Susan Stanton Fired As Lake Worth City Manager

After 2.5 years as the city manager of Lake Worth, FL her term came to an abrupt end as the Lake Worth city commission voted 3-2 to fire her.

The details haven't full come out yet, but the reason by recently elected mayor Pam Triolo was a 'sense of distrust and anger among Lake Worth residents'.

Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell, who has had a series of disagreements with Stanton for years according to the Palm Beach Post News made the motion to fire her at the beginning of Tuesday's meeting.

Maxwell, along with Mayor Triolo and city commissioner Andy Amoroso, who was newly elected on November 8 along with the mayor voted in favor of Stanton's termination with Commissioners Christopher McVoy and Suzanne Mulvehill voted against the firing.

"I find it really out of line to have this dropped on us and on the public without advance notice," Commissioner McVoy said.

Stanton received a mostly favorable evaluation by the commission in April, though then-Mayor Rene Varela criticized her for poor relations with residents, employees and other government leaders.

In an April 4 memo to the commission, Stanton said she found more problems than she expected after she became city manager, including a financial system that allowed departments to spend money not approved in the budget, a lack of personnel policies and no payroll time-recording system.

It'll be interesting to see where Stanton ends up
