Shut Up Fool Awards-MLK Jr Memorial Dedication Weekend Edition

On Sunday the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington DC will occur that was delayed due to Hurricane Irene's transit up the East Coast back in late August.

The ceremonial dedication is set to take place starting at 11 AM EDT, and once again the keynote address will be delivered by President Barack Obama.

The entertainment portion of the program will be headlined the 'Queen of Soul' herself, Aretha Franklin.  The list of speakers besides the POTUS includes civil rights icons such as Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., Julian Bond, members of the King family, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, journalist Dan Rather, poet Nikki Giovanni and Alpha Phi Alpha general president Herman 'Skip' Mason.

Dr King said in his 1963 essay Strength To Love that "Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."

Amen, Dr. King.   And that quote allows me to segue into our weekly TransGriot business in which we shine a bright spotlight on the fool, fools or group of fools who are exhibiting dangerous levels of sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Out Shut up Fool award nominees for this week were Mitt Romney, Herman Cain, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann, Fox Noise, Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Speaker John Boehner (R-OH),  Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Bill Maher and Karl Rove.

Our winner this week is Rep Virginia Foxx (R-NC).  After Rep Jackie Speier (D-CA) and other Democratic women legislators lit up the Republifools over the odious 'Let Women Die' bill the GOP majority was pimping, Foxx responded with another devoid of logic defense of the so-called 'Protect Life Act'.

“For my colleagues across the aisles who say that this is a misogynist bill, nobody has ever fought more for the rights of women than I have,” Foxx declared. “Fifty percent of the unborn babies that are being aborted are females. So the misogyny comes from those that promote the killing of unborn babies. That’s where the misogyny comes in, Madame Speaker.”

Really, Rep. Foxx?  You've voted against pro-choice positions at least nine times.  And don't even get me started about all the votes you've taken against expanding the rights of women of color.

And when did Speaker Boehner became part of the rainbow family and have a gender change?.

Rep Virginia Foxx, shut the HELL up fool.
