrated the place since 1994.

Rick Perry, shut up fool!

Tax Day

Today is the day that many Americans anticipate with fear and loathing, Tax Day.

April 15th is the deadline to file tax returns. I'm due a refund and have had my paperwork and W-2 together since early February, but I usually hold off until late March or early April to file it so I get the refund around my birthday.

I'm getting a little something-something back from the Feds, so I'm not complaining.

But what I am chuckling about is the GOP haters in their desperate zeal to stir up fear, hatred and loathing of our wildly successful so far president have set up anti-tax propaganda rallies all over the country today.

These are alleged to be 'grassroots' events, but are backed by corporate sponsors, Faux News and the Repugnican party.

I checked the ones scheduled for Houston, and all of them with the exception of the downtown event at Jones Plaza, all of them are taking place in predominately white suburbs. I have no doubts that the pattern is replicating itself elsewhere in the country as well along with the glaring lack of melanin of the event participants.

Nobody likes paying taxes, but everybody wants interstate highways with no potholes, their mail to come on time and other federal government services to function on demand, smoothly and efficiently. They can't do that without cash, and as the saying goes, no new taxes equals no new services.

So just fire up TurboTax, e-file it, call it a day and enjoy the entertaining show from the GOP sheeple hatin' on the prez.

They have yet to catch on to the fact (unless they were watching Rachel Maddow LHAO) that the 'teabagging' phrase they are using to refer to their movement refers to a sexual practice.

Rush Gets Smacked On His Own Show

I can only take Faux News, Rush and all the other Republifascists in small doses, so I don't listen to or watch their shows. But there are days that I wish I had, and one of those was Tuesday.

A caller got through and excoriated the so called leader of the Republican Party/conservative movement. Here's the enjoyable takedown and a transcript courtesy of Media Matters.

Thanks Charles for exposing the real Rush Limbaugh. With talent on loan from Satan, he's a draft dodging bully who can dish out the criticism, but he can't take it. He's also been shown to be the foolish idiot he really is.
