Shut Up Fool Awards-Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend Edition

It's the first Friday in October, and one of the things I'm loving is that the temps are finally starting to cool down here in H-town to the 70's and 80's range for daytime highs and cooling off at night.

In other words, we're having LA weather days right now minus the smog.

But for my Canadian readers, it's Thanksgiving weekend.  You peeps in the Great White North are about to get your grub on Monday and be thankful for the bountiful blessings you received this year.   Down south we get to do our turkey and stuffing feasting in seven weeks.

Speaking of turkeys, that's a nice segue into our weekly business of finding the fool, fools or group of fools that deserve to be carved up for our Shut Up Fool Award honors.

Since this is the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend edition, I'm going to select two this week, one US fool and one Canadian fool since stupidity and ignorance is a universal language.   So let me cut out the jibber jabber and start by announcing the Shut Up Fool! award, US Division this week.

This week's fool in a landslide is Hank Williams, Jr.  You won't be hearing him sing 'Are You Ready For Some Football?' before the ESPN Monday Night Football telecasts any more because he put his conservafoot in his mouth on  Fox Noise Monday morning.

Williams said this summer's so-called golf summit between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) as "one of the biggest political mistakes ever."

Williams said on Fox & Friends: "It would be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli leader) Benjamin Netanyahu."   When asked on Fox to explain his analogy, Williams said Obama and Vice President Biden are "the enemy."

Williams has expressed interest in running for a US Senate seat next year in Tennessee.  Hope you remember that there are double digit percentages of African-Americans who live in your state and don't exactly like it when you disrespect a president who looks like us.

And oh yeah, we vote too.  That's probably why you gave that half azzed apology Tuesday when you realized that point.

Hank Williams, Jr are you ready for this Shut Up Fool award?      Shut Up Fool!

Now moving on to the Canadian division.  This week's fool is someone not familiar to many US citizens, but for Canadians and especially the TBLG community, he embodies the Christian conservafool movement in the Great White North.

His name is Charles McVety and he founded Canadian Christian College in Toronto, helms the Institute For Canadian Values and until he ran afoul of the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, Word TV.

He has ties to our Religious Reichers John Hagee, Benny Hinn and Pat Robertson, is working to repeal the 2005 law that granted same gender marriage rights, boasts that he has influence in Conservative Party politics up to Prime Minister Stephen Harper himself, and of course is leading the charge against the Canadian trans rights bills..

McVety earned the Canadian division Shut Up Fool! Award! for having his Institute For Canadian Values place a September 28 ad in the National Post and other Canadian newspapers that alleged that LGBT positive education would confuse children about their gender  After those ads generated criticism the Post pulled them and publicly apologized.
    .
As Mercedes Allen from the Dented Blue Mercedes blog said about our Canadian Division fool:.
So there really is no confusion.  You can’t contract confusion about your gender from learning to not beat up trans or gender non-conforming kids.  But you can, however, be confused about why a middle-aged preacher might see you as someone so horrible that the school should be evacuated the moment someone wants to teach your classmates why they should respect you as a human being.
Charles McVety, Shut up fool, eh?

And Francophones, help a sistah out.  For future reference, how do I say Shut up Fool in French?

TransGriot Note:  Got an answer to that question:  It's Imbécile fait taire
